Lindisfarne Cottage Reviews

The cottage is perfect, we went as two couples and the layout allows for plenty of personal space, it was very warm and welcoming with a lovely gift package of essentials to settle you in. Kim was always available if you needed anything. The village has two very nice pubs serving good food, the village shop serves an array of goodies and there are plenty of options for dog walks right on your door step. Highly Recommend.
Victoria
A group of 4 with 3 well behaved dogs stayed here, the cottage was lovely, brilliantly located to visit all the surrounding area. Two excellent pubs nearby, would recommend the Black Bull for Sunday lunch. Local shop also excellent.
Great cottage with everything you need,5 of us had a great time, spotless, great ... Great cottage with everything you need,5 of us had a great time, spotless, great location, wee shop and pub that does food just up the road
Lovely property. Great for dogs. Just lacked a few glasses, serving spoons etc but otherwise well maintained and very helpful advice from property manager. Excellent location for Northumberland coast. Brilliant village shop 300yds away fresh cooked produce, butchery etc and two good pubs.

What a fabulous place. Set in a quiet little village with a couple of pubsWhite Swan is highly recommend and a very well stocked village shop. The house is so well laid out and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with all the things you might need to prepare and cook meals. We have had a fabulous week and it was so nice to get back on a rainy day shut the door and light the wood burner. From the outside pictures it looks quite small but it is very spacious inside with plenty of room for six adults. Would highly recommend this house and hope to be back again at some point.
Great property. Comfortable with good facilities. Really helpful caretaker. The welcome pack was a nice bonus and we had a great stay there.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable and well equipped nice welcome pack ... The cottage was very clean and comfortable and well equipped nice welcome pack parking for one car but plenty of parking space in the village
Really enjoyed the stay at the cottage and it is a great location in the village and Lowick is a great village to use as a base for seeing the area. All the facilities at the cottage and the size of rooms were also lovely. Only comment on maintenance. The following are not working the cooker extractor, the vent extractor in the back bedroom ensuite and the bath tap dripping in upstair bathroom. This did not impair our holiday, however these small items should be fixed as the back bathroom needs airing as moisture can't escape. The leaking tap in top bathroom is just a cost to the owner. The range cooker is great, but kitchen smells when cooking. I opened the window but still can be fixed. Would I rent this again... yes we loved the location and house all the same.

Disappointed in the upkeep of the cottage. We found the kitchen in need of a deep clean. The cooker hood didnt work. This was mentioned in a previous feedback post and it should have been repaired. The cooker is covered in grease as are the utensils and hooks next to the cooker. The smoke alarms were non existent in the living room where it has been removed and the wires are hanging down. The one in the dining room was hanging off the ceiling. Is this even legal? Shouldnt the cottage have working alarms to get approved?? There was no instructions for the cooker and I could have not get the smallest oven to work. The fridge had a smell and needs a deep clean. No welcome pack which considering how expensive this cottage I would have expected something. No tea towel in the kitchen. No extra bin bags. I dont expect to have to buy them so I can empty the bin more than once a week! In the downstairs bedroom, off the dining room, the bathroom extractor didnt work. The bath smelled disgusting and the drain seemed blocked as the shower filled with water and drain away as it should. I booked for 6 adults but was only left towels for 5. Only one set left in the nook. Luckily Id brought a towel with me. Upstairs the shower seals were black with mould at the bottom. Very off putting. The shower didnt drain properly either. I was worried it would overflow the tray! There is no plug in the sink. My husband had to use an aerosol can lid to be able to shave. This is surely a basic requirement! The bath taps dripped constantly. The soap left for us was almost empty. No other toiletries left. The garden was big but the tables hadnt been wiped The garden furniture was dirty and filled with leaves under the cushions. The cushions were covered in bird poop which had obviously been there for some time. We were very lucky to have such a sunny week and wanted to be in the garden as much as we could. There was no umbrella to give some shade. Again I would have expected this as standard. I booked this cottage for a family trip to celebrate my husbands big birthday and spent more than I would normally. Im disappointed that this cottage has not been kept in good condition. The pubs in the village are nice. A 5 minute walk will take you to the shop and first pub. The food was good but we had to sit in the bar with the dogs and its a bit tired. Its a good 9 minute walk to the Black Bull. The food there was great and the surrounding were very nice. Beautiful part of the world to stay and we enjoyed our holiday

We had a lovely time here the area is beautiful and we were lucky with the weather. The property however is just a bit tired with the need of a refresh and update. Disappointed with the cleaning with bits of food left on utensils and plates. The cooker hood didnt work which meant the smoke alarm in the dining room going off when anything was grilled. Its obviously been like that for a while as the smoke alarm is hanging off the ceiling probably due to someone whacking it with a towel to try and get it to stop. A mismash of glasses and a rubbish corkscrew. The towel rail and the extractor in the double downstairs bathroom didnt work and sadly, it wasnt until we removed the bedding from the downstairs double bedroom to find no mattress protector and a very stained mattress yuk. One of the sofas legs came off when we tried to access the electric plugs, I did bring a few items to the attention of the owners by WhatsApp but they didnt bother responding. Decided to book elsewhere for next year and will not be returning.
Lovely location with excellent facilities very dog friendly as advertised. Great size freezer for storing dog food in a bonus when you feed raw. Great to have a bedroom downstairs with access to the hot tub. Everything you could need in the kitchen. Thank you we had a lovely time.
Michael
Great property with lovely owners who go out of their way to make you feel at home, a fantastic location in the heart of Northumberland with a great local pub and shop on hand for all needs, would definitely stay again.

Well where do I start. Booked for Xmas 2022 in November 2021. The description is very inaccurate. I flagged this with skyes and they said it would be updated. Driveway for 1 car. Any others have to park across the road at the village hall. Upstairs bathroom has 3 broken tiles around the bath that is inset. The garden needs a good clean, so slippy from algae on patio. Hot tub was very dirty, all bits in the bottom, so only used once. Also needs painting. The garden needs a good tidy up and some attention. No blinds or curtains in dining room but got blind rail. No welcome pack as advertised Sofa had a broken leg so in the end we had to remove all feet off the sofa. Stairgate on bottom step is dangerous. No where to put your foot apart from standing on it. Advertised as 2 x fridgefreezer. There isn't. There's only 1 fridge freezer. The fridge manages to freeze everything even on the lowest temperature. The washing machine bleeps the while time through the cycle. Dishwasher doesn't wash properly. Read reviews from last year saying armchair has broken leg is now in dining room, which yes it is, you can see the leg is broken. No full sets of crockery. A few of each from a set. Reported a leak in dining room that got worse throughout the week. Was reported to owner. After returning home I get an email saying owner has reported this as dog urine. Which it absolutely is not. And also apparently dogs had scratched the door, which the dogs have never done, they were never left on there own. I feel like the owner is just trying to pass damages on. I had many concerns from other reviews before arriving. Sykes assured me multiple that would all be rectified but unfortunately not. We travelled 6.5 hours to get there. Would not return. While place needs a good clean and refreshing up. Cobwebs on ceiling and black dust on light fittings

Great holiday cottage, very well maintained with everything you could need. Fantastic hot tub, enjoyed our time there once again.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. On arrival what looks like a small cottage was actually like a Tardis inside. All the rooms were very spacious and tastefully dressed with more than ample room for a family. 2 pubs and a shop in walking distance what more do you need. Would definitely recommend staying here
The cottage was lovely and clean and warm. We had a fantastic time and the cottage was everything you could wish for. The only thing was the oven door was broken when we arrived and the Hoover didn't work. As there was no WIFI and no phone signal we could not get in touch with the owners. Lowick is situated in a fantastic area, and there was plenty to do and see. The 2 pubs were very welcoming to us and the 3 dogs, and the village shop was very well stocked. All in all, one of the best holidays we've had. Highly recommend this cottage. The hot tub was fab! Jane
We were so looking forward to staying in this lovely cottage, but we were disappointed to find that after a nine and half hour journey, the owners had not even left any milk to at least make a cup of tea, so we popped up to the nice little local shop. So no welcome pack. The cleaning was not up to a high standard especially the kitchen, where we found dirty plates and crumbs in the cutlery drawer. We had to wipe down all surfaces, wash cutlery, crockery and cups before we used them. We tried to ring the owners who did not get back to us after leaving a message on their answering machine. There are other issues which need to be addressed and the owners have been made aware of them. We did not let this spoil our holiday. So many places to visit, such a fantastic area to visit. The cottage layout was fabulous and well thought out, but is not suitable for disabled people as there are steps everywhere in the cottage. We loved the little lights on the ceiling which made you feel you were sleeping under the stars. With some attention to the cleaning and maintenance as necessary this cottage could be 5 stars.
On arrival the cottage was clean, cosy and welcoming. The cottage is beautiful with plenty of space, amenities and a brilliant hot tub. The village is lovely and peaceful with an excellent village store and 2 pubs. It was ideal for a base to explore Northumberland and Scotland. The owners were contactable if needed and were helpful and answered questions straight away. We have had an amazing week, wanted to stay longer and would definitely stay here again and recommend to others
Beverley
The cottage was lovely, looked on the small size from outside but really surprised when we entered it was roomy , cosy and really comfortable. Bedrooms were spacious and bed quite comfortable and loved ensuite with each room.We enjoyed our stay and loved exploring the village, book bus stop was a bonus for me.Had a great stay, recommended a stay
The cottage was great for what we wanted. Three en suite bedrooms were perfect. Note that if you have small children the bedrooms are at three ends of the house perfect for us, a teen and a parent. Some of the comments are a little unfair. Theres a couple of things that need updating the blinds everywhere and Id probably replace the carpet in the dining room with something a bit more practical for dogs, oh and a new frying pan that sits straight, and although the outside space isnt enormous the hot tub area is gated and is fine for sitting out. We exercised our dogs on the beaches so when we came back they were generally tired. It is fully enclosed. Lovely village and there is definitely a village store! Black Bull Inn is excellent. If youre cooking in the cottage theres a Rangemaster oven. If the bottom tight ring doesnt work try a different one. The pans were fine. The faff of the hot tub put us off using it. Even trying to get the ph levels right was a pain, but if you know what you need to do its nice enough.
Pauline
The cottage was very clean and the beds very comfortable. It was exceptional in having three ensuite bedrooms. A chair for the smaller rooms bathroom would help guests with mobility difficulties. Its a good base for visiting Northumberland. As previously observed, the cottage has off street parking for one car for the other two cars off street parking is immediately across the road. There was no welcome pack. A pint of milk and small jar of coffee and tea bags would have been helpful. The corner shop was a good resource with a helpful owner. There are two good village pubs for eating out. An audit of all appliances could be helpful so that problems with them could be spotted in advance.
This is a lovely well furnished cottage. Very comfortable beds and each bedroom has with really nice en suite bathrooms. The hot tub was lovely to relax in after a days sightseeing. The village is very friendly with a handy local shop just up the road and a brilliant playground for children
Andrew
Lovely cottage. Great location with many interesting places within 15 minutes drive. Village has 2 friendly hotels with bars and good food. Well stocked friendly local shop. Ford and Etamal estates are stunning.
Keeley
Property was lovely, ideal location. It is advertised as parking for 3 cars but actually only space for 1 car at the front. I would recommend to family and friends and would return.
Having stayed at the property before I am disappointed to find that the previous high standards have fallen. My impression is the owners have lost interest in the property and have even ignored previously reported problems. In the downstairs double the tv doesn't work and has no remote, the heated towel rail in the ensuite was not working had to leave bathroom door open otherwise freezing. The heater thermostat in same bedroom does not work just full blast until you turn off. Had to tour whole house on arrival and work out how to switch each heater on other than the lounge. No welcome pack of any sort. Some kitchen equipment like wine glasses are inadequate and have not been replaced i.e. 2 wine glasses for a 3 bed property. Corkscrew rubbish. Some pans still do not work with the induction hob etc despite previous complaints. Move your shoes sideways on the carpets and see the enormous bunches of dog hairs that form cleaning looks to be a quick rushjob. Broken blinds in dining room were broken 2 years ago. Armchair from lounge with broken leg two years ago now moved into dining room still with a broken leg. Visitors required to learn how to adjust the hottub chemicals on a daily basis. Property description is out of date i.e. there is no longer a shop in Lowick conversely there is no longer a pond in the front garden to worry about. On balance I will be looking for another property next time I holiday in the area.
Beautiful well equipped cottage furnished to a high standard with the benefit of a hot tub. Please note that there is only one parking space onsite however there is a car park directly opposite which allows for free parking. The local shop which is advertised in the advert is no longer available.
The cottage is lovely and spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Really enjoyed it and will be booking again in the future. The only minor thing that surprised me was the amount of lorries passing the cottage on main street but I think this maybe due to building houses in the village. This did not effect or spoil my stay at all.
Very disappointing arriving to find the hot tub could not be use on our first evening as it was not hot enough. It was 20 degrees on our arrival at 4pm and at 9.45pm it was still only 31 degrees. Also the oven did not heat up
Stephen
The sun shone every day and the low tide times worked for us so we were out everyday on beaches from Alnmouth to Yellowcraig which is just past North Berwick, but unfortunately missed out on exploring the countryside closer to Lowick. As a former B&B the layout of the rooms works well with children in their 20's, with young children, as a parent I would have felt too separated. We loved the cottage, the hot tub, the location and the fact that the yard was indeed dog secure. With a spaniel dog secure isn't always an accurate description. Its just a pity the village shop has closed.
Dominique
Absolutely gorgeous cottage , ideal for a family get away. So well presented, homely and cosy. Rooms very spacious and beds were extremely comfortable. All rooms having an on suit was very convenient. Having a hot tub, added an extra special quality to our stay. Ideal for visits to Berwick, Bamburgh, Seahouses. Only one tiny pointer a slightly later check out would have been even better.
Thomas
The cottage is beautiful and it has everything you need within for a perfect stay. My partner had broken their foot at the time of going on holiday we decided to still go for some time away from home and they spend all of their time in the cottage and had a perfect time. The bedrooms are fantastic, the ground floor king was just like sleeping under the stars! We chose to have the access to the log store for the extra cost which was perfect as well for us which saved us going out for extra logs although Tesco isnt too far it just saved us the hassle of going. We took our dogs with us and they also had a great time! There are little notes left everywhere with information which we thought was great too. Heating was great and property was lovely and warm! Communication from the owners was fantastic too! We would definitely return.
We had a fantastic Christmas break at Lindisfarne Cottage. The property was very spacious, warm and welcoming. It had everything we needed for the holidays including cooking Christmas Dinner for 6 in the kitchen. The hot tub was excellent. Both the kids and my parents loved the place what more can I say?
The bedroom as you come in the house was locked? Not a problem for us but a little bit strange. Light in the hallway ceiling needs replaced Other than that a lovely holiday
Rietta
The cottage was fabulous, everything you could have wished for was there. The hot tub was great and we were extremely comfortable.
We had a lovely time and the cottage was ideal for us. We all had the same complaint that the mattresses were not very comfortable but it didnt spoil our enjoyment. Also there is only room for one car at the property not three.
Suzanne
Lovely cottage close to lots of Northumberland attractions. Scotland only 20 mins up the road with Lovely seaside towns.
Michael
There was a large amount of heavy vehicle traffic on the main road outside the property. Some minor details such as no toilet brushes for 2 of the toilets and the kitchen layout is a bit of a pain!
There was no welcome pack As stated. people need to know to bring their own fleeces for the couches if they have dogs .
