About Little Bicton

Little Bicton is a stunning, detached stone cottage set in pretty rural surroundings, near to the town of Clun in South Shropshire. The accommodation has been beautifully furnished with many traditional touches and features, providing a superb base for those looking to escape the rush of their busy routines.

The approach to the cottage is fantastic, passing over a small bridge and entering a blissful scene of idyllic countryside. Head inside to discover the farmhouse style kitchen, finished in a contemporary design with Farrow & Ball colours and LED lighting.

During mealtimes gather round the dining table and enjoy a lovingly prepared meal, discussing how best to spend the rest of the holiday. Sink into the sofas in the comfortable sitting room, with your feet up and the roaring fire burning, what more could you ask for?

As the evening draws to a close, retire to the well-presented bedrooms which can be found upstairs. The master bedroom has a very homely feel with exposed beams and a plush king-size double bed, and with the twin and double rooms Little Bicton offers flexible sleeping arrangements.

After a day of exploring the unspoilt Shropshire countryside, rejuvenate in the bubbling hot tub with a glass of something cold in hand. There is also a fine seating area to the rear of the cottage, situated next to the charcoal BBQ which is sure to be used on a hot summers day.

From the cottage you can walk in any direction and expect picturesque scenery from all angles, or stroll towards the town of Clun for a drink or meal in one of the pubs. If exploration takes you further afield then the popular market town of Ludlow is worth visiting, as well as the whole of the Shropshire Hills.

Little Bicton Reviews

Our second stay at Little Bicton, a gorgeous cottage with everything you could possibly need. Great for our dog, lots of secure outside space he made friends with the horses in the neighbouring field! Loved using the hot tub then back inside to a toasty log fire. Beautiful location with lovely walks and quaint villages close by. Will definitely be back again!

We have had a fantastic week! The cottage is so comfortable and it was lovely to light the fire in the evening after enjoying a relax in the hot tub star gazing! There is so much to do and lovely walks straight from the cottage door. Thank you for an enjoyable holiday.
Brilliant stay at Little Bicton, great cottage with lots of space, a large garden and a great hot tub. Close to lots of fun things to do. Jenna the owner was really helpful. We had a great week in Shropshire.
2nd stay at Little Bicton and lovely as usual. Hosts are warm and friendly. Can't wait to return in the future. Thank you
Lovely property a bot better signage to direct visitors when they first arrive would be useful
We had a lovely time staying at Little Bicton. It's a beautiful property, very peaceful and well appointed. The huge bonus is the easy access to lots of walks including the Shropshire Way, right from the doorstep. The kids loved all the animals, particularly the friendly horses, as well as the hot tub. The only disappointment was that, for a small dog like ours a young border terrier the garden was not at all secure, with lots of large gaps under the wire fence. It would be fine for a larger dog though. A lamp in the twin bedroom would be a good addition, and a new pack of pegs is needed for the washing line! These were very minor issues in what was otherwise a really pleasant break. We hope to return!

We have had a fantastic stay at Little Bicton! Our grown up children and their partners joined us for the first weekend and thoroughly loved Bicton and the surround area! We were so fortunate with the weather and enjoyed a walk to Clun for a delicious lunch at the White Horse and an explore of the castle! We would also thoroughly recommend the Sunday lunch at The Powis Armsvery good value too! Little Bicton is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy numerous walks from the front door with out having to get in the car! We are looking forward to a return visit later int he year as we loved it so much!
Louise
This was our first stay at Little Bicton and from the moment we walked in we loved it! We a really appreciated that the sitting room log burner had been lit as it was so warm and cosy when we arrived. The house had everything we could have wanted and the hot tub was a perfect way to end the day. There are lovely walks straight from the front door which our dogs thoroughly loved. We will most definitely return!
This place was amazing, had everything that you could want, hot tub was a bonus. Only thing that was the weather wasnt the best so had to travel around 30 minutes for the kids to do something indoors. This doesnt take anything away from this cottage, we would definitely go again. We had to cut our stay short due to an issue at home but still enjoyed our shorter than planned stay.
Lovely charming property for family staycation. Nice touch that wood burners were prepared on arrival needing only lighting. November break Comfortable stay, furniture a little dated, small tv in lounge & some kitchen equipment was unclean on arrival but did not affect our stayenjoyment. Did have slight issue with heating & hot water, but hoists sorted it quickly. Car needed a good clean, rather uneven bridge or ford access only working farm. Hot tub under the stars lovely. Mind your head walking around property and through internal low doorways, stairs could be tricky for less able people. Please explore Clun, Bishops Castle & Montgomery, so quaint.
Amazing cottage, great facilities. We were only there for two nights but had a great time, plenty of space for 6 adults and two labradors! Hot tub was great and was included in price. The owners had put on the heating before we arrived so was cosy from the off. Shower room downstairs with additional toilet was useful. Wish we could have stayed longer would definitely like to stay there again
Nicola
Wonderful cottage, well appointed, the couple who represent the property were very welcoming and helpful. Minor points which could be addressed is that given the remoteness of the property better signage from the lane would help, and due the the tranquil nature of the area an Electric vehicle charging point should be installed. We would definitely stay again.
Lovely location. This is the second time we've stayed at one of the owners cottages. The garden is secure for smaller dogs, but some of the boundary being stone wall our Retrievers could easily have jumped over. Although they didn't!. The cottage is nicely situated for exploring. National trust and English heritage properties all reasonably close by. Also 25min walk to Clun using the Shropshire way, 2 pubs at the end of the walk. Will definitely be returning.
Carolyn
A beautiful substantial character cottage in a stunning location with amazing views. Cosy and comfortable with plenty of hot water and great water pressure. Large well equipped kitchen. Dogs loved the large enclosed garden. Watched the Red Kites while enjoying the hot tub which was checked daily. Walks from the door straight onto the Shropshire Way. Lovely walk into Clun. Such a peaceful, quiet, beautiful area. If you get the chance, look at the stars! Great hosts.
The house is warm and comfortable. The listing needs to be updated to state there are low beams and doors throughout the property Im the shortest of our group and at 510 I spent the week ducking or forgetting and banging my head. We live in an old cottage with beams but our ceilings are much higher. It did take the shine off the week for us.
Highly recommended return visit very likely!
This was our second stay at Little Bicton and Im sure well be back again. A lovely comfortable well equipped cottage with amazing outside space and beautiful views. A really peaceful place to recharge your batteries
Wonderful place, well looked after. We had an amazing time and will be returning. Thank you.
It would have been helpful to know that there were some low doorways in the cottage.
We had an absolutely lovely time at Little Bicton. Hector our dog thoroughly enjoyed the large enclosed garden which he spent most of his time in! To see the horses every morning was an absolute delight. The house is so lovely and we could not fault it. Thank you for an enjoyable stay! Lisa, Paul & Hector
Stunning cottage, this is our second time there as we just loved it so much the first time. Stunning walks straight from your doorstep. Kitchen fully equipped with everything you need. Both fires prepped upon arrival. We will for sure be back again
Absolutely beautiful property in beautiful surroundings. Very well equipped, gorgeous log burner in the lounge which was lit when we arrived, amazing hot tub. Loved every minute !
A really nice cottage in a great location
Absolutely fantastic cottage! Amazing location, a spacious and well equipped property that is homely and comfortable excellent beds, we all slept so well! beautiful surrounding, great hot tub and views. Jenna and Jason are excellent hosts, would love to stay here again!
Desmond
Couldn't fault the location or cottage and amenities. Very private and had everything we needed. Saw very little of the owners but they were on hand if needed but we didn't want for anything at the premises. The weather was a bit wild during our stay but house was warm and comfortable. Would definitely use again. The area around Clun was great with good pubs and eating opportunities. Thank you
We had a very enjoyable stay , the property was beautiful, warm & cosy, the hot tub was great & the surrounding views fantastic . Just a few very petty points , we couldn't find any kitchen scissors & the metal oven trays could do with replacing very nervous about using heavy ceramic dishes by the glass hob
Russell
Very good stay and great accommodation
Caroline
Beautiful cottage. Stunning views from every window. Will definitely be back
The cottage was cosy and immaculate, it was well equipped and surroundings were tranquil and peaceful. We highly recommend this property.
A wonderful location in a beautiful county with fantastic walks, friendly people and great pubs. Secure garden so perfect for dogs. Only comment is 2nd double bedroom is very small. Otherwise well fitted out. We had a great time.
A very high standard of accommodation. Had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Little Bicton. Brilliant!
Just spent a wonderful week in this lovely cottage. Superb rural, peaceful location. Very well equipped, clean, cozy cottage. Outdoor seating very comfortable and as the weather was nice I spent alot of time outside enjoying the view. Big garden ideal for the dogs to chase each other. Relaxing in the hot tub in the evening was very peaceful. Easy access to Shropshire way. Close to Clun which has a spa shop. Not to far from Ludlow, which is lovely to wander around and Mortimer forest has some lovely walks. Leintwardine has a lovely chip shop, the fiddler's elbow, which is gluten free and has vegetarian and vegan options. It's a 20 minute drive, but can pre order online to collect and then sit and eat by the river. This is one cottage I would definitely return to again.
Isobel
Good things The house was very clean and well equipped. It was well situated in a lovely area for cycling and walking. The supply of maps and guides was very helpful. The log burner was a great asset on the cooler evenings. Not so good Only one wardrobehanging space between 3 bedrooms. Second dble room had no storage space and was cramped. No recycling bin inside the house and insufficient recycling bin outside. The one provided was also open to the elements. We removed the stair gate at the top of the stairs because we felt it posed a hazard there wasn't room to open it fully which meant you had to manoeuvre around it at the top of the narrow, steep stairs.
Little Bicton is a lovely welcoming, spacious cottage with superb views of the surrounding Shropshire hills. You have to negotiate a 180yds rough track up to the cottage but it is well worth it once you arrive. Set in a superb, quiet and peaceful rural position surrounded by the glorious green Shropshire countryside. The cottage is very spacious and well equipped with comfortable furniture downstairs and equally comfortable beds upstairs however just beware of one or two low doorways. Outside theres a large enclosed garden surrounded by fields containing sheep and a couple of friendly horses. The small town of Clun is just a five minute drive where there is a good local grocery store. All in all, a delightfully roomy and welcoming cottage that was one of the best we've stayed in over the last 45 years.
Stephanie
Lovely cottage house that was so peacefully quiet, just the birds and the sheep. A mile and a half from Clun, so walking distance either down the road or along the Shropshire Way. Great garden surrounding the house with outdoor seating and hot tub. Indoors, lovely log burners and a home from home. The only minus was the TV in the lounge slightly on the small side but OK. Not really anywhere to put a big TV due to lovely reclining sofas and window on 3 sides... a massive TV in the main bedroom!!! Thoroughly relaxing stay thank you
Tracey
Thank you for a lovely stay at your cottage, the views were to die for and the property was spotless!
Abigail
Beautiful cottage, great location. Everything was clean, and comfortable. The fire was lit before we got there, and the whole cottage was really warm which was lovely. We loved being able to walk directly from the property to the Shropshire way, and also down to Clun. There were sheep, ponies, and goats in the next field which were nice to look out on, and I enjoyed watching the Rooks nesting while relaxing in the hot tub. We were left in peace, but the owners were on hand and very helpful. All in all a great relaxing holiday, thank you!
We loved it stunning location and perfect for us with our dogs.
The cottage is so beautiful, set in a lovely peaceful setting. Only took around 40 minutes to walk into Clun. Hot tub is amazing and checked daily.
