Southview Farm Cottage Reviews

Emma T.
Really enjoyed our stay here! The cottage is super comfy and perfect for dogs with its enclosed paved garden. The owners are lovely and always ready to help. It’s in a great spot too - nearby attractions like Binchester Roman Fort and the deer park at Bishops Auckland are just a short drive away, making it ideal for walks and exploring.
Emma
We had a really relaxing time at the cottage, it’s super peaceful and cosy. The secure garden was perfect for our dog and made us feel at ease. The owners were quick to reply to emails beforehand, which helped a lot with planning. It’s quite remote, so no local shops nearby, just something to keep in mind. The hot tub was lovely, though it took a good few hours to heat up. Plenty of walks and activities if you’re willing to drive around. Overall, we’d definitely recommend it!

This place is super comfy, in a great spotand has a really nice, modern vibe inside.
Jessie

Emma
Lovely place, peaceful atmosphere, very comfy beds, would happily come back again!
Charlotte
We had a really lovely time at this charming little cottage. It suited us perfectly, especially with our dogsand we felt so relaxed during our week there. The garden was a real plus - fully enclosed with tall fences, which was such a relief after some past experiences. The cottage was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. There was plenty to explore nearby, keeping us busy on day trips. Honestly, we wish we could have stayed longer - it was just that nice!
Emma
Honestly, we weren’t impressed. The place wasn’t properly cleaned-there was pet hair and leftover food on the floor and sofa. The hot tub was also dirty and had a strong smell. To make things worse, we weren’t told about the noisy warehouse next door, which used loud power tools constantly. It definitely disrupted our peace and made the stay less relaxing than we’d hoped.
Emma
The owners here are genuinely lovely and super helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. They really went the extra mile to make our stay easy and enjoyable. Definitely recommend!
Emily
Really loved the cosy feel and how well everything was set up. Brilliant!
Emma
The cottage felt surprisingly roomy despite its size and was super cosy. It was peaceful and comfy, though a bit of WiFi would have been the cherry on top. We'd definitely come back if we get the chance.
Jamie Roberts
The cottage was super cosy and really comfy, especially the bed - didn’t want to leave in the mornings! Everything was spotless and well-maintained. The hot tub was just perfect after a long day. We had a lovely stay overall!
Oliver

We had a fabulous stay at the cottage! It was so clean and the furniture was super comfortable. The hot tub provided great funand we loved having a secure area for our dog to relax in too. When we met the hosts, they were really kind and friendly. This spot is a brilliant base for exploring the area, with loads to see and do right on the doorstep. We would definitely recommend a stay hereand we hope to be back soon!
Lyn
We absolutely loved our stay in this really comfy cottage! The hot tub was just fantastic, perfect for unwinding after a long day. We had a lovely time overall. Definitely worth a visit!
Sami
We had a lovely time at this super comfortable, well-presented, dog-friendly property! It was clean and modern with a great layout. The bed and pillows were so comfyand we appreciated the fresh, clean linen and towels. There was plenty of storage for our food and clothes too. The hot tub was amazing for relaxing once we figured out the perfect temperature. Plus, the garden was fully enclosed with 6ft fencing, including a lockable gate to keep our dog safe. Thank you xx
Laurel
What a lovely place to stay! Nestled in a charming village not far from Durham, it’s perfect for unwinding and escaping the hustle and bustle of life. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay (including dog bowls and treats, which was such a nice touch) - but honestly, the hot tub was our absolute favourite bit! We really can’t recommend this place enough; it’s a true credit to the owners, Amanda and Rob, who are super friendly and always willing to help when needed! We’ll definitely be back :)

Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT
about 26 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
Big Sheep - EX39 5AP
about 28 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
