Orchard Cottage Reviews

Fantastic stay. We loved every minute. Horses, sheep, dogs, river, hot tub, open fire... Lots of rest and relaxation.
Had a lovely stay for my partners 40th, beautiful cottage, although we booked a cottage for the hot tub which was a main feature we needed on our booking and it wasnt working help came and said it would be fixed after our stay which was a big disappointment and upon looking at quest book had been issues before dogs had a great time and lovely surroundings as so did we! ! Had a lovely weekend with the family. Very cosy
Lovely stay here in a great location to visit the north east. Communication with owner was excellent, helped us with several questions before & after our stay quickly. I would recommend this cottage to all who are interested in staying in the north east. 510 minutes away from Durham city, 2530 minutes away from Gateshead and surrounding areas where you can get any public transport to near by Newcastle upon Tyne or South Shields coastline etc Bedrooms were all very spacious and comfortable, kitchen dining area big enough for 8 adults and 2 little ones. All facilities were good, lots of garden space & lots of private parking for the property too. Struggle to find any faults with our stay here. Perfect!

Fantastic Holiday property. Very close to town but just removed enough to enjoy the peace. The owner went above and beyond for us and was very pleasant. The property itself is spacious and a great historical and modern representation. We were 3 generations staying together from Canada and it was a big hit with all of us. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay.
Claire
Lovely place. Will be back with Family next time. Never seen such friendly sheep and dogs!
Beautiful cottage, clean and had everything we needed. The group especially liked our friendly furry visitors nearby dogs thank you for a wonderful break away

A Fabulous house, in a beautiful location, full of charm and welcoming. It had everything we needed for our stay. Meticulously clean and very well equipped. Very comfortable beds. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.
The tiled border in the wetroom around the shower sticks out too far and on quite a few occasions I nearly tripped over it. Small dogs can get through the fence surrounding the property. Otherwise we loved it and would visit again.

We all enjoyed our 2 night stay at this lovely little cottage for a hen weekend it was clean and we loved the log fire at night, we were given a bottle of prosecco on arrival which was lovely. The hot tub was very clean and everything there that we needed in and around cottage was there. I would come stay here again. Only thing was where the rubbish is kept in a shed at back of cottage there wasn't much room for household rubbish and recycling it was already nearly full when we needed to dispose of rubbish but this is just a minor thing.
Alison
This cottage is stunning. The hot tub was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pictures dont do the cottage justice. The only negative is the fencing around the property. The fence has gaps between the slats. Our dogs are large and couldnt escape, but other dogs could go under the fence and get in to the garden. This meant we couldnt let our dogs out freely as they react to other dogs, but it didnt spoil our stay at all.

Lovely warm and cosy cottage ideal for a winter getaway. Clean and spacious in an attractive rural setting, ideal for walks. Close to Durham for shopping and restaurants. Ample parking for multiple cars. Highly recommended, great for a family get together. Nothing is too much trouble for friendly staff who attended at check in.
What a wonderful find this cottage is. We were a family of 6 adults and 2 children and we never felt cramped. Its very specious, very clean and the hot tub is lovely. Lots of extras that weve not come across before on similar properties such as coffee pods, dishwasher tablets and supplies for the washing machine. Had a lovely walk by the river bring your wellies in winter months the log fire was a treat in November. Only 3 miles from Durham but felt like we were in the middle of nowhere as its so peaceful yes so accessible. We will be back in the summer hopefully. Thank you to the host Peter
Rebecca
Great property in excellent condition. Well maintained. Nice touch to have cupboards with essentials like tea, coffee & sugar etc. WiFi a bit intermittent at times possibly due to the rural location. Lovely location for walks along the river and easy access to Durham and the surrounding areas. Would definitely recommend.
The photos don't do this gorgeous cottage justice. The bedrooms are spacious with the most comfortable beds. The lounge area was cosy and the log burner warmed the cockles after a dip in the Hot Tub. We stayed over Christmas and the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils and dinnerware enough to cook and serve a feast. The Owner was on hand to service the Hot Tub and sort the leaking shower and the Christmas decs added to the festive spirit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with next level service from booking to leaving.
Lovely cottage, just what we needed for our stay. Nice area more in country but easy access to the towns by car. Owner was nice and welcoming, would go back if we were to go back to the area

Love staying here this is our second stay and we will definitely be back the ... Love staying here this is our second stay and we will definitely be back the property is comfy and cosy and the hot tub is an added bonus
Absolutely lovely place we stayed here for our annual get together. The cottage is really lovely , clean, spacious, each room has a double comfy bed and the hot tub is big and fits all 8 of us in . The kitchen has a dishwasher and plenty of space to cook. The lounge area has a fire and plenty of seats for guests . 2 bathrooms one upstairs and one down clean and well designed. Towels provided for both showering and hot tub . The location of this property is fantastic only 1015 mins drive in to Durham centre. I will be coming back to this place. Its ticks all the boxes for us. There is really nice walk , gated entrance to a near by field that takes to the river and short incline to the wicker man. Highly recommend this place and look forward to returning.

Fabulous Cottage, location and facilities. Would highly recommend to anyone.
This is a spacious and well equipped property set in beautiful countryside, yet only a few minutes drive from the centre of Durham. It proved to be the perfect place for our weekend family gathering the huge parking area was a real bonus as we all made our way there separately in four vehicles. The owner was friendly and approachable, and his advice about the local area was invaluable during our short stay particularly his intimate knowledge of the best place to park for a speedy getaway after attending the Great North Run! Highly recommended
Lovely cottage in superb location with amazing walks and hot tub. A few things need to be addressed The fridge is woefully too small for 8 adults and 2 infants over the period of a week, we had to throw some food and milk away as it had gone off. The dustbin is a standard domestic wheelie bin and one only and was almost full on arrival though emptied on the following Tuesday after our arrival the previous Friday and only the standard kerb side box for bottles. The cleaning of the premises wasnt great either I could write my name on the bedside lamps bases on arrival and the bathroom cabinet was very dirty inside. None of this detracted from our wonderful stay celebrating my sixtieth birthday and generally the cottage is beautiful and I would not hesitate to return and recommend.
Jacqueline
We booked the cottage for a family birthday. Beautiful setting & cottage, just as described online. Would definitely book it again & recommend to anyone. Great space for the dogs.

I booked this one for my dad's 60th and could not have been happier with my choice. The cottage is surprisingly big and easily accommodates up to 8 people, it has a lovely riverside walk that starts right next to the cottage and a hot tub. What more could you want? Also you're only a short drive from Duhram, which is definitely worth a visit or three. The only issue we had was solved in the first few hours we were there by the owner Peter who notified me that there was an issue with the hot tub pump and that he was already on the way to pick up the new part on a bank holiday, what a legend safe to say it wasn't a problem for long. Also, throughout the day you're likely to get visited by the friendliest dogs ever who just want your love and definitely not that pizza crust you have left over. Highly recommend.
Alison
The cottage was lovely, very clean, exactly what we wanted. Great location, easy access into Durham. Hot tub was lovely. Only one thing we said was it could have done with a full length mirror.
Lindsey
Really lovely property was equipped with everything you could ask for. Hot tub was great but weather was not kind and a covered pergola or something would have been perfect but it certainly didnt stop us getting in. Every bedroom was immaculate and beds very comfortable . Would highly recommend and will book again for our annual school reunion . Thankyou to the hosts for the lovely touch of a bottle of bubbly on arrival much appreciated .
Hannah
A lovely peaceful weekend away with my friends. Peter gave us a very warm welcome and we had a 4 legged friend that visited through out the weekend. Lovely walks followed by a chill in the hot tub. We will be back!
Kayleigh
Just came back from staying in this beautiful cottage had an amazing time the house is beautiful and well equipped has everything you need. The beds are comfy and really soft bedding. We really enjoyed the hot tub and walks down to the river. Owners are really friendly and helpful. And to top it off having visits from the two dogs honey and nutty everyday was a bonus .
Beautiful, clean country property just outside of town. Friendly host.
Angela
The beds were like bricks other may like this but not us.
Excellent facilities, closely situated to many attractions and brill days out. The only thing is there wasnt enough large pans to accommodate cooking for 8 adults, but we managed!
E Catriona
A really great location, and very comfortable house
Matthew
What a fabulous place to stay, a stunning cottage in stunning surroundings. Perfect base for our stay. Will definitely stay again and would highly recommend.
Peter our host was very friendly & helpful in every respect
Jackie
Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting, perfect for dog walking. Short drive into lovely city of Durham. Hot tub was fab, weather wasn't great while we stayed so maybe a woodenother material gazebo type structure over to keep rain off in bad weather would be nice. Would definitely return and recommend to others

Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT

Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
