Yew Lodge Reviews

This was our third visit to Rutland luxury lodges, and our second stay in Yew lodge. Very relaxing stay. The lodge has everything that you need. Very spacious bedrooms and plenty of room for a travel cot if you are visiting with a little one. Huge well kept garden. Inside the lodge the flooring is in need of updating but this didn't effect our stay at all. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing break this is the place to go!
This lodge was definitely not a 5 more like 3. The mirrors were rusting tiles in bathroom cracked and in need of regrouting the floors were worn cracked and lifting in places the hot tub wasn't very bubbly and washing machine broke down. We cannot fault the guy who came to help but washing machine was beyond fixing and hot tub still didn't really bubble it was more like a ripple. All in all dissatisfied with what I thought was going to be a bit of luxury for my special birthday. I

This was our second stay at Rutland luxury lodges. Fantastic time as always. Staff are so friendly and couldn't do more for you! We had a small issue with the door to the garden not locking properly and someone from maintenance came out straight away and fixed it with no problem. Spacious clean and have everything you need. Our garden was fairly large which was great as we had 2 children with us. Looking forward to our next stay!
The stay was very relaxing . my daughter is special needs and she loved it . hot tub lids are very heavy to put on if your on you own . outside of lodge grass could have done with a cut before my arrival weeds inbetween flag stones not a good look plus a lot of cobwebs outside on lodge things that only take 10mins ..... inside was very clean lovely welcome pack . overall we will come again as very peacefully. thank you .
The lodge is so well kept, clean and well supplied. Lovely welcome pack. The staff are cheerful, friendly and efficient. The site is quiet and well maintained with attractive shrubbery and hedging. Its a great place to stay. Lots to do in the surroundings too. Although surrounded by fields its close to some lovely villages and not far from the A1 for trips further afield.
The property was fantastic and we enjoyed our stay so much. A thoroughly relaxing break. Such a great setting with brilliant touches like the welcome pack!
Michela
Beautiful lodge with fabulous facilities and great attention to detail with lovely fluffy robes, toiletries and games, cds and DVD's. The welcome pack is such a treat with the Prosecco, chocolates, etc. Swimming pool just a stroll from the lodges too. Really comfortable beds and such a quiet location. Ideally situated to explore the surrounding area. The local pub is just a short walk away with good food. The breakfast in the onsite cafe was so good! This was our second visit with friends, had previously stayed in a larger lodge and will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommend staying here, thank you for a lovely relaxing stay.

Absolutely gorgeous, loved the little touches and location was lovely, I really enjoyed the quality time with the family that the lodge provided and cabin and facilities was ace.
Very clean and well decorated. Minimal commodities available in the house for a few days off. The jacuzzi and sauna were a must.
The lodge itself was fantastic. Very hot so we had to go round and turn off heating. A couple of lightbulbs out but we forgot to pass that on. Very well supplied and the welcome pack was great. We bought food from the on site cafe and that was also lovely. Hot tub was good. Didnt try the sauna because it smelt a bit odd inside. Thirty minute bookings for the pool arent really enough but given its size v the number of guests, I cant think of an alternative. My issue is the industrial work next door. Had the wind been in a different direction we would have been totally smoked out. There was very loud machinery noise early one morning.
Sabrina
Loved it. Lovely spot. Heavily pregnant and just what me and the family needed Thank you so much for our welcome pack. Felt very touched.
We had an absolutely fantastic time at Yew Lodge, couldn't have been happier with the facilities and cleanliness. The lodge was beautifully decorated and presented, the underfloor heating was a delight. The hottub and sauna were fantastic and the perfect recipe for a relaxing weekend. There was a welcome pack in the lodge that included a bottle of Prosecco, chocolates and box of fresh eggs which was a lovely surprise. We didn't want to leave and honestly can't wait to visit here again.
We were very impressed with the lodge. Lovely and clean, very nice touches with the robes, toiletries and welcome pack. We would've given five stars but unfortunately on our last night we had the awful experience of being smoked out from the bonfire on the adjacent farm. This went on from around 7pm until 2am. We could not use the hot tub or sauna. The smog and smell was awful. We couldn't open any windows or doors due to the smoke. I did report this to the wardens who said they would pass our issues on. We would book again but it would be a lodge further from the farm entrance where the bonfires are.

We had an amazing stay at Yew lodge, everything you would need it was literally a home away from home. . Hottub a delight and the cabin its self so cosy. 5 We will be booking again in future.. Thank you
Wonderful weekend at Yew Lodge with my wife and two sons aged 10 and 14. Welcome package on arrival with Prosecco, Chocolates, Eggs etc. Hot Tub and Sauna both great with robes provided. We used the private pool which is right opposite so could just wander over in robes. We had a lovely relaxing time, in and out of the Hot Tub, board games monopoly provided!, drinks and food. Hoping to return late next year. Small selection of goods to buy in reception food, drinks, ice cream etc. Small cafe that we didn't use but looks nice. Short walk into the village which has a lovely pub called The Plough which had a small shop attached. The pub and the meal was excellent and the shop was handy for grabbing some milk and butter etc.
This was our second time there! as usual, beautiful place, with lovely people. We came at a different season though summer. that is probably why we spent most of our time fighting flies than actually enjoying the time there. A few issues were resolved quickly, which we appreciated . We got to try the 30 min private swim it was lovely family time, so thank you for the experience
Florence
Great place quiet and so relaxing
We had such a good time here, quiet, private and beautifully clean. We will be back ASAP for sure!
Lovely, spacious, well run accommodation. Such friendly and helpful staff on site. Enjoyed being able to stroll through the woodland paths and down to the pretty village.
Fabulous, luxury lodge. ...............very spacious and well equipped with everything that you could need. All fittings and equipment to the highest standard and the hot tub and sauna were wonderful! The welcome Prosecco and provisions were a lovely touch..............really 5 accommodation!
Ruth and Paul was fantastic hosts the lodges had everything you needed for ... Ruth and Paul was fantastic hosts the lodges had everything you needed for your stay they even included a welcome pack which is a lovely gesture I would definitely recommend and will return in the future
Fantastic weekend away! Very clean and comfy beds. Lovely welcome pack and everything you need just to relax.

We had a great stay at Yew Lodge! Exceeded expectations. Super spacious, comfortable bed, well stocked kitchen with lovely welcome package, great hot tub and the swimming pool is an added bonus. We would definitely stay again. We hadn't been to Rutland before and we just loved it.
Thank you for a lovely holiday. We really enjoyed our stay at Yew lodge and the surrounding area had lots to see and do.
The lodge is very comfortable and the welcome pack was really nice. Lots of large towels were provided which was really nice. Great supply of instant hot water. It was not possible to connect to internet which was disappointing. Our only complaint is that the lighting in the living area was poor and not good enough for reading on an evening. We enjoyed the privacy of the garden area which had table, chairs, recliners, hot tub and sauna. We did not try the sauna as the weather was so hot. A really nice stay. We would recommend this lodge to others.
Charlotte
Wonderful week at Yew Lodge, our third visit. Spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean accommodation. We loved the private garden with hot tub and sauna. Beautiful landscaped gardens and parking right outside our lodge.
Stephen
The lodge was comfortable, spacious, private and very quiet. The location was less than 10 mins walk in to Gretham, which has 2 lovely pubsrestaurants and 10 mins drive from Oakham and Stamford
The lodge was a modern very comfortable place and we had a great time. There were some issues though, in the beginning, One of the sinks wouldn't hold water, the supplied iron didn't work and the big thing was the freezer wasn't working. We only found this out after we'd been for a shop and filled it, only to find the next day it had all defrosted. The owners resolved all the issues fairly quickly but was frustrated at losing some food. Also, the internet was very sketchy to non existent. However that said, it was a lovely lodge and we had a great time, very comfortable, roomy and the hot tube and sauna were great. Non of the above things had any impact on the holiday and we would be glad to return anytime.
The lodge was very clean and homely. We have never had such a great welcome pack and our own exclusive garden. You felt secure as there was an electric gate for entering and departing and secured between 11.00pm and 7.30am I would certainly recommend these lodges to family and friends.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were immaculate. The lodge was quiet with a lovely grassy garden containing the hot tub and barrel sauna. There is a nice countryside footpath from the site to the attractive local village where there is a post office with a little store and more than one pub serving food. Lots to do in the area. We had a lovely relaxing holiday.
Shailen
Great for a little break away. Everything is clean and the facilities there are exactly what you need. Only downside is that I couldnt connect to the internet. However, it wasnt a problem for us but it may be to other people.
Had a fantastic birthday stay in Yew Lodge comfy bed with luxary bedding so cosy ... Had a fantastic birthday stay in Yew Lodge comfy bed with luxary bedding so cosy the garden with fab hot tub is so private and enjoyed the sauna too the coffee machine was a nice surprise too,we were greeted with a warm covid safe welcome the local pubs were a short walk away the Plough served amazing food and drink and were really friendly so were the locals too lovely village to stay lots of great walks ,rutland water was great boat trip really good too Oakham nice place to visit too Defo recommend
Wi if was not available in lodge or in the garden. You can only access wi fi if you sit under a mast on the camping site which is not practical. Even then it was so weak and we were to log on then go back to lodge and all would be good. No it was not! Wi fi may not be important to some whilst on holiday but it most certainly was required by us, that was taken into account when we made our choice. It did say we could get wi fi. Unless owner is going to put wi fi into lodges they should Not say it there. It spoilt our stay. Now I do not trust Sykes holidays to give me the correct information which they should have checked.

We were extremely excited for a relaxing getaway and instead were faced with the absence of basic necessities such as central heating and hot water, the staff seemed to be very relaxed about this issue and it took 2 days for us to even get this issue fixed. This meant that for the majority of our stay we were cold and couldnt take many showers due to the absence of hot water. The electricity also seemed to be temperamental and went off and on constantly throughout the night, once again the staff took no immediate action to solve this when asked for help with the WiFi the reception responded by saying that they were unsure on how it works. When we were checking out we hoped to receive some compensation or even an apology for all the difficulties that we had faced however we did not receive any of this, we even asked to give feedback and the lady at reception was rather cold and said that we should use trip advisor if we had any complaints. Overall it was a stressful visit, where we had to supervise electricians and plumbers which was extremely unsettling due to COVID.
Rebecca
Quiet , comfortable and relaxing stay. Hot tub and sauna a real bonus. Flat and private garden. Children's play area was open, and another play area by the community centre. Comfortable bed, good shower and well equipped lodge. Welcome pack was lovely, the eggs were especially good. Fresh bread can be ordered from reception. Days out to Rutland Water, Oakham, Stamford, Fineshade Woods and Barnsdale gardens. Easy walk to village, 2 pubs and a shop. Ate in both pubs and would recommend them. Some details missing from website which would have been handy to know dressing gowns, washing up liquid and sponge, iron and board and hair dryer all provided. We also had to pay to hire the pool 16 other reviews said it was free. Would benefit from black out lining in bedrooms and better clothes airer and pegs to avoid over reliance on tumble dryer. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, came back feeling relaxed. In this climate especially we felt safe and protected.

One thing that wasn't very good was the Wi fi. We had issues with having it on our mobiles and some of the TV stations wouldn't work as said no signal.
The lodge was beautifully set out. .everything was super clean and the kitchen well equipped..the outside area was totally private..hot tub amazing..!! Staff were very friendly and helpful..its situated perfectly for Rutland waters or Stamford or Oakham.. I would recommend and hopefully return soon.
Patricia
We had the most brilliant time at the cottage. Spotlessly clean, smelt nice and first impressions had the wow factor. It was so nice not to have to worry about bringing towels, loo roll, etc. Its all the little things that someone has done that makes a good holiday. Even surprised to see a welcome pack. Which I have to say a big thank you for. Would highly recommend your service and we will be booking again in the very near future.
Kirsty
Unfortunately this was not a great week end, firstly the heating wasn't on was told it would warm up, it never did had to get them to look at it, on Saturday night we kept getting power cuts and they were off for about 45 minutes each time, first time we were mid eating our meal so had to finish in torch light, and it then happened again whilst we were in the hot tub so that quickly started getting cold, sent a text to the site asking for candles as it was pitch black never received a reply, when i spoke to them Sunday morning asking why we hadn't had a contact they told me there were too busy trying to sort, i understand that to a degree but there is only about 6 lodges and a knock on the door just to say what was happening im sure would have made everyone a little happier, i know there was a lot of caravans on the site and to go round them would have took time but must vans can run off batteries for a short time we only had a torch, not very good at customer communications. Got an apology when said my grievances but too little too late. the site and area was lovely and would like to go back but my head is saying no as i am still not happy
