Midway House Reviews

Louise
The house is lovely and as described but is looking alittle tired in places and could do with a freshen up. There were 7 of us staying there and we were all very comfortable. The house had everything we needed and the added bonus of having full sky TV was great. Location was fantastic, short taxi ride into Skipton but the village had lots of pubs, restaurants, shops etc. There was a bus stop across the road from the house. I have feed some issues back directly to the owner as I feel that these should not reflect the house as it is really nice. Would definitely go back.

We had a lovely stay at Midway house. The property was clean and well kept and we used the hot tub on all 3 nights we were there. The welcome pack in the fridge was a nice touch. We found the double bed on the top floor to be extremely comfy and fully intend to revisit the property in the future. We contacted the owner with a few questions on where to visit and eat who was very helpful. The property manual is worth a read pink folder on arrival especially on how to use the hot tub. A great visit and look forward to coming back we love Yorkshire!RegardsTom
We had a pleasant stay and the house was warm and cosy with comfortable beds. There were a few maintenance issues which the owner dealt with promptly. The kitchen and dining areas are better suited to families with children as only 5 people could sit around the table. We were a party of 6 adults and catering was a little cramped.. All in all Medway house is good value and the hot tub welcome after a day on the hills.

It is a very beautiful house . The issue is they were not enough bins for disposing waste, we had to buy black plastics as a way of managing our waste but still there was nowhere to dispose those big black pastic bags The other issue is jacuzzi sterilisation because one of my friend developed some skin infection for the first time in his life after using the jacuzzi and we wondered if the water get sterilised and decontaminated more often But all in all we enjoyed our stay ..it is a very beautiful house and it is very comfortable
Lovely property in a great location with plenty of space . Beds were really comfy and the sky package was great . As others have said its tired in places and has stained carpets in one room and doors etc that need some attention . Also although no fault of the owner the parking space is really tight even for a normal Ford c max so not a big family car and the neighbour with the adjacent spot parks incredibly selfishly. We asked him twice to move over so we could use the space which he did but then we gave up as he did the same each day .
A few issues with cleanliness and some diy issues. Not enough to spoil our trip but sofa under the window the left side seat was not useable. Couple of door knobs issues on bedroom doors. Shelf in front bedroom was needing attention. Top floor bedroom door does not shut properly. We needed to clean the bbq before using it. As I said the house is lovely, in a glorious location. The cleanliness didn't bother us but may with other people. We had to leave bottles outside on the patio because thw recycle bin was full. I did Google the nearest recycle site bit was to far away. As stated we had a wonderful trip with family making memories and we would stay again. I did clean up and hoover downstairs before we vacated the property...
The property was clean, but very tired, marks on carpets, broken button on cloakroom toilet, doors that dont close properly, velux windows dirty, handles too close to door jam caught my hand several times the couch sunken in living room and both showers were leaking. Many of the plates had chips out of them. The back garden was compact, but of a squeeze for 9 people and 2 dogs, not enough outside chairs and the cover over hot tub was pointless and a hazard. We all hit our heads on it at some point. The levels in the hot tub werent correct and it could have been fresher. The back garden could also have been better maintained. Good location for shops and pubs, but very noisy.
Rebecca
Great property! It was a home away from home, only better as it had a hot tub! We all commented on how comfy the beds were. Lovely small gestures of milk, eggs and curd in the fridge and plenty of individual packs of biscuits and tea and coffee!! Well placed for days out in the dales. The only bit of constructive feedback would be to have a shower outside by the hot tub as it's requested to shower before and after use of the hot tub, running in and out of the house whilst dripping wet gave us a modicum of entertainment! Hope to be back in the not too distant future!
Victoria
Nice, comfortable property. Bit tired in places but with 3 kids and a dog with us that wasnt an issue

Midway House was a beautiful cottage with excellent facilities
Pauline
We had a brilliant time cottage had everything you needed was very spacious grandkids loved the hot tub.
The radiator in the middle bedroom is not working, the bathroom shower trim needs to be replaced and when it was windy the roof was very noisy. We loved our stay it was amazing.
Stayed over Xmas for 4 nights 8 Adults and 2 children. Property well equipped for everything needed and even Xmas decorations put up for younger ones. Small issue with hot tub but very quickly sorted. Nice area for walking and eating out would recommend this property.
Had an amazing stay, home was exceptionally clean, comfortable, very cozy and furnished well, very comfortable beds, kitchen lovely and had all the appliances and kitchen accessories you could possibly need, small hamper of milk, eggs, butter, biscuits and jam was a lovely touch. The hot tub was amazing and very private, the house is just off the high street with shops, eateries and pubs, so very central, with amazing views of the hills in the distance . I would definitely recommend this property, a lot of thought has been put into what will make guests stay very comfortable and enjoyable
Lovely spacious house with everything you need to make it home from home. Beds were lovely and comfortable and the butter, milk, eggs and jam that were left were a lovely touch. Everything we needed to know was included in a folder including information on things to do in the local area and places to eat. The hot tub was ready to use straight away and was a huge hit. If I was nit picking I would say that some TLC is needed in places for example one of the bedroom carpets is very badly stained. However overall we had a lovely family stay and would stay here again.
Yvonne
We had a wonderful stay and the cottage is well equipped with everything you need. It was very clean when we arrived and the hot tub was wonderful and all ready for us. Cross hills is a busy little village. The only thing we bothered about was the parking but we managed. We definitely will be booking again.
Upon entering the building a distinct smell of dog hits you! Carpets stained within a inch of their lives! Not enough seating in the kitchen and outside to fit the occupancy. Wall sockets need attention. Had 250 damages removed from my account without sufficient notice! Will not use this property neither skykes again.
Melanie
Really great stay and everything we could have asked for. We used it as a base with a group of adult walkers.
We had a lovely stay at Midway house. Plenty of seating on the lounge although was a squeeze in the kitchen. It is well equipped although some egg cups and sone more deep breakfast bowls would be great as sone crockery couldn't go in the microwave. The milk, eggs, butter and marmalade was a lovely touch. Beds we super comfy, slept like a log. Some of the mirrors were hung by a tall person as us shorties couldn't see. And maybe a couple of mirrors in the bedrooms nearer a socket as struggled to see to dry hair.Only one allocated parking and we did worry at first as 3 parties in all. But we managed off street. And only a seconds walk. The hot tub was great although on a main road. But there again we weren't quiet so it didn't matter anyway. All in all a lovely few days away. Would definitely recommend
Vanessa
Had a fantastic stay . Loved the property and its location . We look forward to booking again .
We found the house easily following the directions the owner provided. A good base for getting to other places We all found the hottub great fun
Lovely cottage. Really liked the hot tub, Sky tv and comfy beds. Could maybe do with a tv in all the bedrooms, rather than just the two biggest. Bigger pans would also come in handy for large groups at meal times. Other than that, we had everything we needed and really enjoyed our stay. Oh, one more thing. Most of the pubs in the village are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but theres a brewerybar a little further down the road that is open every day till 9pm, and this was easily the friendliest drinking place we visited. On the whole, a lovely place to stay.
Fantastic special birthday weekend spend here with family. Close to lots of shops & a lovely park. Very central. Clean & tidy property with everything you need. We will be back!
An excellent place just to unwind and recharge your batteries. Everything you need is at hand to make your stay special . Definitely recommend and will look forward to a return.

I would recommend it, I Had a Brilliant time.
Just had a lovely family get together at Midway House. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you need. Beds are comfy and the hot tub is a lovely extra. Great facilities nearby including The Old Bank for a superb Sunday lunch. We will definitely return.
Had a fantastic week at Midway House. The property on arrival was spotless and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Hot tub was ready to use and although the weather was mixed we managed to also make use of the bbq which was easy to use. Well located to visit the surrounding areas, we particularly enjoyed Skipton on market days and Haworth. We used many local businesses and found them all very friendly with reasonable prices. The butchers has the best sausages and the gelato shop for their amazing waffles. Sunday roast at the Old White Bear pub and family meal at 22 The Square, fantastic service and great food. Plus Gallaghers for a few drinks with the very friendly locals. We had two dogs with us, be aware that the parks have rules that dogs must be kept on a lead and stay on the path. If you would prefer to let your dogs have a good run, turn left from the house and head towards the park, but when you get to the bridge cross over and go down the footpath, nice walk past the stream and there is a big field to your left up some steps. Thank you for a lovely stay.
We had a lovely stay, thank you! The little extra touches of the biscuits and bits in the fridge was very nice. Lovely comfy beds and sofas too!
Well appointed property We had a great stay , 4 adults and 2 dogs. Property was very clean and the welcome pack was very much appreciated . Smart tvs in 2 bedrooms , kitchen and lounge were a bonus . Beds were very comfortable with good quality bedding and towels provided. We made the most of the lovely hot tub and barbecue . The owner was very informative and obliging . Would definitely stay again and recommend. Many thanks .
Joanna
Great house. Much bigger than the pictures made it look. Facilities are great. There wasn't anything we needed that wasn't there. And full entertainments packages on the TV. Kitchen was brilliant. Every cooking instrument needed and a big table to eat at. Lots of towels which is always needed for a group of 5, 3 being small children. We had a great stay and it was a brilliant base for Leeds, eureka museum, Ilkley, Otley and Skipton markets also Bolton Abbey and Hesketh Farm Park were an absolute highlight.
Midway House exceeded our expectations! It was ideal for our young children and dogs, and as fans of the Bronte sisters it is only a 10 minute drive away from Haworth. We also enjoyed walking in the Yorkshire Dales around Skipton which again was only 10 minutes away. The property was very clean and well equipped, we particularly enjoyed the hot tub. The master bedroom has a very comfy bed with good ensuite facilities. Although the weather wasn't suitable for barbecuing there were plenty of local restaurants and takeaways in the delightful village of Crosshills. We will be back next year!
The owner has clearly acted on previous feedback! We were a little concerned reading the previous comments but on arrival it was evident that the whole property had been thoroughly cleaned, there were clothes hanging facilities in all but one bedroom the room with single beds so we used the HUGE wardrobe in one of the doubles, and mirrors everywhere you could reasonably need them. There was even a brand new, unused gas BBQ! We would describe the property as very well equipped and comfortably homely rather than boutique chic which suited us given this property is child and pet friendly we had both in our party and we wanted to just relax. Theres even a hose in the rear garden with hot & cold water for washing down the dog and kids
On arrival the property looked as though it had not been cleaned properly. There were bits over the carpet , crumbs on the work surface, dirty finger prints on ensuite door and doorway, pots left on the drainer, dishwasher hadn't been emptied and the bbq hadn't been cleaned. Also between the 4 bedrooms only one had wardrobes! I spoke to the owner who asked if we wanted a cleaner to pop round for an hour on Saturday morning at 8AM. We thought this was totally unacceptable as we were only there 2 nights and hoped the property would have been clean upon arrival.
