Alnwick has lots of lovely places to eat and so much to explore all within walking distance. The site has a number of properties and would be great for a large family or friends gathering. The hot tub at the Retreat, where we stayed, isn't covered which meant we didn't use it as we had rain at times. We highly recommend staying at this property!

Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops. Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines. You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
