Roseville Reviews

Lovely cosy cottage in a great location in Cromford. Great walks from the doorstep. Perfect location for a family New Years Eve get together. Unusual to find a property where all 4 bedrooms are a good size with 3 king size & 1 double bed. Hot tub is a delightful bonus. The owner was so helpful both before and during our visit. Would definitely recommend.
We absolutely loved our stay and everything you need was their. It was a lovely touch the welcome pack that we has when we arrived. The little village it's in is only a 2 minute walk and everything we needed was their. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
Trevor
Lovely old cottage in a great location, perhaps not ideal for really oldyoung with the accesssteps but beautiful setting!
Christine
The cottage was lovely, well appointed and ideally placed for a walking holiday with handy buses nearby to access towns. Unloading loading the car was an issue narrow oneway lane so traffic was held up and a parking sign needed to be displayed in the car when parking at the parking area at the bottom of the hill.
Olivia
The property was well equipped and just as described. The views from the top were breathtaking. Neil was on hand and happy to help with any queries we had. It was a lovely treat to be greeted with a bottle of bubbly and some sweet treats for all to enjoy. The garden was nicely furnished and secure for our dog to roam without any worries. Overall, we would definitely recommend to friends and family.
The cottage is lovely, the area is perfect, so close to everything. There are cute shops and cafes around. The owner was great with getting in touch and made sure everything was ok, before and during our stay. There are some small maintenance of the cottage that needs doing but other than that was a lovely stay.
Really enjoy our stay at Roseville, very homely feeling ,everyone enjoy our stay. each room was lovely and had character
Had a lovely stay. House was well situated close to local shop and pub and nice work to local attractions. Owner was readily available on the phone if help was needed. I would recommend this property.
The property is a lovely well equipped cottage and there was plenty of room for all 6 adults, one toddler and 2 dogs. It is up a little bit of a hill and tucked away but the views and privacy are worth it. It is an old cottage so it does have a few knocks and bangs but this all adds to its charm however it does have modern convienences with a lovely gallery kitchen and seating area.It has easy access to Matlock, Matlock Bath & Buxton. It also has a few pubs in the nearby village a 5 min walk away. We can highly recommend the Tapas Bar and the Boat Inn we had two fabulous meals there all reasonably priced. Overall we spent a lovely week here with our family for my husbands 60th Birthday it is well worth a visit.
Parking. provision was very hrlpful! Facilities were very good
The location was perfect, great views on Cromford and comfortable walk to the mills and Matlock bath. The parking situation was fine and we managed to park near the house along the road or a short walk to the car park. The house is very quirky which we liked and could be amazing but is in need for a little maintenance. We were expecting a hot tub as we have two active children but this was in fact a lazy spa, we had a issue when it stopped working a few times but once we contacted the owner he was great and came round promptly to fix it. The house has low ceilings in a lot of places so my tall husband 6.1 found he was bending a lot but this was the character of the building. I would say that the house really needs a good deep clean. There was a lot of mould on the walls and round the windows I do understand it is an old house but we all felt this was just something which could have been cleaned off. The windowsills were filthy and the kitchen worktop really sticky when we arrived. The garden is a lot more overgrown than the pictures on advertisement and general tidy up is needed to make it feel more spacious and also safe as the surfaces are uneven especially near spa and bbq. The bins were overloaded with rubbish in the bin shed and with the hot weather this wasnt nice. This would need to be sorted as a matter for urgency for health and safety. We had a lovely holiday in Cromford and location is great if you dont mind the hill walking never bothered us. I just think the house needs a little TLC to get it up to a holiday home standard.

We had a lovely 3 day stay at Roseville, texts from Neil the owner to ensure it all went well was a lovely personal touch. Welcome hamper was a lovely touch too, he is very helpful and approachable. Cottage is comfortable and has everything you need for a nice break. Unfortunately the hot tub was not on when we arrived so we were unable to use it until the next day, I would advise anyone to check it as soon as they pick up the keys. We had a little query which was VERY quickly rectified by Neil. It is a very quaint and cozy cottage, may need a little tlc but for the price you cant fault this cottage. I have already recommended it to friends. Cromford is a lovely base to explore from. Thank you so much for all your assistance Neil x
Excellent responsiveness from our hosts, which helped make our stay an absolute pleasure. The location was just perfect and the home was a great size.
This cottage has great views and is in a fab location . Village and surrounding area is lovely . Inside the cottage is comfortable and well equipped . Its location on the side of a hill makes access to the cottage , offsite parking , and the outside areas , not ideal for anyone with any limited mobility .
Nicoletta
A wonderful few days in this lovely property. Would definitely stay again.
Stacey
A fantastic stay in a lovely house with everything we needed. We know the area well and the property is in a great location for getting out to everywhere. I can imagine in summer the gardens to the house are amazing and would be lovely to sit out and bbq.
Lovely property, great location. Owners on call and helpful. Great hot tub my 3 year old had loads of fun!
We stayed this weekend 3 friends. Location was excellent and facilities. Host Neil was very accommodating and actually visited us personally to address a couple of minor incidents. This was very much appreciated, he was very attentive. We had a lovely weekend and are thinking of returning in the future.
Elizabeth
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Roseville. We loved the cottage and the hot tub and the facilities were all very good. Neil helped with any queries we had and we would definitely consider going back to Roseville cottage again if we visit the area. Thank you Neil.
Rebecca
My friends and I visited Roseville for a weekend and we were very happy with our stay. For a group of 4, Roseville was very comfortable and clean. The little welcome pack on arrival was a lovely touch. It was in the perfect location to go out and about exploring and we had a lovely day in Matlock Bath. Neil, the host, was on hand to help out with any issues we may have had and went above and beyond to sort anything out.
Lovely property bedrooms especially comfortable. We had a slight issue with the cooker but it was resolved extremely quickly by Neil. Will definitely recommend to friends and family
What an absolute beautiful cottage, it was quaint, cosy and comfortable. There was enough space for everyone and yet it didn't feel crowded at all. The hot tub did take a little while to warm up, but was worth the wait!!! The bedrooms had everything you needed and we're very comfortable! The cottage warmed up really quickly and had everything you would need during a stay. The surrounding area is wonderful, we will definitely be returning to explore some more! The next door neighbours were very friendly as well. The facilities were great, the only issue was when we ran out of toilet roll, but a quick run to the shop fixed that. Would absolutely recommend this cottage for anyone having a get together, we had the best weekend away.
Deborah
We had a lovely weekend at Roseville Cottage, the property was well situated for walks & local amenities and had everything we needed for our stay. Neil the owner was very friendly and kept us well informed for our arrival, he was very helpful after we left too when our son left some of his belongings, Neil offered to post them back to us but we decided to return the following day to collect from the property which wasnt a problem for him. We would definitely recommend this stay & would love to return in the future.
Great second property booked alongside Kirkham House. Property was very good with great beds and bedding and good facilities. Good owner response too.
Nicola
We had a lovely time at the cottage, it was cosy and we liked the village, pubs and tapas within easy walking distance. The hot tub was great after a day of walking but is quite small. The welcome pack was much appreciated. The beds are really comfortable and although we had a slight issue with the heating, it was rectified within minutes by Sykes and the owner.
Had a lovely stay bedding etc extremely clean but oven very dirty felt had to wash plates cutlery etc before using. Well stocked in terms of cutlery crockery glassware. Heating worked well and loved the fire .Welcome tray and prosecco were a lovely touch. Described as property for 8 people whilst there are beds for 8 people the settee and chairs in the living space don't really accommodate 8 people to sit and relax comfortably. Same with dining table great for 6 but very tight for 8 I would imagine .Hot tub was also very small would not have got us all in which for us is part of the fun of the trip . We did enjoy the trip and location .
Myself and my family had a fantastic stay at the property and the owner was friendly and helpful. The ensuite is actually just a shower in one of the bedrooms but apart from that everything was listed correctly, the property was also kitted out with everything you would need during your stay. I would definitely stay there again if I visit the Peak District in the future.
Joanne
My family and i had a wonderful stay at Roseville Cottage for our annual holiday as it was a lovely cottage in a great location. Upon arrival we were greeted to a welcome basket in the kitchen popcorn, Prosecco and etc . This was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. Also the text from Neil the owner to make sure upon arrival everything was ok. The little touches. The kitchen was supplied greatly with utensils, with plenty of glasses, plates and etc so ideal for groups. However the downside to Roseville was the cleanliness. It wasnt the best, as there was dust and hairs in the draws in each bedroom, skirting boards, under the kitchen bench sitting area, also between the bed headboards and walls there were cobwebs. Unfortunately we were expecting an ensuite but it was only a shower cubicle to our disappointment. I understand it was advertised as an ensuite wet room however it may be worth making this clear it is only a shower. Unfortunately we were not able to use the shower and the shower in the bathroom at the same time due to the fluctuation of temperature and pressure to each shower. Also if a member of the family used the tap in the kitchen it would affect the shower upstairs. With the house being four bedrooms this isnt ideal. These are minor recommendations, and are easily rectified and if they are, I would definitely stay at Roseville in the near future. All the family had a wonderful stay and made amazing memories so I would like to thank the owner Neil.
Lovely property with lovely view. Location was brilliant with a pub just down the road and walks from the doorstep. Was skeptical about an inflatable hot tub but was pleasantly surprised. All in all a lovely stay.
A fantastic cottage, we loved every minute of our stay & will be back again. Was just the break we needed!
Alexandra
The cottage was lovely and cosy, the welcome tray Lucy left was well received by our group thank you! . The only issue we had was the hot tub was difficult to maintain a hot tub temperature so we only used it once over our stay. Beds were comfortable and duvets warm. The nearby amenities were in good proximity, the tapas restaurant was amazing and we would highly recommend! Tasty and excellent value for money!
I was disappointed with the hot tub as it was leaking from the connection joint so we couldnt use it . The shower head over the back would not remain at an angle to enable it to be used as a shower. The shelf in the door of the fridge was broken.
Lovely cottage with amazing views. Top garden was secure for the dogs. Bottom garden was a pathway to other cottages. Cottage is in a lovely area and the facilities around are very nice. Note that some of the businesses cafes and the tapas restaurants are not open daily so places are cash only too. There is no cash machine in the area buy you can get cash back in the post office. I would recommend this cottage we had a lovely week here.
Catherine
Lovely holiday cottage. We had a great time. Great location. Thanks very much,
Carolyn
We had a great time at Roseville admittedly aided by fabulous weather. The cottage is in a great position for the area. If you like walking, there are walks from the doorstep consider downloading an app such as Outdooractive to find walks. The beds were comfortable, as was the sofa and the outdoor seating, though 8 people could find it tight to sit in one area together. As there were 4 of us it wasn't an issue at all. Similarly with the pans, but there was an abundance of crockery, cutlery and mugs, which is always good with a dishwasher to fill. The outside areas got the sun nearly all day it was so hot we had to escape inside at times as there is no natural shade something to plan for if you have a dog. The village itself is lovely and has places to eat in the day and evening. Special mention for the bookshopcafe a great place if you are into books and a spot of lunch. Overall, I would definitely recommend the cottage, and may visit again myself someday.
Elaine
A lovely property in a great location for exploring. The owners were great, sending an information pack prior to our stay, messaging to check everything was OK after our arrival plus following this up when we didnt receive the first message and leaving us some essentials teacoffee, biscuits, milk and treats. Their communication throughout was fantastic, including when we messaged to report a minor issue. The house was very comfortable, with 4 good sized double bedrooms, and lovely and warm but it would benefit from a little TLC in some areas eg the toilet roll holder fell off the wall and the locks on the toilet doors are not child friendly as they cannot be opened from the outside. The hot tub was a huge hit and certainly made the holiday feel extra special.
Dennis
Was totally focused on an open fire and the hot tub while driving to property, sadly we had neither, owners tried their best by supplying fuel later that night, but the weather for week more than made up for all the above. Roseville is a lovely quaint cottage that perhaps requires some TLC.
We had a wonderful stay at Roseville with a group of friends celebrating my 30th birthday. Neil & Lucy were helpful and informative, welcome pack was very handy! Cromford is a beautiful place with all the facilities you could need, beds were comfy & the cottage was clean & cozy. The coffee machine was very complicated & we gave up in the end, some instructions on the cupboard by it would be a great addition. We had a slight leak from the shower whilst we were there but Lucy was able to reassure me, and it didn't affect our stay. Car parking is close by, we had a food shop delivery from Sainsbury's which was very handy! Would love to come back again to explore more of the area
