Amazing location. Really comfortable cottage. Could do with some sprucing up / updating but overall we had a great time
Paul
Cottage in a pretty village with great pubs/eating places. Good location for accessing lake district attractions. Property tired and needs maintenance and investment. Cobwebs in the downstairs bedroom window. Tv and Sky connection was ridiculously temperamental and instructions needed. Also no instructions to operate heating system. Laura
Over priced for a poor condition of a cottage, such a shame as village of cartmel is lovely. Could not use hot tub first night as it was too cold. Dusty and unclean. Uncomfortable beds. Living room smelt of damp dogs. Down an alley way with lots of rubbish, no parking near property have to walk to racecourse. Do not stay if you want to have a nice Read moreproperty as you will not get this here. Very disappointing. Hide

Cottage is in a very central location in the village. It has been lovely at some point but had a number of issues with the heating and hot water. It certainly isnt worth what is being charged for it.
Sarah
The location of this cottage is perfect - central to the village and all amenities. Whilst you have to park at the racecourse the cost is only 35 for 7 days which we felt very reasonable. We loved the Aga and had a very comfortable stay, although cottage needs some repairs and improvements, and cleaning could be better. Location for the cottage was great, right in the centre of Cartmel. The owners were helpful and great too. The property has so much potential, but reading over the other reviews from after my booking, I would agree with after having visited. It needs freshening up to keep to the standards rated. Simple things, but would make the property so much niRead morecer. Hide

This Property is ideally situated in the centre of Cartmel. Great house for our family Christmas get together. Very comfortable to relax and unwind. Responsive owner. Have already recommended to friends and hope to return at some point.

Excellent stay for all my family, would definitely stay again.
Tracey
Cartmel is a lovely beautiful village with a wide choice of venues for eating out and entertainment. And all within east walking distance, good sized rooms, lovely and peaceful.
Beverley
Lovely stay in this cottage - it was very clean and comfortable. The hot tub was a real bonus. The location in the centre of Cartmel is ideal for exploring the area.
Adele
Comfortable cottage in an ideal location. Hot tub the icing on the cake, so to speak! Parking on the racecourse is easy
Lisa
Spacious and well equipped cottage. The location was great for us, next to a bar with live music and fresh pizzas, perfect for an evening dog walk and drink after. Lots of pubs and cafes nearby. The parking is 5-10 mins walk away at the racecourse, you can pay for a whole week, but you can park outside for shorter times and to drop off and pick up. Hot tub was perfect after a day at the lake, few finishing touches needed and downstairs shower doesnt really work but overall lovely place.
Chantal
We arrived for a week to include the end of June raceweekend. The cottage is in the most wonderful location, close to everything you'd want to get to, and the locals are lovely. The cottage itself is needing a bit TLC. The beds were lovely and comfortable. Could have done with more pans for the halogen hob. Otherwise plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses. There were 4 couples, using all the rooms, with one couple using an upstairs room didn't have any hanging/drawer space. Otherwise ok
Colin
Well lets start with the good bits. Cartmel is a beautiful small Village , with great dining options . The property however was a real let down. We hired this as a surprise milestone birthday gift for a group of 4. The downstairs shower room wasn't draining away, so the 4 adults were having to use one bathroom. Problem known by owner and when repor ted . Not fixed during our stay . TV SKY Q needed a full reconnect which we got from You Tube. No instructions. Worth the 2K plus paid for it ? No
Alison
Very comfortable cottage in a fab location. We used the race course car park and had no issues with this. Cottage was lacking a bit of TLC, the heating has a mind of its own! Hot tub was lovely, we enjoyed very good weather so got lots of use of it. Lovely pubs and beer gardens within minutes walk. Would definitely return.
Lauren
Beautiful property in a gorgeous village. The layout and design were wonderful and all of our party commented on the dining conservatory; we'd love one in our own homes. Lovely listening to the rain pattering down or the sun beaming through. The hot tub was a real treat too and easily fit 6-8 guests! We'll be returning very soon, I'm sure.
Alex
Fabulous property. Good value for money. Very clean and cosy with everything we needed. Great location. Only problem was the parking, pricey at the Racecourse. Owner very friendly and approachable.
Alison
Lovely cottage, fab location and with good local amenities. Fab walks for dogs. Hot tub and logburner were great. All week parking at the racecourse was 35 reasonable but no mention of this in advert which was unexpected. Great pubs and fab little deli with Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside in easy driving distance ..... will be coming again defini tely.
Julie
Suberb location in cute cottage that has a lot of space. Hot tub was an lovely addition.
Patricia
Excellent location, very comfortable and well equipped for 7 adults 1 baby ( apart from the high chair) and dog. Clean and fresh smelling throughout. Parking tricky especially for less mobile people ( we had an elderly lady and a chap recovering with a leg injury) but racecourse parking affordable and in easy reach. Everything you need is on your d oorstep, great food, pubs, cafes, quirky shops, priory was lovely although bells every hour through the night.
Andrew
Just love the place and cartmel
Amy
Overall we had a fantastic weekend- just a few things let it down. The no parking situation was not stated before we arrived. Which meant we paid 60 parking as we had 3 cars. Also the electrics went off and we had to use the torch on our phones on the Saturday night and Sunday morning. I think just a general deep clean of the house is needed, you c ould tell everything was fresh bedding etc but a lot of dust and when we wiped over the island and sides all black come off them! Thanks
Patricia
The cottage is in a perfect location in the beautiful village of Cartmel. As previous reviews have said the cottage could do with some tlc. Not very well equipped for 8 people, no information how to use anything and just general maintenance. Also please be aware about the parking situation. We had 2 fines during the week as the traffic warden comes round every day and wouldn't want others to get caught out.
Peter
Fantastic location with lots of amenities on the doorstep. Lovely comfortable spacious cottage and hot tub is great. It's difficult to park at the property with just two available free spaces - we were there a week out of season and only got one once. You can pay 35 for the week to park at the race course 5 min walk away. Had some teething problems with internet (which meant no TV), erratic boiler and lacking kitchen equipment but owner rectified these quickly. Would return.
Karen
Enjoyed a great family get together in Cartmel. Cottage not as clean as I would expect. Wifi went down several times. Boiler went off and needed topped up three times. Downstairs shower drains so slowly it is full before you get hot water. Sleeps 9 but only enough glasses for three and cups for 6. Upstairs doors hard to shut. A good sized house but starting to need some TLC.
Alison
Great stay in cartmel. Location is great This property could be fantastic with some care and attention and proper information for guests.
Susan
This is a beautiful cottage however it is lacking upkeep and repair. The photographs advertising the cottage are well dated and doesn't reach the requirements for a 5 star rating. On arrival to the property the aga wasn't working. This was reported to the owner who did attempt to resolve the problem, however due to unprecedented circumstances was u nable to. Despite the above comments we were still able to enjoy our time at the cottage in such a beautiful location.

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 9 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
