Netherfield Cottage Reviews

We had a wonderful stay at Netherfield Cottage. Loved the hot tub especially when it snowed!! It felt a bit awkward walking through the owners garden to get to the cottage but they were great and we would have loved to meet the dogs.
Matthew
Absolutely fantastic property, the owner Karen had thought of everything down to the smallest detail. Would recommend this property to anyone !!! Lovely location to relax and unwind but still close enough to plenty of shops if needed. The information pack provided by email was also spot on and very helpful. If I could score more than 10 I would
Charlotte
We had a lovely stay at Netherfield Cottage, the cottage had every thing we could need. The cottage was very clean, warm and welcoming. The hot tub really was a treat, and the owner really thought of all the extra touches such as the robes and pool towels. We enjoyed our stay so much we are returning next year!
Netherfield Cottage is very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The owners are very friendly and not at all intrusive. We had an excellent week there and would not hesitate to stay again.
Highly maintained property. Beautifully kept. Lovely garden area and excellent hot Tub. Very quiet and relaxing. Karen and Volin the owners are lovely, very welcoming and friendly. I will be returning. It was a brilliant week spent there with our two friends to celebrate my Husbands birthday.
The house was amazing. Had everything we needed. Used to cottages that just about have enough of everything. This cottage had more than enough. Would stay again when we holiday in Derbyshire.
Philip
We enjoyed our weekend at Netherfield cottage, everything we needed was provided and would gladly recommend
Nicola
We had a lovely week at Netherfield cottage . Some of the points other holiday makers made were valid but we would definitely go again as the other guests stated. We were pleased that we ignored the negative points when looking for somewhere to go. All in all we had a fabulous restful break. We both loved the bifold doors, when fully opened it provided lovely spot to chill out and enjoy the morning sun with a cuppa. Hot tub was situated in the perfect place and the gas bbq was also a bonus. Both owners and Dogs were friendly and plenty of tea, coffee, sugar , loo roll was provided to last the week. Thank you.
A delightful, comfortable, wellequipped house. Only lapse was lack of kitchen knives that were sharp enough to use. An inexpensive 3 knife set from Poundland or Tesco would have done well, and replacing them every 6 months would not represent a big expense to the landlord. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Dogs delightful and owners are extremely conscious of keeping dogs away from guests unless guests ask to see them. Owners are very prompt in handling any requests. Double check the location there are 2 Pilsleys in Derbyshire. You do hear road noise but that did not bother us at all. Lovely walks on your doorstep. Appreciated the hot tub. Very functional kitchen and living room and lovely outdoor space, the best we have ever had in any UK holiday rental.
Stephanie
Amazing stay. Thank you!
Heather
Beautiful cottage, decorated to a really high standard. Was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Garden was private and hot tub was perfect! Had a really enjoyable weekend and would definitely recommend and stay again.
Fantastic stay in a very warm house. Beautifully presented and loads of space. Very clean. Welcome pack a nice surprise. Great outdoor space and large hot tub Would visit again
Nicola
Lovely holiday let. Plenty of space and lovely welcome pack left by the host. Lots of information provided on places to go and eating establishments which proved really helpful. Would thoroughly recommend
Melanie
All in all a lovely cottage however, a few updates in the kitchen are needed such as chipped crockery, wobbly kitchen tap, decent sized cutlery, flickering light over the dining table and dishwasher falls forward when trays are pulled out. Hot tub was a welcoming end to the day and the creaky floorboards added to the character. Location was excellent to explore the Peaks and the local pubs do wonderful food. View from the windows were great to wake up to.
The creaking floor needs sorting out, I spoiled the holiday.
Cottage was beautiful and had all that was needed. Hot tub nice, plenty of garden space for kids to play. All cooking utensils , bedding, cleaning and towels provided. Slight downside was really creeky floors upstairs but I'm not sure much can be done. Also because you have to walk through owners property to get car out its awkward if dogs in garden as you don't want to let them out. These are minor things though and on whole had a lovely stay.
Alison
We had a lovely stay cottage was great lovely big downstairs area and a fantastic garden space. The location was perfect for us right next to the five pits trail which leads onto other trails which you can walk or cycle.
Dominic
The bathroom lacked power sockets for electric razors and toothbrushes. There was no backlighting on the mirrors and one bathroom had no curtainblind over window. There were no curtainsblinds to cover the sliding door downstairs causing reflections on the TV which made it difficult to watch. We appreciated the welcome box, Owners made us feel welcome.
Christine
Lovely location, very nice cottage with hot tub. Downstairs toilet was a bonus as was the two bathrooms as there were only two of us, one each when we were getting ready to go out. Lots of helpful information left for us of places to see and also recommendations for eating out. We visited Chesterfield on the Thursday as there was a flea market. It was enormous and we really enjoyed walking round the stalls. We really enjoyed our stay.
Lovely house, especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings. Enjoyed a visit to Bakewell, nice location.
The place was lovely and we would stay again. However the small double bed was not big enough for two adults. Also the showers were not very powerful.
Amazing place. Couldn't ask for more. The owners are very friendly to. If we needed anything all we had to do was ask.
Gareth
High quality accommodation well presented and equipped. Friendly owners who provided clear communication and instructions. Hot tub is a welcome treat at the end of the day. Well situated for a lot of different activities be they in cities or the countryside. Walks literally on the doorstep. We loved it and would recommend this cottage highly!
Netherfield Cottage we found to be extremely well resourced, everything there you could possibly need and very clean, spacious accommodation. We were surprised that the property was situated on a road with quite a bit of through traffic, it did bother us personally as we live in a quiet culdesac so are not accustomed to traffic noise. I would like to stress that this is not a criticism of this lovely place as such, rather an observation that isn't made clear on the listing and of course, noise tolerance is a personal thing. Other people have mentioned the creaky floorboards in the main bedroom. I have creaks at home, I didn't think it would bother us. In this case, it is extreme, you have to turn up the TV if someone is walking about upstairs! At night, there is no popping to the bathroom without waking your partner. In the end we laughed about it, but it does need looking at. Our only other reservation was feeling embarrassed having to walk through the owner's personal space back garden past family living area to get to our car, there is an option to go out on to the road, we did this whenever possible. These points aside, we enjoyed our stay, the owners were really helpful and friendly, the surrounding area is beautiful with loads of lovely walking and scenery right on your doorstep and hot tub is the best we've used. Netherfield Cottage is well worth booking, you will have a lovely holiday, simply be aware of the points above when you make your choice if you are sensitive to any of these issues, we hope our honest review is helpful.

Brilliant house n brilliant hosts . Def coming back we have a great time .
The showers were very weak and the floorboards in the master bedroom were very ... The showers were very weak and the floorboards in the master bedroom were very noise which would disturb anybody, s sleep the accommodation was very clean and well equipped, and the owners were very Helpfull
Robert
The location of the cottage could have been clearer as there are two Pilsleys in Derbyshire. Pilsley near Bakewell is in the Peak District whilst Netherfield Cottage is in Pilsley, near Clay Cross a totally different location.
Joshua
Enjoyed our holiday. Great location for getting to the places we wanted to visit. The house was great. Only niggles 1. Awful showers which is exacerbated because you should shower frequently before and after using the hot tub and 2. The annoyingly loud creaky floorboards upstairs. But overall we loved the place and thank the owners for having us.
This is a great venue for exploring the Peak District. Karen is a charming host. The quality of the accommodation is first class with stunning country views and the added bonus of a hot tub
Lovely cottage, with fab open plan layout downstairs and nicely decorated bedrooms, en suite and bathroom upstairs. A great garden well equipped with hot tub and barbecue. Very quiet village location not to be confused with the larger Pilsley near the Chatsworth estate, convenient base for cycling, walking and enjoying the beautiful towns of the Peak District. 4060mins from Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock, Tissington Trail etc, so good base location. Cottage also situated right next to the Five Pits Trail which is suitable for walkers, cyclists and pushchairs and easy circular walks accessible around the surrounding villages. No pubs in close walking distance that serve food, but plenty of lovely pubs a short drive away a car is necessary here if you want to get out and visit local areas. The owner who lives in the main farmhouse next door is lovely, and more than happy to help with anything and french bulldogs Ronnie and Reggie provided our 18mth old with lots of entertainment. If we had one downside and it is only the one, the floorboards upstairs in the cottage were incredibly creaky, making putting a toddler to bed very tricky something to consider if travelling with a small one who is easily disturbed. All in all a lovely place to stay, and we would visit again and definitely recommend! Thanks Jane and Mark
Kirsty
The closeness of the property to the owners needs to be clearer. The house is actually in their back garden. Also I discovered there are 2 Pilsleysin Derbyshire so it might be worth clarifying which one this is
The customer service was excellent as I needed help with a payment issue. The hosts were wonderful and allowed us to feel relaxed, welcome but also left alone to enjoy ourselves. The cottage was spotless and to a high standard. Hot tub was just heaven... Really top job. I will definately book with Sykes again.
Elizabeth
Beautiful cottage, very clean, comfortable, hot tub is amazing after a long day out and about. Really lovely cottage, would certainly book again.
A great venue for walkers right next to the 5Pits trail. The outdoor table was excellent for breakfast and bbqs.
Joanne
Lovely accommodation. Everything we needed was there. The biscuits and tea etc were are nice touch. Lovely and warm yet so spacious, which given the weather wasn't great, it was lovely to get back to. We booked because we liked the idea of a hot tub and went in every evening.
Lovely cottage ,great hot tub ,well kept owners were really friendly and helpful ... Lovely cottage ,great hot tub ,well kept owners were really friendly and helpful when we got snowed in saying we could stay on till later in day till it was safe to drive Would recommend to family and friends
The cottage was well equipped, spacious, clean and modern. We had a wonderful stay at the cottage, and really enjoyed the use of the hot tub. The only downside of the experience is that the cottage was super difficult to find in the dark, as we could not see the door number at all due to a dimly lit street. It would have been helpful if there was a sign indicating the name of the cottage, or a clearer display of the door number. Alternatively, perhaps the owner could have communicated a map or instructions upon contact to indicate how to locate the cottage. We drove in and out of three or four neighbouring driveways and had to turn around in the street a few times before we finally found the right property. However due to the cottage being tucked away behind the owner's house out of public view, I had to ring the owner to find out where exactly the cottage was!!! Very difficult to find. Now we know where the cottage is located, we would rent it again, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Too difficult to find!
Sandra
Netherfield cottage was a lovely place to stay. Well appointed, clean, close to hiking trails and some lovely villages. The only negative I have is that the upstairs floor boards are really noisy and loud. If you have to get up in the night the noise inevitably woke the other person or if your downstairs watching telly the noise is terribly disturbing. Some people it may not bother but for us, it it did really spoil a truly lovely property.
A great property but people could be misled between the location of Pilsley and Pilsley Chatsworth. A lovely base for a holiday and the hot tub was wonderful
Maureen
Lovely cottage, everything you need and the Hot Tub was a big hit with the kids.
