10 Duck Lagoon Reviews

Beautiful log cabin
Myself, my partner and 2 year old daughter along with my sisters family (2 adults and 2 children) have just returned from a fabulous weekend at 10 Duck lake. After reading some of the reviews before our arrival I must admit I was slightly apprehensive but our experience couldn?t have been better. The cabin is so quirky and cosey and has a fabulous view overlooking the lake. The hot tub is a really nice size and plenty of decking and grass area at the back of the cabin where we wrapped up with some of the blankets and enjoyed a few drinks in the evening. The host was so welcoming and helpful and the cabin was absolutely spotless when we arrived. Thanks again for providing us such a wonderful cabin and we will defffinetly be coming back in the future!
Halloween house for Xmas
Having arrived with anticipation of a well Needed break we arrived to a dark and dirty property. We soon realised we had made a mistake soon as we had a look around the property and thought OMG it?s not been cleaned. No heating or hot water. Spoke to the owner who tried to get work services out but we soon realised that we had no gas as both gas bottles were empty. This was only rectified by a friend having a spare gas bottle on one of his properties on site, otherwise we would have no gas until the following day. The following points was picked up below and these are not isolated incidents ? just keep away. The owner gave us ?200 pound for a gesture of good will ? we left two days early. 1) Pull out sofa bed. Bottom sheet not washed, food stains as well as other food and mice droppings found in base of sofa. ( requires cleaning ) 2) sofa throws covered in hot chocolate. ( rewashed by customer) 3) bedding left in cubby hole not clean and needed to be washed. 4) Kitchen area - fridge needs a deep clean as smells rotten also missing plastic door storage. Pans broken with no handle. Not enough cutlery for amount of people it should sleep. Bins left with rubbish in them. Kitchen door handing off. General cleanliness in that area, cob webs on lights curtains through out dirty and stained. 5) broken chair left behind cupboards at top of stairs. Broken door panel left on decking lent up against rear double door entrance on decking. Old decking panels left in a pile on mud and debris next to decking. 6) towels just folded but left on the floor again needed washing. 7) sweet wrappers and other items left under bed and drawers. 8) bed throws and rugs have sweets embedded in them. 9) showers - main operating tap unit comes away from surface area. 10) all surfaces through out the property had stains from spilt drinks ie furniture in bedrooms, mirrors, windows. 11) the whole property needs a dusting especially in the utility room that is rich in cobwebs. 12) Freezer missing plastic draw. 13) no gas at property on arrival. You stated it was replaced 9 days to us arriving we was informed it was in fact 19 days. 14) Hot tub not working properly. Not heating properly. 15) WIFI non existent.
Lodge from Hell
Where do I start? Sykes contacted us to inform us that the owner had contacted them to inform us that the previous guests had broken bed legs, tv stand and the tv remote but confirmed the tv stand would be fixed prior to our arrival, it wasnt, not only this but the remote didnt work either resulting in the owner telling us we had to download an app to our phones to control the tv which wasnt possible due to the non existant wifi. The property was filthy on arrival, previous guests dirty sponges and tea towels had been left. The fridge was vile and smelt like dog food had been stored in there, we had to go out and buy cleaning products to clean the property. Dust and cobwebs everywhere, hair in shower trap, windows filthy, chairs and boxes broken with nails and sharp wood sticking out. No amount of bleach could get rid of the smell of the fridge. We couldnt use the hot tub for first two days as it was not up to temperature and the engineer came out and confirmed it had a fault and went into sleep mode so would need another 8 hours to reach temperature. The doors do not open or close properly as they are in such disrepair, the maintenace chap did come out straight away and said that he had countless complaints about it and they are nackered. The oven was filthy and bath mat had someones dirty foot print on it. The property is in very poor state, boards outside split with nails causing health and safety hazard, rotting wood supports, the doors and windows do not open or close properly. Saturday morning at 3am the smoke alarm went off for no reason, it is in an unreachable position so had to hit it with a tea towel and it fell, then couldnt be fixed. I apologised to the owner who was fine but said he wouldnt replace it until friday when we left. Not very happy sleeping in a log wooden cabin with no smoke detector??!! My son ended up in hospital for 2 days after injurying his neck on the aqua park thankfully he is ok but a very sad end to a holiday and property from hell. I contacted Sykes to air our dissapointment who then advised that owner blamed us for the broken items which he admitted where caused by the previous guests and that we had left the hot tub filty, considering we used it for 10 mins twice and that was the cleanest thing in the place is extreamley disresepctful. I contacted the owner myself who then denied all knowledge that it was us who broke things and offered a mere ?50 compensation for the diabolicle state of the lodge, if anyone thinks that this place is clean then maybe i am from another planet!! To make matters worse he then said that we had never informed him that the place was unclean, i have text messages to that effect. This owner doesnt care about the property, nor its guests, just happy to charge an extortinate amount of money for a accident waiting to happen, Our advice, chose a cardboard box, you would have a much better stay!!
Fabulous!!
Having read all these negative reviews about this beautiful log cabin I feel obliged to provide a more balanced and honest review based on an overwhelmingly enjoyable holiday. On arrival at the log cabin we received a welcome text from the owner welcoming us and providing some key info about the cabin. The owner acknowledged that there was some issues with some of the wood rotting in a small section of the decking area but due to COVID the repair was put back. This didn?t interfere with us at all, in fact had we not been informed we probably wouldn?t have noticed. The cabin itself was lovely and very traditional, we found the cabin to be clean, warm and homely. WiFi and TV worked fine for us and the hot tub was amazing, the kids were in it most of the time. The cabin is in close proximity to the entertainment centre and located just off the lake, beautiful scenes in the morning and evening from the balcony. Overall we had an absolutely lovely holiday, we used the kitchen to cook breakfast and lunch and we dined out most evenings at the local pub around the corner. Tattershall lakes is a lovely destination to visit with adults and children and this cabin really made our trip complete! Thanks so much 10 Duck Lake - we have already booked again for 2022!
Not covid safe - death trap and filthy
If i could give this 0 stars i would. I have stayed in numerous lodges at Tattershall and this is the worst by far. It was so dirty on arrival, dust everywhere. Blood on pillowcases, bedding was dirty. We had to go and buy more. There is a disconnected water pipe outside and every time you use the dishwasher or sink the water pours all over the electrics. I contacted Sykes straight away and was told it would be fixed and someone would be straight out. Never happened! A cleaner arrived 3 days later with bedding but we had already bought our own. A rotting wooden pillar outside fell on my husband. The doors to outside don't shut, the hinges are hanging off. Others have commented in 2020 the tv doesn't work (it still doesn't) the light doesn't work (still not fixed) Birds nesting above the hot tub means bird poo all over the cover and in the tub when you use it. Cleaner said she had told the owner numerous times. There is no literature anywhere on who to contact, how to use the hot tub etc The carpets are absolutely grim, full of dust as is all the internal wood Save your money and book elsewhere, the owner should be ashamed and obviously doesn't care. I have never felt so unsafe during a holiday and certainly am chasing for a refund as its just awful! I
Disappointed!!
Not really much for writing reviews. When we arrived we were greeted by courteous site staff. Lodge was ok, but in need of a deep clean. No welcome/ info pack. WiFi pretty much non existent. Overnight the gas ran out, made contact and was eventually rectified 8-9 hours after initial contact. Finally our break was cut short by 2 days, due to being asked to leave site due to national lockdown, owners unwilling to reimburse for either lost days or 8+ hours with no gas. Avoid!!
Do not recommend!!!
These are the pictures of what we was faced with when we first entered the log cabin. I will also add... the windows are filthy and need a good clean. There was also weeks worth of crumbs underneath the cushions upstairs. There was no bulb in the master bedroom. So sad to be leaving such an awful review on a log cabin which could have so much potential.
Under whelmed stay
On arrival , the staff to the park were courteous and helpful , we have been impressed throughout the stay, even though we booked through an agency for a private let. The owner had clearly not read the same paperwork as us about changes due to COVID 19 as all cushions and coverings were still in place. Whilst the bathrooms were spotless , I cannot say the same for the rest of the property. Perhaps we have been used to having value for money from all our previous lets and that is why we are so underwhelmed . No appliances had any accompanying instruction booklets , the WIFI that was advertised was poor and intermittent and no access to the internet - something my grandchildren needed to continue with their school work! It only worked if we kept the television on as well. The TV in the master bedroom would not work. There were no locks that worked on any bathroom door, some doors wouldn`t even shut properly. The heating was still set to come on at what seemed like 24 hours a day. Only enough crockery for 7/8 people and only if you washed them by hand mostly as to use them during the day and putting in the dishwasher meant no crockery!! No plug or bowl in the kitchen sink - poor storage, tired kitchen units. Lack of nonslip covering around the hot tub. No instructions on the use of the hot tub which was set at 41 C and as a result we had to wait 24 hours for it to cool enough to use. Missing drawer in the freezer which had seen better days and needed defrosting. Thin cheap towels , thankfully due to Covid 19 we had brought our own. We were so glad we could supplement items lacking with things we had in our camper van otherwise it would have been a very miserable week. In conclusion , I feel for all those hopeful families following us who paid a lot of money that they can see past the property failings in a time when we all need something positive. This is the first time I have ever posted a negative review so feel very sad. Owners you need to stay in your property and then refurbish it to expected standards to justify the prices you expect.
Had a fantastic stay at 10 duck lagoon. everything was as described and was nice and clean. great location if you like fishing with its own peg. im not a fisherman so not sure how good it is. the log cabin is about a 10 minute walk to the facilities or a 5 minite walk up the gully to the pub. my only complaint is the cost of the passes just to get access to the pool and clubhouse as everything else seems to be chargable once your in there. price of passes are nothing to do with the lodge owner, these are dictated by away resorts. i would imagine it be very busy in main season also and it is a small pool. jacuzzi was small compared to others but i personly found it better and more comfortable to sit in than the big square ones. will hopefully be back sometime soon. ps. this is a proper log cabin not like others that claim to be, and then look like a caravan inside.
There are many issues with this lodge before its safe to rent out again . The front door is a struggle to lock unlock The decking is full of uneven flooring, with nails sticking out making it very dangerous . The decking is not finished causing splinters . There is a terrible smell coming from the fridge end of the kitchen , its smells like sour milk and is very unpleasant on a warm day . The rest of the lodge is beautiful with lovely bedrooms and ensuite , but sadly let down by the outside area being un safe , un finished and very uninviting .
Victoria
Had a wonderful stay, very clean lodge and had absolutely everything we needed except WiFi. That would be the only thing I think needs adding.
Johnathan
What a beautiful log cabin. Everything provided, it was truely like a home from home holiday. When arrived and opened the door our first reaction was wow this is beautiful. Spacious, clean apart from the odd cobweb and bugs bare in mind you are next to the lake so bugs to be expected mainly when doors are open. Comfortable beds, clean towels, washer, a fan which came in handy with the hot weather . Internal doors don't all fully shut, however they did push to, not an issue for my family. No WiFi in the cabin. However, could connect to the sites WiFi. Also, I got 5g, so again, it's not a problem. Owner absolutely fantastic at responding and acting if anything is required. I asked for the hot tub to be cleaned due to leaves from trees falling into it. The next morning it was cleaned. I definitely recommend this log cabin I will be looking to book again. Thanks again to the owner Mike who was so helpful before and during our stay.
Michael
Nice accommodation but sadly, let down by the over whelming need for a deep clean and investment in a full maintenance plan or even the basic inspection and repair. On arrival I texted the owner to advise him that it as though there had been an attempted break in, door hinges were in a poor state as were the doors and locks at ground level. The reply was that new doors were enroute but the same problem had been commented on in August 2021in other reviews, we could only use the main door to access or leave the property and even then was a struggle to lock and unlock. I could go on as there was so much that needed doing in the property and also on the fishing peg outside the property with overhanging branches and lost tackle of floats, hooks and leadshot. I also asked about internet access and was told it had been removed due to poor signal quality yet both properties either side appeared to have no issues. All in all the accommodation was disappointing and with a measure of investment of time and TLC, and not just the surface clean and minimal effort to prepare the property following occupation of holiday families. Would we come again? To the park yes but sadly not to Duck Lodge, even the BBQ needed emptying and cleaning before it could be used and the information folder of little help other than for a takeaway listing. Furnishings could also do with updating or some TLC, enough said I think
The best place to stay with family and friends pet friendly . We all loved our stay! We felt very comfortable, safe, and it was very clean. The location was more beautiful than pictures show. Communication FANTASTIC Host was AMAZING! Highly recommended
Brilliant lodge and great scenery would highly recommend

We had a lovely stay at 10 Duck Lake, the property itself sits on a lovely tranquil lake that has geese on which come up to your door. The lodge itself is upside down, so we spent many mornings waking up and opening our doors and sitting out on the decking watching the Typhoons take off from RAF Conningsby. There are three bedrooms at 10 Duck Lake, one double bedroom with an ensuite and two twin rooms, one is attached to a Jack and Jill bathroom. There was a slight sour milk smell in the kitchen and no cleaning products but it was fine as we bought some with us. There's a BBQ at the property, but you need to bring your own charcoal etc to light it. The park has some lovely facilities for all the family and the main complex is a 10 minute walk away. We played mini golf and went to the outdoor lido and had spa treatments by the indoor pool. We also visited the Spitfire bar for lunch and Bar Forty Nine overlooks the Water Ski lake and would have cocktails of an evening and they do small breakfasts in the morning. The Propeller restaurant does nice food with a good choice for vegans and vegetarians. There's lots to do on the park if you purchase an entertainment pass via the owner, they're 25pp but worth it for the amount of activities you can do. Some activities are extra on top of your pass, such as mini golf, pedalo, bikes etc. Skegness is a 40 minute drive away and has lots to do for all the family. We went to the beach and had fish and chips, but there's a few fairs, mini golf a seal sanctuary there too. We can't wait to book again as the park and property is lovely and although we stayed a week, it wasn't enough time to do all the activities we wanted to!
Maxine
Amazing lodge loved it. Great views of the lake, lovely rooms and all the facilities you need. Will definitely rebook and cant wait
Leonie
The cabin was absolutely perfect for my 50th birthday celebration with the girls, we total chilled out sitting in the hot tub looking out over the little lake. The cabin was really comfortable and clean with all the mod cons. The owner was very helpful when we contacted him with regards to a few things we weren't sure of. The whole park was very clean and tidy and we'll maintained.Would highly recommend and would love to visit again.

We had a fabulous time at 10 duck lake , the fishing was a little disappointing but the lodge was wonderful , a few more pots and pans would have been helpful but we managed , the site has all you could want although a little expensive especially after having to purchase the passes but all in all a great week and was a wonderful base to celebrate my 50th birthday , great times with great friends and family , thank you x
Well where do I start, not enough space here to write hoe disgusting and tatty the lodge was. Very very disappointed and came home 3 days earlier.
Sharon
Very supportive owner. ..prompt at answering and solving problems... location was excellent and the property was well maintained and clean. The only downside was locating the property as there wasn't much help from the staff however it was dark. But overall an excellent stay and will return without a doubt!

Amazing stay , very clean and enjoyable! !! Will definitely be returning.

A lot of things in the cabin still need fixing and the whole place is in need of a deep clean inside and out.
The property is in the need of a deep clean inside and out. Fishing peg broken, no TV aerial in master bedroom, cooker broken the list is endless. After having contact with yourselves it was agreed the owner would ask maintenance team to rectify issues. No maintenance appeared all week. I emailed you numerous times to update you on situation. You never had the courtesy to reply after promising you would keep me informed. Total disgrace!!
This is a lovely lodge and the owner was really helpful with any questions we had.

Rushmoor Country Park - GU10 1ET
about 21 Miles
Located in Louth in Lincolnshire this is an ideal attraction when you want to get out in the fresh air and explore. There are many animals to see including ponies and piglets which the little ones love.  There are also some amazing birds from hawks and falcons to owls.  Most aspects of this attraction are included in the admission cost and as well as wandering around you get to hold and feed the animals too.  A real highlight are the micro pigs which are just like real pigs but in miniature.  Fully grown they are around the size of a spaniel!  If you get hungry then you can take your own picnic to the picnic areas or head for the tea room selling delicious food and children's meals too.
Natureland Seal Sanctuary - PE25 1DB
about 22 Miles
Awarded the Lincolnshire Family Attraction of the Year award in recent years this fun day out is recommended. You can see seals and penguins, as well as other animals in the popular pets corner.  Feeding time for the seals and penguins is the real highlight of the day. Entertainment, education and conservation are the main aims of this attraction. Natureland's work with abandoned baby seals has become known worldwide and it's carefully researched rearing and treatment program is now used by many other rescue centres.
