Chalet 5 Reviews

It may be of use to purchase a small couch or provide more suitable chairs to sit on other than a stool and vanity chair. This would have made the night time watching TV more comfortable and a slightly bigger air fryer to be able to cook for more than 1 person at a time.
We recently stayed in Chalet No. 5 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was excellent value for money and the chalet was very clean and tidy upon arrival and the hot tub was all ready when we got there. There are lots of leaflets and a booklet of things to do in the local area, which is a great touch! I'd highly recommend trying The Foxhound Inn, which is 10 mins away and dog friendly! The site has a little play park for the little ones and the room was more than big enough for 2 adults, a 2 yo and a dog. Also to mention, there is a air fryer, which was a great unexpected addition to the chalet. The owner was also incredible when we realised we left something there. We'll definitely be back, thanks again for the lovely get away!

Loved the chalet it was clean and well equipped and the hot tub was lovely even in November. Great location had a lovely day out in Scarborough and York. My partner and I and our dog had a wonderful stay.

Very different feel to all other places visited through Sykes. Didnt feel like we had privacy walls were paper thin. We could hear the neighbours and the cleaners in the morning. No welcome pack or gift which is very unusual for Sykes properties. This is what demonstrates that the owner cares and is passionate about what they do. It doesnt have to be extravagant. The only interaction we had from staff was being told to put our dog on the lead. Feels like theyve been chucked up to make a pretty penny with no real thought and love gone into it. We often revisit properties booked via Sykes but this wont be one. The positives were that it was very clean and smelled nice upon arrival and was reasonably priced although I have paid similar and got much better value for money.

After some initial confusion as to whether or not the booking was pet friendly, we were excited about our booking. On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was bright and clean with everything needed for our short stay. The lack of a bar restaurant close enough to the site restricted our choice of evening activity due to the need to drive but we nonetheless managed to entertain ourselves, largely thanks to the hottub which was very pleasant. Somewhere to hang towels robes in the hot tub area and the provision of somewhere to place drinks while in the tub are our only suggestions for improvement. Unfortunately on our final evening the occupants of one of the neighbouring chalets caused significant disturbance, disrupting the sleep other visitors and ourselves. The shouting and banging resulting from the drunken behaviour carried easily and very loudly through the chalets which was obviously not ideal. At 3 o clock in the morning we also weren't sure how to report the issue which at times sounded particularly nasty and carried on for some time. Overall, we had a lovely stay with the Snooty fox with the only issues being outside of their control and we would therefore definitely recommend.
Stephen
Overall, the stay was great and the location was really good easy to find and useful to go to places such as Scarborough and Filey we timed it well for a food festival. Others advised they got slippers, robes and towels, however we only had towels. Other than that, the room had everything that we could have asked for. One thing missing from the Sykes Cottages website is that there is an air fryer if you wish to take good for that. The only downside for us was the fact that the beds springs seemed to be broken on onside in the middle meaning it wasn't the best nights sleep that we could have had. The enclosed hot tub was nice meaning we didn't have anyone else using the hot tub with us. We also decided to get a takeaway from The East Takeaway. It came early and was sublime. Would recommend if you don't want to cook. We brought our dog with us and went for a lovely walk each evening under the stars. Couldn't fault it. She loved it also. Myself and my partner would definitely recommend this site.
We knew the chalet was far away from everywhere and we didnt try the Snooty Fox, as was only open the last night of our stay. We had a car and knew there was nothing close by so not too much of a problem, we drove around the surrounding areas. The bed wasnt very comfortable which was a shame, but everywhere was super clean and the hot tub was perfect! Nice to have a little secluded garden area available , and the robes were a nice touch. Overall lovely last minute stay!

We both had a fabtastic time in Chalet 5, which was very clean and very comfortable and had everything you needed towels, robes, etc. We couldn't fault it. The hot tub area was great, very private and lovely finishing touches with lights. Has lovely picturesque surroundings the park its self was lovely and clean and very friendly people. Was just want we needed would definitely book again and we will be recommending it to everyone. Thank you..

We had a lovely stay in shalet 5. Hot tub lovely.
You need a proper fridge. . Put the microwave on the table and put a bigger fridge in..
Lack of suitable fridge with ice box big problem! The one provided is small microwave size with no freezer box. We took a cold box with litre of milk which could not stand upright in the fridge, butter salad stuff and ham and cold drinks which would not all fit in fridge. Nowhere on site to refreeze our ice packs. Reception closed to speak to staff. No cooking facilities. No shops or anywhere to eat nearby, needeed a car to travel miles to get anything. Pub on site only open at weekends. We resorted to buying ice from supermarket to put in our cold box but only lasted 24 hours and then due to the heat wave supermarket sold out! It did spoil our holiday
Rheanna
We had a lovely stay, the surrounding area was lovely and peaceful and picturesque. The chalet was lovely and clean the area looked well maintained and the hot tub was clean. Would definitely benefit from a new mattress in the room and could have done with a mop of some sort when coming in from the hot tub flooring does get a bit wet. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely book again in the future.
Claire
Would have been nice to have had a freezer with the fridge for ice etc, however I loved my time there. I felt comfortable, had my own privacy, the hot tub had its own privacy and key which I thought was nice. I just made myself at home really. Thank you Ill be booking again in the future
Property was clean and modern. Room was nice and cosy. Hot tub was very clean and worked perfectly. Only thing i could pick at is the fact shops and food places etc was atleast a 20 minute drive and the mini fridge was small so couldnt hold fresh food.
Sophie
This place honestly was lovely, the place was lovely and clean, very warm and cosy place to stay. I enjoyed my week of staying. I will defiantly be back. They constantly asking if you need anything else in your room which is good. The hot tub privacy was lovely. However there were no lights in the little garden.
There is nowhere to cook food smaller than I expected and no shop or place to ... There is nowhere to cook food smaller than I expected and no shop or place to eat nearby bed was very low and would be better if the hot tub had a cover overhead as most of the year it rains
The room was gorgeous. There was a huge flymidgie problem, the seal on the bathroom was broken.
We found the property to be very basic for the amount paid, have stayed in better. Door handle wasnt great! As previously been mentioned. Fridge didnt work, milk went sour. Bathroom was very cold. No sitting facilities other than a chair. Bed very low, Hot tub pleasant, but no lighting. Bath robes provided were filthy! So did not use. The holiday park itself was very clean and quiet, and the guy in the bar was a nice personolder guy thought the pub would have been nearer, and shops. Overall, was ok, not terribly impressed as was our Anniversary
Really nice property in a really good location. Good communication beforehand making everything straight forward.
It was really lovely and the hot tub was awesome with the enclosed area with lots of privacy. Only thing we noticed was the door handle was a little stiff and it felt like you had to properly slam it to lock. I'd also recommend a small under counter fridge for big bottles of water or a beer fridge as the little one struggled to cool anything. That's really reaching though because we loved our little break here.
Theresa
Fabulous little chalet, bed a little on the soft side though. Great base for exploring the area. A little disappointed that the pub wasnt open during our stay
Great holiday in a good location , I would reccomend this to family and friends
Ellie-mae
Great place to stay with great facilities and clean, the staff were very welcoming and nice to talk too. The only thing was no WiFi but they were getting it sorted as we saw the work men. Hot tub was lovely and clean. You do need to drive to get about but the beach down Filey was lovely and dog friendly. We wouldnt definitely come back and have recommended to others already!
Keisha
Had a fantastic time beautiful location and wonderful property. The images looked exactly like the chalet. The private hot tub was lovely and cleaned. Would recommend this locations and will definitely visit again. Thanks to the manager Sam who was very friendly and helpful!!!
The chalet was Absolutely lovely so was the hot tub very clean and tidy very ... The chalet was Absolutely lovely so was the hot tub very clean and tidy very welcoming people but could do with a bit more information about the surrounding area an places of interest ie shops restaurants etc but very nice an peaceful
What a great place to stay. Highly recommend . Just a couple of points definitely not complaints. 1 maybe some sort of covering for the hottub just so it can be used all year round. 2 maybe provide dressing gowns just to go to and from the hottub. The dawny pub just down the road does amazing food especially if you have a big appetite. Wonderful stay. Would go all year round if hot tub has a cover. Will definitely be booking again.
The property wasn't listed accurately at all. The listing appeared to offer walks, local amenities and has views of the countryside. When we pulled up to the site, there was an obvious odour which remained the whole time we were there.. and there was also a strong odour from the chalet. There wasn't anything in the chalet like info guide etc to offer any 'things to do' close by, and as there wasn't any WiFi we was able to look at what was available. The pub that was advertised wasn't open. Don't feel that this property was at all like advertised. Very very disappointed.
