Scrag Oak Reviews

Avril
A lovely cottage in the countryside. Very warm and comfortable with all the equipment you need. Plenty of room for everyone. The hot tub was used whilst the owls were hooting! Beds very comfortable. The view from the main lounge is quite beautiful.

We simply could not have asked for a more magical Christmas than we had at Scrag Oak! It was the perfect setting for our UK and German families to come together for the festive period! We all adored how cosy and traditional it was. The peaceful setting was a dream, the house was super well-equipped (we cooked an enormous Christmas dinner and had evRead moreerything we needed). We had great fun learning to cook on the aga, playing board games and using the hot tub. We made so many precious memories! Hide

ScragOak is a lovely place to stay, very comfortable and well equipped. The hot tub was clean and nice and warm and we got a good view of a passing tawny owl while using it. The Robin Hood pub at the top of the lane was excellent. I would love to return in the summer months so we could make more use of the garden. Highly recommended!
Hannah

We all fell in love with Scrag Oak House and garden and didn't want to leave. It was perfect for our family celebration (60th and 23rd birthdays). The property is extremely well equipped for self catering on cooker and Aga and we made full use of hot tub, barbecue, comfy lounge with open fire and snug for games and music. Spacious bedrooms with com fy beds were much appreciated. Lovely walks in countryside and to the beach. Alpacas and owls. Felt much longer than a weekend - magical.
Louisa

We had a lovely stay at Scragged Oak. Scenery and countryside were amazing, we really enjoyed seeing the lambs and lots of long walks. House was good for our family group. We enjoyed the hot tub and amazing views. Garden is not secure though so be careful with dogs and young children as public footpath goes past the front of the house. Enjoyed work ing out how to use the aga. (Conventional oven also there)
Samantha
We had a girls weekend and it's was great from beginning to end. The cottage is lovely and the owners provide everything you need to kick start your holiday. The hot tub was a great addition. We went to the Queens Head Inn pub which was lovely and only 25 minute walk.
Freya
We had a wonderful stay with family. The cottage is beautiful and has everything you could need. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub looking across the garden and taking in the views. We ventured to nearby Rye, Camber sands and Dungeness whilst we were there - all great places to visit! We plan to return!
Heather
Five ladies enjoyed a great weekend at Scrag Oak. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and we all thought the beds, pillows and duvet were extremely comfortable. We loved the hot tub and the alpacas in the adjacent field. We enjoyed walks along the beach at Hastings, Pett Level and Fairlight Cove and also visited Dungeness and Rye. Although the p roperty is very rural we were able to collect a takeaway curry from Rye which was very tasty. Thank you - we'll be back!
Elaine
Our group, 3 siblings and partners, loved the location of the house which had wonderful history.. Such a quiet setting with great views,, even from the hot tub which was well used every evening. The gardens are well kept+great for photos, and sunsets. Definitely drive down the narrow lane as advised from the Icklesham direction as its even narrower from the Pett end! We ate at The Queens Head in the village+Two Sawyers in Pett and had excellent meals. Loved visiting Rye, Camber+Hastings.
Janette
An old property that was adequate for a 6 week old, 2 year old & 6 adults. Plenty of room, a lovely garden & a great area once you get used to the very narrow lane leading up to Scrag Oak. The Aga is at the heart of the kitchen as the house will be cold when the temperature drops.
