It was a perfect place for us to stay! We will definitely be back. Everything was lovely from the house, the location, the hosts. Highlights The welcome pack was great. The hot tub. The games room. The garden. The aga! Thank you so much.
Brilliant! Mill Farm was ideal for our annual family get together. We played snooker, enjoyed the hot tub, cooked good food, enjoyed the garden the play area was great for the children and found the house very spacious, warm and comfortable. Beds were very comfy and bathroom provision was excellent. The local pub two minutes walk provided excellent food and drink. You could not wish for a better house for a family get together.
Lovely cottage in lovely surroundings. Facilities brilliant and spotless clean. Owner and staff very friendly and inviting. We have hired many such properties over the years but this is the best yet and will Im sure return with our family for our yearly get together
Sophie
Mill Farm was a home away from home, and perfect for a preChristmas gettogether for family members ranging from age 0 to 70 not to mention the dog and kitten! . The house is warm and comfortable, with plenty of different spaces for folk to eat, chill out, play games etc. Everybody enjoyed the hot tub and snooker table, while the kids loved using the outdoor play equipment. There were also plenty of games and books to dip into. We really appreciated the festive decorations and the welcome goodies. We didnt feel the need to venture far from the house, but enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch at The Swan. Some of us had a pleasant stroll at Calke Abbey, while others explored nearby towns and the surrounding countryside. All in all, a fantastic and memorable stay thank you!
The house was amazing, we had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. The hot tub and snooker room took the facilities to another level, we also enjoyed a delicious meal at The Swan and a very enjoyable Sunday evening withe the live music there.

Mill Farm is such an amazing place for a family stay! Everything it has to offer lives way above expectations, and the surroundings and comforts all lead to a unique and wholesome experience. We went as a party of 8 family for joint birthdays mum's and mine whilst we were there and the space, the coziness, the fires and the wild life on the grounds, helped build memories for a life time. If there was anything that was needed, the hosts were more than willing to be on hand with a smile! A must for amazing get away, and we're already planning out next!
This property is beautiful, very comfortable and has all the details you need for a break away. It is extremely clean and the amenities are first class. The owner is lovely and friendly and available should you need anything. Its the best property weve stayed at as a family and is highly recommended.
Everything you could wish for and more. The property easily catered for our family gathering 10 people with the hot tub and snooker table particularly popular as were the grounds. Our host was very helpful particularly in getting people around the floods!
Frances
We had a lovely stay as a group of couples and young children. The garden was fabulous and house had everything we needed. Nice location with lots of walks and pubs nearby. Would definitely recommend.
Beautiful spacious character property well located in a very interesting part of the country. Within walking distance of a great pub and easy access to many tourist attractions. Wonderful welcome from Mandy the housekeeper and a total service orientation focused on making our group's stay excellent. The property is very well maintained, clean and with beautiful gardens and very nice surroundings and furnishings. We will try to get back soon!
Mill Farm is a great place to stay. Plenty of room inside and outside to roam. Dave was on hand if we needed anything. I would throughly recommend this place to anyone from both a value of money perspective and a nice relaxing break. It comes with a heated hot tub, gas BBQ, board games and outdoor games equipment as well such as croquet, cricket and tennis rackets.
This was the best property we've stayed in. There was no downside, words can't even. The property was stunning and so clean. The gardens were immaculate. The hottub was awesome and we played snooker or at least tried to
Christine
We all enjoyed a family staycation in the lovely Mill Farm with 3 generations dog having a lovely time. The younger ones loved the hot tub day and night, in sunshine and rain. We had croquet and snooker tournaments, played lots of games, long walks and visited local National Trust places. The Swan and the Bulls Head were both great and we enjoyed the cream tea thoughtfully provided. Dave kept the huge garden beautifully and ever little nook and cranny were a pleasure to sit in. The house was very much a family home and very comfortable. The only thing that could have made it any better was possibly an ensuite but in an older house I understand how that may not be possible. We thank Dave for his hospitality and wish him well and hope he gets to Australia soon.
Beautiful house, very comfortable and had everything we needed. The gardens are extensive and beautifully kept, plenty of space for kids and dogs to run around. Pictures don't do the property justice. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise. Our host David was very welcoming and we had some lovely chats. Our young Grandaughter named him 'Tractor Dave' as he has a sit on lawn mower which he travels around the grounds on. The hot tub, games room and kids play area was a hit across all the different ages of our group. Access to walks close by including Foremark reservoir which has different length walks a cafe and a large kids playarea. Calke Abbey worth a visit, literally up the road, where we spent about 4 hours! The local pub The Swan, which was within 5 minutes walk was dog and child friendly. Does a Sunday roast and the rest of the week is Tapas meals. We are hoping to return at some point in the future. The Nicholls Family.
Daniel
A group of friends stayed for a weekend. The property is fantastic with well maintained grounds. Its a lovely big house perfect for catching up as a big group. The host was very welcoming and close by to help answer questions. There's a great pub a short walk away too for refreshments. Will definitely consider booking this property again.
Richard
I booked Mill Farm for a family celebration from arrival to departure we could not have been better cared for. The property was spotless and even better than the photographs it was perfect. Thank you David for our stay.
Elizabeth
Just perfect
Wow, what a beautiful house & gardens! We had a fantastic weekend staying at Mill Farm and couldnt have been happier with it. We all agreed that the pictures didnt do it justice and we didnt want to leave at the end of our stay.
Jacqui
Fabulous house and grounds in a great location. Just perfect for a family get together. Great garden with plenty of space for children to run and play. Well equipped with trampoline, swings and zip line too. Adults can relax in the hot tub or chill out in the bar area over a game of pool in the games room. Some lovely walks around the area and local pub with good food. What more could you ask for. Just great to spend quality time with family or friends.
Lovely property, the pictures don't do it justice. Once we arrived it was so much better than we expected. The house was amazing, the grounds we beautiful. All the beds were comfy, the hot tub was amazing and fitted 8 of us in. The owner was so lovely and welcoming. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay, would recommend highly. We will be booking again.
Stephanie
I wanted a property that would enable my family including my dog, to gather together in one place in comfort in a picturesque setting. That is exactly what we got, along with the most welcoming of hosts in David. I wasnt sure about the time of year when booking the break in January but it was spectacular frosty scenery and the house was so cozy and warm. We had a wonderful time and I most certainly will be back.
As perfect the second time as the first.
Oliver
Absolutely beautiful place to stay the house, the grounds and the local area are perfect.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Mill Farm. What a stunning setting! Beautiful gardens and an immaculate family home. Attention to detail was way beyond our expectations! Thank you David and Team for a fabulous few days. We loved it so much, weve booked for next year! Jane & Friends xx
A superb farmhouse that is brilliantly equipped and fitted to a very high standard. Unusual to have such a generous supply of firewood, and quality arrival gifts. The owner lives next door, and was both delightfully helpful and respective of our privacy. The local pub, only 5 minutes walk away, was notably hospitable. With a variety of interesting walks nearby and the Peak District a little further afield, sports facilities at Repton School and its own extensive grounds, this wonderful property far exceeded our expectations.
Maxine
Absolutely Amazing Farmhouse with everything you could want or need inside! Superb gardens which seem to go on forever, all beautifully maintained! So much freedom for our dogs who lived their best life. Dave the owner is such a wonderful friendly gentleman always on hand if needed, & Mandy & the cleaning staff leave the Farmhouse spotless ready for your stay, with a very generous welcome pack waiting for you! All in all we had a wonderful weekend celebrating our Sons 30th & we all cant wait to return!! Thank you so much, we have created some amazing memories in your wonderful Farmhouse!
Elizabeth
We had a wonderful family celebration at Mill Farm. The grounds and cottage are beautiful, comfortable and extremely well looked after. It felt like a home from home. We were particularly grateful to the owners for looking after our elderly parents when they arrived having broken down on route. Their kindness and help was much appreciated. We would certainly return again.
Leslie Graham
Absolutely fabulous house and very large garden. Accommodated 7adults 3 children and two dogs with ease. Trampoline swings zip wire which kept the kids entertained whilst the adults enjoyed the superb hot tub. David the owner is a very friendly guy who couldnt do enough for us. Highly recommended would definitely go back again sometime.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Thank you all so much. We have had a fantastic week, firstly with our family over the weekend, and then with friends. The house and grounds are spectacular and we have enjoyed exploring it all. Our grandchildren loved the playground and zip wire and adults enjoyed boule and croquet but the snooker table and hot tub were a massive hit with everyone. We visited Foremark Reservoir and Staunton Harold reservoir good for walks, coffee, ice creams and great playgrounds for the little ones. We had drinks at local pubs and a meal at the Mount Pleasant but spent lots of our time enjoying the house and grounds it was great to be able to spread out in all the rooms. The house was spotlessly clean on our arrival all credit to Mandy and her team. Beds were comfy, towels fluffy and the welcome pack was a very pleasant surprise and a lovely touch thank you! The highlight of the week was meeting David who has been an amazing host throughout. He is so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We have loved chatting to him and hearing all about his farming past, the history of Mill Farm and his family. We take away a week of amazing memories and special time spent with family and friends and definitely hope to return again some time next year. Many thanks David and Mandy and take care of yourself David! Beverley, Dave, Rob, Lorna, Oscar, Arthur, Mike, Vicky, Amelia, Alfie and James Freer and Rufus the dog. Also Tracey and Michael Hughes and Barry and Ruth Seward xxx
What a fantastic week we all had 6 adults and 4 children aged from 4 to 9 they had the time of their lives in the garden which was huge the zipline and swings kept them entertained, also our family dog as his a very active dog loved the garden. The youngest Alexander took to David with his grass cutter. David was always on hand if we needed any help or information he was the perfect host. Mile farm has great character and is in a perfect location very close to the village and pub, Mile farm was perfect for our needs, it was clean, comfortable, and good kitchen with all the facilities. Very sad our holiday came to an end and love to come back sometime in the future. Thanks, David for the perfect holiday.
Richard
Mill Farm was amazing. Location was perfect and Dave the owner was a wonderful host. The play area was perfect for the kids and the large gardens was perfect for the dogs. With three generations and ages from 78 to 6 there was something for everyone. The house was lovely, the kitchen was a perfect meeting point for everyone including the dogs. The house had great character, clean on arrival, and all the needed cleaning materials to keep it that way throughout the week. Virgin tv throughout so everyone happy with kids programmes through to the football! Great pubs near by and great take always. I have nothing negative, and again the owner Dave just added to the experience, if you book take the time to say hi he will make your stay even better!
A fantastic home, brilliant facilities, Dave and Mandy the host , were unbelievable , so helpful and kind. spent at least three days at the house enjoying the hot tub ,snooker room, books to read and the gardens. Didn't want to leave ! Already told friends and families about this amazing property. Thank you for a lovely week. All eight of us , and the dog, had a relaxing family holiday , our first after 2 years together,.
Shirley
We had a great week here. David is always on hand if you need anything. The pictures do not show how big the gardens actually are. The hot tub and snooker table are amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed them. There were 7 of us staying and all felt that we had our own space as the house is very spacious. We have a 5 year old in our party and she did not stop the whole week as there was so much for her to see and enjoy. The park with zipline was so much fun. Would love to return at another time.
Angela
Absolutely fantastic! !!!!!!
We had an amazing time in Mill Farm, the house and grounds are stunning and really well maintained by the owner David and Mandy who were lovelyhelpful thank you both! We spent a lot of time in the garden playing catch and cricketrounders. The hot tub was an awesome big plus for both the adults and kids we ended up staying in more than we planned to as so much to do in the place. With a 6 year old, 10 year old and 14 year old and a grandma with us the big perk was the playground area garden. Gardens are huge can go for lovely walks. All secluded and felt safe with kids playing outside. It has a zipline which was a big hit, trampoline, 4 swings and seesaw etc. Also has a snooker table, lots of gamesbooks. The grounds are huge and great for walks there is also a public footpath in front of the house fence taking you behind Repton school for a longer walk. We went fruit picking in Scaddows Farm nearby which was a lovely place with delicious fruit to pick. Kitchen has everything you need equipment wise. Advice to anyone going is 1 do not put the postcode in satnav as it took us to two differentwrong places in Repton. Type in Milton Derbyshire instead, which took us to the correct Main St in Milton after no 29 Main st is a red phone box turn left directly after. 2 take a hair dryer if you need one but it has everything else ironironing board etc.
Absolutely fantastic property & host was very welcoming & informative will ... Absolutely fantastic property & host was very welcoming & informative will definitely be returning so much space with an amazing garden
Natalie
Absolutely amazing holiday. We stayed for my husband and twin sisters 30th birthdays a family of 8 of all ages from 7 weeks to 75 and there was something there for everyone and we never felt on top of eachother. House was exceptionally clean and the views around the garden and from the hot tub were perfect. Dave the owner was a pleasure to meet and we cannot wait to go back, even better than the photos.
