Waveney Cottage Reviews

Lindsey
We stayed for a long weekend this November which wasn't long enough, we didn't want to leave. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and well equipped. The Garden and surrounding areas are also amazing. I particularly loved all of the little vintage touches around the cottage in particular the kitchen. The cottage was also dressed for the season with lots of little Autumnal decorations. Absolutely stunning!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This a beautiful property, really well equipped with a lovely large secure garden. We loved the hot tub and the area was very peaceful but with enough to do close by. Would highly recommend.
We stayed at this beautiful cottage in August 2023, and found it to be everything the pictures promised and more We would like to thank the owner for her great communication and prompt responses to our questions, the provision of all the little touches and supplies that make such a stay memorable were spot on. . The use of the always on Aga was a delight and we had lovely freshly ironed clothes from Ms Aga each day My wife loved walking the surrounding fields nearby, the view out the breakfast room across the paddocks was a joy to us The local town of Harleston is close by and is charming and the local coop, medical centre, barbers and cafes teashop were all useful during our stay..
This is our third visit in seven months, that should say it all really. In our opinion this cottage is perfect and it is in a perfect location. Each time we have stayed here we have not wanted to leave, the cottage is so beautiful. Each time we have stayed Sally has left us the most wonderful welcome pack of local produce and lovely flowers. Thank you Sally. We cannot wait to return. Kind regards Alan & Diane

We had a wonderful week at Waveney cottage, it is such a beautiful place and contains every thing that you could possibly need for your stay. Very quiet and Relaxing.
Very much enjoyed our stay in a lovely thatched cottage.

Lovely location, sighted several hares during our stay. Very nice cottage and garden.

Fabulous property, couldn't ask for any more. ..location great, quiet, peaceful very relaxing. Cottage so well equipped with everything you could need or wish for...we tackled some cooking on the AGA which was great fun...yes if you have mobility issues the stairs are a bit of a challenge and yes in the middle of the night on a toilet visit you may well bump your head on a low door but it's a 16th Century thatched cottage and a fantastic piece of history. We will definitely book again....Sally the owner was available for assistance and very helpful.
The cottage was spotless, very well maintained and comfortable. A lovely cosy place to relax and enjoy a break. Great location too! The owner was on the ball with communications too. The listing should be clearer about the staircase though. I had an older giant breed dog who just could not physically do the steep stairs. I imagine that mobility challenged folk would also struggle.
A lovely cottage full of character. Decorated to high standard. Tastefully furnished. Fully equipped for 4 people. The cottage is a historic property but equipped with all modern facilities. A fair sized enclosed garden for dogs. Good quiet location within easy reach to walks and tourist attractions in the area. The hot tub is maintained at right temperature at all times. I highly recommend this property.

We all enjoyed our week at Waveney cottage despite the weather not being very good. The cottage is furnished to a high standard and very comfortable and it is in a very peaceful location. However, we were a little confused by the Aga as the original description stated an Aga, electric oven and hob so we thought we had an alternative and booked the property on that basis which was a bit misleading. However, we conquered the Aga. We would have appreciated a warning about the tricky staircase and low beam. It is not safe or suitable for elderly people, our age group was 7585 with varying mobility problems. In other words we would not have booked the cottage on that basis. I think that a mention about this should be added In the description as it is a very important point. Also, the smaller bedroom ensuite toilet did not function properly. We were aware of the age of property and that it was listed and operated on LPG energy and in fact were very impressed by the spaciousness. The welcome package was very generous and the owner had gone to great lengths to make us comfortable, but had we known the disadvantages for our age group we would not have committed to it.
We had a wonderful Christmas at Waveney Cottage, 7 nights from 22122022. This cottage is furnished to the very highest of standards and is beautifully decorated, and also had two lovely Christmas Trees for our holiday. Everything in this cottage was spotlessly clean, every item you require and more is supplied. Bedding & towels are of the very highest quality. Thank you Sally for the most overwhelming welcome pack. We are already looking to return soon. Kind regards Alan & Diane Cheshire.

Would be nice to have a slow cooker and a air fryer more mugs and plates then ... Would be nice to have a slow cooker and a air fryer more mugs and plates then the dishwasher could go on less welcome pack was excellent
The cottage has bundles of charm and is very comfortable, the aga is lovely to cook on,and the hot tub was brilliant to chat and relax in. The bed was very comfortable all in all a brilliant property to stay in. Many thanks to Sally and Caroline for a wonderful week.

Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 12 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 15 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 17 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 19 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 20 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 23 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 23 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Ickworth House, Park & Gardens - IP29 5QE

The site also has a family friendly cycle route a gift shop and a small café
