Ash Lodge Reviews

Samantha
Loved staying here nice and private time away to just chill out for a few days would definately recommend
Rachel
The lodge and location was beautiful, clean and very tranquil in the evening. The disappointing side was that we were woken up each day by either the workmen that were working on the Reservoir next to the lodges or a lot of activity on site bins being emptied, dogs barking, chainsaw etc.. We went out during the day to avoid the noise, but we would have appreciated to be told about the workmen prior to arriving.
Very nice and private cottage, relaxing and quite close to shops restaurants and amenities.
Great property in a fantastic location, self contained and well appointed private rural couples retreat with beautiful daytime views of surrounding hills and star gazing evenings from your own private Hot tub.
Matthew
Ash lodge was fantastic, so cosy and homely it was a joy to come back to each day. We will certainly be looking to return in the future. The only one suggestion we had is it would be nice to have a couple of coat hooks but thats just being picky. Absolutely 5 stars and would recommend to anyone!
Add coat hookstowel hooks!
Steven
Lovely cabin, ideal for what we wanted
The property was very clean and tidy and the heaters were very efficient but the cottage was also very small. The hot tub ,although under cover, was also open to the elements. The estate was very remote down some single track roads and their was little walking directly from the estate unless you walked down the road. The one signposted walk was inaccessible due to a barbed wire fence.

We had lovely stay in Ash Loge. The lodge was clean cosy and well equiped. Set on farm in very peacefull scenery. We both enjoyed jumping in hot tube every evening and even strong winds didnt stop us as it sits under roof, perfect! Lovely views of the hils and great place for morning coffee i loved it. Recommend to all for romantic, relaxing break!
Silvia
We stayed for a week and it was really great! Not big place, but has everything you need, it's nice, clean and cozy. The hot tub is under the roof which is really big help when the weather is not good so you can use it at any time without rain pouring on your head! More places should have sheltered jacuzzi. Kitchen is well equipped, with tea towels, washing liquid and sponge, rubbish bags, there was tea, coffee, sugar and some milk sticks in the fridge, salt and pepper and even aluminium foil. Bottle of wine and crisps on arrival. Fantastic! The cabin has hair dryer and even bathrobes! The hand soap was provided but no other toiletries. 2 rolls of toilet paper, as we spent most days out, it was enough. If not, there's shops in the village you can buy everything aldi is about 10 min drive from cottage. We really appreciate how clean it was apart from cobwebs in the bedroom above chandelier those were thick, yikes
Loved the break nice and quiet withh privacy
The lodge was in a perfect setting and had a warm homely feel. My husband and I enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.
Samira
Very cosy, peaceful and comfortable place to stay. The surrounding scenery was lovely and I would definitely stay again.
An excellent break for my 50th Birthday. Quiet & Relaxing which is what we wanted. Hot tub not up to temp on 1st night but was aware this might be the case so not a problem. Would highly recommend and use again ourselves in the future. Only fault was the April Weather, but cant help when my birthday is
Stephen
Lovely accommodation very well fitted and all the equipment was first date. The surroundings countryside and views are second to none. We very much enjoyed our weeks break. Thank you.
Lovely cabin and views, unfortunately the toilet seat was broken when we arrive and the shower isnt very powerful. There was a power cut while we was there which is no fault of the host but I did have to wait nearly 2 hours for a response and the same day the hose went missing off the decking and the host was again messaged as was going to find out the next day where it was and then unfortunately we didnt hear anything back regarding this. There was also 2 cats and a dog that kept approaching the cabin in the day which did stop us from using the hot tub as one of the cats was trying to get into the cabin and made itself comfortable on the hot tub.

We had a lovely 3 nigth stay at ash lodge for my partner's 40th birthday the property was immaculate and so cosy and homely the hot tube was an added bonus we did have a bit of snow and rain while we was there and it was blowing in on us while in the the hot tube so I think a piece of pvc plastic on the arch way opposite the hot tube would help in the bad weather but that said we would definitely return to ash lodge in the future.

Beautiful lodge in a picturesque position. Fantastic views, to watch deer, rabbits. Lovely and warm with very comfy bed. Hot tub was nice and warm. Cockerell was an issue for me, and the new frying pan was not an indication pan, so did not work.
Fantastic stay at Ash Lodge. Well presented and clean. Extremely cosy and comfortable in the evenings. Would definitely recommended! Thank You
Caroline
Perfect in every way Location, comfort and facilities. The lodge is within reasonable distance to places we wanted to visit. The town of ulverston is very pretty with some good places to eat. Ordinarily, I sleep poorly when not in my own bed. There wasnt a hope of this here, the bed was so comfortable I slept like a log each night. Even my worry of being cold at the lodge this time of year was eased, sometimes it got too warm this is in no way a complaint Bathroom was big enough for what you need whilst away. Kitchen, although compact, again, has everything you could need for a few days break away and the few essentials to clean were very helpful alongside the lovely wine and milk that was kindly left. Being able to sit in the hot tub on an evening and watch the stars topped off this wonderful visit.
EXCELLENT Everything was 100 perfect, beautiful location, very quiet and private. The hot tub was great, even though the weather was quite cold. Will definitely be staying again, and would recommend anyone to stay here, you will not be disappointed.
Ash Lodge was beautiful in a stunning setting! It had everything you could possibly need and was the perfect little getaway. The only negatives were the lodge has 2 visiting cats that live in the barn behind, and previous visitors had clearly allowed them into the lodge and fed them regularly which led to a lot of cat hair everywhere. A minor issue unless like myself you suffer a severe allergy to cats! This was rectified after requesting a hoover from the owners. The hot tub also had exceptionally high levels of chlorine in that caused coughing and eye stinging each time you turned the jets on. This isnt a negative review though as these issues were minor I would most definitely return and stay again one of the best holidays Ive ever had!
Carina
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ash Lodge for honeymoon. The lodge was spotless, and very home like. They even provided a complimentary bottle of wine. Scenic location with easy access to roads for day tripping and walks, and appreciated our visits from the local farm cat. Would highly recommend
We visited ash lodge for our honeymoon and had the most perfect time. It was our first time in the Lake District and it was absolutely spot on. Everything was immaculate and the facilities were spot on. We will definitely be visiting again! Thank you!
Amazing lodge with everything you could need, clean cosy and comfy with spectacular views
Michael
Everything was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay there and the bottle of wine was appreciated .
Stephen
A brilliant location, pleasantly quiet and peaceful without be being so remote that you're cut off. This was our second visit.
We had an amazing time at ash lodge. It made our first trip to the lakes memorable and we will definitely be back in the future.
Lovely lodge in a beautiful setting, peaceful, fantastic views. Great watching all the different species of birds. The lodge was warm, clean, very well equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely visit again.
It really was an absolutely beautiful setting in an ideal location for our wedding anniversary. Small town less than 10 mins drive away for anything you need. Went for a meal on the Friday night. And Saturday night ordered a takeaway delivery which was great. The hot tub was just incredible looking out onto the fields. Very spacious for 2 people. Me and my wife had an incredible time and the lodge was perfect for what we needed. Would recommend to anyone.

Highly recommend this property to anyone considering a break to the Lake District. When we arrived the cabin was warm, cosy and absolutely spotless. The views from the decking were fabulous, and the complimentary bottle of wine was a very nice bonus! Having the hot tub enhanced the experience even more as it was nice to sit back, relax and look at the stars after a long day. The directions to reach the cabin were very clear and absolutely spot on. We were within perfect driving distance to everything we wanted to do including hikes, exploring Windermere and taking in all the beautiful scenery. Ulverston is less than 10 minutes drive away and is such a lovely town. I will absolutely be recommending Ash Lodge to any friends and family who are considering a getaway to the Lake District I only wish we had stayed longer!
This was our second stay. The first at Thimble Cottage this time opting for ash lodge ideal for two & overlooking the hillside good to see the wildlife deer ext. The hot tub ideal bed comfortable well kept and clean lodge . A special thank you to Noel the site manager after a telephone call to him having left a large amount of charity money in a drawer, he found it and returned it to me by registered post the day after and told me to put the cost of postage in the charity box. George & Lynne will be back later in the year.
Madelaine
We absolutely loved our stay in Ash Lodge. It was remote but close enough to town if we needed anything. The cabin itself was lovely and cosey which was much needed as the weather was awful! Hottub was such a great touch and everything about it was just perfect. The only slight let down for us was the shower. The water pressure was so bad that it was literally a trickle. But that aside everything else was spot on and we would absolutely stay again!
Gorgeous relaxing break in an unreal setting. We had a lovely short break, just what the Dr ordered. No negatives from me I was just a bit gutted I didn't pack my hair dryer as thought there would be one, more my poor planning. Thanks for a lovely stay. We would highly recommend it for a relaxing retreat!!
Nicholas
A perfect break for us after a busy year, hiked a few mountains and relaxed and spent some quality time together in the hot tub. We will definitely be back, if it wasn't for my partner needing to work on the 29th we would of extended our stay if it was available. Thankyou for a perfect stay.
Monique
Lovely weekend away, warm and welcoming! Thoroughly enjoyed.
Bethany
Me and my boyfriend stayed here at the end of November 2021. We arrived at around 4pm to a warm hot tub, all of the lights on and a complimentary bottle of wine which was a lovely touch. The whole weekend was fantastic, the hot tub is ideal for two people and the lodge itself is spacious, homely and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and cutlery etc ready for you to bring your own food. The directions given were also very helpful, however, when the postcode was typed into Apple maps, it directed us right to the lodge anyway which was great. The lodgehot tub area is also very private which is nice and there are also lovely views with a very scenic surrounding area. We visited Ulverston which is a short car journey away and lots of parking. Lots of nice places to eat, drink and shop and we even caught the light switch on which was lovely! The only thing I can say is you may need to pack some toilet roll as we were only left one roll and had to buy some, I'm not sure if this was an accident or not! However, that is the only tiny negative and all in all the lodge is fabulous and I would definitely return and recommend.
Danielle
Fantastic stay, wish we had longer. So cosy and the hot tub was a lovely addition. Will definitely come back perhaps to a larger cabin as we were on our mini moon. But Ash lodge was just perfect couldnt fault it.
Lauren
We stayed here at Ash Lodge for two nights. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm lit cabin and a bottle of wine which was a lovely touch. The cabin is lovely and cosy, it has all the things you could need for a break away. The views from the cabin are incredible and your only a short walk from even further breathtaking views. Id defiantly stay here again and loved every second of our break so thank you very much Ash Lodge.
Heather
Ash Lodge was absolutely wonderful. We had a great stay. Best hot tub we've ever had in a holiday let, and we've stayed in a fair few I like that both users were in a reclined position. We were however bitterly disappointed that we couldn't get in it until 9pm due to waiting for it to heat up. The bed was so comfortable and the bedding was lovely and soft. Only thing I needed and didn't have was a sharp knife, and a couple of hooks for towelsdressing gowns in the bathroomby the hot tub.

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 2 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 14 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 16 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 18 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 25 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
