The Old Nags Head Reviews

Lovely, well equipped and comfortable house with the extra facilities of a hot tub and sauna. The local area was interesting with lots to see and providing takeaways and places to eat, many within walking distance.
We really enjoyed our stay, it was perfect for the family, something for everyone. The house was spotless and furniture and beds very comfortable. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub and plenty of space for the children to play. Ruthin is a great place to stay with plenty of places to eat and lots of small shops. We really enjoyed our visit to the jail.
Great property, great location lots to do in walking distance from house , ... Great property, great location lots to do in walking distance from house , Hottub cleaned and nice garden to sit in the sun
Very nice place, most of the ground floor is an open plan loungedinningkitchen. Great for a big party to socialise. No garden, but a big patio area. Maintenance was a bit below what you might hope for.

I could not recommend this cottage enough. Upon arriving we were greeted by the house keeper who was so helpful and lovely showing us around. The cottage was so clean and photos dont do it justice how nice it is inside. Perfect location and lots to do around the area. Will definitely be coming back!!
Absolutely excellent property. We could not believe how beautifully done it was. Perfect for a group of friends. Open plan with a little snug for when you want to relax. The bedrooms are all good sizes and bathrooms are gorgeous. All facilities high quality and work well. Hot tub sauna and outside shower excellent added bonus. In a brilliant location, we waked into town. Would love to come back and would 100 recommend. My favourite we have booked so far x
Fantastic cottage, very well equipped and great facilities. Highly recommend. Really enjoyed our stay here. Mr Party was a very nice guy, extremely helpful, as was the cleaner who showed us how to use the facilities.
Enjoyable week by the whole family. The property had everything needed, and a good location for us all. Would recommend this property and would stay here again.
Stephanie
Fab place to stay, great house. Clean and bedrooms are lovely. Outdoor area is great , could do with some sun lounges when the weather is nice.
A fabulous property we didnt want to leave nothing negative to say only positives the cleanliness was superb and we were met by Sonja who does a fantastic job she gave us a tour of the house and a quick run down on using the hot tub sauna and appliances. A very spacious property large bedrooms quality towels bedding and luxurious bathrooms. We were a group of 6 ladies and had a fantastic weekend. The snug with Netflix was perfect for us when we werent in the hot tub or sauna definitely on our list to return asap Plenty of takeaways shops in walking distance

I booked the Old Nags Head for a get together with friends. What a find! The property is beautiful and very spacious, with everything we needed to make our weekend unforgettable. Just a short walk into the lovely village too. We will certainly be recommending the Old Nags Head to friends and family and, hopefully, will get to visit again ourselves! We had taken along some board games to play in the evening, but we needn't have bothered as there was plenty there already. We discovered a couple of the shelves in the fridge damaged, also we couldn't find the light to the sauna. This didn't impact at all on our enjoyment but maybe something that can be fixed easily for future guests. Thank you Bryan for the use of your lovely property.
The house was brilliant just as described. Cleaned to a very high standard.was met at the property as soon as we arrived and informed about everything would definitely recommend staying at the old nags head
Barbara
We booked this cottage as a last resort because another was suddenly unavailable. We were certain that it was expensive for what was offered and was situated on a noisy road with lots of traffic pollution. It met these poor expectations and we all were disturbed at night. A few things would have helped to make us more comfortable 1. wifi was unavailable upstairs 2. There was no mirror , bedside table or lamp in the fourth bedroom 3. We could not air the rooms because the windows only opened a crack we assume this was for security reasons, not especially reassuring! 4. No mirror in downstairs toilet and we couldn't find a shaver point anywhere. 5. Kitchen was well equipped, but a little more cutlery would have helped. The wine glasses were very tall which meant we had to wash them by hand. 6. There was absolutely no cleaning equipment and no spare bin bags 7. There was no welcome pack. A bottle of milk, some tea bags and a few biscuits would have gone a long way to make us feel welcome. 8. A second key would have been very useful.

A fabulous cottage that exceeded our expectations. Just what we needed to accommodate our family holiday. Thank you so much
Our stay in the old nags head was amazing from start to finish! Both Sonya and Bryan are very friendly and helpful, we only had one issue over the weekend which was quickly resolved. We would 100 stay again, the hot tub was great, as was the sauna and the main bathrooms bath was lovely! The beds where super comfortable, will definitely recommend to family and friends.
Jennifer
Loved this venue and it's amenities. Owner was lovely. House was spotless and walking distance to the centre
Location of holiday cottage was excellent for travelling to see places in the surrounding area. Very clean accommodation and the owner was really friendly and hospitable
Great long weekend break. Bryan came over to show us how to use the sauna and hot tub at the start of our stay. Had no issues, lovely cottage with plenty of space.
The facilities were great and met all our needs. Bryan is an excellent host and made us all very welcome. The location is brilliant for exploring the North Wales area and Ruthin is a lovely town. Recommended.
Stephanie
We absolutely loved our holiday from start to finish. It was immaculate and there was everything we needed I will defo be returning in the future . Thankyou so much for a wonderful stay.
Samantha
The property is wonderful, really comfy and so clean. The hot tub and sauna are a really nice touch! After we arrived we had a knock at the door from the lovely cleaner lady who came to see if we were okay and settled in well. She also went through the hot tub and sauna instructions with us and said if we need anything we are welcome to knock her door. Bryan who owns this property is a lovely man, he also owns the garage next door and really helped us out with one of our cars that had to be towed for the remaining 3 hours of our journey. He phoned and told us not to worry about the car him and his men will fix it for us so just enjoy our time away and dont worry about it. This really made our trip as otherwise we would have been stuck. Thank you so much Bryan, we really enjoyed our stay. The only things I think would be useful to add is that it would be useful to have a broom and dust pan to be able to sweep up and some kitchen spray to clean away. Also some more dishwasher tablets as we were only left 2 staying 4 days with 4 adults & 3 children This property is in a great location.
The cottage was perfect, 7 ladies celebrated my 50th birthday weekend with me, great location.
Shannan
The house is beautiful, very spacious and couldnt fault it much. The facilities are minimal. The hot tub was not a suitable size for 8 people unless you dont mind sitting on each other knees. The owner seemed lovely but became very awkward when it came to returning our full bond
Great place and spotless . A lot of thought has been put in to the refurbishment of this property and we had a great stay Only one thing, I am still chasing the 250 we paid for housekeeping bond 4 days later which should have been returned after 48 hours Sykes just say owner must have been busy . Not good enough so disappointed to say the least and dykes not helpful
The old nags head is a fabulous house with hot tub and steam room, all rooms are spacious and clean. It is all so in a good location.
Oliver
The Old Nags Head is a fantastic place to stay, Bryan was a great host.
Ruthin is wonderful and the cottage has everything you could wish for.
Yvonne
The old nags head is very comfortable and has everything you could need during a stay. The location is great, very central in Ruthin, we very much enjoyed our stay.
Pauline
We were very pleased with our week at The Old Nags Head. The house was modern and spacious and our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The surrounding area was varied with lots of interesting days out although the weather wasnt too good. The owner was friendly and helpful, a good time was had by all. Thank you
I would expect the owner of a holiday cottage to be able to have any equipment repaired within a reasonable timescale. The hot tub stopped working on the Monday and wasnt fixed until after we had left on the Friday and although the Monday was a bank holiday it is 2019 where things are available 7 days a week. When you book a cottage with a hot tub the you do so for a reason. Yes I appreciate that things can fail but this wasnt acceptable and neither was the compensation offered. The good housekeeping bond wasnt returned as advised either which was disappointing. Difficult to be enthusiastic when one of the main reasons for booking the cottage wasnt available for more than 50 of the holiday.
Owner acted very swiftly to problem with the hot tub to ensure we could make full use of it.
The owner Bryan was extremely helpful, we needed some assistance with the hottub and he and a friend came over to sort it out right away. He gave us some tips on which takeaway was worth a visit too, which we took and it was great. So thank you to Bryan!
Great accommodation,
7 of my friends and I needed a quiet girly weekend away and after a look on Sykes Cottages website we found this delightful cottage in the lovely town of Ruthin. The owners of the cottage have thought of everything from cutlery to the hot tub, and the finish of the cottage is amazing. The only thing i'd recommend is taking some tea towels and kitchen roll because these aren't provided, and also to add that the hot tub seats 4 people worth mentioning because the cottage sleeps 8, so all 8 people won't be able to get in at the same time. There is plenty of parking through the single access gate, which you can see at the front of the property and Ruthin town is only a short walk from the cottage. It's a lovely town with plenty to see and do, and some really nice restaurants. We can't wait to come back here
The location, walking distance to Ruthin and all its attractions made the holiday very enjoyable. The extremely comfortable furniture and beds gave us opportunity to rest and relax on our return to the property. Bryan, the owner was helpful and a lovely guy. Recommend highly. Thank you
Adrian
This really was as described! Clean and spacious! Sykes and the property owner were both extremely helpful and easy to deal with, made the whole process simple! This property definitely deserved its rating!
A few issues with the stay as the eek progressed Could do with antislip mats in both walk in showers in house. . Outside shower for sauna didn't work.. Had issue with drainage backing up through kitchen sink from dishwasher. Black bins not collected on bin bag day Tuesday? Main bathroom toilet seat loose.. Other than those few minor issues. The house was very comfy and a great size to host 25 for a party.. Great outdoor space.. Lots of use of the Hot Tub Great kitchen, fantastic beds.. Great furnishings... Almost small kids friendly. My 1yr old granddaughters scaled the stairs. Nice cozy snug lounge,.. Definitely would stay again. If few things was addressed. Overall a great property.
Calandra
We had a great few days in Ruthin. The house was lovely and clean and tidy and furnished to a high spec! The hot tub wasnt working on the day of arrival but Bryan got it working for us on the second day which was brilliant! Overall a great stay! Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic house with plenty of room for everyone. Kitchendining room is modern and spacious with the snug room being a particular favourite as it was comfy and cosy. Hot tub and sauna was a bonus as well as having the rest of the outdoor space. All around great house in a lovely little town that was easy reach to Chester and Rhyl. Would definitely come back
