Burnhill Derwent Cottage Reviews

Derwent Cottage is amazingly spacious and set in a wonderfully peaceful location. We had a fantastic week, making the most of the hot tub and seeing the local sites. Despite the remote location, the shops are surprisingly quick to get to. I'm keeping this place on my list to stay again in future.

We can't praise the owners enough. We had everything we needed in a spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable property. We had arranged for a caterer to set up for our Saturday evening and the owner opened up for us so we didn't have to return early from our day out. There's even a small, on-site shop the help with essentials. The views are amazing anRead mored the starry sky from the hot-tub was awesome. If there is a downside, it is quite remote, but within 30 mins if Durham so not too bad. Hide

Nice big cottage, plenty of seating areas, underfloor heating and a log burner. Hot tun was great but you need to know it is lit for you but you have to open the vents as well as throwing in plenty of wood otherwise it takes ages to heat up

We have used many holiday cottages over the years and this ranks among the very best. There was even a welcome pack for our 'well-behaved' dog, and the level of equipment was very high. It is nice to see a cottage properly kitted out and not full of the owners' cast-offs. It is in a lovely quiet location and reasonably convenient for Hadrian's WallRead more, Beamish Open Air Museum, Gibside and other attractions. Hide

Our stay in August at the Derwent was fabulous. The cottage was clean and had plenty of space for 5 adults and 2 dogs . All 3 bedrooms were en-suite. The hot tub was a lovely extra too. There were treats on arrival which were gluten free which was a lovely gesture. There was also a shop /hut on site for any little extras you may need Nothing was to o much trouble. Thank-you Jayne we will be back.
Susanne
Well appointed cottages, modern, spacious. and there is everything you could possibly need. Very helpful owners, who live just across the yard. The location can feel a little isolated, shops/pubs not reachable on foot. but there are walks right from the doorstep. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, which was out second holiday at this location

A fabulous stay in a beautiful holiday cottage. The accommodation was fantastic and of the very highest quality. The owner went above and beyond with gifts on arrival and an endless supply of logs for the hot tub and fire. The hot tub is amazing and was so tranquil whilst relaxing in an evening overlooking the fields around the farm. We could not h elp but switch off and relax in such a peaceful location. We would love to return in the future.

Robert
Fantastic place, very clean and a lot bigger than we expected, would be nice if there was a BBQ area, however plenty of room to eat inside and outside, would recommend, 3 adults and 3 grownup children in our party.
Kim
A fantastic property with plenty of space. Jayne was lovely and the cakes, flowers and starter pack were a lovely touch. Logs were included for the inside wood burner and for the wood-fired hot tub which was used every day. My son even learned to play the piano that is in the lounge while he was there. You need a car to be able to get anywhere but the property is only half an hour away from Beamish and also Durham. An amazing place to stay and very comfortable. Thanks to Jayne and the team.
