Lovely generally and renovated a while ago to a high quality and style. We really enjoyed our stay here, however there a few maintenance and cleaning issues and frustrating to see these had been raised in previous reviews and haven't been addressed. The list of dog rules (only provided fully when arriving) means this isn't really a dog-friendly cotRead moretage, and the issues with the hot-tub maintenance (poor jet pressure, broken cover) reduced our enjoyment of staying here. Outside area really disappointing, overgrown with weeds, dirty and hot tub cover split in two and ripped, jets not working, and water full of leaves. Current condition nothing like what is advertised. Most disappointing thing is this is not knew to the owners as other recent feedback echos what we found, so the owners have clearly done nothing to aRead moreddress this. On main road and access down lane to garden . Interior great but garden area not pet friendly . Dogs not allowed on furniture or in bedroom . Very well equipped cottage, great location great walks from the doorstep. Welcome pack was greatly appreciated, spa also an added bonus.
John
Great base for exploring the Berwickshire coast and Border towns. Cottage is clean and tidy and is equipped with everything required for a relaxing stay.

Beautiful cottage in a great location! Perfect base for exploring the area with lots of places to visit only 30 mins away. Lovely walks in the area too. The local town is lovely and people are very friendly. The cottage itself is lovely and cosy with everything we needed. Fridge is a bit small so just be aware not to do a full weeks shop like we diRead mored, but there are lots of local shops to top up throughout the stay. Would definitely come back again! Hide

lovely comfortable cottage and very well kept and furnished served as a great base to tour the east Scottish coastline thanks very much, we would happily return
Karen
We had high expectations for this property after reading the reviews. Sadly the hot tub area is most disappointing. The cover for the tub was broken and very dirty. It was a challenge to lift & return the cover. The area is neglected, cover from bbq lying on patio, table dirty and a very annoying spot light that came on every time you moved! Very nice cottage but would benefit from direct access to garden area. Welcome basket was very good

Beautiful cottage with great travel routes to the coast. Immaculately clean and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. A welcome hamper was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. Would highly recommend.
Rachel
Cottage was lovely very clean and well equipped . Stayed over Christmas and it was really cosy and relaxing .
Gordon
The house is lovely, clean and smart. The hot tub was great (no direct access from the house). Duns is a lovely location with plenty of places to eat and lots of interesting places to visit in the area. We enjoyed the forest and river walks with our dog.
Laura
Just back from an amazing week in this beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean, very welcoming, everything you need for a relaxing holiday! Stayed there with our one year old daughter and everything was catered for. Location is great so close to so many great towns, Duns was lovely itself and had everything you need close by.
Philip
Very lovely cottage and we really enjoyed our stay. A great base for discovering the many castles and stately homes as well as the spectacular coastal walks. Although the cottage is billed as dog friendly, there were a lot of rules concerning the dog. The cottage description should say that the garden area is accessible via the back gate only. HoweRead morever, apart from these two minor points, we would have no problem in staying there again or recommending to friends. Hide

Viewlaw lodge had everything we needed for our stay and was very comfortable. Lots to do in local and surrounding areas. No entrance directly to garden/hot tub. Not being able to let our dog into the garden first thing in a morning to do her business was a pain. Garden/ hot tub area wasnt as well kept as the lodge needs some attention
Clare
Tastefully, comfortably and well-equipped renovated cottage. Without direct access and having Astro-turf, the garden isnt suitable for dogs, which should have been mentioned in the cottage companys description.
Anne
Lovely cottage with everything you could possibly need/want. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and great shower. Enclosed garden & hot tub were great. Within easy walking distance of the village with shops, pubs & cafes. Plenty of places to walk the dog from the cottage. Lovely welcome pack which even included chews for the dog. Super base for touring the borders.
Niall
Comfortable. Convenient location. Nicely furnished and equipped. Space enough for a couple and a small to medium dog. Close to a main road but you're really not aware of it once inside - I'd take that over two miles of pot holes to some rural secluded place. Thank you.
Tony
We had a most enjoyable week. Its a lovely cottage, clean, very comfortable and a great base for exploring the surrounding area. It was our second visit and we would definitely recommend it.
Brian
Dog tolerant, not dog friendly. Front door opens straight onto a lane that cars fly up and down, so make sure your dog is on a lead! Garden is at side of house with no direct access from house and is astro turf, so not for dogs, and if you want to use the hot tub, again, no direct access from house. Dog not allowed in bedroom at all - only found th is out AFTER booking. It's a lovely clean and well presented place, but I wouldn't say it was dog friendly!
Helen
I would recommend this staycation to couples the location great and the locals warm friendly and helpful. The garden enclosed garden is private and welcoming with a deck, patio set, BBQ and Hot tub. Too many restrictions make this the place not to take your pets. The Allanton Inn just 10 mins drive away is family run, friendly and not uour average pub grub, an added bonus to our experience.
Mark
We had a really nice week here. The cottage is well equipped, clean and warm.We accepted on booking that there is no back door but staying for a week and going out the front door along to the garden gate to let the dog out is a pain.Especially when the garden is Astra turfed and the dog is not allowed to biz. The cottage is in A good location for wal king from the doorstep through Duns Square and up into Duns Castle Estate. The cottage is about half an hour away from North Berwick.
Jacqueline
Beautiful cottage, only downside was the hot tub was to the side of the building so you had to go out the front door and round. The other thing that was annoying was the outside light kept going on & off when in the hot tub. Other than that a very beautiful cottage and would definitely recommend to others
Patrick
Excellent property
Jane
Would highly recommend this cottage. It's in a good location with everything you need. Locals are very friendly and helpful.
Angela
The cottage was decorated lovely and the welcome basket was really very much appreciated. Maybe dont advertise as dog friendly, the access to the garden via the road is an issue. The constant noise during the night, like water heating ( we presumed it was the hot tub?! ) was difficult to get to sleep to, which was a real shame as the bed was so ver y comfortable.
Kevin
Nice place not really dog friendly with not able to have his bed in the bedroom In ability to get into garden without walking down drive and with the rules on dogs on the Astro turf is a little difficult
Tony
Absolutely loved this place. The lodge was spotless, well equipped, comfortable and with the log burner on very cosy. We enjoyed using the hot tub too, very relaxing after a day's walking with our two dogs. The location was great for exploring, lots of lovely local walks, beaches approx 30 mins away and we also visited Loch Lomond which was 2.5 hou rs away but worth it. We will definitely be back. We had a fabulous time. The lodge, the local people and the surrounding areas were just great!
Ciaran
Loved our stay. The perfect getaway. From the fully equipped kitchen to the thoughtful extras, we had a lovely time and recommend to anyone looking to explore the area with their dog.
Charlotte
Fabulous week! Me, my husband and our dog visited and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lots to do in and around Duns as well. The cottage has everything you need, very modern and clean, comfy bed, loved the log burner and of course the hot tub!
Steven

Mike
From the moment we arrived, we felt extremely comfortable. The cottage was was very well equipped, everything we needed was there and it was so peaceful.
Chris
A really nice cottage in a good location which is ideal to explore the borders
Julie
Was good location was clean and tidy only let down was no parking outside cottage and no back door to go into garden for hottub and a small wardrobe no clock in lounge
Tracey
We loved the cottage, well equipped and very clean Nice walk into the little town but not all pubs open, only 1 was descent. Plenty of walks from the cottage and not far to drive to a gorgeous pub/restaurant in Allington called The Allington Arms, fantastic food.
Craig
Great stay in this beautiful cottage. Very well decorated, cleanliness superb, and the little extras well received. Good location to explore the borders, and a 10 min walk to town centre and pub. Hot tub and garden well done, and only few steps from front door in to enclosed garden.
Sophie
Absolutely lovely cottage, very spacious and clean! Loved the stay we had at it
Rachel
Stunning cottage really enjoyed my stay
Bill
My wife and I stayed in this property over the Christmas period. It is very comfortable and well-appointed. The quality of everything provided is excellent. It's a quiet location, situated in the small town of Duns. The hot tub is a bonus and a great way to relax. The wood burner was great for cool evenings. Everything about this cottage makes for a really pleasant stay.

With easy access from the A1 this lovely farm just north of Berwick makes a fantastic family day out.  Follow the farm trail and meet an array of friendly farm animals.  Kids will also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, pet barn and tractor circuit.  The admission fee is excellent value and you will get a free bag of food for the animals and a bag of fish food for the trouts in the fish pond. When you want a bite to eat, the licensed restaurant is the place to go with quality home cooking and a charming location in some of the converted farm buildings.
