Bwthyn Y Bugail (Shepherd's Cottage Reviews

Christine
Bwthyn Y Bugail was outstanding not just for the facilities it offered but also for the amazing pastoral views from the property. The photos in the listing capture a pleasant view but the reality is so much more. The main living areas were clean, the beds comfortable and an ensuite in every bedroom alleviated the usual difficulties which occur when 3 families gather together in one place. Thank you to all for a great staycation in a beautiful area of Wales.
Absolutely amazing holiday for all, we was a group of family and our kids. Kids with additional needs and on spectrum. My son will not go anywhere and when we arrived he was so with drawn and I was worried made wrong choice however few hours in he was in games room playing darts the barn is massive he had his space to relax and the other kids absolutely loved it. The adults made the most out of the nights there the hot tub was amazing Huw was great he swung by checked the filters and if we needed anything there was a small blip with the oven and was sorted straight away. The cottage is lovely waking up to the sheep is lovely. The drive into the town was lovely and locals are lovely and welcoming. I would recommend this place to anyone honestly best holiday weve had. X
We booked this for a 80th birthday, so three generations of the family, and the property did not disappoint. It is very spacious large rooms and the ensuite bathrooms were a big bonus. Views from the patio are lovely and the dark sky meant we could stargaze in the evening. Would definitely recommend this property to any large group.
William
Lovely place and with great hosts. Would recommend for a great families holiday.
Doreen
Lovely cottage ideal for a large family. Plenty of space for the whole family inside, outside and in the huge jacuzzi. Great play areas for the grandchildren and the views from the cottage were beautiful. We were in daily contact with Huw, owner who was very helpful throughout our stay with places to visit and any maintenance required. The fresh hens eggs for sale each day was a bonus. We had a Tesco delivery the day after we arrived which was ideal.
Angela
Absolutely beautiful place, provides everything you need, stunning views. Attended the hot tub all the time and checked we were ok. It was clean but not spotless, hoover is useless and carpets need a good clean, darent look under the sofa, tops of wardrobes dusty, this makes it a 4 not 5. Would still recommend it though, there was 11 of us and we all loved it and sad to leave.
Graham
Shepherds cottage was brilliant couldn't fault it in any way Huw has done a fantastic job. My family and I had a fantastic time from 2 to 74 there was something for everyone. Would highly recommend Shepherds cottage.
Absolutely beautiful barn and location. We had a really great weekend spent here. The barn has everything you could wish for and was spotlessly clean. The surrounding area is stunning with lots of really beautiful walks. It is remote but thats exactly what we wanted. We will be returning.
We had an absolutely fabulous stay. The house was perfect for us, with all the bathrooms and bedrooms, 11 of us from age 3 to 85. Everything we needed was there I.e kitchen utensils etc. robes were a fab touch and unexpected. Hot tub was great looking out to those fabulous views as was waking up in the morning to them. The internal courtyard park was amazing for our 3 year old as was the games room for everyone else. Only disappointment was that the dart board had seen better days and as the floor had no Matt down we did damage our darts and had to stop playing, which was a shame. If you like national trust places, there are 3 near by. Powys castle was just beautiful. We couldnt find any walks from the house itself and had to drive everywhere, so if youre a big walker youd need to drive somewhere first. After saying that we did no beforehand that. The waterfall near by is a must see and drive to Barmouth for the seaside also. All in all a very nice holiday in a beautiful setting for all the family. Thank you
We had a fantastic stay. The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable and its was spotless. Cant wait to go back.
Beautiful place! Not the most ideal location as was quite a drive to get to anywhere even a shop! But scenery was truly beautiful! Cleaners need to clean above there eyeline! Cobwebs all over the place dusty skirting boards even the washing machine door had thick dust! Pillows could do with being renewed they are old and not very comfy Robes well what an fab touch they were!! internet was shocking, there is no phone signal! If want to be off grid this is the place to go! We couldnt get much access and the tv said no signal a lot of the time! Huw was extremely helpful, such a lovely guy! We would definitely consider coming back one day!
Teresa
Fantastic stay at this delightful property with plenty of space for 5 couples and a gorgeous setting. Huw was very helpful and welcoming.
Fantastic house and stunning views. Would definitely stay again
Nathan
Absolutely stunning house and views. Could not have been happier.
Excellent property, perfect for large family gatherings
This is our second visit to shepherds cottage, it's a lovely place to stay with family and friends. The accommodation is excellent and views are stunning.
Beautiful barn with fantastic views. Excellent for a family get together with really lovely safe playground for the children. The hot tub is a great facility with views over the beautiful countryside during the day and the stars at night. Bedrooms and ensuites were lovely. Huw was very helpful and responsive to any queries. Highly recommended.
Stephanie

Spencer
Absolutely fantastic stay, the cottage is amazing with plenty of space and facilities, the hot tub was loved by all of the family and the kitchen was amazing! The views were incredible and would definitely return Thanks to huw he was amazing from start to end and such a peaceful place Games room was also a great place for all ages to enjoy
Victoria
Absolutely amazing. Had the best week ever. Lots there to keep the children occupied. Very relaxing and fun week. Thank you
Katherine
A wonderful property for a large family gathering, with children and adults appreciating all that the cottage had to offer. Of note are the superb views, the spacious rooms, the ensuite shower rooms, the hot tub, Huws welcome and the efficiency with which he dealt with our power problem. The only could do better is that cleaning under the sofas has been overlooked we were searching for a missing toy part, not checking! And a. set of kitchen scales would be a useful addition to an otherwise fully equipped kitchen in this fabulous holiday home.
Steven
Fantastic property with great facilities. The views from the hot tub were amazing. We will definitely be staying again
No expense appears to have been spared in creating a luxurious holiday cottage. Agreed the weather was good which always enhances a break, but the fixtures and fittings throughout made this place outstanding.
Brilliant property with AMAZING views and excellent host. Very clean and equipped property with the shared games room and hot tub. The host was very accommodating any issues he was more than willing to help out and also gifted us some eggs from his farm. Would definitely recommended to friends and family.
Yvonne
Wonderful location and superb property. Thoroughly enjoyed by our family of 11. Would definitely go again and recommend to others
Jeannette
This is the best cottage we have had through Sykes. It was perfect the whole family had a wonderful time from the 75 year old to the youngest at 9. The view was fantastic
Thank you so much for your care and attention and friendliness to us all. We loved staying at your beautiful cottage, with beautiful space outside. Perfect!
Thank you Bryn, the house was just perfect. Amazing views. Thanks again.
Overall fabulous holiday home with the Owner being a lovely polite well likable individual who couldn't help us enough! credit to him. A few minor constructive critiques if I may, the listing doesn't state that you will be sharing the central garden or games room as communal which I found a little intrusive as my time with my family is precious and private. The Games room could do with some upkeep, dartboard needs replacing, etc. Checkin Times are too late and checkout times are too early when you are paying for the daynight it feels a little like advantage was taken and losing a day waiting to check into the home.
This is a fabulous holiday cottage. The facilities are excellent, the location is stunning. We all had a wonderful time, many thanks.
Shannan
We had a lovely time with friends at the cottage. very spacious and lots to do! Good guide to tell you whats in the local area on arrival. Clean. Welcoming host
Heather
Lovely property in stunning location. Toddler safety swing would be useful and there was no hairdryer in the property. Otherwise all excellent and we will hope to return!
Very enjoyable stay in a well equipped property. I would highly recommend.
Rebecca
We had a wonderful weeks stay here. Two families including 7 kids ranging from 16 to 2. The house is a great layout and has all the home comforts. We enjoyed the games room and outdoor play area. Plenty of space so we were never on top of each other. The bedrooms were great and versatile, we needed a few twins and our request was fulfilled. Lots of nice places to visit Barmouth beach was a big hit! Huw was very helpful and always to hand if we needed him. Would highly recommend!
Saiyma
Words cant explain how beautiful everything was. We have been to many cottages in Wales but by far this was the best one. The hosts were amazing, always there whenever we needed them. We felt at home. Defo a place to visit. Views, facilities, comfort, hot tub, playground, games room, bedrooms were 1010. Highly recommend to book and stay!!
Dionne
Absolutely loved our stay! The cottage is more beautiful in person than on pictures. The hot tub was set and ready for us to use on arrival. The Kitchen was fully equipped with a massive table to accommodate all the guests. Would 100 recommend and will definitely be booking again in the future
Debbie
We had an amazing stay truly home from home with everything we needed. The views at the cottage are breathtaking and the fact you can see them from the hot tub is a major bonus. Huw was so helpful with any issues and popped in most days to check in on us, even bringing fresh eggs from his chickens. We definitely hope to return!
We had a wonderful time staying in Shepherds Cottage. The hot tub and games room were a great bonus. The views were breathtaking and the facilities were to a very high standard. Huw was very friendly and quick to solve any minor issues that arose!
Just to say thank you for a wonderful week away with all the family. We all loved are stay and will book again soon.
We absolutely loved our stay, everything was top notch. We couldnt have asked for a more well equipped property. We would highly recommend this property and will definitely return. We hired the Granary also as there was a large group of us. Absolute luxury. Thanks Huw.
