East Crossthwaite Cottage Reviews

A brilliant well equipped cottage, nothing not to like. Cosy in a great location the village was very Christmassy local butchers is great. The whole week was great, snow on arrival wildlife of all kinds please feed the robin . The cottage has everything you'll need. The Christmas tree and decorations a nice surprise on arrival. We have booked many cottages around the country over the years none compare to this will definately be coming back.

The most amazing cottage we've ever stayed in. Clean, comfortable, everything you need for a home from home stay including the added bonus of the hot tub. The location us spot on. So much to do in the surrounding areas and the town is so friendly. We're already looking at when we can return!
Then cottage was very comfy with great facilities wi fi hot tub washing machine and all you would need for a relaxing break. I would recommend it to my friends anytime.
This was our second visit to this wonderful cottage. As before everything was perfect! Stunning views, beautiful garden, everything you need is provided. And the beds are SO comfy! By far my favourite of all the holiday cottages we've stayed in.
A lovely weeks holiday in a lovely relaxing cottage. From when we arrived even although it was downpour that evening until we left, we felt so comfortable & relaxed, cottage was of very high standard, very clean & a lovely welcome pack as well. Nearby village, 10 mins walk, had nice places for coffee & cake & places for lunchdinner. Plenty of walks around & a very nice hot tub to relax in later in evening

One of the best cottages we have stayed at. Outstanding views, easy access to shops and other towns and attractions, highly recomend this cottage.ROB & ALICE.
Great place to stay. The cottage was well appointed, comfortable and had all the necessary essentials for self catering. Welcome pack was very much appreciated. Superb views across Crossthwaite Beck to Middleton in Teesdale with lots of wildlife to see, noted the unmistakeable curlew and cuckoo calls. The cottage location enabled us to visit Durham probably a 2 day visit to do it all, Barnard Castle, Bowes Museum, Beamish Museum, Eggleston Hall Gardens the Caf is great too, Raby Castle and High and Low Force waterfalls. Further afield Beatrix Potter Hill Top Farm, Wray Castle and of course the Lakes. Plenty of walks to follow and see the local scenery including parts of the Pennine Way.
A delightful clean and comfortable cottage. Fantastic outlook, very peaceful with walks from the cottage. Great information and maps on local walks provided . A lovely welcome pack on arrival.
Absolutely perfect in all respects.

East Crossthwaite is still my favourite Cottage and location to stay for a complete relax and restore break. Ticks all the boxes providing , peaceful, private, away from it all comfortable and cosy accommodation. Great views from every window. Outside gardens and all areas around the property are very well kept and magical at night, with fairy lights scattered around. Theres beautiful views of the fells and an abundance of wildlife .The hot tub area under a pergola is great and comes with great views. The Owners are the nicest people too. Its unbeatable! Cant wait to book again
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at East Crossthwaite Cottage! A very comfortable place to relax after a walk, do a spot of bird watching and to chill. The villagers are very welcoming and a wealth of knowledge on the area.
Just got back from a weeks stay and we had a brilliant time would definitely go back. Cottage is beautiful, everything has been thought about and the welcome pack was a nice touch. Very clean and modern inside, beds very comfortable and kitchen was well equipped. My only small negative is that I found the pictures of the garden on the listing quite deceptive, it looks as though it has a lot of land attached at the back but in reality the garden is a very small patch of grass up some stone steps. We didnt need to contact the owners about anything Caroline was very helpful on email before we arrived with arrival instructions etc.
A beautiful cottage in a gorgeous location. Plenty of walks and lovely views just on the doorstep. Perfect if you want to relax and recharge your batteries. Would love to come back in the future to explore more walking routes. Highly recommended!
I loved our stay at East Crossthwaite Cottage. Location was great near to local walks and the village and it's amenities was a short walk away. Loved the hot tub and it was cosy being able to have a log fire in the evening from the log burner.
A fantastic cottage in a superb location. A well equipped cottage with many homely and thoughtful touches. We really appreciated details of walks from the doorstep. The hot tub was very welcoming after a days walking
Relaxing and peaceful stay We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location, being from a busy city this was what we both wanted and it didn't disappoint. The cottage was much prettier than the photos show, the owners had thought of everything to make our stay fabulous. A lovely welcome pack on arrival and the hot tub was ready to use. We really enjoyed that and the wood burner made the living room really cosy. There were great walks to do locally, we will definitely be booking here again.

A stunning cotage in a very beautiful part of the world. So much attention to detail in every room. Quite simply, we didn't want to leave and have booked again.
The cottage is lovely, in an idyllic location and was equipped with everything we could need. Everything was clean, the candles and fairy lights on arrival, as well as a hamper of wine and cookies etc made us feel welcome. The beds were supercomfy and we enjoyed having the wood burner on an evening. The children enjoyed watching the abundance of birds in the garden and even spotted a weasel. Thanks for a great week
One of the best of many cottages we have rented over the last 40 years. It was well equipped and very comfortable with good control of heating and parking at the door. The surrounding area has endless interesting walks, wildlife and places of historical interest.
Beverley
Fantastic cottage. Warm, private and a bonus of a hot tub. Abundance of wildlife and walks right on your doorstep. Cant recommend this cottage enough
Jeffrey
The cottage nestles so perfectly into its surroundings. The views are stunning. Perfect location for peace and quiet yet close enough to places of interest to visit. The cottage itself is very well appointed and inviting with a good selection of kitchen equipment, comfortable beds and nice furniture, all very clean and well presented.
Our stay could not have been more perfect. Caroline has thought of everything! We cooked a few times and found everything we could have possibly needed. The attention to detail is faultless. The setting is idyllic and was exactly what we wanted though now were back in the city, the noise here is even more noticeable! Middleton is a short and pleasant walk away and has everything you could need. Make sure you try out the fish and chips. Theres lots to do in the area with or without kids. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
Rowena
A lovely cottage with wonderful facilities. We received a welcome box upon arrival, which is always a lovely touch. The views are spectacular and the hot tub is an added luxury bonus that allows you to soak in the scenery. We will book again and do highly recommend it. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
We had a fantastic week in this wonderful, well equipped and cosy cottage. Loads of little extra touches made it all the more special. Great location, fantastic views and walks straight from the doorstep. The hot tub was an added bonus too and the lovely welcome pack was hugely appreciated. Thank you.
Charlotte
Absolutely wonderful cottage everything you need plus more in the most beautiful setting. We were so gutted to go home. Loved the feel of been in the middle of no where but only ten min walk from the village. 1010 loved my stay would recommend!!!
Louise
Lovely!! Comfortable, homely, well equipped kitchen . Hot tub was a bonus. Good walking and cycling area.
Michael
Absolutely stunning cottage in a stunning location we wanted for nothing in this amazingly well equipped house. Owners absolutely brilliant nothing too much trouble. All amenities just a 15 minute walk away especially the fish and chip shop that good we went twice. Fantastic walking country and less than an hour to durham and Darlington too. Spent many hours sat in the garden and hot tub just staring across the valley that changes scenery every time the weather changes. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to get away to a relaxing picturesque place hoping to be back next year.
Katrina
Stay at this cottage & youll want for absolutely nothing! ! Comfortable, clean, quiet & just absolute bliss, especially having the hot tub to use & an open fire weve already booked to go back!! It is without doubt faultless!! Youve got to try the fish & chip shop in the village they are the best weve had anywhere in a long time & you must visit High Force well worth the visit. Barnard Castle is a lovely town with plenty of shops, a Morrisons & a CoOp for petroldiesel just outside the town.
Very clean. Spa was a treat to come home too in the evening. Rain or shine. Very nice people who own it. Plenty to do. Shops are not to far.
The cottage is idyllic! Such a lovely place to stay, isolated but still near to amenities. Clean and tidy, hosts were amazing, called in on the first night to make sure everything ok then left us in peace for the remainder of our stay, but we knew we could contact if needed. Would definitely return
Melissa
What an amazing cottage, spotlessly clean with absolutely everything you could possibly need to make your stay perfect. I cooked a few times and everything was at hand that you could ever need. Beautiful walks from the doorstep and owls outside the back door! Caroline the owner was brill, she checked in with us the first evening and gave us walk advice! The welcome pack was a lovely thought and much appreciated. We will definitely be rebooking this cottage and would highly recommend to friends and family!
Lovely accomodation. Very clean and well equipped. Caroline very knowledgeable about the walks. Hot tub definitely a bonus after our long walks. Very quiet if that's what you like, which we did. Some teenagers might find it alittle too quiet and no internet signal at times which our boys found difficult to start. Local food store well stocked for our needs. We had a well deserved break.
Heather
The cottage was exceptional, very clean and everything you could ever need to make a perfect holiday was provided. Middleton in Teesdale is a beautiful village and the views are stunning.
Joanne
Fabulous cottage in a beautiful setting. Well equipped and very homely with perfect views across the countryside. Lots of lovely walks around about and fab French restaurant in the village.
Wonderful cottage, comfortable and cosy with a lovely garden in a glorious setting. Walk from the door to Low and High Falls or just up onto the hill behind. No near neighbours yet an easy walk to Middleton for pubs, shops and a great fish and chip shop.
Upper Teesdale isn't the immediate place to think about having a holiday but if you like the outdoor life, it is a great place to go. Ideal location remote tho easily accessible, lovely facilities, great hosts and lots of things to do on your doorstep. A memorable holiday.
A fantastic cottage in a great location. The cottage is just a 1520 min walk to the local village which has a nice pub, restaurant, a small Coop and a couple of cafes. It's a great base for exploring the local area. The cottage itself is very clean and modern. The hot tub is a great addition especially as it has a fantastic view. Would definitely recommend.
This cottage is brilliantly situated, totally stands alone, the nearest neighbours are over half a mile away but then you are only a mile from the village where the villagers are very friendly and helpful. The views from the cottage are outstanding, I could not wait to wake up on a morning, looking at the views and watching the animals and birds. The owner is very friendly and helpful and had lots of advice on the different walks we could do. There was the Pennine way if you want a long walk or short walk depending how you feel and then there was an old railway line with again short or long walks which connected the villages. The hot tub was an added bonus to help relax after the walking. The cottage is well equipped and to a high standard in the kitchen and the bedding, the beds were so comfortable. Kim & Paul
Fantastic location and cottage, Felt remote but also just a mile away from supermarket and town. Stunning views from windows, spent ages just looking at nature walking past. Didnt recognise some of it. A gem!
