Corner Cottage Stanhope Castle. Reviews

An excellent property that offered everything we needed and was ideal for the 2 of us, but did not feel cramped. Would love to return in the future.
Lovely cottage in a great area with lots to do.
We had a lovely stay, child free few days following finally getting married.
Had a great 4 night stay, the cottage was comfortable, clean and well equipped tho another bowl is needed! Would have liked some gifts that other guests had been left The hot tub is in a cave making it very cosy and private but a little difficult to get in. The cottage is only small but we knew this before booking and isnt the smallest place weve stayed. The village of Stanhope is small and isolated but there a plenty of shops, pubs and cafes to explore. We had no problems checking in and parking was easy. Overall we loved our stay and would definitely recommend!
Natasha
The cottage was just a little smaller than expected, but otherwise very clean, and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Just a very short walk to the village centre, where you can find pubs, shops & a lovely fish & chip shop. Beautiful walks also nearby.
Sharon
Property lovely and well stocked. Smaller than expected. Dark in living room Privacy curtain would be nice in hot tub area Kitchen not wide enough for 2 Stool to be able to sit and do hair would be welcomed
We had a wonderful and much needed break at the lovely wee cosy corner cottage. We chose it because of the wonderful hot tub cave 3 steps from the front door. It was March so the closer the better! Beautifully and very cleverly decorated, spotlessly clean and totally relaxing. So glad our dog was allowed to come as we couldn't leave him very well behaved but fear aggressive so kennels were out. Lovely grounds for his morning and evening walk and beautiful surroundings for trips to see the wonderful high waterfall and forests in the area. Look for Che restaurant in the town as the Spanish tapas is home made and delicious and the welcome is like visiting family. Book for a Saturday though as it's becoming known. We fully intend visiting the wonderful castle accommodation again, maybe with some family members maybe!.

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings hot tub excellent couple of really small issues turn lights off downsides you have to go upstairs in the dark light switch is upstairs realy difficult to speak to anyone takes a few days to answer email and mobile number incorrect toiletries would be good in shower considering the cost didn't like sarcastic comment made in email but would still recommend but not for me
Cottage lived up to all expectations, beautiful area of the UK and a great base for sightseeing places like Barnard Castle Inc. Bowes museum, High Force Waterfall and such like.
Beautiful cottage with stunning furniture and hot tub.
Andrew
Lovely cottage, had everything we needed for our stay and the hot tub was fantastic!
Derrick
Great place very clean and comfortable
The cottage was great equipment all high standard & in excellent condition. Loved the whole place both the castle & the town proved a great base for a fab few days. Very friendly staff on site too thanks to Ruth & the team. We definitely plan to return.
My wife and I absolutely loved our stay in the Corner Cottage, it was like a home away from home! The peace and quiet was just what we needed from such a busy year! Hot tub was perfect, everything was clean and it was just lovely and cosy! We can't wait to be back! Ruth was very friendly and helpful
Beautiful holiday cottage. Cosy, clean and well equipped. Will 100 be recommending to our friends and family. Thank you so much. We will be back!

Great accommodation in a great location
Lovely place. Everyone we met was friendly, helpful. Cottage was quirky and well stocked with kitchen utensils, pans etc. Hot tub a great asset after long walks in beautiful Weardale. Lots of places to visit close by.
Its a lovely little cottage. . exceeded expectations Stanhope is a very quaint but practical town with great amenities lovely walks surrounding the accommodation and further afield.

Weve had a lovely week. A beautiful, warm accommodation. Thanks very much
We would have liked a dining room table and chairs There was everything you could wish for to prepare a meal but nowhere to sit and eat it We are not used to eating with plates balanced on our laps The College atmosphere is very peaceful and quiet outside We like the extra touches of deer and birds and bathrobes We felt it a bit strange that we were only provided with two face towels one for upstairs and one for the ensuite. We were offered a second one when we queried it We like having a downstairs toilet though
Fabulous cottage with everything that was needed, lovely location and very pleasant amenities around the accommodation. Excellent
Jennifer
This holiday cottage far exceeded our expectations. It had been newly redecorated to a high and very tasteful standard and there was everything we needed and more! We had our own gas boiler and were able to control the temperature to our liking at any time. A small welcome hamper awaited us, which was much appreciated. The cottage was in a quiet location and we were not disturbed at all. The only fault and it was our own was that we had only booked it for a three day break wish we had stayed the whole week. We will certainly return.
A fabulous cottage in the middle of stunning Weardale. Very comfortable and well appointed. A great base for touring Co. Durham and Northumberland. Had a lovely, peaceful week. Highly recommended.

Fantastic cottage. The owners have thought of absolutely everything.Scott was on hand when we arrived to talk us through the cottage such as heating etc. Spotlessly clean, great location, great local walks to take the dog on. Really friendly locals. We really couldn't fault Corner cottage and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Lovely cosy cottage. The decor was beautiful. The weather was on our side and made this break a one to remember. The owner was very helpful and left us a bottle of fizz and a small hamper for us arriving. Stanhope as a whole is a lovely busy village by day and a very relaxing quiet village at night.
My wife and I will be definitely returning to stanhope castle next year. It was absolutely amazing what a lovely place to stay for a holiday the cottage was very nice and very well equipped with everything you needed the prosecco and hamper was a very nice touch on arrival stanhope itself has everything shops pub's and a brilliant wee cafe. Scott and his family make you so welcome. C u next year David and janie.
The accommodation was just short of a dining table and two chairs but we soon got used to eating off our knees. Located in excellent walking country. Lots of local facilities shops, pubs, nice tapas restaurant within walking distance.
Lovely terraced cottage in a quiet mews in Stanhope. Very well presented and maintained. Use of 'castle' grounds and hot tub. Well situated with good choice of cafes, pubs, shops, snack bars all within walking distance. Beautiful part of the country and pleasant journey to loads of interesting places. Really enjoyable weeks stay.
Judith
Lovely cottage in a castle mews. Very clean and comfortable and there was a lovely welcome pack of milk etc and a lovely bottle of prosecco. The area was beautiful with lots of lovely walks for us and our dog. Found a very friendly local pub with good food. Would love to come back sometime.
Perfectly wonderful
This cottage is outstanding, not only benefitting from an amazing contemporary interior but dog friendly as well..the decor is eye popping, the situation perfect. Chippy, and 2 pubs within a five minute stroll..we have stayed in literally dozens and dozens of properties over 25 years yet 4 Stanhope Castle Mews rises effortlessly to the top of our list...well done Scott.
Lawrence
Very comfortable and cosy accommodation. Nice location. Friendly and helpful people.
Over the last 20 years or so we have stayed in dozens and dozens of cottages but I have to say that this was without any doubt the one that surpassed all our expectations. It was superb. On arrival there was a welcome hamper including a bottle of prosecco, and our wee dog was pleased to find doggie biscuits and chews and a very comfy doggie bed. The cottage was immaculate with eyepopping decor...we loved it. Within a couple of hundred yards were two pubs, a chippy, and a lovely bakers and teashop ...perfect. I can only rate the accommodation at 1010....so a huge well done Scott, you've cracked it!
WOW! what a little gem. We noticed this property was new to the market and had no feedback. We took a gamble and were not disappointed. The property is small but very cosy. All of the mod cons and two large internet tvs, WiFi and all of the essentials you would need. The owner had even left us a beautiful hamper and a bottle of prosecco. Lovely touch. Just outside of the castles main entrance there is the Durham dales centre which is a small haven of coffee shops and gift shops. Just metres along the road there were three great welcoming puds and a coop, We went to high force waterfall and bowes museum which are both breathtaking. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back.

Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
