Watersview Lodge Reviews

Andrew
Lovely lodge, great location. Heated balcony floor next to hottub was a great surprise! Would recommend anybody that likes squirrels to bring some nuts for them as they are very entertaining.
Michael
We had a very relaxing stay. The property is well maintained and very comfortable. It's worth noting that the road to the property is very rough and muddy. Also slightly disappointed with the communication from the owners, a welcome email wasn't received, so we were unaware the hot tub wouldn't be available on our final night. However when my husband spoke to the owner he made sure we were able to use it. There was no information in the property except for a few leaflets left by previous holidaymakers. In the past we have been used to a folder or something to let you know about the property and surrounding area. Thanks to Google though we were able to investigate the area during our stay.
Absolutely stunning. The setting by the lake amongst the tress was so peaceful and relaxing. The lodge itself had everything one could need, and was spotless. The hot tub an added bonus.
Watersview is a real gem of a property, extremely clean and well equipped with everything you need for a lovely stay. We took 2 dogs and 2 teenage children. Plenty of space for us all, with an enclosed garden for the dogs and run around communal field for all. It was such a lovely spot with a beautiful walk around Rudyard Lake, the miniature Steam train runs along one side of the lake. There is paddle board groups and boat hire and newfoundlands train on the lake. Can recommend the sunday carvery at the Rudyard Hotel, and 2 Cafe's all within walking distance. There is a disused railway line walk to Leek too. The hot tub was amazing we were in it every night! A dog friendly area all round. Thank you Matt & Mark!
Amanda
Just one word PERFECT
Really enjoyed our break at watersview Lodge. Spotlessly clean everywhere and everything we needed. Easy access to lakeside walks and disused railway line into Leek. TV and WiFi excellent and beds comfortable. Particularly enjoyed the hot tub and sitting outside with a glass of wine. Top class.
The accommodation is in the perfect location, all we could hear was birds singing. However the accommodation is tired and need a deep clean. The sofa needs cleaning, the cushions need renewing and the cupboard doors in the Kitchen need fixing under the sink. The site itself needs a gardener to tidy it all up.
Debbie
Beautiful, clean lodge right on Rudyard Lake, the local scenery is to die for and good routes to many local attractions. The owners were fast to respond to any questions and were kind enough to supply a travel cot and airdryer for our 2 week visit. Hot tub was a big hit with the family. We would highly recommend this quiet cabin.
Absolutely superb location and spotlessly clean accommodation with all the accessories required for a short or long term stay. The hosts were easily contacted and provided a simple and hassle free check inout. And let's not forget the well maintained and amazing hot tub! Only one criticism is the small sofas for relaxing in the evenings, as there was only room for 4 people even though the lodge sleeps 6.
Very clean, warm and comfortable, would use this property again. Enclosed garden for our dog a big bonus.
Ronald
Lovely property, had everything you need to have have a great holiday. the large hot tub was brilliant and under cover from the elements. We had a heavy fall of snow and with the owner decorating the property with a Christmas tree and other decorations it was even more magical. Each morning I took a two minute stroll down to the lake to feed the ducks and watch the anglers. Would book this property again without a doubt. Good quality furniture and big comfortable beds and good showers. Great layout and feeling of space and room to move about.
Melanie
We rent here often. Great location, all the amenities you need, very clean and great hosts. Hot tub makes it all perfect. I would like to book more short stays there during off season.
Lodge was excellent everything 5. We all had a relaxing and enjoyable stay will visit again
Elizabeth
Excellent vacation, except for a couple of rainy days this did not stop us from going out. Brilliant location for touring the area and quiet and peaceful. Having our dog with us was a bonus with a closed in garden but plenty of walks close by. The lodge was spotlessly clean and most comfortable, with the added bonus of a hot tub which we had no worries about using. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly and we highly recommend staying here.
Brenda
We arrived on 25 August to be greeted by the cleaning lady who was finishing off her duties. She took time to show us around and was very welcoming. The lodge itself was fantastic with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. We had some issues with the hot tub that we caused by pressing some wrong buttons but the owner resolved this immediately even though he was in France on holiday! We really felt at home in the lodge there were 6 of us and a dog and found the location to be exactly what we needed. I could not recommend this place highly enough and we will definitely be returning in the future! Thank you to Mark and Matthew and a shout out to Dan who helped with the hot tub issues. Absolutely fantastic holiday!
Great lodge, very clean and well equipped. The hot tub was well maintained and clean. Good location for travelling around the area.
Amazing home from home, location and lodge were just perfect. Owners are fantastic, friendly and helpful. Will be booking for next year.
Severine
Very nice cottage, very well equipped. It is spacious and lovely by the lake. The jacuzzi is very big and amazing! I would definitely recommend.
Visited Watersview lodge in July. We are family of 4 and our two teenage boys absolutely loved it. Lodge is very clean and well equipped, good WiFi. Hot tub is a nice touch especially after walk around the lake.
Melanie
2nd time I've stayed here and it's perfect Beautiful place. All the amenities you need. Great location. Owners are so great too. I'm ready to book another week.
What a fantastic dog friendly holiday let set in idyllic surroundings very close to Rudyard Lake, panoramic windows enable a relaxing view of the grounds where you can watch birds and squirrels including woodpeckers. Most relaxing holiday I have had. Accommodation was perfect and exactly as described. Hotel Rudyard recommended for food. Whilst the location appears remote and relaxing, Leek is within minutes by car with all major supermarkets, bars etc. Highly recommended.5
Patricia
Lovely clean lodge had everything you needed for an enjoyable stay. Would definitely go back.
Beautiful property with everything possible you needed. Immaculate and comfortable and the hot tub was a bonus. Great views in a idyllic location. Lovely walk from the property. Pub a short walk serving good food. Host very welcoming was on hand if there was a problem. Complimentary bottle of wine and water on arrival. Will definitely book again.
Christina
Beautiful, spacious lodge with everything you could need. Lovely view. Huge area for the children to play whilst in view all the time. Large hot tub. Lovely walks by the lake. Superb pubrestaurant a 5 minute walk away. Would definitely go back.
Michelle
Had a fab week in this gorgeous lodge . Communication from owners was great and helpful. Great setting overlooking lake . Clean inside and out. Hot tub was lovely. Bottles of water and wine on arrival! Highly recommend.
Excellent property, very clean and well maintained. Could easily have stayed much longer
Stephen
Generally very happy with our stay here. Well equipped and the hot tub was a much enjoyed bonus. It would have been useful if the shower cubicles came with a basket or somewhere inside them to put items such as a bar of soap. The lack of this led to us dropping the sink soap dish and having to pay for the breakage which we felt could have been avoided. Id the owners had ever used the showers they would have noticed this lack immediately and so we can't give it a higher approval rating.
Andrew
Great place to stay for a very relaxing experience. Provides everything you need for a 2 night getaway or 2 week staycation. Either relax in the very well maintained hottub or take a short walk down to Rudyard lake to see some breathtaking views. Lots to do if you want to get out and about too. Matt was very welcoming and you can tell he has passion for the area. We're hoping to come again soon. Thanks Matt
Lovely lodge with all you need. Only thing that's bad is the lane leading up to the lodges, it could do with a bit of TLC as there are a lot of deep pot holes
Josephine
Very clean, warm and comfortable, would use this property again. Enclosed garden for our dog a big bonus.
Lovely lodge in idyllic setting very close to walk to the pub & the lake & also very private even though more than 1 lodge. Ideal local venue for our girls weekend & we will be looking to book again next year
Excellent location, superbly clean, hot tub amazing and space for dogs to run in enclosed paddock was a massive plus. Wouldve loved a bit more storage for our food and drinks, especially fridge space sharp knives or a knife sharpener! and robes for hot tub. But a really enjoyable stay and I would return. Thank you.
Caroline
We had a fantastic weeks stay here with our two dogs. The lodge was immaculate with all the facilities you could possibly need and to top it off a fantastic Hot Tub which is well looked after during your stay! Lovely 45 mile walk around Rudyard Lake, which is gorgeous and then for a nice drink and a meal at The Rudyard Hotel which is only a 5 minute walk from The Lodge, the food there is fantastic. We would not hesitate to return here again
The property was absolutely amazing! Upon arrival It was clean and tidy and had anything you could possibly need. We were so impressed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the hot tub, it always looked clean and smelled fresh with chlorine. The property was beautiful and was a perfect place to take dogs with the big field on the back, within the perfect location as there was a large lake close by to take your animals on dog walks. The property owners were lovely and was always available for any questions you had, which was very reassuring.
Melanie
Lovely place and location. Comfortable, clean and has everything you need. Definitely will be back !

Alton Towers - ST10 4DB
about 11 Miles
Of course you can't mention attractions in Staffordshire without featuring the fabulous Alton Towers theme park.  The rides range from thrilling to quite simply terrifying although there are more gentle family rides for the little ones.  All ages are catered for here.  Some of the most famoue rides include Th13teen, Air, The Blade and Nemesis.  There is also a waterpark on site for some splashtastic fun. Look out for seasonal events taking place throughout the year such as Wonderful Winter, Pirate Weekend and The Ultimate Fireworks Event.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and save money by booking your tickets online.
Peak District National Park -
about 18 Miles
The Peak District National Park is the ideal place to relax and explore.  The stunning scenery will take your breath away and there is the opportunity to take part in ranger led guides and events.  These are ideal if you are new to the area or only staying a short time and want to see the best sights and walks.
British Wildlife Rescue Centre - TN8 7AR
about 19 Miles
This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre.  The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild.  Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA.  Visit their website to see the picture gallery and to find out how to help if this is something which interests you.  There are also regular fundraising events such as the Sponsered Leg Wax.
Gullivers Kingdom - DE4 3NT
about 21 Miles
This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.
Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT
about 21 Miles
This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.

The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. Group booking discounts are available.
Go Ape Cheshire - WA16 6RW
about 26 Miles
Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
Denby Visitor Centre - DE5 8NX

about 29 Miles
This is a very popular theme park with three different locations.  The theme park in Warrington contains not only the theme park but also Gullivers Splash Zone and Gullivers Star Studios.  The Solash Zone is a fully heated indoor water play factory fun for all ages which will appeal on rainy days.  Throughout the year there are seasonal events too such as the Halloween and Fireworks event taking place from 23rd to 31st October.  You can book online to save time and secure your tickets during busy periods.  Over 50% of the rides are actually under cover so you don't need to worry about the British weather spoiling the fun.
