15 Faraway Fields Reviews

We had a wonderful stay in 15 faraway fields , it ticked every box for us. We had a wonderful view and loved the enclosed decking area for our dog. Very comfortable lodge for a Christmas break. We loved the Christmas tree and welcome pack, a perfect way to celebrate our wedding anniversary and Christmas. The hot tub and staff were wonderful and even checked it on Christmas Day! Thankyou
Lovely lodge, maybe needs a tad updating, furniture and soft furnishings in ... Lovely lodge, maybe needs a tad updating, furniture and soft furnishings in living area, but it is still a lovely lodge, view is amazing and a great big hot tub which is just fantastic thank you, we have stayed at this lodge 34 times
Lovely break at Southern Halt, lovely spacious lodge, ideal for my dog to roam around the decking as it was completely enclosed, hot tub maintenance person was very friendly, my whole experience from booking the lodge till we left was very pleasing. Oh and it was so peaceful, just to relax in comfort surroundings, a pleasant break thank you
We have just got back from a lovely week at 15 Faraway friend. The lodge is very secluded and has a lovely big decking. Was very clean and spacious and the hot tub was amazing!!! We didnt have the nicest weather but if we did I imagine some sun loungers on the decking would be nice. Also some new pans would be good as they have lost their non stick and everything stuck. The staff were very friendly and helpful, thank you
There are so many positive things to say about our trip. It was very special as it was our first as a family for a long time. The lodge was fabulous. It was well cared for, clean, tidy and had everything that you might need for a self catering holiday. The view was spectacular, made even better with wall to wall sunshine. One constructive feedback is regarding the glass panel around the balcony. It was in need of cleaning due to the build up of green algaemoss but as my husband and son cannot sit still, they took care of it morning after we arrived. Staff were amazing, friendly and very helpful. In particular Sally deserves a shout out. She looked after us from pre arrival, on arrival and during our stay. We had a few problems, and she was right there to help us out. We couldn't thank you more Sally! Ryan was fabulous too in helping to liase regarding a vehicle breakdown. Thanks Ryan. Also the chap that looked after the hot tub. I didnt know his name but he was fab. Overall I would highly recommend this property and the company. We really enjoyed our holiday.

Absolutely fantastic, we loved it. The view was amazing the place was clean and tidy. The recommendations in the book for the activities and the Indian and Chinese takeaways were spot on. One tiny point and I feel bad for mentioning it as the whole place is brilliant is the glass around the edge could do with a clean to enhance your view of the field whilst in the hot tub. The hot tub was checked every day by the maintenance team. I would rate this 1010 and we will return. Thank you
Our favorite place to stay.
We spent a wonderful 4 days in 15 Faraway Fields recently. The property's location on site was just perfect and the lodge really was wonderful. The accommodation was clean and welcoming on arrival and the hot tub was perfectly inviting. Staff we came across were all lovely and helpful. There really wasn't anything we weren't happy with, if I'd need to nitpick I would say the glass panels around the decking could do with a good clean and ideally you'd need a table for outside once the weather is warmer for Al fresco dining. We also noticed that some properties had loungers outside, again would be lovely in the warmer months. Perhaps a little shop vending machine with essentials in the reception area would be helpful if at all possible. All in all we had a wonderful break and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Southern Halt.

Enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing girly weekend. The lodge had everything you could need, it was immaculately clean. The beds were so comfortable. Obviously the highlight was the huge hottub which is situated to give as much privacy as possible whilst also providing amazing views over the surrounding area. Every morning the hottub is checked and topped up if needed. We were visited daily by the local ducks and abundance of wild birds. Sally from reception was very friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be returning.

Fantastic lodge at gorgeous scenery Weve been before to horizon view lodges but the little pond was a bonus! Everything was as specified and really straightforward. Children and grandparents friendly a sure treat for all the family! Will definitely be back!
We love staying at Southern Halt and particularly at 15 Faraway Fields which has wide sweeping views of an area we know so well, having lived in the nearby village of Dobwalls in the 50s. It really is like coming home!
Fantastic week spent at 15 Faraway Fields, everything you could ask for. Great accommodation, lovely and clean, great setting, great views, hot tub was excellent and maintained daily, were booked to be back soon!!
Joanna

Just had the loveliest long weekend at number 15. Everything was clean, fresh and comfortable. Hot tub was fabulous! Beautiful view from the decking perfect for morning coffee. Wish wed booked the whole week.
Mr Richard Moore
Was at this property from 9th to 16th September 2022. The lodge and decking area I could not fault. All very clean and was very comfortable. The only fault we had there was the hot tub which never worked properly from day one as the jets did not work properly and halfway into holiday stopped working completely on the Tuesday. Engineer came out the next day but after a lot of just turning off and on again decided it couldn't be used again and not able to get parts until the Friday the check out day. Rang reception again and didn't get the feeling they wanted to help. So contacted Sykes themselves which they were very apologetic and more engineers 3 this time came on Thursday with parts but even after this it still wasn't working properly. All ready for the next group to be wondering why it doesn't work. This I've read from others that have stayed here the same problem. This needs fixing when good money is paid to have a relaxing break away.
Mrs Lauren Burke
Lovely lodge. Really nice quiet place and we enjoyed our stay here. Thank you
Mrs Liz Buckley
We absolutely love this property, our 3rd vist. However, we felt there are some things needed repairing or replacing this time. It would be a shame to let the standards slip. The outside table was definitely on its last legs. So some new outdoor furniture would be a real asset. The kitchen equipment, glasses , knives etc could do with being replaced. There was a knife missing from the block on our visit in February, its still missing! Good quality wine glasses and flute would be lovely! The big thing for us tho was the hot tub. The reason we book these lodges, however the headrests are very mouldy and were when we visited in Feb. Also, the tub was broken this time, the pump making can awful noise and jets actually stopped working for a day. all was reported! The engineers seemed to be away of issues but we're very quick to fob us off or make excuses, we were told the parts for the pump had been on order for over a month. They came and replaced the circuit board but the jets continued to cut out and the lights stopped working. Very disappointing. The kitchen tap was dripping. also reported It seems a shame if these things are not taken care of as it reduces the standard of the property, not what we would expect when paying top prices. Hope this feedback helps.
Mrs Ceri Mccann
The lodge was perfect in size for us. However, there were lots of cobwebs and dead flies on the window sills. Whilst we appreciate that the lodge is in a very natural environment. We felt that it hadnt been thoroughly cleaned. The jacuzzi gave us a cause for concern and we contacted the number given for advice. The gentleman who came out explained that the reason for the issue. the jacuzzi couldnt have all four jets on at the same time whilst maintaining the ambient temperature required. Also, it made an unusual noise. We were informed that parts had been ordered but due to supplier issues, they were taking a while to be delivered. This information should be in the handbook you find in the lodge. This will alleviate fears that you may have damaged the hot tub.
