Green Hills Farm Reviews

Great stay. Enjoyed the wine & grandchildren devoured yummy cake on arrival. Thank you. Large & comfortable with all things needed, provided & thank god for the dishwasher! Steve gave me directions for the local shore, fantastic. Needed a hoover & Steve went & bought a new one! Thank you. Could do with a coat stand & hooks on backs of doors for garments. Location is beautiful, peaceful yet with easy access to local town Ulverston & beyond. Will definitely come back. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Michelle
My family all enjoyed our stay at Green Hills Farm, the cottage was equipped with everything we needed, very spacious. The owner was welcoming and we loved our visit from the two little dogs. The perfect place to stay to explore the Lake District.
Justine
Beautiful place lovely people made us feel very welcome & great place with our 2 dogs as well . We give it a
The cottage suited our needs for 6 adults and 3 dogs. There was plenty of room as each room in the house was very big. Plenty of seating both in lounge and dining room. 4 large bedrooms. House is on a working farm which didn't bother us. The owners Steve & Sarah very friendly and a cake and bottle of wine was a nice touch. Would definitely stay there again.
Christine
Nice and big and clean. Comfy beds. Lots of towels. Plenty of hot water. Good equipment. Helpful owners just next door who sorted out a little heating problem for us straight away.
Joanna
Fabulous!!!
This property was in a really peaceful location with beautiful views. The house was well equipped and extremely comfortable. Lovely to be made welcome with wine and cake. The area is full of things to keep anyone occupied for weeks. I would say highly recommended.
Lesley
Lovely spacious house, in a great location. Very well equipped. We enjoyed our stay.

Only stayed for 2 nights as it was a chance to catch up with family. The cottage was nice but a little tired in places but a good size there were 8 of us and one small dog weather was kind to us so managed a nice walk on the Saturday. Hosts were very welcoming
Owners Steve and Sarah's hospitality was excellent. Happy to help. Would definitely recommend Green Hills. Location, Comfortable cottage, Amazing views. No negatives.
Everything went very well, wonderful attention and support in everything we needed. Thank you very much!
Great location for Lake District access. Friendly owners who were helpful throughout
We had a fantastic week staying here, access to the lakes is brilliant. The farmhouse has everything you need, and more. Ulverston is a great little town, with lots of interesting shops and pubs. The monument is worth a visit, where the views are outstanding. We'll be back. Steve and Julia.
Large and spacious property with all the equipment needed for your stay. Nice big rooms and comfy beds. Property is a bit remote but not far from town and can be walked to. The property is both central to the Lakes and other coastal areas you may want to visit. The hosts were friendly and helpful and were there if you needed them. Only con comment I can think of was the noisy plumbing but it didn't detract from enjoying our stay at the property.
The hosts are warm and welcoming. The house was everything we all needed and we enjoyed trying out the games. Would love to go again and so would our family.
Natalie
Excellent property. Very comfortable for 8 people, including 3 teens and 5 adults. Very well equipped. Perfect location for the lakes and enjoyed the local walk to the coast. Hosts very good at communicating and available at anytime if needed.
Andrew
Perfect accommodation for our needs. Owners were friendly and helpful. The house smelt clean and fresh when we arrived and it was a good size. Large rooms and plenty of space for all of us. Having a dishwasher was useful because there was ample crockery so it could be filled for use. The house was generally very well equipped and nothing was too much trouble for Steve and Sarah. Excellent property for our dog too!
Joanne
We had a great stay at Greenhills Farm. Steve and Sarah couldn't have been more helpful. The house was very well equipped, particularly the kitchen, with plenty of crockery and good sized pots, pans and serving dishes. The beds were very comfortable and the towels fantastic!
Rebecca
We had a lovely family Christmas in this house. I must say, I dont think the photographs of the interior do it justice. All of the interiors were lovely and much bigger than they look online, with great quality bedding and towels. A great location with a fantastic walk to the coast and good centrality to drive to other places of interest. Would definitely stay here again.
Lesley
One of the best cottages weve ever stayed in. The hosts were lovely and the area beautiful. Cannot fault anything. I know farmers are up early and cleaning has to be done but 10am check out was a bit if a rush for 8 over 70s. This is not a Criticism just an observation It would not put us off going again. Fabulous xx
Sharon
This is a great place to stay for 3 nights for a get together for a family celebration. The cottage was very comfortable with everything we required.
We had a great time 4 adults, 3yr old and dog. Was perfect for us. Location brilliant and house great hosts friendly and helpful
Anthony
Perfect location, very friendly and helpful owners, everything you need is there. Cottage is massive with plenty of space and room.
Matthew
The house was huge! We were really pleased with how much room we had and the location was beautiful. Great access to Ulverston and SteveSarah were fantastic hosts. Would definitely recommend for a big group!
Robert
Green Hills Farm is a wonderful location, tucked away but within driving distance of Ulverston and so close to everything you want to see and so in the south Lakes. The hosts are superb and made us so welcome and were very accommodating. All the beds were extremely comfortable and all the linens were spotlessly clean and the lovely white towels were hotel fluffy which was a treat! The rooms were spacious and well provided for with decent high quality furniture and plenty of wardrobe space, and the two showers were both good, well served with hot water. The white goods, the dishwasher, washer and tumble dryer, were all in perfect order and much appreciated. Big TV and free Wifi and Netflix all appreciated. Having a separate dining room really was brilliant and there was more than enough good crockery and cutlery for all, as well as good array of cooking utensils. Having a private garden and places to sit at the front and back all meant we had a variety of spaces in which to relax. Overall, we all really loved our stay it was a great place for relaxation and unwinding. Small but important matters to note a sign on the A590 main road and again at the turns in the lane would be very useful. There is no signage that can be seen and near neighbourslocals had never heard of the address or the host family finding Green Hills in the dark would be impossible, it was a challenge in daylight. Also, though there's nothing the hosts can do about the lane, guests should be aware that lowaxle cars may struggle due to the severalinchesdeep potholes on the approach from the main road to the farm's own well maintained lane. Given the cottage can host up to eight guests, a larger fridge or a separate small fridge would have proven very useful. Also, while this is very well publicised as a working farm a quiet one at that, there is no disturbance at all, guests should come forewarned about the flies. On our last day we killed 42 in the kitchen alone while preparing dinner, having spent a small fortune on fly sprays and fly papers over our stay. Not a problem per se, but some guests may be more squeamish! Finally, grab handles for when using the lovely big bath could help guests use the facility with confidence it is quite a high sided bath.
Cottage met our expectations close to where we wanted to Go owner very friendly and helpful good holiday had by all
Our stay at Green Hills was just what we needed after lockdown. The view out of every window was amazing, even when it rained. The house is massive and so are the beds. My grandson loved seeing the cows, horses and sheep in the fields outside the window. A lovely welcome surprise from our hosts Sara and Steve of a bottle of wine and a cake was very much appreciated. The beds are so comfortable, there is plenty to do in the house lots of games and Netflix on the tv as we were home early with having a 2 year old. There is also a barbecue for our use, nothing was missed. Although there is a permanent gate on the bottom of the stairs there isnt one at the top so someone had to stay with my grandson till he was asleep as he thought it was a great adventure being able to get out of bed and run from room to room, so we would take a gate for his room next time. Lots of local shops and pubs, plenty of parking. The house is situated on a working farm, but it didnt smell like I thought it might, nor was there any flies. We had to drive down a narrow track to and from the house, but every time we came across another vehicle they always gave us priority and I wasnt sure if that was because we were guest, it did make us feel special though. On the day we were due to leave the traffic was at a standstill and Sara told us to wait it out at the house while she cleaned upstairs which we are grateful for as it didnt move for an hour and a half. Very accommodating hosts.

Steve was a great bloke and had a lovely family who were all more than willing to help with recommendations
Beautiful location, close to many tourist sites, the cottage itself was well set up for large groups with 2 bathrooms. Kitchen very well equipped for large groups and also an option to sit outside and use bbq facilities etc. Would love to return again. Highly recommend Sarah and Steve's farm cottage.

The cottage was very comfortable and perfect for taking dogs the hosts were very welcoming Ideal spot for visiting south lakes during the day and peaceful at night If visiting this area again this wll be first on the list
Green Hills farm was a lovely cottage. The cottage was very spacious. The two bathrooms was a god send, as we had 8 of us staying. Steve the owner was very welcoming and helpful. I would recommend it to all my friends.
Property was a great space for us as a group of 7 adults. The rooms were a good size and we didn't feel cramped. Location was also good, near Ulverston, nice walks, shops, cafes etc.
Michael
I know it's difficult as a working farm but might be good to have a small play area for the children at Greenhills farm
A really well appointed house in a very convenient location close to all amenities and to many South lakes attractions. Sarah, Steve and the dogs were very welcoming and most helpful when planning trips out and with good places to eat. We would definitely recommend Green Hills Farm for a family holiday and Steve's' potatoes were the tastiest we've had in a long while. Many thanks for an excellent week.
Green Hills Farm is a lovely spacious home and I would not hesitate to recommend the accommadation for anyone wishing to visit the South Lakes area.
Super helpful owners, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Great size rooms and outdoor space to relax. Well equipped family home.
Hollie
Just got back after a lovely time! The house was brilliant, loads of space and really well equipped with everything youd need. The beds were really comfy, lots of fresh towels supplied and lovely clean bedding. It was lovely seeing all the animals in the nearby fields with my daughter especially loving the horses and Rodney the dog was a cutie! We loved our visit and look forward to staying again in the future.
Really friendly people and a great place to stay
Matthew
This lovely home was perfect for us. The owners went above and beyond, meeting and greeting, preparing the number of beds we needed, providing cots, high chairs, toys, cuddly toys, the works. We arrived to a nice bottle of wine and big chocolate cake. The kitchen was very well stocked, including all of the little bits like cooking spices, oil, kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets etc. We actually couldn't have asked for more. Would highly recommend.

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 5 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 12 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 12 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 23 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT

Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
