Very fun place to stay. Could do with a refresh in some bedrooms and recommend bringing a pillow. The hot tubs, lounge and bar area were great. We enjoyed the place overall and its in a great location. 2mins walk to shops/ cafes/ pubs. Good value for money.

The house is beautiful. The views from the windows are stunning. The location is so great as its near the town and theres loads of walks/hikes you can go around there. Just what we needed in a fabulous part of the country! Matlock is charming! Well equipped, comfy and loads of space. A touch tied in places but extremely comfortable.

A fabulous location for a large gathering of family/friends. The main sitting room has wonderful views and is very comfortable, the ability to spill out into the garden was also much appreciated. The location is ideal with so much nearby for guests to do.

32 of us aged 90 to 6 months stayed at The Temple for a week after Easter. The Temple was a fabulous place for a birthday celebration with 30 family & friends. Everyone had their own room and ensuite and the communal spaces were great - big enough for us all to get together. Our grandsons loved playing barman behind the bars in the main lounge and downstairs in the pub! We had a couple of sit-down meals in the dining roomRead more, which is huge. We made good use of the hot tubs, which were hot and ready to use when we arrived. Thoroughly recommend! Hide

Wonderful house in a prominent gorgeous location. There were a few minor issues with the hot tub, karaoke machine, microwave oven and water temperature. But on the whole the house met our needs, was in a stunning location and everyone (29 of us) enjoyed our stay. Lots of space so it didn't feel cramped at all.
Amanda
This property is in a fantastic location and very handy for the Peak District. The property itself is lovely, the lounge and garden have fabulous views and the kitchen is well equipped. Sadly, there were a few issues and reading previous reviews, these were not the first; the shower pressure / heat is not consistent and in some rooms non-existent. Overall the house was great for our family stay. Spacious living areas and good facilities. Great location, just a few minute walk from bars and restaurants. Positives - beautiful views, handy for Matlock Bath centre and peak district, bedrooms warm and comfortable, worked well as a social space on the first floor as a wedding venue (kitchen, large dining room, large lounge area), house catered well for very broad age mix (2 year old to 86 year old). Negatives- kitchen equipment (not enough of some cutlRead moreery, pans sublime to ridiculous in size, gas ovens slow as leaked heat, icemakers broken, toasters faulty). We were a large family group of 28, aged from 2 weeks to 90 years. The property and facilities were amazing for our weekend stay. Great place for a large gathering, good location and great party house especially redundant bar area.

Fab location! BBQs were filthy Hot tubs- head rest missing, filter was floating out, pieces broke off, very poor state. Beds- mattresses very uncomfortable, the twins not zipped together, room 3 extremely low. Chairs- bedroom chairs very unsafe, garden black chairs are fit for the skip, Kitchen- cooking utensils/pans need replaying old & well used, poor ventilation resulting in the fire alarm going off. Room 2 - hols in the flooring you can see into the bar. Trampoline not safe

Property and location and amenities are top notch. We had an amazing time We had a big group with quite a few children and there was so much to do from hot tubs, to pool table and karaoke machine to the large kitchen with appliances and 2 bbqs it was more than we couldve asked for. The location and the view are amazing!! Great holiday

Great weekend. Thank you
Dorothy
Wonderful weekend with a full house of family and friends for my "80th" birthday. Everything we needed in the property, plus wonderful views, lovely walks and amenities close by. Can recommend the Fish Pond inn at the bottom of the hill, great food.
Neil
Fantastic place and plenty of space. Would recommend for large gatherings
Alison
We had a great Christmas week, with twenty-seven of us the house worked perfectly. The place was spotlessly clean, with great ensuite bedrooms and communal areas. The two hot tubs were a real bonus. Would stay again and not hesitate to recommend it.
Kay
Just returned from a 3 night stay at The Temple. We were a party of 34 ranging in ages from 3 months to 70+. We could not have asked for more. The location is excellent, the view from the garden and living room was beautiful. We had a ball and made the most of the hot tubs, our own pub and bar in the living room. The bedrooms were comfortable, en s uite facilities excellent. Everything was clean, kitchen well stocked, couldn't ask for more. KCan highly recommend.
Louise
An amazing property in a great location. We were a group of 34 including adults, teens and younger kids. Each room having its own en-suite is a real bonus and the fact some of the rooms have king beds that can be made up into singles was great for our party. It really is the perfect place for a group get together. We did a pub quiz in the pub and d anced the night away in the bar upstairs. The kids loved the pool/table tennis table and everyone enjoyed the hot tubs.
Dawn
A fantastic place for a big family and friends get together. Loads of social spaces and all rooms had great en suite bathrooms. Nice not to be in the middle of nowhere (which is normally the case when your hire big houses). Great for all the family, I think reasonable price
Zabihullah
the rooms and toilets were full of spider webs and the pool is broken and the sofas needs cleaning because they smiled very bad.
Tessa
Location was fabulous with wonderful views. The bar areas and hot tubs were superb and a great addition for a party. However as others have said the whole house is looking really worn and tired with repairs needed, two toilets in the rooms were literally falling off the walls, and another constantly running water making it impossible to flush. Pots and pans need replacing. It's not luxury, but it is an excellent venue for a large family party, with all facilities needed for a super stay.
carl
Stayed here for a week with family. Had a great time! The bar downstairs had plenty of space for us all to get together and was well stocked with pint glasses, and another bar upstairs had plenty of other glasses available to use. The kitchen had everything we needed and pots and pans big enough to cater for such a large group. Overall great stay a nd would recommend for big families!
Neil
We had a lovely weekend. I read the reviews and understand some of the comments about the place being a bit tired, and sooner or later it will need a lick of paint. The furniture is generally a bit too rustic for a grand house of this type, so a bit out of place, but it didn't really detract from our visit. The one negative would be the smell comin g from the toilets in the bar. The location is great, as are the views and the garden, I would come back.
Ian
There were some minor issues with the property but nearly 30 family members had a wonderful time in a super property with absolutely stunning views
Heather
An amazing place, with facilities that worked for everyone. We had a fabulous few days and would definitely stay again.
Karen
We had a fun family gathering but the house and furnishings really are very tired looking. There were a few things not working and it feels very much like the house is aimed at stag parties with hundreds of beer glasses and only a mishmash of other glassware available. The bar downstairs was too cold to use and there was no glassware in it. The soci al areas are good for big groups. The big kitchen has no windows nor extraction. The location is good with easy access to all the town has to offer..
Liz
28 of us had a fantastic college reunion in this extremely comfortable and relaxing house.
Maureen
Fabulous house in a great location, well equipped. Loved the downstairs bar. All bedrooms/bathrooms really comfortable. We had a fantastic pre Christmas get together, there was even a lovely Christmas tree. Would definitely recommend for a large group. 10 out of 10
Alison
My family and I visited this property for 4 nights, it is a great space for a large family gathering, and although some of the furniture was tired it do not spoil our visit, we enjoyed the bar area next to the lounge mainly as the pub area below was very cold. Every where was very clean and well equipped and the location was great with amazing view s of Matlock, A perfect place to party with friends and family.
Melissa
This house is absolutely amazing! It has everything you could wish for a more! We should have had our Hen party in Tenerife and due to COVID kept getting cancelled- so glad it did as we had a great time! Suited all guest ages from ones wanting to relax to ones wanting to party in the pub! You will not regret going and already looking for someone el se to get married to go again lol
Christine
We were a party of 16 and had a lovely time in this beautiful property. The owner and property contacts were really helpful with any issues or queries.
Elizabeth
What a place! Our first family holiday in years! The space for our big family was priceless. To be able to sit at one table for a meal, amazing! The small touches such as the heating on for arrival, the hot tubs warm for arrival. Housekeeping trolley, really helpful.3 dishwashers! Our first family holiday where all of us were able to stay in one prop erty has been something well always remember. The views at the top of the hill were beautiful. Plenty to do in the village of Matlock. Well be back!!
