The Old Chapel Reviews

A comfortable and well equipped cottage. Good food at the owners' pub at very reasonable prices. The parking is very tight at the cottage & I couldnt get my V60 in but our friends got their smaller Ford suv in. Can't imagine how someone got a Range Rover in. Steep approach road was a challenge for our angina sufferer
Rowanne
Lovely unique property with heart and sole of owners put in to it. We really enjoyed our stay with our teenage kids and black lab, and would recommend to others. As they are also the owners of the village pub eating there is a must as the food was great and the friendly staff villagers made us all very welcome, You could order to take out too!. The village shop just next door to pub was open from 96pm had all we needed after a day's walking on route back up to the hot tub in the Chapel garden to sooth our aching muscles! Thank you Phil & Lara for a lovely stay
The Old Chapel is a home from home stay, in that as soon as you walk in you relax! The views from the patio and hot tub are beautiful across the valley and all you can hear are the sound of the sheep on the hillside. The Old Chapel has everything you need for a comfortable stay, a very well equipped kitchen, great showers, a comfortable sofa in front of the log burner and a large dining table for eating and playing card games in the evening. Just down the road is a friendly pub and shop, and on your doorstep there are beautiful walks in rural Shropshire. We all loved our stay in the Old Chapel.

We had a great time. It was nice to see that they had kept on top of things as we stayed a few years ago and can see they have made great changes, such as TV, underfloor heating and bathrooms etc but kept the character. Garden could do with some TLC and flags fixing and ensure bins empty when arrived outside bin had previous occupants dog dirt in and when we left the bags out for collection on Tuesday nothing happened. Taking all the above in dont let that think this is not a wonderful place to stay and although in the middel of nowhere there is still good wifi if you wanted it but we wanted to escape and that we did. Thanks to Lara and Phil for letting us stay in this wonderful place

We did not know that parking at the property was slightly difficult.
We had a great time at the cottage. Phil and Lara were very friendly and responsive when unforeseen problems arose. The cottage is a lovely space with a beautiful outside area. The pub is just around the corner, along with Jo's shop, which is like Aladdin's cave. There are also nice country walks you can take directly from the cottage.
Situated in a beautiful peaceful location a very well equipped comfortable house providing everything needed more for a great stay. Weather was mixed but house was cosy with underfloor heating and a stove with fuel and fire lighters at hand. Dog was welcome at no extra charge which was a refreshing change. Hot tub brilliant.
Generally very good , just minor gripes about softness of single bed mattresses and quality of pillows. We understand that it may be personal preferences.

This is an unusual and interesting cottage full of character. Very warm and cosy inspite of its height.Lovely views over the fields, large hot tub and easy reach of the Stiperstones Pub which is welcoming and serves great food at a good price.Walks from the door and nearby bog carpark ,and what walks! Some challenging but stunning scenery.Had a great week here.
What a fantastic property perfect location for walks straight from the door . The cottage has lots of character. The rooms are all lovely and comfortable. The pub that owns the cottage is great where you also get 10off the food is excellent I will be booking again
Geraldine
Lovely cosy warm chapel a credit to Phil & Lara,we have stayed at many cottages and this is definitely one of the best, for comfort from the comfy sofas, beds fluffy towels log burner and the very enjoyable hot tub, there is everything you need for a break away, walks close by and the scenery wow, the garden is tiered and has steps from utility but it does state this in the description. Very dog friendly stay and the pub friendly and welcoming
We had a fantastic holiday. The Chapel is like a home from home. The cake on arrival was amazing and a lovely touch alongside the milk and bread. The Stiperstones Inn was also fantastic and reasonably priced. Thank you.
Sharon
Excellent place to stay ,the owners could not have made you more welcome, it was like home from home ,the stiperstones pub is very welcoming, great food and great home made gins ,hot tub was brilliant with great views . The cottage itself is amazing the owners should be very proud ,roll on 2023 so we can come again . THANK YOU AGAIN FOR AN EXCELLENT STAY .
Overall we had a lovely time at the Old Chapel. The hot tub was brilliant and the garden area being enclosed was great with the dogs. Its a shame about the parking, luckily extra parking available at the pub but problematic when its raining etc. We had a flood following heavy rains as the grid outside was blocked with leaves. My husband removed the blockage but the hall was very wet for a few days. We did make the owners aware apparently it had happened before.

We had a fabulous stay at The Old Chapel! The cottage is much more spacious than it looked on the photos. We loved falling asleep under the stars in the Master Bedroom and watching the sun set as we sat in the hot tub. The lemon drizzle cake, bread and milk was very welcome, especially as our Tesco delivery was cancelled! We had a great time visiting the Silver Mine, Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and the Victorian Village. We also enjoyed Sunday lunch at The Stiperstones Inn and popped along to the quiz night which was great fun. We would love to return again. My only slight bit of negative feedback is I like to sit with my feet up and there was no footstool or pouffe so I had to do a little rearranging of the furniture to get comfortable. Other than that, everything was wonderful and I would highly recommend.
Nicola
A lovely chapel in an amazing location, located up a single lane the property has so much history and character, the views from the rear garden are amazing and offer so much rest and relaxation. The hot tub is fantastic and we spent numerous hours relaxing in there. The local pub is only a short walk away, the food was delightful with very reasonable prices and the local shop which is attached to the pub is a little golden nugget and had everything you need and more. I stayed at the property with my partners parents and our two young children, the only real issue was the noise of the upstairs floorboards which I know cannot be altered due to the age of the property but may be a consideration for people with young familys. Overall the property is located in a peaceful and relaxing setting where you can sit back and recoup. Would highly recommend!!
Excellent quirky property. Had everything you might need. The owners have obviously put in a lot of thought. Lemon drizzle cake on arrival along with bread and milk was a nice touch. Shame we were unable to use decking area due to weather. Would love to return
Clifford
An outstanding residence with an obliging and helpful owner.
Debbie
We loved it here just the road and parking was a bit tight
Had a great holiday and lovely accommodation
Absolutely wonderful place full of character, great garden and hot tub. The walking nr by is lovely and the pub is welcoming serving great food too. Can't fault it, we had a great holiday.
Himali
It ticked every box for us a property of character, all the modern day comforts, with lovely garden space. We made good use of the bbq facilities as well the hot tub, and enjoyed the views of the vast open lands. Having the Owners owned local pub with a 3 mts walk was a bonus as the food was plentiful and generous, as was the hospitality.
Amanda
Beautiful character property with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of storage and comfortable in a pretty location. Plenty of towels provided and well stocked Kitchen. Lots of quirkyness and reminders of being a chapel, even the organ and hymn books! Hot tub is amazing and well needed after the walks and days out in the surrounding area. Didn't need to cook as local pub The Stiperstones Inn has good food and varied menu advise booking in advance as can get very busy and we went in Winter!. Locals very welcoming and friendly. Will definately be going back and would recommend.Owners Phil and Lara very accommodating as was all the staff and nothing was too much trouble.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Chapel. The property has been redeveloped to a good standard and the main area was a delight to relax in, especially with the log burner. Having the hot tub to relax in after a days walking was a real bonus. The Old Chapel is set in the beautiful Shropshire Hills with amazing views. The Stiperstones Inn just minutes away is warm and welcoming. The food was lovely and we found the staff and local drinkers very friendly. We will certainly go back again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hosts were lovely. Property very nice, lots of quirky touches. Cake, milk and bread very welcome. Definitely worth a visit.
Jonathan
The property suited us well it was warm and welcoming on arrival and equipped to a high standard. The location is peaceful and surrounded by beautiful hills and farmland and lots of footpaths. Local pub and shop both amazing
Rebecca
We enjoyed a fabulous family holiday, with older teens. The Old Chapel was a perfect location in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We did some great walks and runs, exploring locally. The cottage was perfect with a wonderful freshly baked cake on arrival and the hot tub in the evenings that looked out over the rolling hills was idyllic. Local pub did great food, too! Well be back!
Richard
Had a great time, lovely location everything as described, owners very helpful would recommend
With covid took 18 months to get there. Thank you to our hosts for sticking with our booking.
Suzanne
Second time at The Chapel and still as relaxing. The facilities are spot on abs the views from the hot tub are just what you need after lockdown! The cottage is ideally placed for walking and day trips to Shrewsbury and Ludlow to name a few. the Stiperstones Inn is on the door step and well worth a visit where you will receive a warm welcome!
Absolutely stunning cottage! It had EVERYTHING you could possibly need whike away we took all sorts of things we thought we might need for self catering but needn't have bothered as this beautuful place has it all. The owners run the pub, literally a couple of minutes away from the cottage, and were really lovely and helpful. Everything you need to know is in a welcome pack folder set out when you get there and they gave us all the essentials like milk, tea, bread all ready for us! If you run out of anything, there's a shop right next to the pub too. All rooms are beautifully presented the log burner is huge and a real bonus in the cold weather. The hot tub is amazing and is a 6 person one with plenty of room and views across the fields at the rear of the house. Beds are very comfy, bathrooms are gorgeous and all newly fitted. We had a couple of takeaways from the pub menu, and the food is great very reasonably priced! I could go on about this cottage for hours and we already plan to return next year. It's a hidden gem in a beautiful place... just WOW! Thanks to the owners and we will return as soon as we can
Nathan
A lovely cottage and we would definitely return
The Old Chapel is exactly what a holiday cottage should be. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is there. The under floor heating makes the whole place really cosy, especially with a fire in the log burner. The 'New for 2020' bathrooms are lovely and the bedrooms very comfortable. The large hot tub is an added bonus to unwind at the end of each day. The house has loads of character and is in a a very peaceful location. There are fantastic walks and bike rides from the door and the owners pub is a 2 minute walk as well as the local shop which is brilliant, stocks just about everything you will need. We are already planning a return visit and can highly recommend The Old Chapel.
Gaynor
The old Chapel was excellent, had everything we needed. Very friendly and efficient host, any issues dealt with promptly. Loved the hot tub and beautiful view from garden
What a fantastic cottage in a beautiful setting ! Phil and team really looked after us.
The Old Chapel is a beautiful house . The lay out is lovely . The big wood burner is perfect and the house is very clean . The hot tub is great and after a long day waking its welcomed . A lovely little holiday home . This was our second time here and it didnt disappoint at all .
The Old Chapel was a lovely place to stay a real home from home very comfortable and relaxing. Lovely views from the seating areas outside and no need to look any further for a good meal at good prices at the Stiperstones Inn just a short walk away. So nice was the chapel it was a shame to go out sightseeing but once again views were amazing either by foot or by car. We would not hesitate to visit again and the owners were very welcoming a wonderful way to celebrate our 43 wedding anniversary.
Beautiful property, quirky but comfortable and cosy. Beautiful garden and surrounding countryside. Hot tub was fabulous to relax in. The food in the pub also owned by the owners was fabulous. Could fault a thing although parking outside the chapel is a little challenging.
