Orchard Cottage Reviews

Cathryn
It was an amazing cottage, ticked lots of boxes for us. Hot tub was a bonus, it was a cosy, very equipped cottage and the owners were kind and very generous with the welcome basket of goodies!
Christopher
An extremely wellequipped cottage in quiet surroundings, ideally located for walking in the Derbyshire Dales. We didn't meet Wendy but Mike was very friendly and helpful, and was very receptive to our request to maintain a safe distance as we were shielding. We certainly intend to visit again.
Maureen
Beautiful cottage with excellent amenities and extras. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay wonderful. Ideally located for Alton Towers which is only a short drive away.
Fantastic cottage with everything you could possibly need for your stay provided by the hosts. Enjoyed the hot tub and log burner every night we could, a perfect additional to a relaxing countryside retreat. Perfectly located in the middle of nowhere but still close enough to nearby towns. Mike and Wendy met us with the keys on our arrival and showed us around the property as well as showing us how to operate everything. A handy guide to the property was available to allow us to get on with our stay but they were just down the road if needed. We were devastated to have to come back home to reality but definitely looking forward to staying again!
The place was absolutely fantastic. The lodge was quite spacious, clean and fully fitted with everything you need for a short or long stay. The owners were very friendly and very accommodating. I will definitely return in the next future.
Steven
Cleanliness was first class. Everything was spotless. Attention to detail truly exceeded our expectations. For example the welcome pack. You can see the owners enjoy letting this out, by they the way they have maintained the cottage. Its a credit to them. Only reason for a 4 in comfort. We are all use to it own bed and pillows, our issue not theres. Everything else was top draw. Amazing.
This is the only place I have stayed where absolutely everything you can think of had been provided. It was such a homely, relaxing place to stay and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
Mike and Wendy have been brilliant. Mike came to our rescue when we were lost and still managed to get a roaring fire ready for us. The welcome hamper, especially the lovely tarts, was very much appreciated and saved an immediate trip to a convenience store. The cottage is immaculate, everything you need is there for you. The jacuzzi is warm and inviting on a winters day. I cannot recommend highly enough and hope to come back.
Philip
Lovely and comfortable cottage with nice views. The owners we very welcoming and showed us around. It was very kind of them to leave us some milk, eggs etc.
Thomas
Great stay, thoroughly enjoyed.

The property was very well equipped, very well furnished and super comfy. The sun room was perfect for relaxing after sitting in the hot tub. The hosts were very helpful and informative and made us feel at home. We were given good directions to get to the property as sat nav would have definitely taken us to the wrong address. Would highly recommend this property and we'd love to return there again.
The cleanest and best equipped holiday cottage we have stayed at in our 30 years of holidaying. The cottage was a perfect base for exploring the area. Downstairs bathroom and bedroom perfect for elderly parent.
Lyndsay
Great welcome hamper, lots of local produce
Lovely touch with the basket of goodies.
Lovely property which really suited 3 generations of family. Each room had their own TV which saved any arguments on what to watch! Everything had been thought of and the welcome basket was the best we ever had. The beds were so comfortable that for the first time away I actually slept like a baby. The hot tub was a bit hit for all. Location was perfect for a quiet get away. Would definitely stay again of up this way. Owners were helpful. Loved it all.
We have stayed in a number of cottages all across the peaks. This rates as one of the best. Mike welcomed us when we arrived and gave us a tour. It is clear that Mike and his good lady have left little to chance. The cottage is deceptively spacious. All of the rooms are a good size. I think it sleeps 56. Our friends had the double and we had the twin. We used the downstairs bathroom and were very impressed with the finish as well as the performance of the shower. The kitchen was easy to navigate and had plenty of cutlery etc. There was even a bluetooth speaker supplied for using outside with the hot tub, we made good use of both. As mike stated in his welcome email, do not expect your Satnav to get you to the location. My advice would be to call Mike when you think you're close. Some lovely pubs nearby too. We ate at the Crown and also the excellent Bowling Green Inn. Thoroughly recommended.
Cannot fault your lovely place. We had an amazing time for a well needed get away and enjoying our Babies first holiday. We very much appreciated the help and advice you offered. You should be very proud of this place.
Michael
Wonderful property and owners. A perfect stay. Very well equipped with everything you could want. Lovely peace and quiet and located well to explore the Peak District, the potteries of StokeonTrent, Bakewell and Buxton and of course Alton Towers. Loved the hot tub which was perfect to end a day exploring. We aim to go back in the near future.
Theresa
From the warm welcome by the owners, to the wonderful surroundings and facilities, this property was just perfect for our holiday. So comfortable, with everything we needed, including the most amazing welcome basket we have ever seen. A beautiful cottage, so clean and spacious. Thank you so much to the owners, we hope to see you again in the future.
We had a lovely stay. Four ladies of a certain age on our annual week of doing what we want with no one to both us. We loved it. Took a while to find. We couldnt find the turn off the main road. A sign at the end of the drive would be useful. It all added to the fun tho as we laughed so much as we went up and down the road.
Mike and Wendy are fantastic hosts friendly very welcoming. They supplied a lovely welcome basket with all you needed to settle in for your first night. The house it self was very clean and well presented. We all had an amazing stay and would stay here again if we we're in the neighbourhood. Thankyou for a most enjoyable carefree stay. Had a lovely short trip for My Wifes 40th Birthday. Mike and Wendy were very helpful and friendly. It felt very welcoming that they both came out to welcome my wife and children. Showed us in and basic things to know then left us to it. Lovely hamper too. Definitely lives up the the reviews. Many thanks Marcus Baines

An excellent cottage in a nice location although parking a bit tight! With amazing welcome hamper robes slippers and hot tub towels all provided! Fire was lit for us on arrival and owners were very helpful!
Maureen

Charlotte
We had a lovely stay. Made to feel very welcome and owners were very approachable and hospitable. House is in a wonderful rural setting and is beautifully maintained. A weekend wasnt long enough!
Lovely relaxing stay at a superb location. Just what was needed. The owners are fantastic and wed highly recommend staying here.
Just spent four days in this lovely cottage. Mike was super friendly and helpful!! Fantastic welcome basket. Lovely lit fire for us on arrival and heating very efficient. Definitely recommend.
Sharon
Beautiful cottage and Wendy and Mike were the perfect hosts!
Alison
The cottage was lovely clean and comfortable with all the resources and equipment you might need. It made for a very relaxing stay as everything had been thought of. Lovely little touches, such as the amount of kitchen equipment, jigsaws for rainy days and local maps provided.
Absolutely fabulous cottage, with everything you could need to hand. The owners are very friendly and helpful, the hot tub very welcome, and the kitchen one of the best equipped we've ever had in a rental. Great walks from the door allowing for rogue stiles and a mysterious lack of footpath signage!!. For the win, Denstone Farm Shop is a short drive away and stocks amazing food and drink. Easy to find, and down a long farm drive, so very quiet and sheltered from the outside world heavenly!!
Angela
The cottage was absolutely lovely. It was spotlessly clean. There was everything you could possibly want. The hot tub was fabulous, perfect for star gazing. Perfect, rural setting, but close enough to Ashbourne if you wanted to go. We had taxis, which cost 10 each way. We ate at the Duncombe Arms, which was ok, but nothing to shout about. Ashbourne had a better choice of restaurants. Would definitely return. Thank you
garette
Beautiful modern cottage in quiet countryside location but 3 miles from nearest town. The cottage is modernised to a high standard and the hosts had thought of everything with a surprise hamper in the kitchen. Clean comfortable and hot tub made the holiday. Definitely recommend Margarette
Every need catered for. Perhaps usb sockets in kitchen and bedroom.
Stuart
Great cottage , love the down stairs shower and bath. Great welcome pack . The owners are very nice and helpful. Peaceful location and not far from Alton towers. Would have given it 5stars but the internet during the evening was poor. Owners said they going to sort that so would highly recommend this cottage.
