Shepherds Linhay Reviews

Lisa
Peaceful, secluded holiday house, well presented, clean, and well equipped. Karen was very helpful and always available but also gave us privacy. Lots of great walks nearby, located in beautiful countryside, and the hot tub was the best we have experienced.
Mike
A lovely little cottage and ideal for those wanting a quiet break. We went there with relaxation first and foremost in mind after a very hectic month or so at work, this cottage is ideal for such a purpose, but also a handy base for sightseeing around Somerset or the North Devon coast. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and understanding with regards to our dog's anxiety issues. We would definitely recommend this cottage.
Jackie
If you want to get away from it all then this place is ideal. Very remote and peaceful. Supermarkets close by and a few takeaways too. The cottage was well equipped and our dog loved it.
Stephen

We absolutely loved our stay here. Karen showed us round on arrival and explained the hot tub along with other gadgets. We felt at home straight away with how cosy the place was. The views are stunning and the property is well kitted out with everything we needed, logs, velvetiser and plenty of cooking equipment. The attention to detail is superb a nd the finish is outstanding. This is a very special property and I'm so pleased we got to stay here. We will definitely consider returning again.

Hands down the best place we have stayed. We had the most amazing week, our host Karen was fantastic. The accommodation was clean, beautifully designed and so peaceful. Jeremy our dachshund had the most fun in the fully enclosed garden which gave us the peace of mind and him the freedom. The log burner and hot tub where the highlights and we will 1 00% be returning!
Georgia
We were greeted by Karen, the host on arrival after we had settled in, which was very welcoming! The location is absolutely breathtaking, the views are stunning, there is no noise at all which is so relaxing! The cabin is designed to such a high standard, you feel at ease and at home as soon as you enter. Karen, the host was just a message away if you ever needed anything. Highly recommend if youre looking for a relaxing break with beautiful views & some time to explore the local surroundings.
Gill
Lovely location, the most fantastic views with everything provided for a relaxing stay. The building is just lovely, furnished beautifully with handmade and original features, linked to the land and area. Karen and her daughter, Kelsie, welcomed us on arrival and told us about local dog walks and how the hot tub worked. We used it several times, ta king in the views. Complimentary eggs, fresh from the farm hens, were delicious poached for breakfast. Thank you Karen & Simon, we will return soon.
Josephine
What a gem of a property, so peaceful and relaxing. Very tastefully decorated, wonderful to sit on the decking with views across the fields. The property is very private and quiet, so you can switch off from the world. Easy access to many places to explore, and also dog walks straight from the property. Walking access to nearby pub so you can have one or two drinks and walk back. The owner very helpful and only a call away if needed. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack, we will be returning.
Caroline
Immaculately clean accommodation in a beautiful setting. Ideal location if you want to get away from it all.
Karen
The cottage is amazing really very comfortable the sofa is a little bit on the soft side, but really appreciated the welcome note and all the goodies left for us.
Michelle
Beautiful cottage and hot tub! Very clean and well equipped. Stunning views however felt very isolated and because of the very hot weather we couldnt take the dog out. The flies and wasps were very annoying! Owners were very helpful and polite
Michael
Lovely property, stunning views. Perfect rural location, close to M5 and A38 but remarkably quiet. Hosts extremely helpful. Hot tub a real bonus. Kitchen very well stocked. Property has Netflix and freeview to so no need to pack box sets. Maypole inn approx 30 minutes walk away and well worth a visit. Sofa comfy but a bit saggy. Being a rural locat ion there are lotsand lots of flies so worth packing plenty of Raid and some fly swotters. Already rebooked for next year- enough said!
Tim
Had a very chilled out week. Loved the privacy and great views. Found some good dog walks too. Karen was very helpful. Thoroughly recommend!
Jamie
Absolutely fabulous property with phenomenal views. Couldnt have asked for more accommodating hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Will certainly be returning in the near future
Florence
Would absolutely recommend Shepherds Linhay for a beautiful, tranquil stay. The cottage has everything you need and finds the perfect balance of both luxury and comfort. We felt able to fully unwind while enjoying the picturesque views from the hottub - you feel as if you are the only people for miles around. Karen is an excellent host, who is so a ccommodating and only a text away (even when she was on holiday herself)! The fresh farm eggs provided were delicious and our dog enjoyed himself too
Samantha
The place was absolutely stunning. The views were to die for. Nice and peaceful and being in the eco tub looking out across the countryside was beautiful. The dog absolutely loved being free. The style and comfort of the property was spectacular.
Philip
Karen our host was very welcoming & informative. The property has stunning views over the Somerset levels, & is luxurious with the benefit of a hot tub. Lots of quirky features & home comforts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay @ Shepherds Linhay
Carl
We spent 7 nights at Shepherds Linhay and simply did not want to leave. This is a special place. The facilities are perfect and the views spectacular. We couldnt have wished for a more perfect way to spend our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Great location to go off and visit places. Our highlights, Dunster, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge and Wells. If you w ant privacy and to just spend time together then this is the place for you. Youll only share it with the local wildlife.
Ruth
We had a wonderful week away at Shepherd's Linhay. It's in a great location for exploring both the coast & countryside & we had some great days out in the city of Wells & the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth. It was exceptionally clean & well maintained throughout. It's in a peaceful, private spot & we appreciated the fact that the outside area was ful ly enclosed for our dog. Being out in countryside, we did have an issue with flies but as long as you pack some fly spray they're not too troublesome.
Aisha
Wow! A 5 star experience from start to finish! We stayed at Shepherds Linhay to celebrate our wedding and we couldn't have asked for anything more. The house is set in a gorgeous rural lo location with uninterrupted views that we enjoyed from the comfort of the gorgeous hot tub. Inside we found lots of personal touches that made us feel right at ho me! Big thank you to our hosts, who went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable! 100% recommend!
Edward
Wonderful time at Shepherd's Linhay! Its a place where you can just 'be'. We simply kicked back and relaxed with everything the place has to offer. Its all been so well thought out that we wanted for nothing but the knowledge that Karen was on hand for anything if we did need it simply added to our relaxation. The place is absolutely spotless, a cr edit to all involved who work so hard to keep it that way. Its an absolute gem of a find and we will most definitely return again. Thank you so much!
Courtney
Absolutely loved our stay and cant wait to go back!
James
We had a lovely time at Shepherds Linhay, and would very much look to stay again. Wanting a break and time to recharge we could not fault it and the location with the views each morning a very specially highlight.
Danielle
This location ticked every box for our intended getaway. The location is fantastic, not a person in sight and amazing sunrises, sunsets and star gazing. The barn was cosy, spotlessly clean but felt very homely and accommodating. Used the log burner and hot tub every day! Would highly recommend.
Nicky
A stunning very private property with the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises . The hot tub is amazing . Its an individual and high end property .
Stephen
Lovely cabin, really modern yet has character. Owners are lovely and were really informative and wanted to make sure we got the most out of our stay. Hot tub was lovely and filled up quickly, the log burner took some getting used to and there was no real way to regulate the temperature. Excellent for the dog as the garden was really well kept and f enced in, be aware the decking can be a little slick if wet when running around with the dog. The log burner was lovely, extra available on request.
Stuart
We absolutely loved our weekend at Shepherds Linhay. The cottage was perfect for what we wanted, quiet, secluded, comfortable, and finished to a really high level. We loved the little touches of the velvetiser and the dog treats. Cannot fault anything about it.
Mandy
We had a lovely week at Shepherds linhay. We were dropped off with all our our supplies as we dont drive and so we spent most of our time at the house. It was well equipped, clean and lovely and warm. the hot tub was amazing and we were in it every day, the owners were so helpful and happy to bring us extra logs twice during our stay. The Maypole p ub was a 30 min walk away as were the village shops. We had a very peaceful relaxing holiday and intend to return one day.
Benjamin
What can we say - other than an incredible place. We arrived in the dark to a secluded lodge in the middle of the Somerset countryside - the accommodation is cosy, incredibly clean and very homely. The wood burner is a treat, as is the wood-fired hot tub - which we used 3x a day during our stay! Would highly recommend as a place to explore parts of Somerset, or to just completely switch off and recharge - we didnt see a soul and it was so quiet, day and night. Thank you, well be back.
Matt
Cottage was perfect: spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and luxuriant. The design, private location and views delivered a warm, rewarding aesthetic experience. Particularly enjoyed the wood stove and hot tub. Great variety of local walks and so many safe and gorgeous on and off-road cycle routes - that I need to return. Karen the perfect host. Th anks Matt.
Amy
An absolutely delightful stay - couldnt fault it. Will be telling all my family and friends, would recommend to anyone. 10/10.
Tania
Fantastic place to stay and soak up the views (and the warmth of the gorgeous hot tub). A great space for two with all mod cons: warm and cosy and quiet, a well-equipped kitchen and oh, the gorgeous views! The fresh eggs were a treat too. Our host Karen was super helpful in terms of tips for shopping & local walks. We had a wonderful, restful break .
