Birkett Barn Reviews

We have had an excellent weekend at Birkett Barn! A fabulous house with excellent facilities! The hot tub is large and the house is well equipped for all you will need. A massive thank you to Malcolm for rescuing us two at a time in his tractor when Storm Isha floods blocked the road to the barn! Amazing house & friendly host we cant wait to return!
Andrew
Fantastic property, exceeded our expectations.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful property, and very comfortable. Very well equipped, so nice to have plenty of crockery, cutlery, mugs, glasses, just perfect. The hot tub was very welcome, and so much fun sitting in it while the snow was falling. Thanks for our wine and biscuits.

Its a beautiful cottage , well maintained , only negative points the post ... Its a beautiful cottage , well maintained , only negative points the post code stops you at the wrong destination and we needed to knock on doors to find out were our cottage was , maybe a little sign advising a further couple miles down the road, or info put on the site , also the two telephone numbers supplied to get instructions were not getting answered, hot tub was lovely , clean and warm , we all came home fully relaxed thank you
Colette
Super clean properly which is the most important aspect for me. Great space for socializing and fabulous location
The property is finished to a very high standard is very comfortable and had everything you we needed. Only one minor issue and that was the tv in the kitchen area which we were not able to get any channels on . Also for future visitors , the directions given are rather sketchy . As you pass down the lane on which the barn is situated you drive through a short tunnel which if mentioned on the directions would confirm that you are in the right road.

This is the perfect holiday accomodation. The barn is spotless, comfortable, tastefully furnished and with the most amazing views. The host is very friendly and even got his sheep dogs to give us a small demonstration of their skills. We all said we will definitely come back here.
Matthew
High standards, clean and great facilities as well as a superb location.
Sebastian
Fantastic large and comfortable home with amazing scenery. Furnished and designed to a very high spec. Kitchen was ginormous and very well equipped. Excellent living room, all bedrooms en suite and great size. Hot tub large and very well located with a beautiful view. Excellent location and near wonderful walks and Kirkby Stephen. Only thing I'd ask is that the owners put the house on Google maps. Thank you!
Too much to mention barking dogs kept caged in barn 50ft from bedroom window no let up all day and night a further 3 dogs roaming round constantly barking . Baby gate did not fit owner left towel on top to try and fold down side to stop it and child from falling downstairs . No storage space ie wardrobes in 3 of the bedrooms bedroom downstairs had beetles in so son and partner could not leave anything on the floor . Hot tub unusable if raining cheap gazebo 100 would have solved this. No outside space or privacy only saw owner who lives next door when we were leaving and finally asked if everything was alright !!! I have all relevant photos and video evidence to show all concerns but doubt if these will be answered as I have been on the internet and looked at all the unhappy customers that you already have. Will definitely do my homework next time.

Birkett Barn is without doubt the best property my friends and I have stayed in and weve stayed in a lot. The whole barn is built to a very high spec, its comfortable, very very spacious, every bedroom has its own ensuite and the kitchen is amazing, extremely well stocked with every utensil you can imagine. The barn is extremely clean and comfortable and, as we are a group of mature women, for once we had the appropriate space needed for 8 people. We will definitely be back
Sharon
Myself and seven friends visited recently for a girls gettogether at the end of February 2023. We went with the intention of having a pjs, food, drink, games, chatter and plenty of laughs type of weekend, and we had a fabulous time. The barn is extremely well kitted out, and very spacious. It certainly didnt disappoint. The hot tub was just lovely, and there are doors to the side of the barn that take you out to it. We loved it so much we booked to go back for next years little adventure while we were there!
Brenda
Great location for a relaxing break with the family. It had all the facilities you need for a good time. Hot tub was frequently used by all. Complementary treats were an added bonus. Would highly recommend this property. The men spent a day fishing at Bessy Beck while the girls went shopping. Win win all round.
Could not fault this property, it was amazing. The owners are so friendly and love to stop for a chat. We will definitely return

A very comfortable house set in a remote location with wonderful views of the surrounding spectacular countryside, It was very new and extremely well equipped and when we arrived it was in pristine clean condition. It has a huge kitchendining room and a very spacious ,warm lounge on the upper floor. Kimberley
A perfect rural getaway for a family! Birkett Barn well and truly exceeded all our expectations. Photos from the website do not do it justice. The most serene setting and surroundings, peaceful rural location but within easy reach from the main roads. The house is really just stunning. Modern, spotlessly clean and still cosy. The huge kitchen was our favourite space decked out with everything you needed and more! Hot tub was thoroughly enjoyed both in day time with the rolling hills, and at night time with a sky full of stars and the rising moon! Friendly owner, loved being on a working farm, greeted by chickens every morning. Would love to come back, thank you!
Gillian
We had a great time, the house is amazing, very spacious and clean. The kitchen was brilliant, really well equipped. The hotttub is a great addition, it's very relaxing looking out to the country side. The owners were lovely and really friendly. Definitely recommend!

Wow what a place. Exceeded our expectations in every way. Beautiful scenery, clean, equipped with everything you need, and even things you didn't know you needed! Owner friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone. Pictures really don't do the place justice! Will 100 be bak....if just for the hot tub!
Birkett barn is the perfect place to stay to get away from it all. Beautiful barn and stunning scenery. There is a lovely walk right from the front door. A perfect getaway and we would highly recommend.
A beautiful place, very well equipped. Gorgeous views of the Eden Valley. They owners were very friendly and helpful.
Anthony
A beautifully appointed property set in idyllic scenery. The instructions regarding finding the property are spot on, perhaps the use of what3words as an alternative would get you literally to the door. The kitchen was spacious with everything you might need. The week we were there was so hot the plumbed in fridge freezer with dispensed ice and cold water was a god send. The bedrooms were all comfortable, each with there own ensuite. Plus 2 additional toilets one up stairs and one down. A large spacious lounge upstairs allowed for family get togethers. The hot tub was the most used piece of equipment, each evening we relaxed in the spa, enjoying the tranquility of the scenery and on our last night watching a beautiful harvest moon rise over the hills. Overall a wonderful holiday providing memories for a lifetime.
This is a lovely and peaceful place. The house waa amazing there was nothining needed even down to the little details. The owners were very nice and friendly. The kids lived in the hot tub next time we will have to come with out them to get our chance. I will recommed this place to everyone who wants to go to Cumbria. Waking up to the view waa a joy. Thank you to Malcom and his wife!!
Fantastic property. Couldnt fault the place. So spacious and immaculate throughout. Hosts very helpful. A lovely peaceful and scenic spot would highly recommend for those just wanting to get away away from it all.
Jonathan
My friends and I drove up here for my birthday. Couldn't have asked for more. Every room was perfect, the kitchen and living room were huge and fit us all very comfortably. The outside was lovely, it's more or less in a farm so there's farm animals dotted around the area with stunning views. Hot tub was a lovely touch. The walking routes were great, and not far to nearby foodpubs.
