Willow River Lodge Reviews

We had a lovely relaxing stay here and would definitely recommend it.
Samantha
A really homefromhome experience with an amazing backdrop, luxe hot tub and log burner. Every comfort and need had been thoughtfully catered for. Even a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and fairy lights on the decking made us feel cosy and Christmassy. The contacts answering our queries were very patient, courteous and knowledgeable. We did struggle without internet access, as everything is online nowadays. The draw full of brochures gave some information, but we could've investigated the area more had we had access to maps to find local eateries, petrol stations etc. Overall a thoroughly amazing break. A real Christmas treat. Worth every penny. Thank you.
Amanda
Absolutely beautiful setting alongside the river with views of hills and sheep. The hot tub was lovely and clean. The beds were so comfortable we all slept really well. We loved the log burner and spent a really relaxing time at Willow River Lodge.
Thank you for a perfect little breakcant wait to return! !
The most stunning place. Willow River stole our hearts and we will be back. We had a whole week as a family of 4 and we all relaxed and enjoyed lots of free gorgeous walks around the area. Sitting by the river listening to the water was absolutely amazing. We were so sad to leave!
Lovely lodge, beautiful setting with peace and quiet in abundance. A perfect place to relax and unwind.
Sophie
An absolutely incredible week at the lodge. Owner informed me in advance of an issue with the TV no problem as I just bought my fire TV stick which worked a treat. The lodge has everything you need, and is an excellent base to go exploring. The bed and sofa are comfortable, the hot tub was a lovely treat. Watching the ducks swim past, the moorhen and her babies, as well as an array of other birds, was fantastic. Already want to come back!
The lodge was lovely and the setting stunning. The one thing that let it down was that the TV was working there was a not left for us apologising. I feel this should have been rectified we paid for a lodge to have the facilities fully working including the TV for the durt of our stay it wasn't. If I knew guests were coming I wouldn't expect them to find something not to be working. We were there for my birthday and been wanting to go for quite a while then COVID stepped in and we had to cancel. The TV which wasn't working was an old analogue virtually obsolete now. As a gesture of good will feel we should have compensation as we paid in good faith, for it all to be working, you don't expect to go there and find the TV not to be working and all you get is an apology I didn't want an apology I wanted a working TV to keep your guests happy it should have been rectified

I love this lodge. It has every amenity, its spotless, the countryside is fabulous and the owners are very friendly. Ive stayed a number of times & will be booking again.
Great place, well appointed and comfortable. Loved the fire and the tub.
As a returning visitor, Willow Lodge is the most comfortable home from home the sofa is more comfy than my own and the bed is dreamily comfortable that I sleep so well in it! The location is perfect if you just want to get away into the countryside and enjoy local wildlife, go for walks or enjoy the friendly local pub! The hot tub is a marvellous treat, too! Everything is 5 and I hope to come again soon!
Philip

Robert
Very happy with our stay, picturesque and peaceful settings, and cosy pubs near by! ! We found our lodge full of everything we needed, especially the kitchen, Its always difficult to know what to bring but we found everything we needed to open our wine and prepare food, We enjoyed the log fire on, looking out onto the river and the surrounding farmland and hills, We were lucky enough to have the snowfall also so made it even more cosy. Really enjoyed a peaceful weekend away from the hectic life we live. Would come again!!

Sorry late review. .We stayed at Willow Lodge at Christmas, it was tranquil, beautiful lodge with all the personal Christmas touches, especially the Prosecco. Hot tub was amazing as the log burner, we loved our stay, and will definitely be booking again, thank you x
We went to Willows river lodge for my husband's 50th and had an amazing few days, The owners went above and beyond to provide everything you could need to make our stay perfect. We will be staying again.
We have had a very relaxing week at willow lodge it was a lovely quiet place to ... We have had a very relaxing week at willow lodge it was a lovely quiet place to relax and do nothing but sit and watch the river go by We had everything we needed and having the log fire was also a bonus The one thing we could not do was to go outside on the decking it was very slippery which was a shame A place to be recommended Thank you
This was my 2nd stay to Willow Lodge, which says it all really! Everything is clean and comfortable, with beautiful surroundings. Even on the wettest of days, it is lovely to hear the wind in the trees and the babbling River next to the veranda. The bed and bedding is high quality, with plenty of towels and very wellequipped kitchen. The hot tub is clean and easy to use, though struggled a little in the removal and replacing of the cover as a lone traveller until I worked out my way of doing it! I shall return!
Maureen
Peaceful and beautiful. Lovely location Very spacious
It was a beautiful spot, lovely accommodation and we loved every minute of our stay. Ps we really loved the prosecco thank you.
A rare find that is even more impressive than the pictures suggest. A hugely relaxing and peaceful week by the river with only the sounds of the water and wildlife for company. Outdoor decking overlooking the beautiful scenery is enough to keep you busy, especially in the hot tub! The lodge is furnished well and is very clean, well appointed and cosy. It is impressive just how many things have been thought of to make the stay as comfortable as possible the only possible addition to improve could be a fan for the warmer weather. The local area is quiet and not packed with things to do but the peaceful way of life and superb scenery more than make up for it. We look forward to returning in the future!
A fantastic lodge with nearly everything you could think of provided. The bubbly, milk, biscuits and coffee pods were a lovely touch. The lodge was spacious and clean. The views from the decking were amazing, so quiet and peaceful. Lots to do in the area or you could just sit, chill and relax in the serenity. Would highly recommend the lodge and the park.
Jacqueline

Excellent customer service
Beautiful & peaceful riverside location, ideal for breakfast while watching the local ducks in the sunshine. Plenty of walks straight from the lodge, including 5mins to the village pub with amazing food and 2 miles to Purdslow for food too. Easy drive to plenty of nearby attractions. The lodge was well equipped with lots of nice little touches. The hot tub and log burner were well used. I'm recommending it to all of my friends.
Lovely lodge, easy access to some amazing scenery. Perfect little get away.
A beautiful lodge, idyllic location, immaculately clean and every need was catered for. Comfortable beds and a lovely hot tub. Couldn't fault a thing, we will be back, thank you.
I stayed here recently for a week, a gift from my wife. The lodge was immaculately clean, furnished and equipped to a very high standard and situated in a quiet and beautiful location I spent a week relaxing, having coffee on the deck, feeding the squirrels and birds and alternating between the hot tub and sitting in front of the log burner I highly recommend Willow River Lodge and would love to visit again
Debbie
Beautiful lodge in a beautiful location. It has everything you could possibly need for a weeks holiday. It is beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. Thank you
Had a lovely time. More wildlife this time than when I visited a couple of years ago. Loads of birds to see and a squirrel visits each day. I will be back. Furnishings all updated since last visit. Beautiful.
My wife and I had a wonderful weeklong staycation at Willow Lodge in Clunton. It proved a very peaceful, and delightful location beside the river, and a great base for exploring Shropshire and nearby MidWales in early September. We enjoyed walks on the local hillsides as well as on the Long Mynd, visiting Powis Castle, Ludlow, and the Red Kite feeding centre at Gigrin Farm, Rhayader, and dining at welcoming local pubs in the evening. The hot tub at the lodge was a big hit after a day's exploring. Some previous guests have reported seeing otters from the lodge. We didn't manage that, but we did see a kingfisher flying up and down the river on several days during our stay. Magical.
Danielle
Beautiful cabin everything was perfect
Jackie
I love this Lodge it is perfect for a peaceful get away in lovely surroundings that are beautifully maintained. Ive stayed many times and it never disappoints. Everything is provided for you including a very welcome bottle of Prosecco & while the Lodge is in a pretty, secluded spot on the river, Ludlow & Shrewsbury are not far away. The owners, Marilyn & Keith are very kind & helpful and made every effort to ensure that I had another very enjoyable & restful week at the lodge. In the words of another large person, Ill be back.
Perfect, peaceful location, comfy and relaxing! All you could need to unwind.
Host's were fantastic, the lodge had everything needed and more. Was a fantastic, quiet beautiful location. Would happily return and have already recommended to family and friends.
