Kipling Lodge Reviews

Caroline
Very clean and tidy, well stocked and a lovely bottle of wine as a welcome. Totally dog friendly with a secure garden with a variety of wildlife to watch. Location was excellent, five minutes walk to the lake rudyard and a fantastic pub also situated there. Recommend the Sunday carvery. Had a lovely stay at kipling lodge and a bonus was the hot tub, which was perfect after a day's walking.
Beautiful location, lovely and clean, perfect for dogs Thanks Helen
Amazing accommodation, I can not recommend this accommodation enough you won't be disappointed. Everything you need for self catering, comfortable beds and hot tub just is the icing on the cake that is cleaned and maintained each day. Guys that own lodge are amazing, friendly, welcoming and helpful when needed. This is the only accommodation we have booked that is exactly as described and pictured
Madeline
Had a lovely stay in Kipling lodge. Everything was just perfect L
The owners were very helpful, everything what you would need is provided, pots, pans, plates, dishes, glasses, fully functional kitchen, even washing up liquid and the dishwasher was a great bonus. Really good seating and dining area, 2 bedrooms with double beds, 1 with on suite bathroom, another room with bunk beds. Literally the only thing you need to take is food and toiletries. Theres an Asds a 10 minuye drive away in Leek, petrol station on the way and Rudyard Lake is less than a 5 minuye Drive away.Hot tub is always on and at temperature and was checked daily by Matt. Own private garden at the back with a shared field, even the dog loved it. Would definitely stay again.
Natalie
We had a lovely stay at Kipling lodge. The lodge was super clean and well presented, very comfy with lots of little extras and amenities which were appreciated, simple things like hand soap at every sink, washing up liquid, salt and oil being very handy on the first night. The lodge is in a lovely location, quiet and rural, positioned near Rudyard lake which is a lovely walk to take. The hot tub was great and thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. The garden was a good size for our 2 big dogs and felt safe and secure. The open garden next to the lodge, was also handy to allow our dogs the freedom to run and chase a ball. Matthew the host was very helpful and friendly and was great at communication leading up to and during the stay. Thankyou for a lovely stay
Brilliant property and location. We would love to visit again
Debbie
We have just been to Kipling Lodge to spend Christmas and its been fantastic. The lodge had Christmas tree, decorations etc and we manage to cook a full Christmas dinner with everything in the kitchen. The lodge is comfy and clean and we loved our walks around Rudyard Lake. We have now booked for NY next year as we loved it so much.
Sharon
We had a lovely week stay at Kipling Lodge with our 2 dogs. Enclosed garden for the dogs, who loved being on squirrel patrol
Teresa
Kipling lodge was clean, tidy and comfortable. The hot tub was huge and well maintained. The beds were comfy. No expense was spared on the heating of the lodge, its a nest system so I suppose you could let Matt know if its too hot or cold. Smashing walks straight from the lodge door. Our dogs enjoyed themselves in the enclosed garden and exercise field not to mention the lake circular walk. This was our second time in the lodges here, 1st at Kipling lodge. We would definitely return.
The lodge was perfect for us. It had everything one would need to enjoy a lovely holiday. We will be going back.
We had a lovely week thank you. Thanks for booking the sunshine. The enclosed garden in addition to the extra grassed area was great for the dog. Beautiful shaded walks in the area including round Rudyard Lake which has rowing boats for hire or pay a launch fee for your own craft or SUP. Lovely big hot tub and despite a previous review, there was an oven glove. The washing machine meant little washing to take home. The BBQ was great to use as a stand for our disposable tray. Things we missed from past cottage experience was a hairdryer we would have taken our own but assumed there would be one, a pint of milk but we could have taken some if it had been noted that there was no welcome pack. Mark & Matthew were very helpful.
Fabulous lodge with everything you need and lots of parking which is great when family arrive separately from different directions. Secure garden area for our dog was a real bonus. Great location with easy access to the Lake and the water sports but also for exploring the Peak District. Matt, our host, was really lovely and made us very welcome. We had such a wonderful holiday here and will definitely be back! Thank you
Beautiful lodge, best we have stayed in, had everything you need for a self catering break. Stunning location and the enclosed garden was great for our whippet, although the squirrels tormented him daily. Hot tub was much appreciated after a stressful few weeks at work, very relaxing. Loved the easily accessible walks and views from the lake walk are incredible. Highly recommend Primo Piano in Leek for a meal out something for everyone on the menu and one of the best Italian restaurants Ive eaten at. Must give a mention to the bar staff at the Rudyard hotel who are very welcoming. All in all a great location, great lodge and I wish i were still there! Well be back.
This is our second visit. A lovely lodge with such a nice view.Very comfortable and great hot tub
We had a fabulous family break for new year great location close to the rudyard hotel and lake for the walks. The lodges hot tub was fab and the covered outdoor area was great for dining outside . The kitchen was very well stocked .Matt the host was a really nice guy going on the telephone conversation we had. We would definitely recommend a stay here. June
Excellent lodge, very cozy, the underfloor heating was brilliant, didnt need the radiators even though the outside temperature plummeted drastically. The hot tub was fantastic. The beds were comfy, tv perfect. The only issue that we had was the fact that the parking area for the cars froze and we couldnt move the cars as it is on an incline, maybe have a bag of salt stored somewhere for customers to use as everyone seemed to know this would happen except us of course, However, minor detail. We had a great time
We really enjoyed our stay at Kipling Lodge,. It is a beautiful lodge with great attention to detail. It is in such a lovely place with lots of nice walks. We enjoyed it so much so we have already re booked.
Graham
Wow Beautiful Lodge with everything you could need provided, even a cocktail shaker. Wifi excellent so able to share our experience immediately with friends & family. Bedsmattresses perfect, a good night's sleep had by all. Location stunning. Having taken 2 dogs the private garden was great but also the huge communal area was excellent. Easy walk to the local Hotel for a meal and a few beverages. On the hotel... a bit of a refurb needed, especially in gents toilets. All in all a fantastic weekend had. Will be our 1st choice for a mini break next time we feel the urge. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
We had a fantastic time in the kipling Lodge. The facilities were very good. The host Matt was friendly and helpful. Where was plenty to do around the area. The dogs also loved it. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay.
Nicholas
Excellent facility, met all expectations.
William
This was a perfect property for us, we'll situated, well equipped and very comfortable. Only 2 minor negatives saucepans and frying pans not the best and also there is no bread knife and unable to recycle due to bin being full.Would this stop us going again or giving kipping lodge 1010 absolutely not. Fantastic place to stay great hot tub well looked after And the owners were productive and contactable. All round great place.
Christopher
Very well equipped lodge. Very pleasant stay. Bedroom with bunk beds small .
Catherine
Lovely and clean Excellent position next to the lake Children loved the hot tub
Matthew
Excellent. Will definitely be coming back! !
Amanda
We had a lovely stay at this beautiful dog friendly lodge. It is important for us to know that the garden is secure and it was. There are lovely walks nearby especially around the lake and the hotel is a five minute walk. We would love to come back sometime soon
A really lovely, clean, dogfriendly lodge. Excellent covered enclosed balcony with hot tub and tablechairs. Garden area really good for our dog 7 month old border collie and field beyond even better! There is a stile at the bottom of the field that leads straight to the path round Rudyard Lake. Really good, dogfriendly pub within easy walking distance and lovely walksminiature train ride for us and the dog. We will definitely be back. Sykes Cottages state there is a shop on site, which there isn't and check out is 9am, not 10am, which slightly caught us out. Other than that, a perfect mini break for our family.
Andrew
The property was lovely, we very much enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect with plenty of dog walks nearby and the local pub for afternoon drinks.
Had a wonderful stay here, only difficulty was finding the location originally sat nav does not take you there. Could do eith better signage.

Excellent stay at Kipling Lodge will certainly be recommending this listing.
Beautiful lodge and hot tub just amazing. Lovely little walks nearby and great food at Rudyard Hotel and dog friendly.
Pamela
Wonderful lodge, clean comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful walks, especially around the lake and a welcoming hot tub after a long days walk .
Lovely accommodation very well equipped in a beautiful quiet location with ... Lovely accommodation very well equipped in a beautiful quiet location with amazing wild life around you qe had squirrels eating from our balcony & many birds coming to eat the bread Would definitely recommend & no doubt in the Sumner it be stunning

The cabin was one of the best we have stayed in! It was a lovely set up, the hot tub covering is great for rainy days and lovely and clean and spacious and actually maintains heat! The cabin was well equopped and evwn had your basic necessities such as handwash, washing up liquid, kitchen roll, spare toilet rolls and more. The fridge freezer and good size. Albeit the wifi wasnt the best which after speaking to the lovely owners who were attending to the hot tub, is due to location and the phone company but it was still usable. The tv had access to netfix, prime, sky and disney plus so we xould access these with our accounts anyway. Overall, it was one of the nicest cabins to stay in and would certainly return. Thank you.
Carina
Without doubt the most well equipped self catering accommodation we have ever stayed at. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the cabin is wonderful, youve thought of everything! Thank you
Sharon
Lovely lodge, comfortable beds and very clean throughout. Hot tub was ready and hot for our arrival and the fairy lights around the outside area are a really lovely touch. Knives need a little sharpen but everything else was perfect.
Philip
The photos didnt do justice to how lovely this lodge was. The lodge had everything we needed for a pleasant stay and was very comfortable. Its a great location off Rudyard Lake, and is very private with huge, well maintained hot tub and veranda with underfloor heating. High recommended.
Amazing stay at Kipling Lodge, the lodge itself was clean, fresh and beautiful views. All the appliances in the lodge were very high standard and the hot tub was fantastic. The only little issue is if you have little children like ours 3 years old they can easily unlock the doors and escape. A bolt or something similar at the top of the door would have made us worry less.

Alton Towers - ST10 4DB
about 12 Miles
Of course you can't mention attractions in Staffordshire without featuring the fabulous Alton Towers theme park.  The rides range from thrilling to quite simply terrifying although there are more gentle family rides for the little ones.  All ages are catered for here.  Some of the most famoue rides include Th13teen, Air, The Blade and Nemesis.  There is also a waterpark on site for some splashtastic fun. Look out for seasonal events taking place throughout the year such as Wonderful Winter, Pirate Weekend and The Ultimate Fireworks Event.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and save money by booking your tickets online.
Peak District National Park -
about 18 Miles
The Peak District National Park is the ideal place to relax and explore.  The stunning scenery will take your breath away and there is the opportunity to take part in ranger led guides and events.  These are ideal if you are new to the area or only staying a short time and want to see the best sights and walks.
British Wildlife Rescue Centre - TN8 7AR
about 19 Miles
This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre.  The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild.  Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA.  Visit their website to see the picture gallery and to find out how to help if this is something which interests you.  There are also regular fundraising events such as the Sponsered Leg Wax.
Gullivers Kingdom - DE4 3NT
about 21 Miles
This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.
Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT
about 21 Miles
This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.
Gulliver's Kingdome - WA5 9YZ
about 21 Miles
Gulliver's Kingdome is a family friendly theme park offering many attractions for children of all ages. The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. For the little ones there are rides such as the veteran cars and the balloon wheel and Diego and Dora the Explorer are on hand to make sure they are having a great time. Between the 21st and 31st of October the park becomes a spooky Halloween spectacular with a range of shows and fireworks to enjoy. Standard prices are £12.00 for adults and children over 90cm. Group booking discounts are available.
Go Ape Cheshire - WA16 6RW
about 25 Miles
Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
Denby Visitor Centre - DE5 8NX
about 28 Miles
Denby visitor centre is a fun day out in the Derbyshire region with an array of activities iunder one roof.  An all weather attraction you can take pottery tours, see cookery demonstrations and visit Bourne's restaurant.  There are events and offers on throughout the year for example the Denby factory Shops sale where you can save £££s and October Creepy Crypt for Halloween where you can go along in fancy dress and have your face painted.  Booking is advised so check out the latest details on their website.
Gulliver's World Theme Park - WA5 9YZ
about 29 Miles
This is a very popular theme park with three different locations.  The theme park in Warrington contains not only the theme park but also Gullivers Splash Zone and Gullivers Star Studios.  The Solash Zone is a fully heated indoor water play factory fun for all ages which will appeal on rainy days.  Throughout the year there are seasonal events too such as the Halloween and Fireworks event taking place from 23rd to 31st October.  You can book online to save time and secure your tickets during busy periods.  Over 50% of the rides are actually under cover so you don't need to worry about the British weather spoiling the fun.
