Coalhill Farm Byre Reviews

Lovely cosy place; the hot tub was impressive! No better place to be in when the weather is bad for any outdoor activities.. As the tub was in an enclosed space, it was well protected from the howling winds outside. Very caring hosts!
Ian
I could not fault this property in any way. As good a property as I have stayed anywhere in the uk.
David
Magnificent, outstanding, immaculate there are not enough superlatives to describe The Byre at Coalhill Farm. It has everything and more to make your stay special. The views are stunning and a dip in the covered hot tub is the perfect way to unwind. Theres no need to watch the tv or be on your phone as the highland cows, alpacas and goats are perfeRead morect entertainment. Louise and Allan are prefect hosts and so welcoming. We cannot wait to return Hide
Heather
Brilliant accommodation. Fab views . Everything you need in the house. The welcome basket and Arran products a fabulous touch really made it
Lesley
We stayed here for 4 nights and it was amazing. I was recuperating from a leg operation and needed to use crutches so it was important that the cottage was mobility friendly and it was. Great showers and fabulous beds. The bedding was of excellent quality and the beds are huge! Great nights sleep after lots of sea air. The location is fantastic and being surrounded by animals on the farm was brilliant, a lovely welcome home after a day out from the Llamas. The hot tub was a bonus too.
David
We had a lovely week, the cottage is homely and relaxing. Highlights were seeing seals on our trip to Arran, beach day at Seamills and walking the Coalhill alpacas. Thank you Allan, Louise and Freya.
Roni
Our stay here was absolutely wonderful. A beautiful setting for a lovely, light, very clean and extremely comfortable cottage. The beds were huge and comfortable, the sitting room was very relaxing and everything we needed was available in the kitchen when we did want to cook an evening meal. Our 14 year old very much enjoyed the lovely hot tub in the evenings while we sat on the bench on the patio with a glass of wine and a book. What could be nicer? Thank you so much Allan and Louise.
Robert
A very well equipped cottage in a smashing location on a working farm. Waking up every morning to see the alpacas, goats and highland cows was great for the kids. There was no excessive farm noises at all which surprised us. The hot tub like the property was well maintained and use well during our stay. Allan and Louise are fantastic hosts and were on hand if needed. We would highly recommend this cottage and one which we hope to return to in the future.
Yvonne
We really enjoyed our stay. Good location (although you need a car!) with beautiful views and we liked being on the farm. Spotlessly clean, comfortable and we had everything we needed. Owner was very easy to communicate with and responsive. Outside seating and we were lucky with the weather so were able to enjoy it! Wouldnt hesitate to recommend it . We were 4 adults but our grandchildren would have loved it too. Thank you!
Susanne
Well appointed cottage in a fabulous location. Set on a working farm and very quiet. The cottage has everything you need for your holiday and is exceptionally clean. Good location for exploring the locality. One recommendation though- if you wish to go to Arran youll need to book the ferry weeks before your holiday. The owners are exceptionally wel coming. Best experience for us was meet and greet alpacas and walk them. Hot tub has fantastic views to enjoy while relaxing.
Miriam
Very comfortable cottage clean well equipped.
Archie
Very well maintained property if you are looking for relaxation this is the place to stay
Ian
A warm and comfortable property with easy access to good roads and local costal routes. The Byre is in a raised setting with views towards the coast Disappointing though that due to its position and layout the views from within the property (other than the hot-tub house) are extremely limited.
Mike
Enjoyed our stay in this tastefully restored farm building. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming and we appreciated the small welcome hamper.
Sharon
The whole place was great.
Mark
Excellent accommodation in an ideal location for a relaxing holiday.
Elizabeth
Lovely property in a fantastic location. Fabulous views from the hot tub. Plenty to do in the locality. The icing on the cake are the alpacas, Pygmy goats and highland cows. Fab!
Lana
Amazing place, we enjoyed the hot tub, watching the goats, alpacas and Highland coos. Highly recommend the alpaca meet and walk they are very friendly and soooo soft I could cuddle them all day. The owners Louise and Allan are lovely and very helpful. They live just behind the place so are handy if you need anything. But out of sight if your lookin g for privacy. Ideally located to be remote but only 5 mins drive from shops, restaurants and ferry for Arran. Thank you and We will be back
Ann
We had a wonderful holiday at the farm. The 3 views are amazing. You can sit in the hot tub and look over to Arran and watch the barley being harvested. You can watch the alpacas and Pygmy goats in the field or can see the reservoir and Hamish the Highland Bull. He is so friendly. The Reid family make you feel so welcome and at home . We loved the meet and feed the pigmy goat and alpaca time. The accommodation is peaceful, clean and comfortable. The farm is a great base for travelling about.
Douglas
We had a fantastic stay! Absolutely loved what they have done with the Byre. We stayed with our 11 month old daughter and it was very baby friendly! Would highly recommend as a self catering destination with a young child. Alan and Louise were very friendly and super hosts. Also the view from the hottub is absolutely stunning.
robert
This cottage is a complete home from home, the hot tub was amazing. It was clean and tidy. The farm animals are pretty cool. In terms of location, the cottage is situated within driving distance of Largs which is probably the more commercial 'seaside' location. Seamill beach is sandy and clean although we couldn't find any facilities at all but for an evening walk it's lovely. We went over to Arran which is a real treat and a must! Bute was lovely.
Terry
No everything was great , the location was ideal 10minutes away from the local ferry crossings , the views from the location was absolutely breathtaking . Im happy return again
Jun
5 stars holiday cottage! Thank you for the fantastic Scottish hospitality. Idyllic place for watching the alpacas watching us! We also love the peaceful countryside with lake/hillwalkings.
Andrew
Lovely cottage. We enjoyed our stay, with spectacular views al round. Hosts were very welcoming and having alpacas, goats and highland cattle just outside the door was an added bonus. Would highly recommend.
Helen
The cottage is possibly the best home away from home we have stayed in. Clean, comfortable, quiet and relaxing but not too far off the beaten track that you need to do lots of driving to visit the coastal towns. The hot tub cabin with sea views over to Ailsa Craig, is a genius touch. It was great to soak after day trips walking on Arran and Cumbrae . Allan and Louise were excellent hosts, available if required and respectful of our privacy otherwise
Sarah
The Byre at Coalhill Farm has been thoughtfully finished, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Tasteful decor throughout, whilst maintaining some of the building and areas history. Spacious bedrooms with lots of storage, plenty of towels, and robes for the hot tub. A selection of books and games to utilise, Smart TVs in each room and a detailed information pack listing all the necessities. A definite home away from home!
Michelle
Wow we had a fantastic stay at Coalhill Farm. It was everything we wanted and more. Incredible view looking on to the reservoir, down to the sea, up to the windfarm and my favorite the goats, alpacas and highland cows around us. The cottage is fantastic, immaculate, really well done out with underfloor heating, lovely hot water, hot tub with the in credible views and it is well equipped and has plenty of information of what to do around the local area. Highly recommended! We would 100% return
Keith
We had a great time staying in the Byre. Meeting the Alpacas is a must. The cottage was well equipped and comfy and the hot tub was nice to chill out in after a days exploring. The location is good for day trips to Arran and Cumbrae its also close to the Ayrshire Coastal Path. Some nice restaurants near , especially The catch at Finns we had some l ovely seafood. Our hosts Louise, Allan and little Freya were lovely and we would recommed a stay here it has a bit of everything for everybody.
Rasa

Were happy with the accomodation and enjoyed it despite the bad weather. The host kept checking on us if were okay. Its very clean!!! 5-star accomodation. Androssan is not the best place but the location of the cottage is near to Glasgow and just over an hour drive to Edinburgh
