Cwmgilla Farm Reviews

Heather
It is a well equipped property that suited our family very well, we made good use of the games room and hot tub, the utility room was ideal for pets.
Victoria
Lovely holiday. Very spacious house with amazing views.
The house is in an amazing location and has plenty of space and facilities. The hosts were very helpful and responsive, they had also left us a lovely welcome basket with the most amazing eggs!

I returned from Cwmgilla today after a weekend with my relatives. The location is very rural and quiet and the scenery beautiful. The town of Knighton is within easy reach and access to walking routes is good. The house is large and has five bedrooms, two reception rooms, two games rooms and a hot tub. The kitchen is large and ten people can be seated around the dining table. However, there were some faults that took the shine off my stay. At one point we were trapped inside the larger reception room because we could not open the door due to a faulty handle. If my sister in law, who was elsewhere in the house, had not let us out, I would have had to climb out of a window. The bottom hinge on the door to the small reception room was no longer screwed into the door frame and therefore dangerous. The doors to the downstairs shower do not meet and consequently water can escape onto the floor. The sofas need replacing, the mattresses too. The windows were dirty. Those are just some of the many small issues I found. The house needs some repairs and I would suggest that it needs refurbishment as the decor is looking tired. I took exception to the instructions for leaving, which ask you to strip linen from the beds and bag it up along with the towels. I think when you have paid hundreds of pounds for accommodation that service should be included. My wife complied with the request, but I would have left the beds personally. I think the instruction is cheeky.

This was a perfect house for our family gathering. Lovely quiet location, comfy & warm home, great walks from there and easy walking distance into the nice town of Knighton. The games room was well used. Hot tub was a hit. The two lounges were really good for our family, but an additional sofa in the snug room wouldve been great. The kitchen was perfect for dining. Just to mention, a couple more kitchen items. Serrated knives, extra chopping board, larger clothes dryer, no tumble drier All in all, a fantastic week at Cwmgilla Farm. Thanks so much.
We had a great weekend here and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. The house itself could do with some general maintenance as parts are quite tired. However, as a group of 10, we found it well equipped, roomy and more than adequate for our needs. Hot tub was great and there is some lovely scenery, you are also surrounded by sheep. There were quite a few flies, but you are in the countryside. We found that if you put the post code into a sat nav it takes you to the wrong place, those of us who just entered Cwmgilla Farm had no problems. The lane to the house is single track and very bumpy so anyone with a low vehicle would find it difficult, but there is plenty of parking.

Lovely house with plenty of space for all the family 5 adults, 4 children and a baby. Hot tub and games room were a big hit with everyone and used every day. Well equipped with everything to make our stay enjoyable. Good location with views along the valley. Gazing at all the stars after dark was epic, not something we see at home as too much light pollution. Welcome hamper was a nice touch, thank you. A great time was had by all 10 of us and the dogs.
Lesley
It's a great property. Loved the whole week Peaceful and quiet . Would come back The upstairs bathroom we couldn't use as water came through the ceiling in the kitchen after having a shower . I think the bath needs to be resealing . But there were two other showers, so it was not a problem Lots and lots of flies. This is probably due to being near a farm . Lovely for our two dogs too.

Went for my daughters birthday we had a great time would go again for definite.

What an amazing property and stunning location. As a group of 9 we had an amazing stay. The games room and hot tub provided hours of quality family time of fun. It was lovely to wake up and look out at such beautiful surroundings. The welcome basket was such a lovely touch thank you
Just returned from a week at the amazing Cwmgilla Farmhouse. Everything was spotless, owners have thought of everything to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. The welcome basket was a lovely touch, thank you. The games room and hot tub were a great success and enjoyed by all family members. The house is set in a beautiful location, we thoroughly enjoyed the many Country walks in the surrounding area. Highly recommend Cwmgilla Farmhouse and we look forward to a return visit in the future.

Wonderful location, beautiful well equipped house. We will be back as soon as possible!
Great house with lots of room in a beautiful area, we really enjoyed our stay and will return next year.
Lovely property set in peaceful surroundings. With plenty of space for our family of 9. The facilities were excellent and the games room and hot tube were enjoyed by all.

The house was perfect for 6 adults, 4 kids and a dog. Lots of room for us all, games room, hot tub and board games provided kept everyone happy. Only downside the listing said there was a BBQ, we bought food for a bbq on Saturday there was no BBQ. A very small broken one by the bins. The grass wasnt mowed, the kids wanted to play catch and badminton it wasnt possible as the grass was too long.
Sylvia
It was lovely and peaceful in a beautiful area and the house was just what we wanted for a family holiday for 9 people aged 7yrs to 83yrs. We all had a lovely time and would recommend it to others.
We have stayed here a few times and ah my god we love it, games room r amazing as we don't see the men all weekend. We love everything about this house and we defo will be returning again next year. Thank you
We all enjoyed our stay very much.
Richard
Cwmgilla farm was just what we needed after 2021. The cottage was perfect size for my growing family. With plenty of space for the small ones to run around..
Theresa
The cottage was perfect for our family reunion. Beautiful views and peaceful. Very well equipped and spacious. Comfortable rooms with plenty of bathroom toilet facilities. The games room and hot tub kept people amused. Lots of cottages that say they welcome dogs really don't mean it or have no idea what is needed but this one is perfect with wooden or tiled floors, outside tap, good fencing. We will definitely return.
Rebecca
Lovely cottage and sweet welcome basket. Would recommend this cottage.
Victor
Wonderfull place . We had very nice time and gratfull!
The cottage was situated in lovely countryside and had a feeling of being remote yet was only a couple of minutes drive away from Knighton. The games room was a big hit with the kids and the cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable break, especially the hot tub! We really enjoyed our break and were lucky we could go ahead during these strange times.
The accommodation was very clean and relaxing. The hot tub was a real bonus. The surrounding areas was beautiful and there was plenty of places to walk if you wanted to without bumping into anyone which meant we was safe in regard to the corona virus. You can walk into town for provisions and meals out which also felt very safe as everyone social distanced. We are hoping to return next year. Big thank you to the owners.
We stayed here for one week in August. This holiday home is a little gem of a find! This was our first trip away post lockdown and it really couldnt have been in a more idyllic setting. Firstly we were greeted with a lovely gift basket on arrival. After a long journey this was much appreciated! Secondly the house is much bigger than it seems from the outside. Really spacious rooms and the games room was fab, which we really made use of. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you needed and again, the owners have really thought about the little touches with hand washes and salt and pepper etc. The hot tub was used daily sometimes twice and again was a great addition to the house. On one of our trips out we went to Elan Valley reservoirs. So picturesque and a great way to spend a few hours out and about. Weve been back home a day and Im desperately missing the beautiful views of sheep and rabbits that you can see from the front porch. Would love to go back and stay for Christmas and have an opportunity to use the wood burner. Gorgeous, just gorgeous!
Beautiful setting, very thoughtful welcome package and plenty of room for ... Beautiful setting, very thoughtful welcome package and plenty of room for children to play even in bad weather the hosts were very helpful would recommend to anyone who wants to stay in a beautiful and private setting, the kitchen was fantastic as it was a great size for our group
Wonderful place that we as a family will highly recommend to people. The owners where great from start to finish with there communication and put us at ease with it being our first outing post lock down. The house had everything a familygroup could need. If your after peace and quite and access to great walks and also in reach of local towns this is the place to be. Also the owners left us a hamper of goods which was a great touch. We could not fault this place and will be visiting again in the future.
Overall was good nice ,clean and spacious house however they can improve few things like better quality bed and bigger TV .
This is the second time I've stayed here and it was just as good as before. It's a hidden gem of a cottage. No noise or light pollution, although only a short walk into the lovely quaint town of Knighton. Lots of space inside the large cottage. Two living rooms, beautiful large kitchen dining room, huge games rooms area and stunning views from all windows. We watched the stars and moon rising on the evening from the hot tub and in the morning watched the sun rise over the hills from the sofa with a mug of hot tea. You want for nothing. The kitchen has more utensils than my kitchen and the welcome hamper was a lovely surprise with butter, local cheese, bread, tea, coffee, milk, red wine, orange juice, eggs... it was very generous. There were 8 of us that stayed and we never felt like we were on top of each other. Can't wait to stay here again sometime.
We loved our holiday in this house, it was spacious and never felt cramped. It isn't far from knighton, but down a farm lane so it feels very peaceful. The hot tub, games room, and snug were lovely and very well used by us! Perfect for a 30th birthday celebration. Thank you!
Nicola
The host was friendly and flexible, the house was great and the hot tub a real treat! Would definitely recommend to others.
A fantastic hideaway that has absolutely everything that you need. The games room and hot tub were a hit. A large space so we didnt feel on top of each other. Very clean and comfortable and a safe place for the children to explore.
Very pleasant quiet location in beautiful countryside about 40 minutes walk from Knighton.
Cerian
This is a beautiful holiday cottage that we booked for my friends baby shower. There was a very thoughtful welcome hamper with plenty of information regarding what is around the area. The house was clean and well presented with many great facilities on site.

I enjoyed it a lot and would recommend this place to all.
Had a family get together for the weekend at this house . When we arrived there was a lovely basket of essential plus wine. And home made welsh cakes which were very yummy. The house was perfect for us ,with the added benefit of the games room and Hot tub ,Which was enjoyed by all. It is in lovely surroundings and short walk into knighton where we got a lovely pub lunch in the Horse and Jockey pub. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
The holiday was fantastic, we all had a wonderful time and it was only ruined by the fact we had to leave so soon. When we arrived there was a welcome basket with home made Welsh cakes which was a lovely touch. We felt cosy straight away and spent the evening chilling out in the 2 lounge areas. We were hosting a surprise going away party for one of our group as she is moving to Australia. The games rooms were perfect for all the fun things we had planned and we even managed to get the BBQ going despite the rain! The hot tub was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone especially once the sun had gone down, the sky was so clear and having no light pollution made everything so beautiful! We hope to come back and maybe stay a little longer next time!!
It was a nice experience and the location is great
Hilary
This holiday home was everything we needed, and more. Beautifully equipped kitchen, lots of space for everyone, and very comfortable beds. Hot tub and games room gave us hours of fun, and we felt so relaxed in the peace and quiet of the countryside. We were made to feel most welcome by the owners family, who were so helpful. The only downside was going back home. Wish we could have stayed longer than two weeks. Excellent family holiday home.
