Oak Lodge Reviews

Hayley
Great lodge, its position was really private, exceptionally clean hot tub. Comfortable beds and good shower. Lovely girls who came to check hot tub. Extremely helpful gardener who provided us with long hosepipe to wash our bikes. Just need to remind whoever cleans Lodge that certain items, washing up liquid, dish washer tablets, hand soap bathroom were all low resulting in having to buy locally, it might be that we were just unlucky that these items were about to all run out at the same time.
Rosemary
Extremely comfortable, spacious and well appointed accommodation.

My family had a lovely time at Oak Lodge. Great location. Lovely lodge. Amazing hot tub. We had a very relaxing week. No issues at all. We were lucky with the weather although not lucky with the timing of the muck spreading by the local farmer! Haha! All the equipment in the lodge was excellent think this is the first lodge I have stayed in with steak knives! Local village has all you could need. Bakery wow!, farm shop vegetables & butchers and a Coop. Close to several beaches recommend Blue Anchor free parking and lots of pubsrestaurants but do ring and book first. I would highly recommend a stay in this lodge.
Matthew
Absolutely loved our week away. The cottage was clean, comfortable and in a lovely quiet location. We will definitely look to stay again in the future.
Teresa
Lovely property, hot tub was great. 'welcome pack' not really a welcome pack, as you had to look for it. I'm used to a welcome pack being items left out in the kitchen to welcome you to the property. Often being a pack of tea bags, small jar of coffee, bottle of wine etc. Maybe that needs revising. We didn't use the tea bags as they were in the jar and no idea of the date of them. We left our pack of T Bags that we bought in the week. Together with the coffee. Other than that, which didn't retract from the great location and lodge, it was a lovely week away

Beautiful clean lodge in a great setting so peaceful Good location to explore the area loved it
We had an amazing week staying at Oak Lodge as a family of 4 over Easter. Our first holiday in 3 years! The accommodation is perfect. Every attention to detail has been thought of, from logs ready to go on the wood burner to the perfectly maintained hot tub even a welcome treat on our arrival! There is a charcoal BBQ available, outdoor table & seating and lounger seats plus a garden area to enjoy with lovely views. Luckily the weather allowed us to make use of this! The hot tub is a real gem and made the whole week very special and relaxing. It was cleaned every morning by the team. The interesting noises from the local Zoo were a highlight. The grounds are kept well by someone who clearly takes pride in his work. All the facilities included inside such at TVs, plenty of sockets, a fully fitted kitchen with everything you could want and the wonderful shower facilities its just like a home from home. All the beds are super comfortable as well which makes a nice change! The location is excellent with beaches, walks, pubs & restaurants and Dunster Castle 1015 minutes away. The owners Lloyd and Lynn have done a brilliant job making our stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible and were always on hand to help, if necessary, with suggestions of where to go and what to do. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will definitely be back! Thank you very much, this was exactly what we needed as a family.

What a wonderful week we had. The area is lovely very pretty countryside. The lodge is far better than described. It's in the far corner of the park, with a huge garden to itself and feels very private. It was all immaculate and even included that holy grail of holiday home items a cafetiere.

We had a fantastic week staying in Oak lodge, very comfortable beds & sofas, ... We had a fantastic week staying in Oak lodge, very comfortable beds & sofas, the lodge is in a very private area with no other passing residents, the hot tub was great which we used most evenings, a great location for the hills of Exmoor & the Quantocks with all the lovely nearby beaches & amazing coastline, we stayed on a very hot week so could have done with a fan in each bedroom, plus the washing line could be moved from under the tree as the birds can mess on the clean washing but not enough of a negative to change my rating, we would love to return as a week wasnt quite long enough
We had a lovely week at Oak Lodge, it was clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was wonderful to come back to the hot tub after a day trip with the children very relaxing!
We had a wonderful stay, the lodge is lovely and qaint and traditional. Would be nice if some daily consumables were a little more available like dishwasher tablets, bin bags, coffee etc. As it introduces hassle as soon as you get there. Everything else was great and we had a nice peaceful stay in the countryside.
Nice clean lodge in a quiet position with everything you need would go again
Lovely lodge with great hot tub. Had a really relaxing family break in a good location. Strange that Sykes don't mention the other properties that are also on site. Only minor thing would've been good to have a better frying pan but otherwise facilities were great & think we had a more secluded spot with our lodge.
Graham
Absolutely fantastic had everything we wanted, perfectly maintained, great views, great location. Well be back soon for sure!!
Great stay!

The holiday cottage was a peaceful place to stay, the furniture in the lodge was of exceptional quality, the beds were so comfy. The cleanliness of the lodge was superb. Loved waking up to the chorus of animals at Tropiquaria Wildlife Park. The only slight negative within the whole stay was that the WiFi speed was really slow.
Richard
We had a lovely time at Oak Lodge. The premises are as listed and cosy. We loved the log burning stove and the view from the lodge and its well positioned near the coast road for easy access to lots of amenities along the somerset and north devon coast including Exmoor without the road being a nusiance. The hot tub was provate and large enough to easily fit 4 people and more importantly was cleaned every day while the kids loved having TVs in the bedrooms. We had an issue while we were there due to adverse weather conditions resulting from Storm Gladys which wasn't to do with lodge accomodation and the owners helped quickly resolve this within a few minutes of letting them know of the issue. We would recommed this location to others considering statying here

This was the first time we had used Sykes Cottages and it certainly wont be the last. This was a fabulous Lodge with literally everything you could ask for, not just equipment wise, but also cleanliness, peace, quiet and accessibility. Thank you to everyone who is responsible for making sure this is the best possible quality holiday its clearly working! Great communications too both ahead, during and post holiday.
Booked this holiday wanting a cosy, secluded and peaceful break, and its exactly what we got! Couldnt fault the stay at all. The lodge was immaculate and had everything we needed, and we used the hottub to wind down every evening. The location was ideal with the coast so close with walks, bike rides and a pub five minutes away. Would highly recommend and we cant wait to book again!
Great place to relax and recharge the batteries. The place was peaceful and facilities amazing.
A stunning exceptional lodge to explore the North DevonSomerset coast line. Such a comfortable range of sofas with a very easy to use log burner. The beds were very comfortable with gorgeous cotton linen. A TV in every room if needed! Very spacious and extremely clean. The hot tub was the icing on the cake! Well maintained daily with magnificent views across the fields. A beautiful small private site. Just what we needed after the previous year of doom and gloom. We will definitely be back! Thank you Lloyd for being at the end of the phone if needed.
Amanda
The Lodge was a perfect getaway. Beautiful location. Lots to visit and see. Would definitely recommend and book again.
Charlotte
Perfect cabin location for us tucked away and generally not overlooked. Staff were very friendly and maintained the hot tub on a daily basis. Excellent base to explore the local Somerset and North Devon area
What a lovely lodge this is with modern facilities and extreme comfort especially the beds! with the added luxury of a fantastic hot tub on the decked area. Could not fault the cleanliness and wasnt expecting the hot tub to be cleaned every day which was an added bonus. Good location for exploring the surrounding area either coastal or deeper into Exmoor. Would highly recommend.
Stephen
Oak cottage was exactly as imagined and in a great location would stay again.
Amanda
This is a really comfortable well equipped lodge. Very relaxing as it has its own hot tub and seating area. This made a great base for us. We have been to Somerset before so knew the area and and it was nice to come back. We would certainly recommend staying here as you couldnt fault it.
Exceptionally clean, exactly as it was advertised if not better, and a great location for all we wanted to do!
Our family enjoyed a week at Oak Lodge and we were not disappointed. The lodge was immaculate upon arrival and we had everything we needed for our stay. We had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed use of the hot tub. It was very peaceful and we can only imagine how cosy it would be in the Winter months with the log fire burning. We would definitely recommend Shells Cottages to our family our friends and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you for making our holiday one to remember!
We came here for our mini moon after 18 months of planning a wedding. We wanted somewhere near the coast, with a hut tub and a fireplace. It was perfect driving distance from Minehead and there were loads of activities to keep us busy nearby Dunster Castle and a Steam Train going trough the country side. We will definitely be back with friends. Lloyd was very attentive too and was easily Contactable. The Gardens were well kept every day. This is a beautiful hidden gem.
Sylvia
The Oak Lodge was lovley set in beautiful surroundings, very clean and comfortable, the hot tub was very relaxing after a busy day. The owner and lady were very welcoming and helpful. Our son is disabled with MS and every effort was made to help him cope with extra equipment in the wet room. We will certainly try to make a return journey.
Valerie
Oak Lodge was ideal for us as one of our guests has mobility problems and the single storey layout and the wet room were needed. The parking for the lodge is level and right outside the front door. The lodge has been beautifully designed and built by the owners and was warm, inviting and very comfortable with lovely open views from the lounge area. Unfortunately the cold, wet week in 'flaming' June deterred us from enjoying the seating areas outside and even the hot tub could not tempt us. The approachable owner lives on site and was ever helpful.
