Cheviot Hills Reviews

Andrew
Great home in a fantastic location, spacious and comfortable, would definitely recommend. Hot tub was a great bonus.
Lovely cottage with excellent central location and spacious rooms hot tub was lovely.
We had a fabulous time at Cheviot Hills. The cottage has everything we needed and more, we were really impressed by what was provided and the hamper on arrival was a lovely touch. Wooler is a lovely village and we would highly recommend the Milan restaurant, which is practically next door. The hot tub was a wonderful addition and a BBQ on the terrace made it brilliant. My 12 and 14 year old loved it.
We had a great stay and loved hot tub and bbq and lights. Great location and had special weekend
Great location and well equipped property. The views from the hot tub are amazing and makes for a relaxing and pleasant sunset. Only downside is it can be challenging to get a parking space nearby depending on the time of day.
Lovely property with plenty of space for everyone. Hot tub was a great addition too.
Brilliant weekend. Property location is perfect and the facilities were excellent. The only negative was the sitting room tv had a poor signal.
Nathan
Brilliant place to stay, we all had a great time
We all loved our weekend
Fabulous property which is ideally located for amenities and close to coastal resorts. Comfortable beds very quiet with nice indoor space. Outside decking and hot tub an added bonus. Perfect for groups or a large family Thank you for the welcome pack
Fantastic holiday home, great location for exploring Northumberland, the accommodation had everything needed for our stay and was more spacious than the photos online gave justice. Lovely welcome basket and good communication. Would highly recommend and hope to book again next year. Thank you
Lovely welcome gift was such a nice surprise when arriving at the cottage. The games and books were such a good addition to pass the time! Thank you so much!

We had a lovely stay at Cheviot Hills. It was a perfect base to explore the Northumbrian countryside and coast. Kitchen was well stocked. And the beds were comfortable. The hot tub was also lovely and Terri sorted out some issues we had with no problem whatsoever. Really loved our welcome pack! The log burner was amazing as it was a bit chilly some nights. The towel rail in one of the bedrooms isnt working not an issue but worth mentioning so it can be fixed. Would highly recommend Cheviot Hills to any group of friends or family. Thank you
Trevor
Cheviot Hills was a great place to stay and we really enjoyed our time there. We loved the central location in Wooler, the kitchen and property overall having everything we needed and watching the stars from the hot tub. And the welcome hamper was appreciated and quickly consumed! Wooler had everything we needed foodwise, and was a great place to explore the surrounding countryside, hills and stunning coast. The only very minor suggestion is that the wifi password in the guest information needs to be updated to the current hub one.
Vanessa
Fantastic house , location and comfort. Would definitely recommend to families.
We loved Cheviot Hills, its a huge space, comfortable, and well stocked with everything you need. Very handy for amenities and within reasonable travelling distance from visitor attractions. The raised decking and hot tub area are fantastic. The only things I would improve would be making it clear there is no garden for dogs and it's a fair walk to find a patch of grass...this was inconvenient, but didn't spoil the overall holiday. Also, maybe pack a hot water bottle or 2 as it can be a bit chilly downstairs at night! Overall it was fab and I would recommend a stay.
A very spacious and comfortable house, well equipped and in a good location in Wooler, with shops, pubs and restaurants nearby. A good base for travelling out to the coast and to towns nearby, eg. Bamburgh, Seahouses and Alnwick. Spotless on arrival, plenty of room for our family of five, comfortable beds with lovely clean linen. We enjoyed the hot tub and wood burner especially, offering perfect ways to stay warm during our April visit. A good welcome pack was left for us as well as thoughtful touches for the dog bowls, a towel and treats. Would very much recommend this lovely house.
Christine
This is a beautiful big property in a lovely area. Ideal for family groups and friend groups. Every effort has been made to ensure comfort of the guests. Being an old stone building it takes some heating during a low season stay but the log burner and cosy blankets provided ensure comfort. A thoughtful welcome pack made a good starter to our stay. I imagine during warm weather the hot tub, bbq and deck area would make a great social hub, on the occasional sunny morning even during a chilly march we were able to enjoy breakfast outdoors looking out over the Cheviot Hills. Thank you to Terri for a great week
An excellent weekend away. The house was perfect for our 3 night family break. The hot tub was well received as was the log burner. Super location and the weather was good to us too. Hope to visit again!
Deborah
Beautiful house in a perfect location. Very well equipped with nice little extras cooking oil, tin foil etc. Very clean ,spacious and well prepared wood burner. The outside space and hot tub have lovely views. Can't wait to return!
Lovely spacious property. Loved the Christmas decorations and the welcome box. Great place to spend Christmas with family
Fabulous house we loved our time there. Enormous log burner added atmosphere to the sitting room. Very practical big fridge ideal for large parties. Great communication with owner. Christmas decorations were brilliant.
The property was very spacious and comfortable, with everything that we needed, including good tv reception and wifi. Wooler is a very nice friendly place and we had a really good week staying there and would be more than happy to return at some point.
Carmel
We have had a lovely stay at Cheviot Hills. It is a well equipped holiday home, ideal for families. Really spacious and comfortable and well located in the town of Wooler. I am sure we will be back
Patricia
Lovely house, furnished to a high standard, situated within easy reach of all local amenities This lovely house was very clean and comfortable and everything was thoughtfully provided to make our stay a memorable one. Very nice welcome pack on arrival. Would certainly recommend this house, large rooms throughout giving plenty space for larger groups. Loved all of it.
Vanessa
We loved our stay at Cheviot Hills, which is very spacious and comfortable. It was very hot weather for the first few days and the bedrooms were cooler, being downstairs. The hot tub and deck were a real hit, particularly with the teenagers and there's lovely views for eating outdoors. Wooler is a lovely little town with a good supermarket, restaurants & pubs as well as several takeaway options. All of that is easily walkable from the house. Welcome pack on arrival was also nice, and much appreciated.
Maureen
Lovely property, in a super location. We did have a small problem with the BBQ, but that was attended to immediately. Only suggestion might be for some shade on the decking, we didn't need it, but might have.
Jillian
We stayed as a family of 6 adults and one small dog. Myself and my husband our two sons and our daughter, her partner and their dog. The house was just the right size for us all with an exceptional amount of lounge seating and extremely comfortable beds. The four bathrooms were particularly appreciated as was the hot tub. The hosts thought of everything to make our stay perfect including a fab welcome pack. Would highly recommend
Great property in the heart of Wooler. Handy for all amenities and local walks. Great addition of a hot tub and BBQ. The four bedrooms are truly doubles with more than enough space for large groups or families.
We have had the best time at cheviot hills. What a beautiful cottage, pictures dont do it justice. Could find no faults, hot tub was lush and decking area really good. Location was excellent, great pubs & cafes very close & people really friendly. Would definitely go back.
The property was as described, clean & comfortable. The welcome basket was a plus. Would recommend it to people who love beautiful countryside and friendly people.
Stephen
There were 7 adults in the party, 3 couples plus one single person and a husky. We found the Cheviot Hills and Wooler to be an excellent location for our different interests. We are walkers, birders, historians and shoppers and all found something to suit our tastes. The house was clean, warm, comfortable and plenty large enough with four good size bedrooms downstairs and 4 bathrooms 2 en suite. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge and dining room easily large enough for all of us. It was a pleasure to sit out on the decking, and in the hot tub, with views over the town and of the surrounding hills. The town has a range of shops and food establishments that will cater for most needs. There was so much for us to see and do in the area. We would be happy to go back for another holiday there and do the things we didnt have time for on this holiday.
This property is in a great location, easy access to the village with three pubs and a excellent Italian restaurant on your door step. Northumberland fabulous days out within easy travelling distance. Amenities within the house excellent. House is so clean and comfortable, having the use if a hot tub improved out stay. Amazing holiday, would recommend.

Back home from a lovely stay at Cheviot Hills. Lovely house with everything you could need. Lovely welcome basket left with eggs, biscuits, bread, butter, jam etc much appreciated. Beds are very comfortable and lovely quality bed linen and towels. Wooler is a lovely little town with everything you could need really and beautiful scenery all around! Hope to visit again sometime.
Andrew
Very nice and exceptionally spacious property. The house was very well equipped and tastefully decorated throughout. The views from the roof terrace are amazing. The village is perfect for a getaway and has 4 pubs which are all dog friendly.
Frances
We absolutely loved staying in Wooler at Cheviot Hills. Beautiful accommodation, really well furnished and so comfortable. Neil and Rachel were so welcoming, accessible and left us lovely welcome gifts, the lounge had a beautiful Christmas tree and it felt like home from home. Could not have been nicer.... thank you.
Richard Michael
Excellant holiday accommodation, wanted for nothing, really cosy, Wooler village ... Excellant holiday accommodation, wanted for nothing, really cosy, Wooler village had everything you needed, would revisit
What a wonderful cottage and lovely people Rachel and Neil are. We arrived to lovely welcoming gifts nothing was to much trouble for them we were provided with extra wood for the fire due to the cold weather and was contacted throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed and the cottage was everything and more than we expected beautifully furnished throughout making our holiday 1 of the best we have experienced. We would definitely recommend it to all and will be back.
Jennifer
The cottage was beautiful however, due to a power cut 2 hours into our holiday we were without any electric, heating or phone connections for the whole 3 days! !!! We have stayed at this property before, so we are aware that the owner only lives 34 minutes away, however they never bothered to check if we were ok. The whole of the village was without power, so they would have been aware. There was no torch or candles left and no wood for the log burner, which would have been the only form of heat we had, the temperature got down to minus 3. All of the food we had taken went off, due to having no electricity, so that was 75 worth of food gone!!! All we had was bread but nothing to put on it, as the butter had gone off!!! We were unable to call the people who had dropped us off to come and collect us, so we had no option but to stay until we were picked up 3 days later. All in all, it was an absolute disgrace and no offer of any kind of recompense!!!

Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX
about 16 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
Conundrum Farm - EX5 3AQ
about 17 Miles
With easy access from the A1 this lovely farm just north of Berwick makes a fantastic family day out.  Follow the farm trail and meet an array of friendly farm animals.  Kids will also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, pet barn and tractor circuit.  The admission fee is excellent value and you will get a free bag of food for the animals and a bag of fish food for the trouts in the fish pond. When you want a bite to eat, the licensed restaurant is the place to go with quality home cooking and a charming location in some of the converted farm buildings.
