Emma
We loved the lodge’s setting, it’s just gorgeous and really peaceful. Everything inside was well-appointed and comfy. The sea views are absolutely breathtaking - honestly, wow. It’s a perfect spot if you want some quiet time. Close enough to explore Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas too.
Emma
We had a lovely time at No1 Lodge. The view was simply stunningand the lodge was super well-equipped and spotless. Weather was a bit dull, but it didn’t matter at all - just the peaceful, chill holiday we needed. Highly recommend!
James
Really peaceful spot with all the mod cons, loved it!
Oliver
The place was spotless and had everything we needed, all very high quality. Honestly, if you're after peace and incredible views, we'd definitely recommend staying here without a doubt.

We stayed in the lodge for a week and honestly, the weather was pretty terrible with constant rain and strong winds. Despite that, it was still a cracking experience, especially watching those huge waves crash just outside and seeing the sea birds battling the wind. We even spotted a red kite soaring overhead, which was pretty special. Castle Douglas turned out to be a lovely spot for food, so overall, I’d recommend these lodges if you're after a chilled out break, even if the weather's not perfect!
Emma

We stayed for our 25th anniversary and honestly didn’t want to leave. Definitely planning to return soon, it’s just too good!

We randomly stumbled upon Rascarrel Bay Lodge while browsing and ended up having a fantastic stay. The weather was exceptionally warm and dry in early September, but honestly, we think this place would be great any time of year. It’s a perfect base for exploring the area, with handy supply points nearby. The highlight? The sunrise was absolutely breathtaking! We left feeling relaxed and eager to come back again.
Emily

Honestly, this place is perfect if you're after total peace with just waves and seagulls in the background. We had a really chilled stay, nice walksand the lodge was super comfy. Everything was thought of - wine, flowers, chocolates - the only thing you need to bring is toiletries and some food. Highly recommend!

We've stayed at Rascarrel Bay Lodges three times nowand it’s always a fantastic escape. The peaceful surroundings, watching birds and the sea for hours, really helps us unwind. Fiona and her family have thought of everything to make our stay comfy. The lodge is lovely and perfectly located. We’re already planning our next visit-can’t wait to return!
James
Really nice place, but the hot tub lights kept going out and the outdoor stairs to it are broken. The exterior looks tired, so some upgrades might be worth it overall.
Emma
Beautiful spot, lots of amenities, perfect for unwinding and relaxing.
James
Everything was really well done, from the warm welcome with flowers and chocolates to the overall experience. Absolutely loved it and will return for sure!

We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.

Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
