Scafell Lodge Reviews

Patricia
Cottage was like home from home everything you needed was there
Jamie
Beautiful lodge with all home comforts, very peaceful place . Lovely covered hot tub for relaxing.
chris
The cabin was excellent.
Graeme
The main couch is very low. Again this is a problem for anyone with disability problems. no hand rail or grab rail to assist in getting in and out of the hot tub and that was a bit of a challenge for me. We were asked to Hoover in the arrival literature to keep the pet hair to a minimum but there was no hoover and I was unable to find any oven glovRead morees when using the oven.Given the remoteness of the park and the prices charged I thought a welcome pack with basic pint of milk would have been good Hide
ALLYSON
We felt the space was too small, needed upgraded internally and was overpriced. The hot tub, however, was fabulous and very private which we loved. We had pretty much all we needed but had to ask for more towels which were readily supplied. The location was very peaceful and close to Coniston water and Beacon Tarn which we loved.
Reginald

We enjoyed our stay at Crake Valley. An outstanding area of natural beauty. Across the road from the entrance at is access to the lake and there is a small jetty which was lovely for swimming from - including a ladder to enter/exit the water. We ate several times at The Wilsons at Torver, on the way to Coniston. Lovely meals, friendly staff, dog fr iendly - you will probably have to book as its very popular.

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 9 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 11 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 15 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 17 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 18 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 27 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
