Don't need to say too much other than the cottage was superb, spotlessly clean, spacious, comfortable beautifully appointed with a high standard of fixtures and fittings, instant hot water, lovely showers. Just a cracking place to stay.
Irene
We loved staying in the cottage. It was very well equipped., clean and nicely decorated. It has everything you need and is situated in a very good location for exploring the western Lake District. The grump piano made it a very special experience for me as a piano player. We would recommend this cottage without any hesitation.
Sarah
Beautiful cottage, lots of modern conveniences, had absolutely everything provided that we needed. More secluded than some other properties in the Lake District, ideal for exploring some of the less well known areas.

We were really pleased with Kirkbank as a base for our holiday in Eskdale. Rarely have we encountered a self catering cottage with such a well equipped and organised kitchen (including sharp knives!). We appreciated the attention to quality (especially beds, bedding, bathrooms, lighting) and also the artistic flair of the interior design.
Mandy
Excellent cottage. One of the best weve ever had!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kirkbank. The property has been upgraded in a very tasteful way. There is a good amount of living space and we had a group of 8 at the house. Highly recommend the Bower House Inn just down the road for a beer or evening meal as well. We would gladly come back to Kirkbank again.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 14 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 16 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 18 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 20 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 26 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 28 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
