The Paddock Reviews

The property was exactly as listed and we were very happy . The property was perfect for our large family group. I would mention that the downstairs bedrooms were not as comfortable as the others as one has restricted room around the bed and the other has patio doors out to the garden and so is the only access for the hot tub. As mentioned by previous occupants , there is an issue with the front door lock and we could not always unlock the door . I contacted maintenance but nobody came out and we were told to leave the patio door unlocked so that we could get in . Not ideal . Having said that , if this was sorted we would definitely stay here again .

Loved our stay at Paddock House. The location was excellent, easy to park and a few minutes into the town centre. There were 13 of us and the photos dont do justice to the size of the accommodation, especially the bedroom size and comfort. The house was clean and towels, bedding and toiletries were all lovely. The kitchen was very well provisioned including dishwasher and washing machine tablets. If we had any queries, Sarah responded immediately and resolved any issues, either sending the maintenance man or sourcing suggested new equipment. Hot tub was a bonus and also clean and very welcoming after a days activity. The only slight let down having teens with us was the wifi but I think there was a fault on the line that could be resolved. Thank you for a great stay, I have already recommended and would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic place in brilliant location, we were a group with ages ranging from 14 to 70 and everyone loved the house and had plenty to keep them occupied. Great for walkers, shoppers and foodies alike. We will be visiting again and would highly recommend it to anyone. A big thank you to Sarah the host for all her help. Wonderful communication with no problem to big.

We are a family of 7 who stayed at the Paddock, with 3no. elderly parents who have limited walking abilities. The location was great as close to the town with plenty of Restaurants, Bars and shops. Fitz park across the road from the house was great to walk with our dogs. The house has 8 no. bedrooms and the beds all very comfortable. The towels and bed linen all good quality, 3no. bedrooms did not have TVs or the Tv didnt work. There was no pillow protection, Bedroom 1 had stains on blanket. The kitchen had plenty of cooking and eating equipment. Theres 2 good size lounges that had plenty seating and a great dining room. Unfortunately the hoover didnt hoover very well and no there was no bucket to wash the floors. Some of the bathrooms needed a little more cleaning as there was mould. We had 2no. ensuite bathrooms with wonky, broken toilet seats. The 2no. ground floor bedrooms did not really work for our elderly parents as one bedroom had a ensuite, the access around the bed to the bathroom was very small, there was no wardrobe. The other ground floor bedroom had a nice big bed but no ensuite, this bedroom had the only external rear door to the garden, we had a few problems with the door lock. There was no rear door Mat to walk out to the garden. The front door was also a little difficult to unlock at times. Theres a small terrace garden with a hot tub, a summer house, 4no. chairs and a coffee table. We would have liked more seating in the garden as there was very little space for us all. We did enjoy our stay in Keswick, however I think the house didnt really work for our family.
A lovely stay at the Paddock and would thoroughly recommend and stay again. Please note the WiFi signal is poor as soon as you move away from the lounge. This may not of course be important for all! But it might be good to invest in some WiFi boosters. It would also be good to have extra dishwasher tablets... We only had three which for a group of 9 is not enough.

Great house for a group of us to stay in the heart of Keswick. Couldnt get a better location and everything was comfortable. Very responsive and welcoming host. Thank you!
Excellent house we had a great time. Bedrooms were all lovely, beds very comfortable, bathrooms clean fabulous to have an ensuite in 7 out of 8 rooms. Location of house walkable to good pubsrestaurants and centre of Keswick. For less mobile people Ashness taxis provide a great service at very reasonable price. Their drivers were helpful, flexible and very kind and friendly. We felt this house was pretty much perfect for our group and we didnt have anything negative to say about it.

The Paddock is in a great location, close to the beautiful town of Keswick and all it had to offer. The property was perfect for what we wanted which was a few days chilling with friends. Its very tastefully decorated and the kitchen was a good size if you wanted to cook. Communications with the owner were great and instructions very clear and concise Would definitely recommend and would come back again
Jessica
Fabulous house, well equipped with lots of space. Two sitting rooms allowed us to have adult and kids areas too. Good parking and so central for access to the beautiful mountains. Wifi worked well in enough parts of the house to allow for a couple of people to carry on working. Hot tub a bonus!
Brilliant!!! Definitely recommend and would definitely come back. Excellent house & location.
Nicola
Well stocked kitchen with kitchen utensils. Plenty of room not to all be sat on top of each other. We felt it cold at times when the heating went off, we altered the thermostats but didnt help any.
Jeffrey
Excellent location ie close to the High Street. We were a party of 8 and it was ideal. The rooms are excellent and ensuite. Parking for 3 cars. For the price we paid it was great. I would definitely stay here again.
Excellent location. Parking on site with plenty of on street parking too. Beautiful accommodation. Plenty of room and there were 12 of us. The ensuite rooms were a massive bonus. There were a couple of MINOR issues and Sarah was round in minutes and resolved everything. Would definitely stay again. Thank you Sarah.
Stuart
Lovely venue that was perfect for our family weekend.
Sophie
Perfect place for me and my family to stay, all of us had our own space and ensuite, plenty of rooms where we could sit together but also break off and do our own thing. Kitchen well stocked, beds comfortable, hot tub great. Location was perfect! My only constructive feedback would be to get some lights outside for the hot tub as it got very dark by 6pm and there was only the light from the actual tub, some fairy lights or something would be nice. Also in the ground floor rooms, the curtains didn't have a stopper so when we closed the curtains they came off the rail & one of the blinds panels kept falling off only little things but I imagine a previous guest hasn't reported it so just making you aware, not really a complaint. Had a really nice stay. Thank you!
Louise
Loved the property perfect for large groups. Lounge amazing, comfortable, huge seating. 13 of us stayed there more than enough space. Great kitchen everything you need Will come again, thank you !!

Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 6 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 8 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 12 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 21 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 29 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
