About Cunliffe Barn

Picturesque converted barn, located in the West Yorkshire village of Esholt. The property combines stylish modern interior with a homely feel, and it’s perfect for couples wishing to take in Esholt and the nearby countryside.

Staying at Cunliffe Barn really will provide guests with the feeling that they are in a home away from home, and its two sitting rooms really emphasise this. Both contain comfortable seating, but they differ in what else is on offer, the first features a beautiful woodbuner, an ideal spot during the winter months.

While the second which forms part of the open-plan living area features a Smart TV and also a radio, which helps to bring you and your loved ones closer together. Situated behind is the stylish kitchen/diner, complete with breakfast bar.

The final room on the ground floor is the utility room. Upstairs are the property’s two double bedrooms, both of which provide views overlooking the garden, a nice way to start your day.

Also located on the first floor is the bathroom. Relaxation continues to be the main theme as you open up the doors to the garden, as located at the end of it is the hot tub, so after a nice meal, why not take the party outside and maybe indulge in a glass of bubbly?

There’s also a patio area with a table and chairs should you fancy an alternative to dining on the breakfast bar. Located just a six-minute walk from Cunliffe Barn is The Woolpack pub, which guests may know from the hit television series Emmerdale.

Despite its fame, the pub is open to the public and it offers a good range of food and drinks, so whether you’re a fan of the show or not, it’s still well worth visiting. There are plenty of other activities in and around the area, with golfers recommended to take in a round at the nearby Bradford Park Golf Club, while fans of the countryside should visit the Yorkshire Dale National Park, located just 16 miles away.

Cunliffe Barn Reviews

Steven
It was a wonderful stay at Cunliffe barn the hot tub was amazing always warm only down side was not under a canopy if it was raining, the log burner was a welcome addition too just no starter pack but was quickly rectified, no black bags & 1 tea towel for 4 night stay buy none of these minor points would stop us from booking again had really quiet & peaceful stay even over new year, nice pub a short walk up the lane.
This is the 3rd time we have stayed here. Its in a fabulous quiet location with some great facilities but the things I have pointed out before have just been ignored. I took my own bath mat this time because the bath is very slippy and I fell last time. There is no handle to grab hold of or anything. 2 dessert spoons for 4 people really isnt good. I bought some from Asda for you! The light over the hob still isnt working even though I pointed it out last time. Glad to see the dishwasher has been fixed though! It wouldnt put me off going again but listening to customers surely is the right thing to do?
Connie
Beautiful cottage, would definitely stay again, we were a little concerned about booking after reading previous reviews but I can wholeheartedly say this was a very clean & tidy and pretty too, lots of home comforts so please dont hesitate to book. The welcome hamper was great, had a very relaxing break so thank you.
Second time staying at this beautiful barn. It really is stunning, very quiet but well situated for getting out and about. Only criticism is a few maintenance issues which if rectified would make this place second to none. Light on cooker hood doesnt work Lack of dessert spoons only 4 whilst loads of knives and forks Dishwasher top tray faulty. Was same last Nov, reported but nothing done. Needs bath mat very slippy No washing up liquid. Not everything goes in the dishwasher! Solar light near hottub not working Apart from these minor issues highly recommend and will be back in the future.
This is an amazing cottage in a lovely quiet location. The hosts were very helpful. It is convenient and close to supermarkets and other amenities. Definitely a home away from home. Thank You
Claudia
The Cottage was lovely inside and out. It is set in a lovely village. The Hot Tub was great. We will definitely book again
Reshma
Great place all the family loved spending time there.
The cottage is very charming and well situated. The layout is perfect. The welcome hamper was a very lovely touch. The bed was so so comfortable Id like to take the mattress home!We had intended to use the hot tub, but we didnt as we felt a bit put off from what appeared to be overlooking security cameras from the property behind. The cover is also in need of replacing. Our break was a plonk down and relax for the week. We had planned some evenings in the local pub and were disappointed to find, although a stones throw away, it was closed awaiting new management. However this didnt spoil our week as we ordered take out from the list in the welcome book left by the owner and stocked ourselves up from the very locally situated supermarkets. The property was lovely and cozy. However as noted in previous reviews there were cobwebs and some minor diy jobs needed to restore it to its full splendid potential screw pops in the plaster work, the plinth in the kitchen broken and peeling under counter tops, the frying pan could do with replacing, the heating was a bit temperamental, some of the curtainsblinds, some soft furnishing could do with a clean and curtains rehanging and the windows could do with a clean to make the most of the views, minor issues really as overall we had a very relaxing stay with some amazing view from the property. As an add on I would love to see somewhere to hang coats and personally would have much rather have snuggle on the corner sofa watching the tv in front of the log burner in the smaller lounge with the other seating in the fab kitchen dinner. However this may only suit winter which is when we visited.

This property is beautiful and we had a relaxing family stay. It is close enough to go in to a city or stay in the countryside. Perfect location. The cottage was so homely and we really appreciated our gift hamper. We would definitely stay again.
Thank you for a lovely cottage in a beautiful situation with the most generous welcome pack weve ever had. Very well decorated for Christmas and all facilities worked perfectly. Wed have welcomed a table rather than the breakfast bar and the dividing wall between the two bedrooms is somewhat thin snoring alert!
We arrived to a clean, warm, cosy cottage! Everything was absolutely perfect. The christmas decorations gave it that extra touch and really got us in the Christmas spirit. Thank you so much!
A beautiful, quiet and comfortable barn in a great position. The furnishings are fabulous and a real mix of traditional and modern. Spotlessly clean oven, microwave and hob as is the rest of the place. Nice touch with welcome pack with milk, crisps, bread, butter, biscuits and wine. The hot tub is just heaven and the dressing gowns very useful when walking across the garden to it. There is no mention in the description of it having a dishwasher which was a bonus and although we didnt use them, the washer and tumble dryer would be very useful if walking, cycling etc in inclement weather. Constant hot water was great but the central heating seemed to have a mind of its own sometimes some radiators hot and others cold. Minor negatives were a lack of plastic glasses to use outside not a good idea to use glass and in the hot tub and complete lack of suitable dishes to use in the microwave. Also think the mattress in the king size bed has seen better days and should be replaced. Apart from these it really is a lovely place and would definitely stay again.
Damian
Beautiful place, very relaxed feel which is what we went for. Very clean and had everything we needed there. It was so comfortable. We will book again in the future and I would recommend it to others.Thankyou.
Great property to stay at, very warm and clean, great location.
Some cobwebs, touching up in places holes in wall in bedroom from key. Plymth in kitchen and utility not fixed kept falling down dangerous as it fell on my sisters foot! Dishwasher rubber trim very lose, just needs fixing. Hot tub lovely, decor lovely. Good social space in kitchen with it being open plan. We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend to family and friends. thank you.
Saniyyah
Everything was lovely apart from the cleaning they were webs in every room, as if it wasnt cleaned before my stay. Would recommend if you dont mind webs and spiders but personally I missed out didnt stay the both nights just during the day as I kept seeing huge spiders near my bedroom and webs and dust
Richard
Our stay at Cunliffe Barn was fantastic. It was exactly as advertised, in a very peaceful and quiet area. The Barn its self was very spacious, easily big enough for 4 people. We loved everything about it and would definitely visit again, if I had to complain the only issues I would highlight would be that there was quite a few cobwebs that could do to be removed and just small areas that have been repaired that could do to be 'touched up'. Apart from that it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Caroline
Nice property, lovely settin,g hot tub great & welcome hamper a great touch. Not given 1010 as for us the lack of a blind in the bedroom and thin curtains meant bedtime was tricky we went in may so light at 5am and not dark until 910pm & travelled with a 10 month old and 2 year old so may not be an issue for others! and lack of a dining table was disappointing there is a counter with stools but not enough space for 4 adults to comfortably eat together which was a shame as the house was otherwise very spacious. Cots & highchair provided which was a plus. Thanks for a nice stay.
This was our second stay at Cunliffe Barn, we love the place and Helen the owner is fabulous. The only negative we have is the lack of comfy outdoor furniture and a BBQ. We had great weather and would have been great to eat outside
Carole
It was a beautiful house with a great hot tub. Lovely welcome hamper. Everything was excellent.
Fabulous property really clean and in a great location! We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and our welcome hamper a thoughtful touch. The only minor negative was that we couldnt get the outdoor light to work maybe the bulb had gone? and we werent sure what to do with our recycling. But we had a great time and wanted to stay longer hopefully we will be booking again!
Jennifer
Beautiful house, lovely location. Modern facilities. Cosy. Great hamper on arrival with all the basics. We had a week of heavy rain and winds but still had an amazing time! Wed love to stay again. Tip Take logs, kindling and matches for the log burnerenough was provided for two fires but no matches at all Tip Take flip flops to walk to and from the wonderful hot tub. Big towels and dressing gowns are provided. No guest book, so here are some tips for during your stay Science and Media Museum in Bradford worth a visit, theres a great cafe called cake Ole very close bywe loved that cafe and they also have branches in two local towns. Golden Acre Park in Leeds for a walk Esholt Woods in the village just behind the Woolpack pub couple of minutes walk from the house Saltaire to visit Salts Mill was great and free! Harrogate for a wander Leeds for shopping Cow and Calf at Ilkey wear good shoes, lots of rocks.
Nadine
Thank you so much for a lovely stay! I really appreciated his well thought out your property was and the little extras such as the hamper, kitchen equipment and things that you may forget to bring! It had all been very well thought out! Your property is stunning, location stunning and we really appreciated how you had switched on the hot tub for us and had the property well lit for us when we arrived. We absolutely loved our stay and would stay again. Only thing is downstairs had been a little chilly and we couldnt seem to get the downstairs heater to switch on or to get to a high enough temperature...still an amazing stay though!
Bradley
Only thing it needs is shelter outside
Beautiful property, photos do not do it justice! Overall, a well equipped and meticulously thought out property allowing for a comfortable stay. The hot tub was great and the log burner was just what was needed for a winter stay. Nice to have Christmas decorations during the stay. Eye for detail was impressive throughout property and it is clearly a well looked after property. Welcome hamper and basics including milk, ice, cleaning equipment, etc was a really nice touch. If there were was any room for improvement, then potentially new mattresses for the beds for optimal comfort. However, we cannot fault this stay. We really enjoyed our time at Cunliffe Barn and would highly recommend to all, 1010

Cunliffe Barn was delightful. Lots of space and extremely well appointed and furnished. Its a wonderful quiet location, but within easy driving distance of food stores etc.
Jessica
Cunliffe Barn was absolutely beautiful. Exceeded our expectations! We loved the hot tub, the lovely sitting rooms, and super comfy beds! It was a home from home! And we truly felt we escaped lifes worrys in this lovely place. Thank you for a fantastic week.
Catherine
The barn is a lovely relaxing space, with a mix of both modern decoration inside and a beautifully renovated stone exterior. Super location for exploring. Well done Helen and the team you should be proud of this little gem. We will be back, Cathy
The village itself was so tranquil and peaceful, the barn and location were amazing. We really appreciated the welcome hamper and the barn itself was bigger than what we first thought and we loved having the hot tub and sit out area at the front of the property where we could relax whilst the sun went down. We will be looking to come back again thank you for having us.
Sharon
Beautiful barn conversion with everything you could need provided. Welcome pack lovely touch
Sharon
The location was beautiful, and the hot tub amazing. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch. The food at the Woolpack Pub was really delicious and this is walkable from the barn about 5 mins. We will definitely look to return to Cunliffe Barn.
A very well appointed cottage in a location that is great fit for exploring this part of the Dales. Helen is a very attentive and friendly host and we appreciated her attention to detail.
Kellie
Cunliffe Barn was a luxury cottage perfect for our long weekend getaway. The hot tub was a welcome evening retreat to relax after exploring the miles of countryside during the day. Fantastic home comforts and modern decor a real home from home! Highly recommended.
The cottage we stayed in was absolutely what we were looking for . ... comfortable , well equipped and perfect for a lazy weekend for just the two of us. The only points we would flag up are about the hot tub . Which was one of the main reasons we book this cottage as we didnt want to do anything all weekend. We would have appreciated the hot tub to have been ready to be used on our first afternoon at the cottage but it wasnt ready until the Saturday morning. Also having spent most of Saturday in the hot tub we both found that three days later and numerous showers we are still really itchy and my partners skins has been really affected in some areas. We feel there must have been too much chlorine used? It smelt very strong but presumed it was normal at the time. This didnt ruin our stay but we thought it worth letting you know just incase it happens to someone else.
Sharon
The cottage was equipped with everything unity could want. The welcome hamper was fantastic, thank you, a lovely surprise. We had a lovely time and would definitely recommend if.
Catherine
