Linskill Cottage Reviews

A lovely property and a great location perfect for a good walk to town and back! Excellent facilities and good sized rooms. Just one or two things in the kitchen that could have been a little cleaner, but not a major issue for us. We would certainly book Linskill Cottage again!
Joanna
Great space. Rugs filthy and back door mat was soaking wet when we arrived. Love the quality of furniture, comfort of the beds etc Could do with a fire stick or similar for the TV so we could sign into our amazonNetflix accounts or similar. Well stocked kitchen and appreciated the BBQ. Could do with a coffee machine. Would come back if we were in the area. Really appreciated the car parking space and proximity to town.
Rupert
Bright, cheerful and well equipped within a couple of minutes walk of the park and ten minutes down into the town. Off road parking a real benefit as it's a busy road. Hot tub and barbecue in the yard at the back perfect for a summer holiday!
We had a fantastic Christmas at Linskill Cottage, house was warm & comfortable & homely, plenty of room for 4 adults, brilliantly positioned for walking into Whitby & a short drive to Sandsend. Lovely Christmas decorations & a welcome basket much appreciated, highly recommend, many thanks
Angela
Thank you ! lovely cottage I have stayed here before and it was as nice as I remembered. Nice and clean and cozy and a short stroll in to Whitby. The cottage has everything you could ask for and even a hot tub ! The welcome basket was a nice surprise. I would highly recommend
Lovely property, ensure shower very small and unable to alter height of shower otherwise a fabulous property. Great location for access down into town, beaches etc.
Hi loved the cottage the only 1 thing is only 1 wardrobe family had to live out ... Hi loved the cottage the only 1 thing is only 1 wardrobe family had to live out of suitcases but recommend for a great property
Shelley
This cottage was definitely home from home. Very comfortable. We will return. Just one criticism, we feel it would be better with a shower cubicle in the bathroom upstairs, instead of a shower over the bath.
Denise
Cosy, comfortable, clean and well facilitated cottage. There is everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Linskill cottage was brilliant. Was lovely to arrive and have a welcome sign on the chalkboard and a basket of essentials left for us too! The cottage was more than big enough for our family of 4 adults and 2 teens. It was a short walk into town but all uphill coming back... The X4 bus runs from Whitby train station to just around the corner so that was useful and saved our legs. The hot tub was a real treat, very easy to use and comfortably fit 4 people in. Would definitely recommend this cottage to others.
Lovely cottage in a really great location. The cottage was really spacious and very well equipped. Really nice large rooms throughout equipped with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. The hot tub was great and got a lot of use. In terms of location it is great as out of town but a comfortable walk into the centre so great for access to local shops, bars and restaurants. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely go back.
Catherine
Great cottage, great location. Very clean and well presented. We would revisit.
Rebecca
The cottage was amazing, it was extremely well equipped, very comfortable and a great location.
Overall nice property but several things need attention to make this a 5 star property as listed. Firstly the door to the main bathroom doesn't close at all as it is warped, downstairs bathroom doesn't lock, paintarcetrave peeling off wall directly about bed in main bedroom, ensuite toilet cistern sticks on intermittently. Cleanliness in ensuite could be better, walls dirty and grout mouldy. Only 3 normal sized glass tumblers in kitchen, which don't match . Disappointed no welcome pack as advertised, reason is stated as due to covid but not sure how this is relevant since items are wrapped and shop bought?! Positives were hot tub which looked very new and was great, also good location. If the above issues were addressed we'd stay again but as it currently stands we wouldn't unfortunately.
Robert
Generally all was fine, but the back gardenyard was considerably smaller than I expected. You can BBQ, but theres no room to eat outside. However, the hot tub was very welcome to come back to after a long walk.
Richard
A very good week in Linskill Cottage that was located well for exploring both Whitby and the surrounding areas along the East Coast. Comfortable beds and house was large enough to accommodate our family of 4. The hot tub was a lovely addition after being out daily to unwind in the evening and destress. There were a few cobwebs in the kitchen area that were a little disappointing to find but all in all the cleanliness of the house for its size was reasonable. We would definitely return as we enjoyed our week at the property.
The location was fantastic and encouraged us to walk into town each day. The location was peaceful. The hot tub meant our evenings were relaxed before sitting down to chill out and watch TV. The hot tub was clean. Everything had been thought of that could be needed which made the stay feel home from home. Cooking was a pleasure as the kitchen was brilliant therefore we could be together and enjoy the cooking. We have spent many holidays in Whitby and have stayed in various accommodations but this was certainly the best.
It shoud be pointed out that the property is not suitable for those with walking difficultiesmobility issues unless they are prepared to drive or get a taxi. The property is a 15 minute walk downhill to the bridge across the river, I could never have walked back up, it was a case of drive or have a taxi. Available parking in Whitby is a longish walk from the main areas.
Jennifer
2 out of the three bedrooms are very small and there is only a wardrobe in the master bedroom so if accommodation was shared by 3 couples would be very cramped especially the third bedroom as the door doesn't even open properly as is blocked by the bed.
Loverly house great location would definitely stay again
Frances
The cottage was very nice. We were disappointed that the racks on the barbeque were left dirty and the bins were full from the previous visitors. Also we did ring and query the hot tub as it looked very murky and scumy. We were told someone local would call but they didn't and we were not happy to use it. The hot tub was one of the reasons for booking that particular property so we were not pleased. Visitors should be made aware of the last time the water was tested so that they can be confident it is safe to use.
Really great holiday and lovely house. Only downside we had was being unable to use the hot tub for 3 days due to unserviceability. This was one of the main selling points of the house when booked for our grandchildren. I understand howwhen items break but when the gentleman arrived to fix the day after reporting he stated that he thought this should have been sorted by now as he had been out several times!
Lesley
Had a lovely break, beds very comfortable, nice quiet location but also close to everything.
Jennie
We had a brilliant time in the cottage. Plenty of space inside, great location, comfy beds and the bonus of a hot tub! A great week.
Hannah
The size of the property was perfect for the amount of people staying
Lovely clean and modern house perfect for a short break over new year. Hot tub was a nice addition and house felt both cosy and homely but also big enough to have 6 adults and 2 under 1s.
Kathlyn
The best Christmas ever. Cottage absolutely beautiful. Christmas day kids on beach playing football. Boxing day fish and chips and the slots. Location perfect near to town and a beautiful park. It was like a Christmas fairy tale.
Carole
A very lovely, cosy cottage. Very convenient for the town centre with the added bonus of parking. We had a great time with plenty of gorgeous meals out, coastal walking and lots of laughter.
Andrew
Great location with a short walk to the cliff top, beach, harbour and town. No need to use the car.
Curley Party
All highly satisfactory and will book again! Good information available within the guest folder at the property.
Hewitt Party
The welcome pack is very thoughtful, very generous and was greatly appreciated by us all! Cottage is spacious and comfortable and is in walking distance of lots of local amenities. The children particularly loved Pannetts Park, less than 5 minutes' walk away. Private, off road parking is a fantastic bonus in Whitby! This is our 5th Easter break in Whitby and we will definitely be back next year, all being well!
Black Party
We always have an excellent cottage when we book with Yorkshire Coastal Cottages each one different but with its own unique charm.
Proctor Party
Fantastic location a haven of tranquility inside, yet only 10 yards from the hustle and bustle of the main street.
Richards Party
Excellent stay for our honeymoon. Thank you.
The Richards
We arrived for our honeymoon early December and were immediately impressed with Linskill Cottage. We were greeted with a warm welcome by the office staff and enjoyed receiving a goodie bag full of local treats. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Linskill Cottage has excellent facilities beyond what you'd expect from a holiday cottage, which all made our stay extra special.
Moore Party
Overall everything was wonderful and we had an amazing stay. Everything was perfect.
McLaren Party
We had a brilliant time in Whitby as always. First time in Linskill Cottage but defnitely not the last. The GNMR to Goathland was a great day out and kids loved crabbing in the harbour. Can't wait to return next year!
The Priestley Family
We had a great family holiday. Stunning house in a fabulous location, very lucky with the weather and sad to be going home.
Adian And Fiona Bell
What a great house for a family gathering, we will definitely return

The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS
about 10 Miles
Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 15 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 15 Miles
Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.
Peasholm Park - YO12 6QQ
about 16 Miles
This attraction is ideal for sunny days as the beautiful park is ideal for wandering out and taking in the scenery.  You can hire boats including rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the views from the water.  The pedalos with the dragon heads are always a popular choice too. Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see".  You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 17 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 20 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 27 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
