Cowslip Cottage Reviews

We found the cottage to be warm and cosy. Lovely log burner. The hosts were friendly and helpful and very welcoming. We particularly liked the hot tub. Good beds, good linen. Excellent showers. Very well equipped kitchen. A fresh supply of eggs nearby. The welcoming bottle of wine was well received. Thanks Stephen and Clare for a very special week, in a delightful part of the world.

Overall the property was great however upstairs was unbelievably hot dew to the lack of windows spoke to the owner he kindly explained the planner restricted the amount of windows as it's an old building so we bought electric fans which helps but we will be going back

A lovely cottage in a lovely location. But the top floor was stiflingly hot with small windows and no fan provided. Some maintenance lacking as dishwasher filters all clogged, no ladle or spatula and no ice cube tray , though this was provided on request. We also wished there had been comfy outdoor seating. In all though, in spite of the above , we had a super time in the cottage.
Pauline
Lovely cottage in beautiful location. Nice welcome from owners but particularly from their gorgeous Welsh terrier puppy, Spud! Would very much recommend this cottage.
The property was excellent! Pristine, well equipped and beautifully maintained and looked after. It was exactly as the pictures shown but better! We had a fantastic week made even better by the brilliant sunshine and everything that Pembrokeshire had to offer. Clare and Steven were very helpful and available if needed. Wed love to make a return visit!
Everything was great and we enjoyed the hot tub!
A delightful stay at Cowslip cottage, the cottage is lovely and very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with lots of helpful things for cooking including tea, coffee, kitchen foil, washing up liquid etc. which we really appreciated. The hot tub is a great way to end a day out. The hosts were very helpful and kind with recommendations for places to eat, they left us some freshly laid eggs which were lovely. Thank you so much for a great stay.

Owners very kindly introduced us to lambing. It was a sad beginning losing both lambs to same ewe but quick action meant two other lambs were adopted so good outcome. Owners responded to our query about lack of Wifi connection which was acted on straightaway. Pity its such a long journey for us but Im sure we will return!

Lovely property couldnt fault the building whatsoever although we had no WiFi for 2 days out of 4 which was a real pain as we took our fire stick to use and not to mention we had 3 teenagers with us, apart from that we enjoyed our stay overall
We stayed at Cowslip cottage for a week as 4 adults and 3 children aged 1,2 and 3. The cottage was perfect for us and the high chair, stair gate and cot was a welcome addition. The owner also provided us with a booster seat for the dining table. The cottage is so peaceful yet close enough to plenty of places to visit with young children, we particularly enjoyed Folly Farm, Clerkenhill and Little Haven beach. We will be booking a return trip.

We had a wonderful stay at Cowslip Cottage. It was a perfect location for exploring the local area and the cottage facilities were excellent.
The accommodation was superb in every way. Delightful position. Very peaceful.
Thanks for the opportunity to stay in Cowslip Cottage. My Husband and I, both disabled, were able to wander around the flat areas outside and enjoy the Birdsong and nature which was amazing. We shared with 4 other members of our Family and so the 3 Bedrooms and 3 bathrooms were an asset. The Ground floor was so easy to get around and of course car parking so close to the house was a boon. The Family also had the bonus of a Hot Tub! We were welcomed by the owner but had complete privacy from thereon. A very relaxing and enjoyable break
Claire
Lovely comfortable property great secure garden for the dog. Enjoyed feeding the birds, watching the bat's at dusk and visiting lambs.
Hannah
We had an amazing time at Cowslip Cottage. The pictures certainly dont do it justice, its like a home from home with the added bonus of a hot tub!! The beds are wonderful and comfortable. Theres so much to do around this area too, I would highly recommend! We cant wait to come back again!
I thought the property was amazing, great location, lovely decor, nice facilities. The only downside was the really late checkin, this is the latest in anywhere I have stayed in the uk and then an early check out. We only stayed 2 nights so would have liked to make more out of the property by being able to checkin before 5pm.
Natasha
A lovely break away. So great to come back to a stunning cottage and jump into the hot tub after a busy day exploring. My only gripe is that the listing wasn't entirely accurate. It said there was an extra bed, so we were disappointed to find out that 2 of our children had to share a bed despite telling them they each had a bed to themselves. That aside, it was a beautiful place to stay and we would definitely return
Vickie
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only comment we would make is that a 5pm check in is very late!!
Spacious, warm and welcoming, Cowslip Cottage was a perfect place for us to spend Christmas.
Cozy cottage with everything you need for a break from it all. Clean and comfortable. Wood burner and hot tub a great bonus.

What a lovely cottage and weekend stay at cowslip cottage. .... Only downfall was when arriving at the property it didn't have any outdoor lighting which didn't help while trying to open. The door and also empty the car to bring in our things... Also. The back garden area was very dark in the evening and not lit up very well with only one dim light above the door...... The hot tub was amazing.... But when storing the lid felt it was lift to. The wrong side so that you couldn't chat with each other when some was in. The hot tub and the others was sat on. The bench.... So was limited communication.... As couldn't see each other.
Sheena
The cottage met our needs completely, it was comfortable, warm, cosy and inviting. The decor followed through the whole cottage which I liked. The photos on the website are more orange than the reality, which is a soft oak colour, so it exceeded my expectations, thankyou.
The cottage had everything we needed for a great holiday, especially the hot tub as it was a great place to relax. The location is also a great base for exploring Pembrokeshire
Samantha
The cottage was comfortable and nicely equipped and while located in a lovely rural setting it was still well placed for exploring the area. The owner Stephen was welcoming and popped over to give us some extra information about the area which we appreciated. The provision of fresh eggs and a bottle of wine upon arrival was a nice touch as was the vase of fresh cut flowers. The hot tub was a fantastic addition and was well maintained. Two issues we found 1. Flies! We were constantly bothered by flies inside the cottage particularly in the kitchen and living area. Flies dancing on the kitchen worktop and equipment while preparing food was off putting as was flies skirting the rim of glasses and mugs we were drinking from when placed on the coffee table in the lounge. I appreciate that flies on a livestock farm will be an issue but perhaps the listing should make it clear that the cottage is on a working farm close to cow sheds. Although we found a can of fly spray in one of the cupboards it did little to control the fly numbers present. Perhaps the issue could be tackled by installing electric fly killers or similar at least in the kitchen and living areas. 2. On first glance the garden appeared to be fully secure as it was fenced all the way around. However there was a small gap under one section sufficient to allow the farm dog in and our dog out! On the first morning of our stay one of our dogs managed to get out without us initially noticing. Fortunately he came back, but not before half an hour of frantic searching. Once wise to the gap we used rocks from the rockery to fill it. After that all was good! Despite the flies we loved the cottage and we would choose to stay there again if holidaying in the Pembrokeshire area.
Lovely cottage, well equipped and very spacious and comfortable. The owner Claire was very welcoming and accommodating. The cottage was well located while it is remote, it is within easy access by car to many great places. The hot tub is an added bonus and was a hit with our children. Pembrokeshire is beautiful and we had a wonderful week at Cowslip Cottage.
Christopher
It is a working farm so expect everything that goes with this. Farmer Steve and his wife Claire try to clean hot tub while you are out so do not disturb you, but are on hand if you need help or advice. They are very friendly and can give recommendations of places to visit. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you Steve and Claire.
Lauren
Whilst the cottage was lovely and the hosts extremely welcoming and friendly the property is situated in a farm, which from our memory we dont recall reading about in the description when booking? Naturally, this comes with natures creatures that being flies we did have to go straight to a supermarket to get fly spray, maybe the owners could have some in the cottage for guests to use as its known to be an issue. While there was a hoover in the cottage, we went with twin babies so a dustpan and brush would have been handy to quickly sweep up rather than getting the hoover out each time. There was plenty of space in the garden for our other children to enjoy but sadly through no fault of the owners, the hot tub was used but not as much as we would have like too, as it was full of sand. The previous guests didnt respect the use of the hot tub which in turn effected us. The cottage was very clean when we arrived, comfy beds and the property is very close to shops, pubs etc in the local village.
Wonderful cottage, the pictures do not do it justice. Beds were very comfortable, hot tub was fab & plenty of room for the 5 of us. The owners introduced themselves, they were helpful with information on the area. We would definitely stay again

My husband and me started our holiday on the 4th of June for one week. Perfect cottage in every way. Will will be back.Good location for travelling wales, fresh eggs every morning from farm to purchase if wanted, few of fields from windows. Perfect for us.
Tracey
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It had all the normal home comforts, we had wine & eggs on arrival which was a lovely touch. The upstairs bedrooms were quite hot though and that was in May! The hot tub was amazing each evening. It was situated in easy reach of many places. A BBQ would have been nice.
Angela
We returned yesterday, after a week in Cowslip cottage. It was everything we expected it to be. A real mix of rustic with bespoke furniture and modern sofas. We arrived on a very wet miserable friday afternoon and as we opened the door we stepped into the kitchen, where we found a lovely welcome letter, a bottle of wine, fresh flowers in a vase and 6 large fresh eggs. A nice gesture that made us feel very welcome indeed. The cottage is very spacious, 3 large sofas on the ground floor along with a rocking chair, huge flat screen tv, coffee table, fitted kitchen with everything that you could want, large fridge freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. Hob and oven and washing machine is in the cupboard across the room. We ventured further and found the king size bed and ensuite, again rustic bespoke wardrobes and drawers and the room was lovely and warm. Huge bed, im only 5'0, so it was no mean feat getting onto it every night. The ensuite is spacious with shower, sink, toilet and some shelves housing other equipment. We went upstairs out of curiousity really and discovered that it was just as lovely up there, but as there were only the 2 of us, we didnt need to go up there again. But there is plenty of room for a family of 6. Outside there is a garden, safe for kiddies and dogs, a wonderful hot tub and views of the sheep and horses in the nearby field. Its a haven, away from the hustle and bustle and you are surrounded by beautiful nature, and there is something so magical about sitting outside and all you can hear is the faint bleating of sheep and the birds singing. The weather wasnt the best, but the cottage made up for that. The owners Clere and Stephen were lovely people, they made themselves known and we had phone numbers to contact them if needed, but they just let us do our thing. We had a lovely week away, felt thoroughly relaxed and we would highly recommend Cowslip cottage.
Lynette

Rebecca
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cowslip Cottage. The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Loved the wood burning fire, very cosy, and hot tub was a real treat! Fully enclosed garden perfect for our son and dog. Bedding was was very luxurious, great nights sleep! Thank you
Darren
What a fantastic stay at this lovely, cosy and homely cottage. Plenty of room, 3 hot showers, every thing we needed for cooking was there
Michael
We were looking for a quiet, relaxing place and this was just fantastic.
Doreen
What an amazing place to stay, plenty of room, very comfortable and oh so peaceful, we had a really brilliant time, very relaxing, will be recommending to anyone who is interested. Ok you have to travel a little way to Tenby and Saundersfoot also st. Davids, but when you return from the hustle and bustle, it is so quite. The Hot Tub is a real bonus and lovely and warm. Brilliant holiday thank you Sykes Cottages.
Joanna
We had a wonderful stay at Cowslip Cottage. A really well appointed cottage on a family run farm. The cottage was furnished to a high standard and very comfortable and enhanced by the hot tub. The nearby town of Haverford West had all the facilities needed and the location of the cottage was central to reaching Fishguard, St David's and Tenby, a very good central location. We would definitely return to the area and stay at Cowslip Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting this area.
