Dating back to the 11th century, Colchester Castle is a Norman castle in the town centre of Colchester. It is the largest example of this style of castle in Europe and has been built on a Roman temple which has helped it stay intact.
Visitors can explore exhibits and displays inside and learn more on a guided tour which takes you into the roman vaults and onto the castle roof. There is a large park area that surrounds the castle which is a great picnic spot in the summer months.
