Hayloft Reviews

Hayloft is prefect for a relaxing week away. Has everything you need plus amazing views from the jacuzzi. Highly recommend
Denise
A lovely cottage in a beautiful rural setting. Comfortable beds, nicely furnished and the log burner added extra charm on an evening. The kitchen had everything you need, plenty of cutlery and crockery but if you are planning on making a casserole etc, take your own larger pans. The hot tub was a good size and serviced daily. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.
Joanne
Fabulous cottage and location . Will definitely stay again.
Barbara
Having stayed at Hayloft for 3 nights 15th to 18th Sept we have absolutely loved this accommodation and the location. We could not fault same. The accommodation is so lovely, well equipped and cosy. We especially enjoyed the hot tub with views , all the more made better with the fab weather we had. The location is ideal for walking to Haybeck Wyke one way and Robin Hoods Bay the other, and further afield if you so desire. We have all stated we would book here again and are looking to do so. Would highly recommend this property.
Had an amazing time at Hayloft. It's a fantastic cottage in a great location, perfect for walking along the coast to Robin Hood's Bay, and very short drive to Whitby and Scarborough. The cottage itself is perfect, with a fantastic hot tub to unwind after a day's walking. We group of 6 had a brilliant time. Fully stocked kitchen, and wonderful dining table meant we could cook full meals and enjoy them together in the evening. Lovely large living room with log burner we didn't need to use, and plenty of comfy seating for us all. Three immaculate bedrooms, comfy beds, provided a good night's sleep. Can't speak highly enough and will definitely return again for a third time.
Rachel
We loved our stay. Great location beautiful views. Lovely hot tub and cottage. Hosts were lovely and friendly would definitely recommend.
Alison
Lovely Barn with home comforts. Lovely location on a farm which was nice to see the horses each day. Fantastic views from the garden, kitchen and hot tub across the fields. So quiet and relaxing too. Plenty of parking, nice walks starting at the bottom of the garden which was a bonus. Good quality facilities. Some people may want a 2nd bathroom as barn sleeps 6 as there's plenty of space for one, but it was fine for us. All in all we would definitely recommend Hayloft.
Daniel
Accommodation was amazing. Spacious, clean and everything we needed. Perfect location for coastal walks. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.
Denise
Hayloft is in a beautiful setting and so close to many places and has a huge garden. The house was clean and well looked after and having the hot tub was great. There is only one bathroom in the property, which for the 4 of us it was fine but as it sleeps 6 this might not be so good. I advised to Ben the owner that the bathroom needs some shelf space as there was only the sink to pop toothbrushes on and it was a squeeze and also pop something in the shower to hold shampoo ect, he did welcome the feedback. Hubby loved the bed, but for me it was too firm but thats something that cant suit everyone. All in all a lovely barn, in a lovely setting and we would return. Thanks Ben & Wendy it was lovely to meet you.
Adrian
The cottage was lovely and we had a wonderful stay. Thank you.
We really enjoyed our stay at the hayloft. This is probably the best holiday home we have stayed in so far. The hayloft is much better than the pictures, we were not disappointed. It was a really relaxing break for 3 adults and a baby, a great base to go visiting during the day. If we ever come back to the moors we will stay agian. The new heating installed was easy to use, really warm and a first for us. All the renovations they have completed are top notch. Just book now!
Joanne
Beautiful throughly enjoyed
Fantastic stay with our parents and children between Christmas and New Year! Barn is better than the photos show. It is very homely and cosy and we didnt want to go home. Hot tub is fab with beautiful views but definitely could be enhanced with a roof of sorts to protect from the windrain. Log burner was wonderful, bedrooms comfortable, lovely farmhouse style kitchen could do with extra serving dishes, pizza cutterfull cheese grater and other utensils you may use for making quick food whilst away. We went to the Hayburn Wyke Inn for food which was very cosy on a wintery day. Scarborough was a seaside treat. Would definitely return without a second thought. Go on and book!
Fab time thanks
We decided to stay here for a long weekend, we took our 1 year old daughter and we absolutely loved it, we would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a break in the countryside with a small child, or any age child. Theres plenty of animals and a big garden. Theres an open fire which at first I was worried about with my little girl being so into everything but the living room is huge and spacious enough that theres no reason to be near the fire. We will definitely be returning. We are frequent long weekend away type people and this is by far the best place weve stayed. Owners are a delight as well as friendly 1010 in every way possible
Amanda
Hayloft was beautiful. So peaceful and had everything you'd ever need for a relaxing stay.
Katherine
Absolutely stunning property really was home from home. Everything provided for a comfortable and relaxing break. Will hopefully be return visitors and will definitely recommend to family and friends who are looking to holiday in the area. Thank you for providing a wonderful base for our short break
Lovely cottage, superb hosts. Will be returning for a fourth visit
Danielle
Fantastic week at hayloft. Felt like home from the minute we arrived with a little welcome pack for us. Cottage was very clean and tidy. No problems at all. Kids loved the hot tub adults didn't really get to enjoy the peace and quiet lol. Plenty of things to do in the area. Wish we had booked another week as didn't want to leave. We look forward to visiting again at some point.
This property could be fantastic. The views are spectacular in an amazing location. Its potential could be made better by the following Get a new TV and upgrade your Sky box. Why are all the plates chipped in the kitchen? This is a health hazard and chipped plates should be thrown away. The frying pan was shocking and had to be thrown. The patio doors in the living room did not lock and the whole thing was loose. When the wind blew it was a little noisy for the two sleeping above the lounge. Having a holiday home is an investment and I would recommend that you put some investment back into it. Otherwise we had a great stay. David
This cottage is set in stunning surroundings. Loved being able to sit in the hot tub in tranquil peace looking out over the rolling hills. Well placed for reaching many places such as Whitby and Scarborough for the kids. A few extra additions to the kitchen facilities would make this absolutely perfect roasting tin and or Pyrex dish for pasta bakes and egg cups the kids are quite partial to a boiled egg and soldiers for breakfast
Darren
We have just got back from an amazing stay at the Hayloft. The Hayloft is Home from Home and if you decide to eat in has all the facilities you need. It is situated in a great place, ideal for Scarborough or Whitby or anywhere on the north east coast really. We had a few hours in Ravenscar which is just up the road and were lucky enough to see the seal colony. The kids and wife loved the hot tub and the views from this were great The place was really warm and even warmer with the wood burning fire. We took our own board games but it even has them. Ben owner was brilliant too and nothing was ever too much trouble. We loved our stay here and will definitely be booking again in the not too distant future. Cant wait to come back. Thanks again for a great cottage
Joanne

Great stay with in a lovely location. The property was clean, well appointed with lovely views over the moors. Friendly hosts giving hints and tips.
Christopher
The cottage was lovely, in a beautiful and quiet area. Perfectly positioned for easy access to Whitby and Scarborough as well as other places of interest in the surrounding area. The kids loved the hot tub and we enjoyed the coziness of the log fire on a night time. A great stay, thank you!
We had a lovely stay at Hayloft, our 2 year old daughter loved it so much also. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. The hot tub is a welcome addition at the end of a long day exploring the local villages and area.
What a fantastic cottage in a wonderful location. Had everything we needed and the hot tub is perfect after a long days' walk. Highly recommended Five
Deborah
The location was good for exploring North Yorkshire, the cottage was everything we were hoping for and we would recommend this cottage.
The hayloft is a lovely place to stay and i would recommend it to anyone. very clean and well maintained. Ben and Wendy, the owners are on hand to answer any questions and to carry out a water change of the hot tub if needed. the countryside is beautiful and there are countrysidecoastal walks from the cottage. the farm has a few pet sheep, dogs and cats. there are also deer in the field behind the hayloft that can been seen if you get up early, and there is a toad that hops along the side of the cottage every night loved him. the hayloft is homely, quiet and it was a pleasure to stay. if you want a restful holiday, where you can drive to the coast for the kids but relax in a tub overlooking beautiful countryside in the evenings, then the hayloft is defiantly for you. in fact we loved it so much we are going back next year!
Kristian
Wonderful stay at a perfect cottage. Couldnt be faulted in any way. Clean and comfortable with everything we needed.
Ashley
We stayed in Hayloft cottage the last week in June 2021! It was a needed girls trip to relax and do some exploring. The cottage did not disappoint! Its a lovely cottage with beautiful views and in a peaceful location. We couldnt have asked for anything more! We did find the cottage a little cold at times and would have loved some comfy throws for the living room. This wouldnt stop us visiting again! We ventured out everyday then relaxed in the hot tub before going out in the evening. This cottage is in a great location for exploring, Whitby is a 20mins drive and Scarborough beach is10mins drive. We would recommend the below while staying at the Hayloft Trip to Ravenscar to see the seals the walk to the seals is down hill so walking back is a struggle. Definitely worth it! Falling Foss Waterfall great adventure with a lovely tea room hidden away for a coffee and cake. The Foulsyke we went for Sunday lunch. Great value for money and great tasting food. They serve the biggest Yorkshire puddings I have ever seen. Alberts Eatery Whitby beautiful seafood restaurant with a great atmosphere. High recommended! The plough in Scalby great restaurant, amazing goat cheese pie and fantastic espresso martini.
Comfortable, spacious and clean. In a good position to explore the Yorkshire coast.
Great place in a fantastic location the views from the hot tub are amazing as is the hot tub which is a great touch. Plenty of places to visit if you have transport and well worth a climb down to the seals in Ravenscar, really quiet at night too.
What a lovely cottage. .. Within seconds of walking in we were feeling at home. Beautiful surroundings... And made very welcome by the owners... Thank you for a lovely break at a great price... Already looking at next available dates.
Carolyn
Beautiful accommodation in rural setting. Perfect.
Douglas
Fantastic setting with beautiful views, very modern but rustic feel hot tub was brilliant ! We had booked originally for my wifes 60th birthday back in May but had to cancel due to covid but it was well worth the wait , We had a fantastic time ! Only one minor fault it would have been better with a second toilet ,
Absolutely brilliant break at this property. We had booked 3 nights and were sad hadnt been able to stay longer. The hosts had thought of every detail and the property was clean, comfortable and warm. We loved our stay here. Would recommend
Beautiful place, so clean and comfortable. Perfect for what we needed. Location and views are stunning!
Rachel
We have just returned from a lovely relaxing long weekend in this cottage. It had been refurbished over summer which was lucky for us, as we should have originally been visiting in May. The brand new kitchen had absolutely everything you need. And the new bathroom is beautifully done. There were lots of little touches that made our stay easier, like tea coffee and milk in the kitchen on arrival. There were a few dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and washing machine detergent under the sink. And a full log basket ready for the log burner. Unfortunately the weather was not on board with the great service that the cottage hosts were providing, and 60mph winds and rain for the weekend meant that we only explored a small part of the area with our kiddies. But even when we were cold and wet, there was always time for a warm in the hottub, even in gale force winds The hosts recommended a couple of local pubs for Sunday lunch, and we went to the Bryerstones on their recommendation which didn't disappoint. Pros Great cottage, beautiful location, hot tub a bonus. WIFI Cons None really for us We will certainly stay again... looking for next year as soon as I've finished this!
The property was perfect for everything we needed! We will definitely be back and we have already recommended you to everyone looking for a break in Whitby. Thank you for everything and see you again soon!

Attractions Near Hayloft

While there'll be plenty to keep you entertained an Hayloft itself, if you plan to get out and about and see some of what Vale of York has to offer, here are some of the nearby attractions you can enjoy during your stay. Please note that some of these activities and days out are paid and it's always a good idea to book in advance to secure your place where applicable.

Found a special day out near your cottage? Please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too!
The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS
about 2 Miles
Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 5 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 5 Miles
Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.
Peasholm Park - YO12 6QQ
about 6 Miles
This attraction is ideal for sunny days as the beautiful park is ideal for wandering out and taking in the scenery.  You can hire boats including rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the views from the water.  The pedalos with the dragon heads are always a popular choice too. Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see".  You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 8 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 17 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 24 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
Yorkshire Lavender - YO60 6PB
about 26 Miles
Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip. The onsite shops sells Lavender products such as bath and body treats, skincare, medicine and herbal remedies.
