Meavy Cottage Reviews

We had a wonderful week in Meavy Cottage. It is clean, bright and well appointed with quality furnishings and appliances. All essentials, such as dishwasher tablets, were provided. The Gitcombe estate is in a beautiful setting and is extremely well maintained. The owner, Peter, lives on site and nothing is too much trouble. He was a friendly point of contact at all times. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor pool, which was kept open during good weather in early September.

Gitcombe was a wonderful choice for a late summer break. Everywhere was immaculate and definitely Covid safe. Peter and Emma were welcoming and extremely helpful. Maevy cottage is lovely and very comfortable.The only minus is the lack of storage in bedrooms and kitchen. In the kitchen there were no empty cupboards to store food in and very limited drawer space in bedrooms. We had a fantastic week and would definitely book again.

While visiting the hospital children can learn about these shy wild animals and the dangers they face in the wild as well as how we can help them. The farm is a halfway house for sick hedgehogs and children can meet some of the animals that are almost ready to go back to the wild. The farm also has a gift shop, a coffee shop and a wildlife garden as well as a pet's area with Rabbits and Guinea Pigs.
