When you are ready to turn in, make your way over to the double bed for a superb night’s sleep. Sit out in the sunshine of your private outside space whenever possible.

Soak up the glorious scenery during the day in your own private hot tub and gaze up at the stars at night while being warmed by the fire pit. You also have parking for one car with the shepherd’s hut.

Pull on your walking boots and attempt the 5-mile walk, mostly beside the lake, up to spectacular Aira Force Waterfall. Drive 10 miles to Pooley Bridge or make the journey by steamboat to hire a motorboat, rowing boat or canoe to take yourselves out on the water.

Herdwick Hideaway At Deepdale Hall Reviews

Alex
Really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and hot tub.
Jamie Collins
We recently marked our anniversary here and honestly, it was fantastic. The place was spotless and cosyand the fondue set along with the prosecco was a really nice touch. The views were breathtakingand we wish we had more time to enjoy them. We also meant to sign the guest book but ran out of time. Definitely planning to come back next year! Ohand next time, we'll bring some milk - us Yorkshire folk do love a good cuppa. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Emma
The hot tub was fantasticand the view really made our stay special, though a bit snug.
James
The cabin was really lovely, exceeded our expectations and we can’t wait to return!

We’ve stayed here twice now and honestly, it’s become a favourite spot for us. The shepherd’s huts are so cosy and comfy, plus waking up to those stunning views is just incredible. The sheep are surprisingly friendly-one even cuddled up next to me while I was scratching its ears for ages. It’s great value for moneyand we’re already planning to come back next year. Can’t recommend it enough!
Oliver
We stayed just outside Patterdale near Ullswater, on a working sheep farm, which was quite charming. The huts are compact but have everything we needed-well insulated, double glazedand an electric heater to keep warm. During a windy night, the hut stayed solid, so no seasickness here! Plus, each one has its own WiFi since there's no mobile signal around. Walking along Deepdale starts right from your doorstep. Overall, a really lovely stay-definitely recommended!
Emma
Really pleased with the place, it had everything we wanted!
Emma Carter
Lovely spot, comfy stay, lots of sheep, what’s not to adore?

The Herdwick Hut is a perfect spot for exploring the Lake District. Well kitted out and nestled in stunning scenery. We really enjoyed our stay, it was lovely!
Emma W.
The shepherd's hut was spotless and super comfy, with lovely towels and bedding. The scenery was like a postcard-absolutely stunning! Perfect for peaceful walks and relaxing. Honestly, we couldn’t find a single fault. Definitely coming back soon, highly recommend for a quiet getaway!
Jamie
We had an amazing stay! The location is spot on, with stunning views and super cosy touches like the firewood and welcome gifts. Watching the sheep, especially that little lamb in a balaclava, was adorable. The walk to nearby spots like Ullswater and Grisedale Valley isn’t too tough and totally worth it. Definitely recommend Lantys Tarn for breathtaking scenery. We’ll be back for sure!
Emma
This cosy shepherd's hut is beautifully decorated, with lovely touches around. Hosts are really welcoming, made us feel at home!
Jamie
The place is really peaceful and perfect for relaxing, we honestly couldn't find a fault.

Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 1 Mile
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 5 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 16 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 23 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 25 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 26 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
