Owls Nook Lodge Reviews

Joanne
We all absolutely loved it, after reading previous reviews i was expecting the lodge to be tiny and unwelcoming but it was absolutely not, it was lovely and cosy it was clean and very comfortable. There was 7 adults and we didnt feel cramped at all, the hot tub was a bonus and was used every day, the only negative we had was there was only one bathroom but we made it work. It was so lovely of them to leave us fresh towels and the little things like washing up liquid, clothes and bags. We will definitely book this lodge again
Maureen
Advertised for 7 people but really not enough room, we were 4 adults and 3 children and very crammed. Lodge bedrooms rather tatty with paper coming off wall. No outdoor lights working at hot tub area. Despite asking for this to be addressed Would not recommend this lodge for more than 4 people.

Amazing property, really clean had everything we needed, really close to ... Amazing property, really clean had everything we needed, really close to reception and main complex, fantastic onsite activities for the kids couldn't fault it will defo stay again
We were comfortable and enjoyed our weekend overall, facilities were decent. I would recommend however that the property was spruced up a bit, its looking very tired. Cleanliness wasnt great either, dead flies all over the ceiling in the bathroom, a Coke can full of cigarette butts left by the hot tub presumably from previous guests, deck not swept etc. Expected more for the price, which was too high
We have stayed at this lodge before, and it was OK. This time we were disappointed. The lodge needed a good deep clean outside, windows, doors, cladding and decking was dirty and grimey. Hot tub was cold and the edge was quite grubby. There was a smell of block drains inside and no mop.

We had a lovely stay in this lodge. Good location and very ckean. The site itself is beautiful and staff very friendly. The restaurant and bar again staff very good and food is good quality. Just loved exploring the Lake District. The outside lighting near hot tub does not work but the maintenance team were helpful but it needs the owners to sort this. We will return.

Lovely location, but very tired lodge, 2 of the bedrooms had damage to the walls, the dressing table chair is broke the base comes away from the seat, the draw front at the dressing table missing, windows blown, out side of lodge was filthy, the floors was dusty and still had hair all over them, kitchen was gruby, sofa and beds not very comfortable, utensils in the kitchen either damaged or missing, the deck where the hottub was right next to the bins, so your plagued by flys, generally the bin area was awful rubbish all over the floor had to see sight reception about it being cleaned up, and no privacy while in the hot tub,
Shelley
We were a bit apprehensive due to the other reviews, however we had a lovely stay. The lodge was clean, beds comfy, once the hot tub heated up it was so hot, we all loved it after a day in the water. Cant fault it for the price we paid.
Amanda
I feel a lot of the recent reviews have been a bit unfair. I was a bit reluctant to book at first because of them but I am glad I did. The lodge itself is a bit tired, but it is clean and well equipped. We where a group of two adults and three teenagers so was plenty of room, but think would have been a bit of a squeeze with 7 ! I did not experience any discomfort with the couch and the beds where really comfortable. We did cook while we where there and instructions of how to use the hob and cooker would have been useful but we worked it out after a while. The hot tub was great we used it lots. It was cleanhot and roomy and was maintained everyday by a member of staff . We had no issues with the proximity of the bin shed that has been mentioned in some reviews in fact if it wasnt mentioned I wouldnt have known it was there !! The park is great the pubrestaurant is very dog friendly and nice we eat there a few times. We got passes to use the pool but only used it once but it was ok. There is a bus stop just outside the park to take you to AmblesideWindermereKendal and beyond but be aware they only run until about 89 pm. Overall we had a lovely chilled holiday and I would recommend Owls Nook Lodge.

I have previously phoned on the day of arrival to advise that this 'Owls Nook' lodge was exceptionally shabby. I spoke to a young guy called Luke and followed up with photos. I have had NO response at all. The lodge was very, very tired, wallpaper falling off inside, large cobwebs in corners. dirty and blown windows. Cramped for space. Outside was worse.... whilst it had a hot tub as advertised, this was not a pleasant experience, the lodge is next to the public bins and then a view of the dilapidated shed right next to the tub, meant flies everywhere and a grubby view. The lighting on the deck was filthy. I am surprised you even advertise this lodge. I am more surprise that you didn't even respond to my complaint but you did send me a message to say... We hope that we have now resolved your situation, with reference number COR325466CF
Lovely stay and park however, There was a couple of issues which I think you should address 1. The smell of raw sewage in the back bedroom was really bad luckily we didn't have to sleep in that one 2. There was a lot of black mould in the cupboard where the hoover was, which you could smell throughout the lodge 3. The tiles in the shower were slightly lifting in places 4. Maybe cleaning behind the cushions on the sofa would be a good idea as I put my hand down the back to look for my little girls dummy and there was a piece of god knows what down there. Other than those we had a wonderful stay thank you
Eleanor
Me and my partner booked to stay here for 4 days Monday to Friday in May. Cabin was lovely and clean and communal rooms were big. Advertises it sleeps 6 adults but honestly feel like it would've been quite tight with 6 people in, but for just us two it was fine. Livingkitchen area was spacious and very modern. The highlight for us was definitely the hot tub, which is available to use between 10am10pm. The site itself has a pubrestaurant but it is on the pricier side. Location is great, only a short car or bus journey to Ambleside and Windermere and there are bus stops just outside the site gates. There are pool facilities but we didn't end up using them as the hot tub was enough for us. Only downside was the wallpaper was peeling a bit on two of the bedrooms. I'd definitely recommend this lodge for someone visiting the lakes for the first time like us or just fancying a relaxing hot tub stay.
Lovely lodge in a great location, definitely looking to return
Yvonne
Enhoyed the stay. Hot tub was a lovely extra. The inside of the lodge was good with everything we needed. Quiet park. Only downside was outside needed a bit of TLC and the sofa wasn't very comfy. Overall enjoyed our stay
We had a lovely time at the lodge the children really enjoyed the hot tub and we found everything was as it said it was and at a great price!
Location was ideal. Lodge was not clean. Beds and bedding substandard...spare pillow had black mould ,mattresses well passed their sell by date with springs protruding in top bunk bed. Double glazed window panes at the front of the Lodge failed adding to the overall unkempt appearance of the Lodge. Wanted to take advantage of the swimming pool on sight only to be told no further bookings were being taken until after our leave date, very disappointing. Would revisit the site but not this particular Lodge.
Samuel
We had a greet break away, booking was easy, location is amazing. Owls nook was lovely and clean and hot tub water was changed before we arrived. There are a few bits that are a bit dated that could do with some attention but I guess that reflects in the price. Other than that very happy and it was really quiet end of feb which was nice and relaxing.
Claire
Weve holidayed through Sykes for a number of years now and I like to go by my own judgement on the property we rent and not be put off by reviews. However, I can honestly say that this was the most disappointing stay weve ever had. We arrived late and went straight to the site restaurant which was fab. My son went to get into bed to discover blood on the quilt cover. Clearly the bed hadnt been changed and considering the late check in time of 4pm I very much doubt that any of the beds had been changed. Sykes assisted us the following morning and I asked for all beds to be changed. Sykes contacted me back to say that someone was coming out to change the one soiled bed. Not at all impressed with this. The hot tub was cold till the second night. I appreciate that its cleaned out but to have already wasted a whole day was disappointing. It was never hot and after half an hour you had to get out as it definitely wasnt warm enough to stay in. The third day we were having my daughter come but had to turn her away due to the stench coming from the boiler cupboard in the smallest room with the bunk bed it smelt like the sewers and was awful. On the day we arrived the window in that room was open and we couldnt understand why, now it was obvious. I contacted Sykes and they said theyd send someone out but it wasnt worth it as we were going home early. A real disappointment in all. The couch needs replacing as its so un comfy and the lodge could do with a clean outside.. I dont think this lodge is big enough for 7 people though as it was a bit of a squeeze. A shame really as it could have been nice
Matthew
We have stayed here before and it is a lovely spot. The lodge itself would benefit from a little updating, nothing major but there is a nasty dintgouge in the shower wall and the bedroom blinds are a little tired and in need of replacement. The proximity of the lodge to the bins especially the hot tub, which just becomes unpleasant when you're being bombarded by critters causes a real issue with flies so perhaps providing some repellant candles or something of that ilk would help we ended up buying buying a fly swatter. All in all, we love it at White Cross Bay I must be about our tenth stay there and enjoyed our break. Although probably not at this specific lodge, I hope we will return in the future.
The blinds in the 1st bedroom did not open and close properly we had to just tie them up and the big blind in the small bedroom would not open at all which made the already dark room very dark. Extractor fab in toilet needed cleaned and did not work properly which caused a smell. The living area looks like it was recently refurbished but was not big enough for seven people
Sharon
Had a great stay. The lodge was very nice. And hot tub was great although situated in wrong place mainly in shade with lots of flys and insects landing in it. All the bedrooms are very tight but workable, the kitchen didnt really have utensils needed. No sissors or sharp knife no pizza cutter. A slow cooker wud be perfect aswell. Saying that we wud return tomoro.
Had brill time at owl Nook been to there 3 times shame we couldn't get the same again at owl Nook clean and tidy hot tub brill. We be back again we had lovely time
Beautiful lodge in a fab location. Very clean with everything you could need, we loved our stay and will definitely book lodges with you again. The only comment would be the blinds in the bedroom, they are very difficult to use and if children there could be dangerous! A little more storage maybe needed in bunk bed room as wardrobe is boiler.
Claire
Lovely lodge, we loved staying in it, very clean and loved relaxing on the varanda and in the hot tub. The lounge & kitchen area were lovely nice surprise to find a new sofa! The bedrooms, however basic, suited our needs fine. Had a few issues with the blinds in the bedrooms, wouldve found curtains easier. Perfect location with easy reach to facilities.
Kathryn
Lovely lodge, spotless, fab location. So peaceful and relaxing. Perfect short break.
Davina
Loved our stay and will be booking again.
Andrew
The WiFi situation could be improved significantly. As the world moves forward WiFi is becoming more and more important to people and some people may need to work whilst on holiday now. Id suggest an independent WiFi system is installed on each cabin.
Audrey
The cafe you have some of your staff were rude a part from that every thing was ok
Lodge was great we noticed some negative comments about cleanliness prior to going but it was very clean and modern kitchen etc. Hot tub was a bit cold on arrival but warmed up and worked perfectly. Good facilities. Could do with an extra key for a lodge of 7
Natalie
The lodge was lovely and the hot tub a real bonus to be able to relax in the evenings . The only negative I can comment on was dirty kitchenware in the cupboards that we needed to clean before use but this did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay. Excellent communication from Lake District Lodge Holidays would book through the company again.
Bonnie-mae
The lodge was lovely! Very clean and tidy. The beds unfortunately were not very comfortable and the walls super super thin but I guess that's what you expect from a chalet. The hot tub was lovely but extremely difficult to get in and out. Overall it was a positive experience though, everything was there that we need and the dishwasher was an excellent extra that was very needed! Who wants to wash up on holiday!

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 4 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 10 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 15 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 18 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 22 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 23 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
