Stepwell Reviews

Really nice cottage in a beautiful setting, with a well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. Great to have the hot tub in the garden. We were a group of friends getting together and it was ideal that the beds could all be made up as singles. Friendly welcome from the owners and The Red Lion Inn at Long Compton was very good for dinner, thank you for the recommendation!
Kerrie
The photos online don't do this property or the location justice it is such a beautiful house in a picturesque location. It was absolutely perfect for celebrating our 40th birthdays as a group of old friends.
This is a fantastic Spacious property Modern , well located to explore the Cotswold. Communication from Host was proactive, Host are very accommodating. Views are great, will definitely be back
We had a 'girls' 60's plus! weekend for 3 nights, location was beautiful and the barn itself was amazing!! There was loads of room and beds were so comfortable with lovely linen and pillows! One only slight criticism would be to have more coasters for the cups and some place mats, also a fish slice lol! These are so minor though. We loved it and would highly recommend!!
This was a fantastic property, in a great location. The owners were really helpful, and more than willing to assist with anything needed. For a group of ladies, the set up was perfect, sleeping arrangements, very spacious, well equipped, a covered area over the hot tub all exactly what we wanted & the sun was shining too! I would definitely stay here again and will definitely recommend as a great base to explore the Cotswolds from too.
Beautiful property in stunning location, owners very friendly and accommodating, thank you
Third time staying at Stepwell in last 6 years, great time as always perfect for our group of friends but some of the soft furnishings are looking tired. Some stains on sofa and cushions Oven door also needs deep clean . Just a freshen up would improve appearance and enhance already gorgeous barn. Owners as always welcoming and helpful
We have just enjoyed a lovely weekend at Stepwell. The house is in a remote location with wonderful views and footpaths to explore the countryside. Having a covered hot tub was great as it meant we could use it whatever the weather. It rained all weekend but we were able to use the hot tub despite this. The house is well stocked with plenty of crockery and plastic glasses for use in hot tub. There was a selection of condiments such as cooking oil and spices to use which was helpful. The big fridge freezer was handy to store all our food and bottles and the freezer produces a supply of ice, which wouldve been handy to know as we had lugged an ice machine with us. The house is a great social or family space with plenty of room for everyone. Bath towels are provided but individual hand towels would be helpful too. Would definitely recommend Stepwell.
Beautiful house which we will most definitely return to!

Mrs Lambourne
Couldn't fault the place, I've stayed in lots of cottages but this one felt so homely, really high spec. We also really appreciated the cake and bottle!!!!
Mr Elliott
A beautiful setting. Very stylishly decorated and equipped. Every thing was available in the kitchen making catering very easy. Warm and comfortable on a cold weekend. Very welcoming friendly owner . Spotless bedding and comfortable beds. Plenty of hot water. Fautless!
Ms Johnson
The cottage was beautiful, filled with light and in a peaceful setting. The beds were very comfortable and we were welcomed with a cake and a bottle of Prosecco.

Mrs Davies
We thought the cottage was very comfortable, tastefully refurbished, very clean and a nice touch of the owner with the fresh bread, butter and choc cake!
We have checked out the cottage this morning around 9. 45am. It's been a pleasure to stay at the place and we thoroughly enjoyed it, especially my little boy, Wyatt. It's a great place for him to run around and he loves the horses. Hope we can come and visit again soon
Barnett
Beautiful location, well equipped, warm, good quality dcor and fittings, complimentary wine and cake on arrival was nice, v. comfy beds
Mrs Westby
The cottage was beautifully renovated, equipped to a very high standard and had everything necessary for a comfortable and relaxing weekend. We were two families staying for a birthday celebration and enjoyed the bright and airy communal space for socializing together. The kitchen was well equipped for us to cook up a 5 course celebratory meal and the open plan area made it perfect for us all to be together. The four teenage children made the most of the huge bedroom space downstairs. The outdoor seating was great for breakfast and predinner drinks when the rain held off!
Gorgeous property beautifully decorated attention to detail reasonable price lots of space.
Ms Fellman
The house was amazing and any contact with the owners was very friendly and helpful.
We loved the converted barn it was fabulous, like something out of Grand Designs. Perfect for our girlie weekend.
Mrs Cope
We had an excellent time and the property was just what we required
House was beautiful, rooms were clean and large, service from Manor Cottages and owner was brilliant. Fire was set up for us to use, cake waiting in kitchen. We had a great stay. Close to some lovely towns. Kitchen was fully equipped for cooking dinners.
The location, quality, space and standard of the cottage was the best we have stayed in, ever. The owners were also incredibly helpful and lovely people.
Miss C
The location of the cottage was lovely, very peaceful whilst we were in the cottage but perfectly located for the nearest town, local amenities and of course some very good local pubs. We particularly liked the open plan kitchen and living spaces which made for a very sociable area for relaxing and preparing food etc. The cottage was presented really nicely, a very attractive building and good facilities plenty of bathrooms, good kitchen facilities and comfortable living area.
We all loved the way the barn had been converted so much light and space. Also, it has just enough decorating items in it to feel interesting, without being cluttered up. In addition, for our party it was ideal to each have a single bed. What else? well, good location for places of interest, liked being on a farm with horses, could walk straight from the door, wonderful views.
Mrs Harding
A wonderful, spacious barn conversion in a lovely peaceful location a ... A wonderful, spacious barn conversion in a lovely peaceful location a perfect base for the eight of us to enjoy the Cotswolds
Mrs Prajapati
Definitely somewhere we would recommend to others. The cottage is beautiful and the location was lovely. We were lucky to have such good weather in November! We were delighted that the owner left us a lovely lemon cake and a bottle of Prosecco.
Ms Wade
The cottage looked to be of a very high standard and did not disappoint. We needed somewhere that would accommodate a party of 10 and it did so amply. The owner was particularly helpful and we had a great time.
Ms McAndrew
Lovely top spec barn conversion. Nice kitchen. Massive dorm. Upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms aren't big but are very comfortable with big beds and nice views.

Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens - OX18 4JP
about 14 Miles
This has to be one of the most popular days out in Oxfordshire and is sure to appeal to nature lovers, animal lovers and keen gardeners.  Families and couples will enjoy wandering around this amazing park with a wide variety of mammals and birds to see as well as reptiles. Some of the most popular animals are the Burrowing Owl, Dexter Cow, African Pancake Tortoise and the Bar Headed Goose.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and special offers.
Avon Leisure Cruises - BS8 4EB
about 18 Miles
Avon Leisure Cruises offer a relaxing way to spend an afternoon exploring the beautiful river and the sites all around it. The trips have commentary to point out places of historical importance and interest and are educational as well as fun. During school holidays the area is very popular with tourists and with families and daily activities can be enjoyed.
Catanger Llama Trekking - NN12 8LJ
about 23 Miles
This is a really unique attraction and certainly worth a visit in our opinion.  Established in 1995 and situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside this attraction will appeal to those looking for something a little different.  You can't ride the animals but you can trek alongside them and enjoy the fantastic scenery.  From farm tracks to country lanes the gentle animals will carry your rucksack for you along the way.  There are personally guided treks available all year round and you will have your own Llama for the trek.
Farmer Gows - SN7 8DA
about 25 Miles
Farmer Gows is a recommended attraction in the Faringdon area of Oxfordshire and will be especially suited to families with young children.  The little ones will love coming to see the farm animals including pigs, cows and lambs.  The meet the animals session takes place every day and includes handling the animals, walking the goats, feeding the pigs and cows and egg collecting.  Look out for special seasonal events throughout the year such as the Halloween Party, Lambing and children's workshops.  The latest news from the farm is that they have some Saddleback piglets and Speckledy chicks arriving shortly.
Spetchley Park and Gardens - WR5 1RS
about 26 Miles
Spetchley Park and Gardens in Worcestershire are the perfect place for a day trip all year round. During the summer months the gardens are really at their best with beautiful displays of flora and fauna. Many families choose to bring a picnic and there are several picnic tables in the grounds. The deer park is also a big hit with children as well as grown ups. The onsite tea room serves tasty sandwiches and cakes and uses local produce where possible.
Old Dairy Farm Centre - PO30 2NB
about 28 Miles
Suited to families with children of all ages this is a fantastic attraction in Northamptonshire.  There are many special events held throughout the year so don't forget to check what's happening while you are staying in the region.  Some highlights include the lambing weekends and the monthly local food fayres.
Old Dairy Farm Country Shopping and Craft Centre - LE14 3PF
about 28 Miles
From shopping to home cooked refreshments this is a wonderful day out in the pretty village of Upper Stowe.  You can enjoy amazing views over the Northamptonshire countryside and wander around the complex of stone built farm buildings.  Each building houses something different such as the Occasions Florist, Itsy Bitsy Gifts, Hayrack Gallery and Sheer Delights Lingerie.  When it's time for a rest the Barn Restaurant and Tea Room is the place to go.  There is a small selection of animals at the centre too which younger children will love.  They currently have two Kune Kune pigs, sheep, hens and ducks.  If you are looking for upmarket holiday accommodation in the Northamptonshire area then the luxury lodges at Wicksteed Park are sure to impress.
Pendon Indoor Model Village and Railways - OX12 8EA
about 29 Miles
This is an all weather attraction in Abingdon, Oxfordshire which will appeal to all ages.  The model trains are fascinating to watch and we love the model village in the Vale Scene.  The exhibits have been well thought out and it's a pleasure to wander around this museum looking at everything on offer.  You can be assured of a warm welcome from the moment you arrive and for kids and adults alike this makes a fun and educational day out.
