Lakeshore Lodge Reviews

Beautiful lodge with amazing views, we will be back in summer to enjoy the outside space a bit more.
Gareth
Ok but hot tub was not clean, sticks, leaves and dirt. freezer unplugged so water everywhere needed to be cleaned. King size bed, the slats were brokenbits missing so collapses Not enough light on steps, elderly or children would struggle.
The property was in an amazing location, had everything we needed, especially space, for 2 adults, 2 teenage boys and a dog. We would definitely book again. In a previous review I read it mentioned about the comfort of the bed, but as someone with spinal and joint issues I can assure others that the bed was extremely comfortable and didn't cause me any issues.
This lodge was a perfect base for touring the Lake District. Its well equipped. Home from home. The views are lovely and would definitely recommend.
Philip
Absolutely beautiful lodge my wife and I were very pleased brownie points for me as I chose it and she said I did good
The triple bi folding doors do not work! ! Upon arrival on 1523 I reported the fact that there was no key for the bifolding doors, after several conversations I was told maintenance would visit the following day this didnt happen. I was later informed that the part on order to fix the doors was arriving on Friday 5523 the day we were leaving. Reading the reviews from summer 2022, it seems there was already an issue but yet still not fixed! Very disappointing when you have lovely weather, a lake view and a dog and the doors are unusable! Other issues to mention is the parking space is very tight to manoeuvre in & out of and definitely not for 2 cars as advertised. The decking is on need of attention, and there is a chip on the glass balastrade that needs replacing as its very sharp. Great location on site, but the communication from SykesLake District lodge holidays was both disappointing & frustrating.
Robert
Thanks so much for a lovely stay! The location was perfect and so close to the water, we had our paddle boards out every morning and night! The property was beautifully decorated throughout, although the bed in the master bedroom couldve been far comfier!
Nicola
Lovely property. Easy to access, very clean and well maintained. Hot tub was wonderful.
Jeanette
My second year at the lodge and still totally fabulous
Jonathon
3rd year staying here & already booked for 2023. Great lodge, great location but outdoor area decking in need of some maintenance as not up to high standard of rest of lodge.
The lodge was nice. Was in a nice location Inside the lodge was very clean and the bed linen all fresh.
Excellent location looking over the marina beautiful glass ballastrade round the decking area snd very nice inside
William
A very comfortable stay in a clean and well furnished lodge. 3 minor points, the decking needs recoating as commented on previously, theres insufficient hangers and the gutter near the hot tub is blocked causing rainwater to overflow.
The decking could do with a jet wash as it was green in many areas. The directions to the lodge could be clearer The main bedroom mattress was very soft as in well used before hand and could do with changing
We loved the location and lodge however had chosen a pet free lodge due to allergies and there was a lot of white dog hair in the lodge on the sofa in particular plus all over the steps and door Mat. The Henry hoover provided in the lodge we used to clean it up smelt of dog.
Ashleigh
Parking tricky with larger vehicles Need larger waste bin Fridge didnt shut properly Neighbors keen to point out they own their lodge In a derogatory manner not property owners fault Beautiful location and lodge was clean and comfortable, for the price paid, the small details above were irrelevant. Thank you for letting us share your lodge
Pamela
Property was amazing very clean, had a problem with the radiator in the kids room n phoned on the Saturday morning there was someone there within the hr! Was great everyone was very friendly, had everything we were looking for, for a great relaxing holiday to recharge our batteries! Only 1 complaint n was about the restaurant! When we went up for dinner 1 of the serverswaiters was rather creepy! At 1 point we actually told him to stop coming up to our table while we were eating! Other than that was fantastic and would definitely rebook! Thank you for a great vacation! Kids are missing it already, so are the adults xx
Beautiful lodge with everything you need in a lovely location
Elisabeth
Lovely property and view. Points to consider The bedding looks very tired and dated and wasnt placed on the beds properly. The lampshades in the en suite bedroom were worn. Nowhere for coats. No iPod docking station found. Fridge door doesnt close properly and there is no cupboard food storage other than the fridge and freezer. The stairs to the property could do with some anti slip edging.
The lodge was in an excellent location, however the parking at the lodge was difficult as we have a large car, easier with small car. There was a lack of storage in the bunk room, to be precise none, also the kitchen storage was lacking, we had to move stuff about to get space to store food. A lovely lodge but very lacking in space for a 6 berth lodge.
Lovely lodge as last year, problem with fridge still exists though, it isn't ... Lovely lodge as last year, problem with fridge still exists though, it isn't suitable for 6 people, need something with proper shelves WiFi in the lodge would be great too x
Jeanette
Fantastic location with amazing lake view The lodge was gorgeous with many ... Fantastic location with amazing lake view The lodge was gorgeous with many unexpected extra features example would be tvs in all rooms Well maintained and I will return for sure
Deborah
An amazing break one of my first in the Uk as someone who usually travels abroad. The lodge was clean and comfortable. We had a couple of issues TV not working etc but this was resolved by chris a very helpful gentleman who replaced the TV in 24 hours. The views of Lake Windermere are fantastic I can recommend the location enough.
My wife says the washing machinedryer is poor, cycle takes forever and the dryer doesnt dry. She has similar reservations about the dish washer saying she had to wash pots in the sink before we left because she didnt want to leave pots for the next guests in the way they came out of the dishwasher. We reported issue with the fridge door seemed to be coming off at the hinge and the call out engineer was quick to come out and fix it. The settees have seen better days and theres no coffee tables to stand a cup. The seals on the bathroomP shaped shower look dirty but I think they are just old and discoloured with use. When we were packing to leave we found our wash bags in the cupboard under the sink soaking wet because the is a leak under the sink something we said not have to time to report all in all a great location with a fantastic view over the lake in serious need of a full refurb. This review is intended as a constructive review as we really like White Cross having stayed there 4 or 5 times. It looks like the lodge is very well worn and fixture and furniture old. The TVs are old and dont have HDMI ports.
To be clear you are paying for the location on site and the view with this lodge which are both second to none. We stayed here two years ago and had a great time so decided to rebook. Unfortunately our experience this time wasnt as good as before, we got no welcome pack or any information about the site upon arrival. The lodge is now looking very tired and in need of repairupdating, sofas are worn, fridge door is hanging on for life, toaster didnt work, both the metal gates have dropped, to name a few things. It is also in need of a major deep clean. Definitely not 5 anymore. We still had a amazing time in the Lakes though, just wouldnt come back to this lodge at this price unfortunately.
Caroline
Ive just read the review from Mr Metz from Wigan and I have to agree with everything he said the decking was bad, weeds all around hot tub area, table and chairs by hot tub were filthy as were the glass panels around dont get me wrong the lodge is a great size and we had a fab weekend the location of the lodge is amazing however the cleanliness in certain areas were not great and as this costs a bit more to hire I found some of the furnishings were worn mainly the 2 sofas they were very tired the fridge door dropped every time it was opened. We also experienced issues with bees u def the soffits which wasnt great having a dog we love staying at White across Bay and have done for many years now but have to say I was slightly disappointed with this lodge and hope some improvementsupdatescleaning can take place
Needs a deep clean inside and out, windows were disgusting, the decking needs attention, weeds need removing from the hot tub area. We reported Bees that were living in the Soffits. Parking was difficult due to the narrow entry.
Fantastic location amazing decking area. Many faults within the lodge itself ... maintenance could be better improved
Mr Simon Dooley
Although our stay was cut short this year as always the lodges are amazing and staff are wonderful, we stayed at lakeshore lodge for the second time this year and again The lodge is always clean and well maintained, already booked for new year 2021and may have a sneaky weekend in the summer! 5 star What did you enjoy most about your stay? Mr Steve Phillip
This getaway was important to our family. Having lost my 34 year old son Jordan exactly 12 months earlier, we needed to find somewhere peaceful and comfortable and this lodge could not have been better. We've always loved the Lake District and Jordan did also it's like coming home. The Lakeshore Lodge was clean, spacious, comfortable and being situated just a few yards from the Lake edge, meant we woke to the most spectactular views each morning, especially as the fortunately bright sunny days we experienced, allowed us to clearly see the snow covered mountain tops in the distance. The Lodge was well equipped and the hot tub a definite winner. During our stay, we encountered 2 problems the barier keycode, we were issued with, didn't work and on our final evening we experienced a powercut blackout. On both occasions though, a call to the site's maintenance number solved these issues promptly. Wonderful stay and would definitely rebook, What did you enjoy most about your stay? The lakeside location What one experience e.g attraction, walk, day out would you recommend for our future guests? Visiting the Crafty Baa pub and restaurant in Windermere
Mr Ian Anderson

Fantastic location with lovely views over Lake Windermere. Lodge very clean and tidy. Only 15 min drive into Ambleside or Bowness. Great few days break away! What did you enjoy most about your stay? Views of lake. What one experience e.g attraction, walk, day out would you recommend for our future guests? Lake walk
Miss Laura Hodgson
We had a great time away and have booked again for next year. Lodge was clean and nice and modern. Temperature was just right and heated up quickly on the first really cold weekend of the year! Hot tub was lovely and the view amazing. Beds were so comfy as were the sofas, patio furniture was just right. Just a couple of things that havent stopped us booking again but might help others The top outside step had an extra piece of wood that was a bit of a trip hazard when coming down the steps.... most of the group mentioned this...wonder if it can be changed somehow? We couldn't recall if the lodge had it's own wifi or not so would be helpful if it specified this in the folder...it gave general info about it but even though we asked at site reception, we are still none the wiser if there was a lodge wifi....it said if there was the password would be on the router so we assume as we couldn't locate a router the lodge doesn't have it's own wifi. This would be better if made clear in the folder. There was a shelf missing on the fridge. What did you enjoy most about your stay? View What one experience e.g attraction, walk, day out would you recommend for our future guests? Open top bus to Grasmere
Mrs Anita Mcclelland
Lakeshore is a beautiful lodge and we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and waking up to the beautiful peaceful location. We were very lucky with the September weather so that helped too. Parking can be a bit of a challenge if you have a large SUV and you have to reverse into the space facing out the way don What did you enjoy most about your stay? The location and hot tub What one experience e.g attraction, walk, day out would you recommend for our future guests? Brockhole Manor is amazing for children and adults only 5 minutes in the car. Lots of outdoor activities and beautiful setting.
Mrs Karen Spencer
We had 2 families staying in lakeshore lodge and the lodge was amazing. It had everything we needed including the fabulous views of the lake and the added bonus of a hot tub. Our families had a lovely stay, the beds were comfortable and waking up to the lake view was just breathtaking. Our only problem was with the fridge as there were no shelves in it but that can easily be resolved. The ensuite bathroom was lovely and spacious too. I would most definitely recommend this lodge to anyone. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The comfort and views What one experience e.g attraction, walk, day out would you recommend for our future guests? Brockhole
Mrs Gaynor Boulton
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay. Although this lodge has three bedrooms one bunk the inside space is quite compact. This is made up for by the huge decking and fabulous hot tub though and, of course, the great view of the lake being just 3 down from the lake. It What did you enjoy most about your stay? Views from lodge What one experience e.g attraction, walk, day out would you recommend for our future guests? Brockhole is a 10 min walk. Aria falls are fabulous

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 4 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 10 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 15 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 18 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 22 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 23 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
